After 2 hairdresser friends of mine bailed on doing hair for my wedding, I made appointments for my mom and me at Salon Bleu for the day of the event. I called about a week ahead and they set us up with simultaneous appointments. When we showed up for our appointments, Stefanie did my mom's hair and makeup and I was led to my chair by my stylist (I am so bummed I can't remember her name!) After offering us water, they worked their magic. I explained that it was my wedding day and my stylist, who was gracious, sweet and very attentive, created EXACTLY what I wanted despite my vague yammerings about updo's and curls. I am lackadaisical about my own hair and pretty much the only styling I ever do is a ponytail. My Asian hair is stiff-straight and hold curls for about 2 minutes before springing back to flat. She created a beautiful half-updo with pinned curls and it looked amazing! Everyone at my wedding kept commenting on how beautiful it looked, and it all took less than an hour. My 'do was secure and stayed awesome well into the late evening. And miracles do happen: I still had curl in my hair even when I woke up the next morning. My mom's hair looked great as well, and Stefanie used all MAC cosmetics on her, which lasted all day and into the late evening without touch-ups. The look was soft and natural, and I was impressed with how quickly she worked. Overall, they get 5 stars for professionalism, speed and friendliness, but I have to take off 1 star for their receptionist. The girl to whom I spoke when making the appointment was vague when I asked about the stylists who would be working on us. I was hoping to have names or portfolios I could browse, some information about what kind of styling I could expect, but she was of no help. There are about 10 stylists who work at Salon Bleu and only the owners and another stylist have profiles on their website. Perhaps that's what I get for waiting until the last minute. The price for 2 updos and make-up came out to $140, which was WAY less than the $450+ wedding hairstylists quoted me. Of course, they travel to you, but I am glad I saved the 300 bucks and went to Salon Bleu instead. read more

Save your money and go elsewhere! Went in for highlights since my regular girl was out of town. Holly was sweet and did my highlights. I was quoted an hour and 45 min and didn't get done for 3 hours. Everything seemed fine until after I washed my hair and realized there were major issues. To name a few, there were bleach stripes, and it hadn't been colored all the way to the root like you expect with highlights. I called the salon and explained what had happened, and sent the stylist and owner pics of my hair. I was given Holly's cell and she immediately offered to make it right by offering a refund as soon as she was back in the salon. I heard from Holly and was told that the salon owner (Jessie) would not allow her to refund me after all, then she stopped responding to the text conversation. I called and spoke to the owner, and she was very rude. Jessie told me feel free to leave a review if I wanted to get the backlash like she did to the other negative reviewers here. I honestly never have experienced an adult or business owner to act like this. and I felt this should be shared (with proof) so others don't have the same experience that I had at Salon Bleu. *My conversation with Holly was all communicated in writing via texts, that I have provided screen shots of here. read more

