I was super excited to go to Salon Ivo because of the great reviews and her experience. But after my experience here, I will never go back. Ivo is an extremely nice lady and not to say she does bad on other people's hair but she literally ruined mine. She used such strong chemicals on my thin hair and bleached the crap out of it that it started falling out. I have never lost so much hair in my life. I asked for a natural looking full highlight but instead got a rushed uneven bleach job that made my hair yellow. I cried. I went to another salon to have it fixed and the new guy who did my hair felt so bad for me and said it was one of the worst highlight jobs he had ever seen. I do not recommend Ivo if you have thin hair or want a highlight. I wish I could get my money refunded for this awful experience. read more

Although I came early and she was working with her current client I waited for awhile but once it came my turn she asked what I wanted, so I showed her a picture of my desired haircut. It was by far the quickest haircut I ever got but she did so good and gave me exactly what I asked for. No fus no mus and I was in and out within 20 minutes. It was great. I'm not a high maintenance girl at all and not too sociable with strangers which is why I really appreciated her listening, asking for clarification and executing the hairstyle I really wanted in such a short amount of time. I went in with my two daughters who needed their hair trimmed. My first daughter (5) has very fine hair and I asked for a blunt straight across cut with as little off as possible. This was achieved, though the line wasn't as straight as I would like however her hair is naturally wavy so it won't be too obvious. My older daughter (7) steps up. She has very long, straight, and thick hair. She wanted no more than three inches off. So I asked for three inches off with a straight across blunt cut. This woman who I'll say was very nice started hacking away at her hair without sectioning and barely spritzing her hair with water, it was basically dry. It was horrific. The scissors couldn't cut through her hair in one go so this lady kept hacking away and her hand was shaking. She also took for 4+ inches and I could see my daughter was heart broken. When she asked me how I liked the length I told her I didn't want her to cut anymore off because she had already cut too much off. She didn't reply and kept trying to clean it up. Finally she asked what I thought and I told her the line wasn't straight. So she had my daughter stand up and started hacking more off. At this point I realized she didn't have the skills to do this right. So when she asked what I thought I said I wasn't happy but I didn't want her to cut off anymore. She started arguing asking what was wrong with it and I told her she cut off too much and that the line wasn't straight. I paid for the first haircut but refused to pay for the second. She kept arguing claiming I didn't know what I was complaining about saying one minute it was the length the next it wasn't straight. But it was BOTH. We left the salon and my daughter burst into tears saying her hair looked bad. Additionally the salon was dingy. She used a straightener on their hair that was crusted with product and she put some kind of greasy product in their hair that made them look oil slicked. read more

Went in for a haircut for myself and my partner and Ivo blew us away! Not only was she kind, she was also incredibly thorough and thoughtful! She made sure to be extra gentle while working with me because of my chronic pain disorder and even made sure to go out of her way to keep me comfortable. It can be hard to find a good hairdresser when you struggle with disability and chronic pain, and now that we've found Ivo I never have to worry about it again! She did a phenomenal job on my partners fade, my partner even said it was the best fade she'd had since she moved to Austin! Overall it was a wonderful experience for an affordable price! The first time Ivo cut my hair, I was very happy with it. I asked her for just a trim, to take about a 1/2-inch off the split-ends, and keep it the way it looks now because I didn't want to lose too much length. She thought I should have layers, but I told her I didn't want any. She cut it the way I wanted it, and I left a happy customer. I came back soon about a month later, requesting the same. This time, though, she cut these awful-looking layers despite my telling her I didn't want them. I wasn't able to see the extent if the layering at the time - she styled and blew it out in a way that looked ok, although I figured I'd touch it up a little at home myself later. I almost never style my hair though, really don't like to blow-dry it, as it's damaging and time-consuming. But I can't get it to look good. My hair is very fine and with the layering, it looks like a mushroom. If I cut it to even out, I'd lose about 6 inches of length, and I really don't want to do that, so I've been pinning it up in a 1/2-ponytail. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! This was the WORST salon we have ever been to!! We only check this salon out because another girl recommended us but we will NEVER come back. My sister asked for a balayage highlights and it was very patchy work. She paid 160 for a half done job, so we asked if she could fix it and she made it WORSE! When we tried to talk to her again about fixing it correctly she was very rude and did not take criticism nicely. When we asked for a refund she refused to give as a refund. I can't express enough to STAY AS FAR AWAY from this place as possible!! Apparently the business owner loves to yell at and harass people who park in the plaza's shared lot. Rather than post a sign to have dedicated spots like every other business is already doing in the plaza, this (irrational) business woman would instead stand outside and berate random passerbys attempting to command them to park somewhere else. Her excuse was a large car will block view of her door, preventing customers from seeing her salon. GASP! If only there was a large sign with Big Bold Yellow lettering at the top of the building which could be relied on to avoid this enormous crisis?! The funniest part was not a single person walked into the salon throughout the entire duration of our 30 min lunch next door at Pho Dan. Went in with long hair and a picture and came out with exactly what I wanted. The appointment was super easy to make and she was able to help me decide what was best for my fine hair. She would go back and make sure everything was even and looked symmetrical and she was even extra careful around my brows which I had just gotten microbladed. For religious purposes I needed a private space and she was able to close the salon to do my hair privately for comfort. Found IVO SALON on yelp, and I thought I'd give her a try after reading such great reviews on here. I called and asked if I would plausible to come in and get my hair cut within the hour. She said yes, I got there and first of all she is so personable, she took the time to listen to what I wanted for my hair. Even with my vague description she cut my hair exactly the way I wanted it. I have long car with wavy curls and she layered perfectly!! She is very reasonably priced and made me feel like she'd been my hair dresser for years! Had my haircut here this weekend for the first time; I made an appointment based on yelp reviews. I really liked the lady who did my hair but overall my visit was less than stellar. I don't love my haircut, it's not awful, I just don't love it. I mentioned a "long bob" at the beginning of my appointment and I got the feeling that she wasn't sure of what that was and then she said she wouldn't do it anyways. There was a woman there before me and her trimmings were still on the floor while I had my hair cut. I have gone to Ms. Ivo a few times now to get my hair cut. She is very personable and experienced. I give her a hug whenever I leave; she is just such a pleasure to talk to. A friend recommended Ivo to me and I am so glad I went! Not only is she a delight, her haircuts are good and very reasonable - $25. Can't find that in this city (well out of Super Cuts that is). Unfortunately she is in the strip shopping center that faces Braker just before Lamar. There's a bank at one end, a couple of Vietnamese restaurants, a new Mediterranean restaurant, etc. I say unfortunately because she's the only establishment that doesn't have a nice fancy sign permanently mounted so it's very easy to drive by and not enough notice a salon. She can't afford a permanent sign and her temporary sign keeps getting stolen. I have always been pleased with the haircuts I have gotten this is the first time I have not been pleased. I asked for something and the lady that did my haircut kept saying that wouldn't look good. I was a little suspicious when she kept saying 'chic.' I asked for a bob and she wanted to cut my hair really short from the back I didn't like it because my hair is wavy and didn't want to have to straighten everyday. She told me that my hair was not that wavy that it would be fine but I changed my mind and went with a layered bob. She left my hair looking like a little boys hair.
