I had my brows laminated & waxed today by Jocelyn, and she did such a great job! She's very gentle when it comes to waxing and takes her time. I let the salon take before/after photos as a reference point for others looking to get their brows laminated & waxed...they are very good about posting on their Instgram account, which is where I initially went looking for other previous examples of clients who received the same services. I am very hesitant about letting someone wax my brows without seeing previous work, as I've had a bad experience in the past at another salon. I'd highly recommend coming here! P.S. This is the second time I've ventured out to find a new brow waxing place since moving here. I usually get my brows done when I'm back home in CA, but I needed a quick opening and somewhere closer than downtown. I booked a brow & lip wax and was seen by Jessica. The session went by quickly with little left to critic after. My brows looked cleaned and the natural shape was exactly what I wanted. I suppose the only thing I would say is I probably wasn't used to their wax as my skin was pretty itchy afterwards, but eventually went away. The store itself is spacious and smelled like bath bombs when you walk in. Everyone was friendly and I was in and out in no time. The only thing I didn't like is they require that they keep your credit card on file for future bookings and they do charge it if you don't come or cancel less than than 24 hours in advance. However, they wouldn't charge it without letting you know first and I understand where they're coming from. read more

USED to really like this place, then they changed secretaries. My first experiences with Clean Slate were fantastic! Nicole is a very talented and gifted aesthetician. Courtney, however, is not. I have to echo a previous comment here, the quality of your service TOTALLY depends on who your appointment is with. Courtney did my lash lift ONCE and my lashes were so frizzy and painful it was shocking. (Unfortunately she's ALWAYS the only one available) I've put up with it for the explicit purpose of being able to possibly book with the very talented and lovely Nicole, however, but no more. The new Secretary has proven to be unprofessional and takes simple things personally (despite not offering me the customer water or drinks when I check in like she does for other clients when I'm there). Maybe this new Secretary only caters to WHITE clients. (10/07/19) I had an appointment with Nicole for my usual lash lift and brow wax. I arrive for appointment on-time and the Secretary tells me I'm unable to have my appoint because Nicole is sick. This isn't a big deal to me, people get sick. But I believe it is embarrassingly unprofessional to not give prior notice. Wasted a lot of time and I would have liked the opportunity to chance to schedule with another shop before my event (but to due to the last minute cancellation there was no time left). And to make it WORSE the Secretary claimed they left a voicemail but when I looked on my phone there was none! I even called my carrier to make sure. Really awkward that the Secretary insists on professionalism despite this blatant lie. Just today (12/18/19) I got a voicemail about the secretary's feelings being hurt. I work a very high-powered job and sometimes I have to take another call. That's precisely what happened today. If I got upset every time a call dropped I wouldn't have ANY clients, employees or friends, lmao. The ONLY reason I had to call in the first place is because Clean slate has an Incredibly glitchy online booking system. I initially called trying to change a previous appointment to one that I saw was still available online but kept not letting me book. Secretary said that was not possible despite it still appearing available online. How am I supposed to know all the special policies? Aesthetician Nicole is so talented that I've tolerated these flaws but honestly No More. I'm taking my patronage elsewhere. I don't have time for that kind of shoddy treatment. I only go here for last minute emergencies like an unplanned event comes up, mostly bc the wax they use is not sensitive skin friendly. Also it's a 50/50 chance you'll get someone who cares what you look like when you leave, and they use rubbing alcohol as pre treatment and straight tea tree oil as post treatment. Yesterday I made a same day appointment thinking traffic wouldn't be as bad since it was Friday, but traffic was bad so I called to let them know I would be late. Then was charged 25% to reschedule. I'm now calling a day in advance (22.5 hours in advance) to cancel, and they are charging me 50% for it. I understand if I do this every week but I only use this place a total of six times in the last two years of living across the street. This kind of hassle isn't worth it for "emergencies. My massage therapist was very good, although I don't understand why a scalp massage has to be a $25 add-on when I booked a full body massage. That's head-to-toe in my opinion, and I didn't request aromatherapy or any other additional services that cost extra $ for the salon. I had my eyebrows laminated, waxed and tinted - the results are outstanding - I have never had brows that look this good. I wake up feeling like they are already done. This place is incredible! The salon is