I highly recommend Amber Ringstad. I had a haircut with Amber several weeks ago, and my mane still looks great! She is always taking classes and improving her techniques. I brought in several pictures how I wanted my hair to look - not only was she a great listener, she was realistic and we settled with a style that would compliment my face the most. As for the salon - very chic. Love the decor and atmosphere. The online appointment system is very convenient especially for a working mom like myself. First off, this is an adorable salon, not right on the beaten path of El Camino Real, it's tucked in behind a cute courtyard. I have been on a hunt for a new hairdresser for the past year and I am happy to say: I found her! I initially found the salon and Aja (pronounced Asia) through a South OC Hot Deals offer, I thought this would be a good way to try her out...And it was! Aja helped me decide on a style and discouraged me from going shoulder length, stating that it might be too short, we met in the middle and the length is perfect and she managed my bangs beautifully. So, now I have a new, springy style, hopefully it will be cute when I wear it curly too...I have a love/hate relationship with my curly hair, I am trying to embrace my curl again...wish me luck with that. Aja was attentive and directive which I appreciated. She clearly loves what she does and she does it well. Bottom line- I haven't pulled my hair back into a pony tail for 2 days...and that is saying A LOT! Such a cute little salon with a super friendly and talented staff!! I followed My stylist Taylor from Carlton to Salon Bleu because she was just that good. She brought my black box dyed hair to blonde in only a few sessions and my hair maintained its integrity! It's currently pink and purple, but she's done a lot of really conservative and "normal" hairstyles for me, too. I added some photos of some of the many hair styles/colors Taylor has done for me. As you can tell, they're all over the spectrum--lots of fun colors, lots of "normal" colors, short hair, long hair, bangs, no bangs. She's the only person I trust with my hair and I'm glad she's at Salon Bleu now, it suits her! Okay, here's the thing -- I've done just about everything to my hair: I've had several drastic, edgy cuts, and I've also had beautifully flowing locks. I've brought in photos of models, rock stars and even anime characters, asking for elements of their 'dos. As for color? That too. Several shades of red from firey to deep wine shades, purple, magenta, electric blue, raven-wing blacks tinted with smart violets, icey to golden blonde and my natural brown, even. My point being, for every crazy beautiful thing I've dreamed up since I was 15 to now (23), my stylist AJA (pronounced Asia) has been able to do. She's beautiful, sweet and has infinite patience. After a bad cut while I was going to school in Santa Barbara, I called Salon Bleu crying and they got me an appointment for the very next day with Aja. Totally worth the 3 hour drive, because she was able to take a too-short cut and transform it into something beautiful, as well as re-dye my hair without damaging it. She uses the best products on my hair and when I leave, I always feel fantastic and get so many compliments, even weeks and weeks after I've gone in! My mother, my sister and now even my girlfriend are clients of hers. Not only do I adore Aja, but Salon Bleu as a whole -- it's sunny, gorgeous and has a great vibe. They have a great vibe in the salon; its super clean, upscale look and feel, cool tunes playing in the background, and typically lots of people getting their hair done. They always include a shampoo and I love how I look when they are finished. Turned out to be the worst experience I have had with a hair salon. This was my second time here and I booked with Tiara. Things were going fine until it was time to dry my hair. She said she wanted to put me under the dryer because otherwise "my hair would pouf". Odd because every haircut I've had in the last 30+ years has been dried by the stylist and has always turned out perfectly, but okay... I'm open to her expertise on this. I sit there for 10 minutes or so and she comes by and asks me if I'm okay with walking out with wet hair or do I want to stay under the dryer longer. Huh? I figured she was putting me under the dryer for a little bit and then finishing it up herself. Okay... so now I'm confused. So she isn't going to finish my hair? She says she has to start on her next client so she takes off and leaves me there under the dryer. And I'm looking at my bangs and thinking they need some touching up. I can't even tell what the haircut looks like because my hair is still wet and hasn't been brushed through or styled or anything... it's just hanging down in this sad way that is half-wet and stringy looking. I resemble a homeless lady on the beach at this point. Let me also mention that I booked today because I wanted to have my hair cut, dried and styled by a pro because I was leaving for a big event that I wanted to look really sharp for. So this totally ruined that for me and I am deeply, deeply unhappy about that. I debated over interrupting her with her client to ask her to at least please touch up my bangs. I decide against it because I don't want to be rude. I get that she didn't want to be late for her client, but she was 10 minutes late getting started with me, so... I don't see why she couldn't have taken me back to the chair, finished drying my hair, brushed me out, make minor touch ups, styled it a bit, put in a little product, given me a mirror so I could actually see what it looked like from the back and asked me if everything looked okay to me. The way every other professional hair stylist has in my entire lifetime. I never even got a chance to tell her that I wanted it dried straight. And most stylists make a few touch ups when the hair is dry to catch things they missed when it was wet. I'm baffled over this. We had typical conversation, I can't imagine I could have said or done anything to have offended her or to make her want to ditch me without providing me the full service I actually paid for. Honestly, I resent that I did pay for something I didn't fully receive and wasn't happy with. It just felt so awkward at the end, I honestly didn't know what to do. I walked out feeling extremely awkward, totally unattractive and deeply confused. It's a one star rating simply because if you can't do the basic things right, nothing else really matters. Excellent! I've been going to Jessie (Owner) for many years. Spending time at any place where I have to sit for a couple of hours isn't my cup of tea but coming here is great. Jessie feeds and waters me while I relax. I don't even have to tell her what I want done to my hair and I have never been even remotely disappointed. In fact, I always leave incredibly happy! Desperately needed my color done for an event and was able to squeeze in here last minute. Jasmine was great! She offered 50% for first time clients (score!) and did a fantastic job. I was looking for strawberry blonde, which is a tough color to pull off, but I loved the result. I've gone back a second time and happily paid full price (which still isn't bad). The salon itself is super cute, it's hard to find though so keep your eye out. It's tucked behind the chophouse between el camino and Avenida de la Estrella. I don't think there's a parking lot, but street parking isn't too hard to find, just watch out for the two hour max during the day! read more

However, the lady that did my hair didn't check to make sure that my layers were even on both sides in the back (probably because we kept talking so much) and I didn't notice until I was home. I don't think the cut was worth the price since my hair wasn't even on both sides in the back, it looked like I tried to cut my hair myself lol. I had to go to another salon to get it fixed. I have been coming to Blue Salon for over 2 years, great staff beautiful environment. I want it to post a comment about a huge disappointment I had with my last keratin treatment. They were running a promotional special discounted rate did the full treatment got completely different instructions on how to care for it and within 2 weeks the treatment did not take. If this had happened anywhere else normally the treatment would have been given again for free it was suggested that I perhaps can consider a different type however. Tiara has been doing my hair for the past year and half, and I'm always thrilled every time I leave the salon! I'm blonde, and she is so great with high-lights: very precise and efficient too. The first time I had Tiara do my hair, I actually got low-lights put in and I absolutely loved that as well. She is seriously amazing, and you will never be disappointed! Sara Miett is AMAZING! I have been going to her since I moved to Southern California back in May. She is a color wiz. When I first moved here I had dyed my hair only once, a lighter blonde from my natural dirty blonde. I wanted a drastic change seeing as though I moved across the country from a small country town. I went in wanting Ombre (a hip style that consist of a dark brown root that fades into lighter shades at the tip). Sara gave me just that! Sara is a perfectionist! She honestly has a passion for color and isn't a stylist that is looking for a quick profit. She will treat your hair like her own and will not stop until it is perfection! The first take on ombre did not come out exactly like we wanted (because my hair, being so blonde was hard to take the color) she admitted it immediately and instead of sending me away and having me come back later, she fixed it right there!
