I was really worried if anyone would be able to make my hair look good again so I looked up "best salon's near me" and Kim Harper Salon came highly recommended. I had my appointment today with JoJo and I couldn't be happier with not only how well I was treated by staff when scheduling, but how amazing of a job Jojo did. It was a little more expensive than I usually spend but it was WELL worth every penny. I went from feeling so low about myself to walking out with a big smile and that's what Kim Harper's salon and JoJo did for me. I couldn't be more thankful and plan to be back for the next time I get my hair done. If you're hesitant, don't be. I'm beyond happy I found this salon and Jojo.

I walked in thinking I made an appt with someone and I actually didn't make the appt. She overheard at the reception and took me in at 4:30pm and did highlights and a cut for me. It's rare to be able to witness such a selfless act these days to go out of the way for someone else. Salon Messina, run by Tammy and her sister, Rina, has moved around a bit over the years, but for the past four or five years they have been located off W Us Highway 22 (extension of Montgomery Road), just past the Landen Shopping Center. The current location, set on a large pond in Maineville, is definitely its best location, as it is really homey, cozy, and comfortable on the inside. Throw in the in the kindness, friendliness, and warmth provided Tammy, Rina, and the other hairstylist, Kathy, and you end up with a great experience at Salon Messina. The salon is located in an old house across from the Landen-Deerfield Park, and while most of their business is hair, they are set up to do offer other services such as nails. It doesn't matter who is cutting your hair or greeting you at the reception desk because everyone that works at Salon Messina knows who you are and treats you like a friend (not a client). They always offer a complimentary Coke product or cup of coffee when you walk in the door too. I will say that they aren't always running on time (yet neither am I with Montgomery Road traffic), but that's because they spend ample time working on your hair and making sure you are satisfied with the end product. It isn't glitzy or anything, but if you want a comfortable atmosphere and a friendly, reliable, and experienced person working on your hair instead, Salon Messina can and will offer you all of that at affordable prices.

I booked with Caitlin V bc she specializes in blondes. Caitlin lived up to her reviews and then some! She took the time to talk to me about what I wanted and she more than delivered. Not only is she talented, she is kind, funny, and really interesting to talk to. I was in need of a 'pick me up' w/my hair and I got it! I am 66 and have had my hair cut and colored all over the world, and I have to say Caitlin is one of the best. Wish I lived in Cincinnati, I'd be a regular! The salon is peaceful and trendy, without being intimidating. The salon manager, Jack communicated clearly with me by email, and was so helpful when I was making my appointment. They were also prompt in responding to my questions, which can be a rarity these days. The front desk staff was so welcoming and made me feel like a long time cherished customer. They gave me recommendations on restaurants and places to visit in the area (shout out Victoria!), as it was my first time to Cincinnati. I was really nervous about getting my hair cut but she was just fantastic! Not only did she go slow and make sure everything was okay with me - she had great suggestions and was also really entertaining. :) Hair cut was $45 - no washing, etc. It wasn't even needed though - she did an awesome job just using the hair dryer and a brush! The salon itself is small but very nice on the inside. The parking lot and waiting area were a decent size. The building was also very clean and neat. From the looks of it, the other stylists do a great job as well. Amber is my new favorite though, so I will certainly be back to her! :)

The older lady there has hands that shake badly. Enough so that every time she got close to my ears or my eyes I held my breath and tried not to move. She was nice enough, asking questions and trying to be polite, but I was unable to relax in that short amount of time because I was terrified of being poked. The worst part was the time and price. It took her all of five, maybe seven minutes to thin the bangs and shape up the sides, and had the audacity to charge me $50. $50 for shaky hands and 5 minutes worth of work? I can't go back, and I can't recommend that you do, either.