very elegant, smells wonderful, and most importantly it is extremely clean! I have seen Marilyn twice for a brow, lip, and Brazillian wax and she is fantastic! I've had my brow and lip waxed regularly for as long as I can remember. Marilyn does both of these waxings very quickly and as painless as possible. She did my first ever Brazillian and made me feel very comfortable. She's also extremely knowledgeable about what she's doing and can answer any and all questions that you have about any waxing process. She talked to me the entire time she did my Brazillian and totally took my mind off of the uncomfortableness. So I was having a really difficult time scheduling same day appointments at another waxing salon and decided to Yelp a different place to get my eyebrows done before my birthday on Wednesday. I was able to schedule a same day appointment for when I got off work with of the estheticians. I was 2-3 minutes late and they still accommodated me for my appointment time. The esthetician I was originally scheduled to be with was stuck out of town and the salon had another esthetician come in (who lives an hour away!!!) to cover for her so there would be no canceled appointments. WOW, I am so grateful they did that so I could still get my eyebrows waxed. Kourtney was amazing and thorough with my eyebrows. She took her time and I really love my eyebrows! First time at Clean Slate and it won't be my last! I've been delaying getting my brows done because of COVID but Clean Slate's robust safety measures reassured my fears. They require customers to sanitize their hands before handing any tools at the desk, fill out a questionnaire regarding their current health status, and disinfect surrounding areas immediately after it has been touched/used such as the card machine. In addition, the staff wore masks at all times. Very impressed by the high regard for cleanliness and cautiousness to protect their customers as well as themselves. As for the quality of my session, I was also impressed. Nicole was my waxer and she was very attentive and precise with the waxing to get the look that you envisioned. This was going to be my forever waxing place, id just moved to Austin and I was impressed by the aesthetician. Today, I had a 2 PM appointment and I was running late after a school pickup. I called to tell them that I'd be there at 2:10 (and this was my first time being late ever), I was told immediately without hesitation that a 10 minute delay would mean a 25% cancellation fee followed by a reschedule. I was taken aback by the complete lack of empathy and understanding on the other end. I asked to then go ahead and cancel because there was no way I'd go back, and I was told I'd be charged for a cancel too, but since this was my 'first time', I'd be let go without a cancellation charge - so being 10 min late was unacceptable even for a first time, but cancelling was okay? 10/10 to my warm, and competent aesthetician, and 2/10 for their 'un-flexible' (their words) rescheduling policies and the very cold front desk staff. Edited To Add - The owner of Clean Slate Waxing Lounge just called me back to clarify. She was able to rectify the situation and acknowledged that it could've been handled differently. I found this place through an Instagram post from a local nurse. I figured if she trusted her skin then that is the best endorsement. I tried two treatments at this establishment. One Friday on a whim I decided to try the lash lift and tint which is totally amazing. I have dark lashes which are extremely straight and thick but the technician made it work! A few weeks later I had a platinum hydra facial to help relieve some of stress my skin was showing from life challenges. I liked the quick action when I asked about add on treatments. My skin looks better and feels better. I kinda wish they would do hand massage or arm massage while waiting for other treatments to take effect. I bought a lip treatment and a travel skincare kit. I have been coming to Clean Slate for about a year and time and time again they have disappointed me/ over charged me for services that I didn't even receive. Every time I have gone in for a wax, I have left very unsatisfied and ended up needing to pluck and finish the job once I got home. I have not left ONCE satisfied with the work that they have done, but I kept going back because I was new to the area and didn't know of a different waxing place to go to. Today was the last straw. I scheduled an appointment for 330pm and while I was on my way, I receive an email saying I've been charged for the services that I haven't even received yet. I call them right away to see what was going on and they told me my scheduled appointment was for 310pm and because I didn't show up I was charged 50% for their services. I explained that I had a confirmation showing my appointment for 330pm and could show them the confirmation as proof, but instead of trying to be helpful and seeing if there was someone else who could see me, THEY REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK AT MY 330PM APPOINTMENT CONFIRMATION AND STILL CHARGED ME THE 50%!!!! The shitty waxing job I can look past, but their lack of customer service and willingness to work with me in finding a solution that keeps them and their customer happy is mind boggling.
