The bleach bled which made me look like I had a skunk mark on my head and was devastated. I was really worried if anyone would be able to make my hair look good again so I looked up "best salon's near me" and Kim Harper Salon came highly recommended. I had my appointment today with JoJo and I couldn't be happier with not only how well I was treated by staff when scheduling, but how amazing of a job Jojo did. It was a little more expensive than I usually spend but it was WELL worth every penny. I went from feeling so low about myself to walking out with a big smile and that's what Kim Harper's salon and JoJo did for me. I have been looking for a new salon since I moved and love Kim Harper Salon! I can't say enough good things about Heather. She truly saved the day for me when she fit me in last minute. I walked in thinking I made an appt with someone and I actually didn't make the appt. She overheard at the reception and took me in at 4:30pm and did highlights and a cut for me. It's rare to be able to witness such a selfless act these days to go out of the way for someone else. I love going here and find any of their stylists to be of equal expertise and could go to any of them if I couldn't get in my usual stylist. I recently started going to Kim Harper's and am so happy I did. After going to another salon that colored my hair almost black (ugh! Not what I asked for!) I was afraid my hair would be damaged in an effort to correct the color. I read reviews and selected this salon and Valerie. Valerie is amazing! I love her energy and personality! On my first visit she spent a lot of time talking to me about how we could lighten my hair in steps that would not damage it. I left that day loving my hair again. I just had my second visit with her and the process is continuing - I have total faith in her and her ability to restore my hair to the original color. Not only that - I love the finished style! During this visit she had a cosmetology student shadowing her and she spent so much time coaching her - covering tiny details from coloring, cutting, shampooing and styling to advice on how to be successful in the business. I have had stylists with a student observing for the day and they hardly acknowledged their presence. I didn't think much about it at the time until I saw the time and attention Valerie gave this student. I feel she learned valuable things that day that she wouldn't have learned in class. The staff is amazing -- Kim has built a professional, fun, comfortable culture. I was there last night getting my regular cut from Ellie (THE best. I used to bring pictures in of what I THOUGHT I wanted....now I just ask Ellie to do whatever she thinks is best, lol, and I always love what she does). I got there a bit early, so while I was waiting for Ellie (with my cup of hot tea, nice touch!), I heard Jill at the front desk on what sounded like a difficult call. Brittany takes the time to get to know your hair vision. I booked a partial foil with a haircut. As part of a typical standard partial foil, at nearly any salon that I've ever been to, a toner is nearly always applied. At this salon - I was given a single color, partial foil, and at the chair I was informed that the toner would be extra. That matches their online price list , so no surprise there. Since I also received a haircut (includes blow out and curling iron style finish), I received a combo discount. Brittany recommended a "tease" method for the partial foil, which gives a blended look without the high balayage price! I agree that it blended nicely. I am a fan. This is a beautiful salon and the staff is seasoned and professional. I paid $165 before tip, which is higher than what other Cincinnati salons charge for the same service, hence only 3 stars. read more

This salon is such a gem! First of all, the staff is so friendly and genuine. Some salons give off an intimidating vibe, but Kim Harper Salon is relaxed and super zen. My stylist, Katie, is amazing! I've been working with her for cuts and colors for months, and she is always extremely thorough and makes sure that her customers are happy with the results. The stylists are all up to date on current trends and techniques, and I know that Kim Harper is a big advocate for their continuing education which is wonderful. Prices: GOOD! Better than some other salons in the area for sure. Note: I think it's typical for stylists to have 2 customers at a time. For example, I'll get my hair colored and while I'm waiting for it to set in my stylist will do another hair cut on another customer. This tends to make the experience a little bit longer (allow for an extra half hour), but on the flip side it opens up the stylists schedules for making appointment. From walking in to leaving, I've never had a bad experience here. Love it love it! read more

This place had only recently opened last summer when my mom and I stopped by after a particularly exhausting work-out at the nearby gym. We were in search of massages and were pleased to find that there were two back-to-back appointments for therapeutic massages available on the same day we visited (I doubt this would happen now, every time I've driven by the spa has been packed). The massage technician was absolutely amazing, I always tell my masseuses that I like a lot of pressure but never seem to get it. This was not the case at Kim Harper. I have a very high pain threshold and I was squirming under the pressure the masseuse used...but man, it hurt sooo good! She asked me quite a few times if I wanted less pressure, so don't be afraid if you don't like your massages rough. Atmosphere at this salon and spa is cozy despite its size. The receptionist was humorous and friendly and offered us lemonade, coffee, water, and cookies as soon as we walked in the door. Every stylist or technician that came out to the reception desk during our booking period greeted us and offered their cards and services. I have yet to get back to Kim Harper to experience any of the salon services because it's out of my daily way, but if I'm ever in Mason and in need of a cut or color, this is the first place I'll stop! read more

Sara egregiously cut off a foot of my hair I had grown for 4 years in memory of my mother without my permission then was extremely condescending, rude and disrespectful. It caused me to re-grieve my mom for days. Kim was wonderful and did everything in her power to apologize, including having Katie (also wonderful) do a very pretty corrective cut in an attempt to make it presentable. Kim and Katie are the only reasons for the positive star rating. If it were possible to leave a negative star rating for Sara, I would. She 100% deserves it. read more

Kim Harper does not listen to her client - she cuts your hair how she wants to - I told her no short back and long sides. It took a long time to get my hair the length I wanted it (almost to shoulders). I told Kim to be sure to keep my length and not to do a bunch of short layers. She even showed me a picture of Victoria Beckman style haircut and I said NO WAY. She did it anyway - first cut was at the base of my skull. Kim Harper needs to listen to her clients. read more

I have now gone to Elizabeth Loper at Kim Harper Salon 3 times to get my hair colored and every time I leave loving it more than the time before - it is INCREDIBLY hard to get a natural light blond (instead of turning out white/platinum and trashy) and she does it everytime with perfect highlights - very very classy! Elizabeth does a fantastic job and I have recommended her to everyone I know...needless to say, they all look amazing after visiting her. This place does the best hair. Katie Rentfrow (KR) is my stylist and she is a true artist. Stylists really do their homework. The style I'm rocking now was researched and chosen by KR. It was a big change for me. I get compliments on my hair all the time. It wasn't just a bold new look. It was a perfect fit for both my fine hair and my widow's peak-ish head shape.
