When I called for an appointment, the receptionist was great and even offered me a cancelation appointment for the same day. During my service I was surprised and grateful for a few small but significant details: Olivia took a lot of time with me before shampooing to discuss my lifestyle and help me choose the right cut for my hair type. I felt confident that she was using my hair as a guide and was really helping me succeed in managing it. As a not-tall person, I really appreciated the footstools at the shampoo stations. (I didn't feel like I was going to slide out of the chair!) Olivia was awesome in answering all of my questions about products and haircare, and she was meticulous with my cut and blow out. The true story of Olivia. One day I called a company I trusted which was Tony and Guy(still trust…read morethem). I got booked by a random person named Olivia. She told me she was getting a new job somewhere else. For the next cut she had given me her personal number even though Tony and Guy wasn't letting her do it she did it anyway. I met Olivia ONE time. Olivia was INTERVIEWING at a new salon and had me go to the new salon. Vain.... First of all you can look by the photos on instagram Olivia did not know how to cut a mullet she had no photos until she met me. #1- she didn't like the style I chose as a client which was definitely really layer more like a mullet and I TAUGHT HER WHERE to cut my hair. #2- She refuses to flat iron my hair because she thinks it's bad for my hair even after I requested it the entire cut- and my hair was crooked due to the fact it's wavy. So at Tony and guy she fixed the crooked but at Vain? No way she definitely did not create a good look my hair was crooked on one side. So I called the manager to get the hair fixed on one side. For some reason maybe I was too honest and nice? Not sure!! But they did not want to fix my hair. Here's how the facts go for Olivia 1- she lied to vain to get the job claiming I'm a client that's following her around even though I just met her 2- during my cut at vain Olivia said thank GOD you are helping me get my job here in this interview 3- refusal to flat iron my hair so we can make sure it's even on both sides. In fact she laughed like she's gonna do what she wants even if I flat iron my hair and it's healthy she want going to do it. 4- lack of styling knowledge sorry Olivia- and Vain- but Olivia didn't know how to dry bangs that are wavy. She did not at Tony and guy yet- she was struggling with my hair she kept them wavy and they were crooked. So she had done some research on how to do my hair by the time I came back and showed me a technique she JUST learned. I'm like her guinea pig at this point. She had no clue how to dry bangs that were curly like mine. I watched her struggle and not listen and my bangs were crooked. 5- look at her profile from before Vain well then I requested my mullet cut showing her exactly how to cut my hair FYI LOOK at my hair right now- I have cut it myself ever since Olivia. Sorry but I'm an extremely amazing artist and I can cut hair it's an art but it's not brain surgery it's actually extremely easy to cut hair. It's not hard and I cut my hair better than Olivia ever has and that's a FACT. 6- By the way- this entire time I have been TEXAS STYLE NICE and quiet just letting Olivia LIE to Vain acting like I'm a client that knew her but really she just told me she moved from Miami and needed a job. I don't know her - she did bad with my hair in 3 areas but whatever. 7- Uneven hair- so mostly my layers on both sides of the face were completely different. I'm pretty sure Tony and Guy(a better salon) would DISAPPROVE of what she did to my hair. But when I told Vain Salon I was uncomfortable with my haircut and by how uncomfortable with Olivia? They took Olivia's side who they only knew for a month for some reason. I lost sleep because I spent so many years letting people walk all over my kindness. They were rude and it was only because I told them the truth about Olivia. They all wanted me to shut up. So I did- because now Olivia who started cutting girls hairs like MINE AFTER I TAUGHT HER WHAT GIRLS IN AUSTIN WANT NOT Miami wild child long boring Florida girl hair. No I taught her Not to cut hair crooked How to cut curly bangs How to cut a mullet What girls want in Austin Flat iron is ok on hair Apparently I helped her get a job ALL OF THAT?! and mostly? I just needed my hair fixed on each side. But guess what I do it myself now you all act like layering in such a skill and the art in cutting hair but really it's in THE SERVICE. And the service from Olivia was so trashy. So I'm finally saying something because the emails I have from the owner? Were such rude responses I'm going to guess "Vain" owners that are NOT TEXAN are what's going on. I did nothing wrong but be wayyyy too nice to the owners and Olivia. Who lied to them to get a job and Olivia shut me up this long!!! She traumatized me. But I'm the artistic girl she sucked my fashion, my knowledge and my energy. I ended up with a significantly shorter cut that was so thinned out I feel like I have so much disconnection in my hair. The back is so short in parts that I can hardly grab it with my fingers, let alone straighten it. I also have naturally curly hair so I can only imagine the nightmare of how I'm going to deal with those pieces once wet and styling until they're long enough to deal with. I also want to preface, my hair was well past my shoulders, very health and had no face framing or short layers when I walked in so it should have been pretty straightforward. Very accommodating, she offered me water, soda, beer... I just had the water but I think next time I'll enjoy a drink! I'm one of those who prefer the person cutting to give me suggestions on what they think would look good and Amy was more than happy to offer suggestions.
