I was a pro surfer and never highlighted my hair because the sun did it naturally. After retiring from surfing I was still modeling and needed more than a beautiful cut. Called Wheeler Davis and spoke to the owner. Explained my needs, including a color correction and wanted a fabulous longterm stylist to work with as I was modeling. Discovered he booked me with the 'walk in stylist" so I only booked a consult. During my consult I realized the stylist knew her stuff and wondered why the salon wasn't allowing her to build a client base. Well I discovered why when a few months later over half the staff walked out due to poor working conditions, unhappy clients and along with a dose of snooty vibe. I followed the stylist who did my color correction and have been with her ever since. I recently had an appointment with Lo, the owner, who installed extensions for me at a cost exceeding $1,800. Most of the appointment she ranted about the drama within her salon but I had empathy for her and listened with compassion. Eight weeks later, the extensions began to slip. I reached out multiple times to schedule a standard maintaince appointment to move them up and for a color touch-up. Despite calling her salon, emailing multiple times, texting her, DMing on IG etc... I received NO response. Not a single word! This lack of communication was shocking! I had invested a lot of money and felt abandoned when in need of her service. The extensions caused significant damage to my hair causing excessive hair loss and a lot of discomfort throughout the day. I didn't know what to do or where to go because most stylists are inexperienced in her specific technique. I understand that Lo was experiencing staffing issues, but the absence of any communication was both disrespectful and highly unprofessional. It became very clear why her ENTIRE team quit overnight. After 3 weeks of frantically searching for another salon, I finally reached out to Pearl Salon (down the street), where her former stylists are now employed. They squeezed me in and took care of me right away! I was not alone. To no surprise, they had heard dozens of similar complaints from previous clients. As a business owner myself, I NEVER write negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience for potential clients expecting premium service. I accidentally dyed it neon pink (the box said auburn lol) and after literally getting rejected from the first solan since my hair was so messed up, but the Wheeler Davis fam took me in SO enthusiastically SAME DAY and they were literally my first hope of this whole this. They were so sweet a got a literal TEAM together to save this mess. And they didn't just save it but they completely revived it to look better than before, plus an amazing lil shag cut. I recently had my hair redone and my stylist confirmed that my hair had bare minimum done to it and there's large untouched portions of under hair. Considering my hair was already half way bleached & Wheeler Davis charged me $500 which including "extra blonding" but did bare minimum work (only the top portion that shows) this salon is a rip off. Perhaps they should spend less on their marketing and more on their clients. read more

I have to be honest, I'm disappointed. I have been here 2x the past 6 months and tried to book an appointment and was notified the price has increased from $250 to $350 a session. This doesn't include haircut (haircut is $100). So if you want cut and color now it will cost $450 plus tip. I was shocked that they would raise their price so much. So I really didn't want to write a review cause that's really not who I am but after all I've gone through I think I should. After finding Lo Wheeler on IG, I was so eager for her to maybe be my next stylist. Unfortunately at the time she wasn't accepting new clients & recommended I saw Coco. In November, I went & saw Coco. Don't get me wrong everyone is super sweet but I never really felt like anyone cared. I didn't know the salon double booked my first visit & didn't realize that Coco was barely going to do my hair & it was assistants. I felt like after my visit with Coco I had a lot of breakage in my front pieces & top pieces. Me being super sweet, I kind of just let it go and made sure I never double booked again. A couple months later I saw Lo was accepting new clients, it was a dream come true. I was SO excited to get my hair done by her. I ALWAYS do hair consults because I think it's the best way to see if the hair stylist can accomplish what you want & if not offer something different. I wanted to go silver platinum & get rid of the honey in my ends. From what was visible to me, it looked like that was accomplished & I was SOOOO happy. I went to get a blow out from a different stylist & she showed me a huge chunk of brown in the back of my head. I contacted Lo & she explained that my appointment was mostly just breaking up the honey in my ends & that we could fix that in my next appointment. After paying $600 & tipping $120, I was kind of confused to why my whole head wasn't done. But I trusted the stylist and decided to go back again... I returned to the salon in April for a touch up but Lo was barely there because she was doing her prior clients hair just styling it so she could take pictures and I was left with her new assistant Diane for majority of the time. I felt like Lo really didn't care about me or my hair even though I really liked her & supported her. I dont know what it was but I still went back to the salon to get my hair toned. I think I really just hoped for the best & wanted this salon to like me as much as I liked them. This was the last straw. Kristen Force toned my hair & during the service she stopped & refused service saying I have lice. First off, I wash my hair once every week sometimes I go 9 days. Lice love clean hair. & I also blow dry my hair everyday.... don't have kids or go around kids and barely go out to eat however, they refused service & made me leave the salon & go to my doctor. SO EMBARRASSING. Guess what my doctor said I didn't have lice I wanted a second opinion so I went to a lice check place where they perform an extensive search to see. They said I DEFINITELY DID NOT HAVE LICE. Lo wasn't at the salon that day as I think if she was, it wouldn't of happen. But that's no excuse it's her job to educate her stylist on what lice is versus product buildup & dandruff. Lo & Kristin did try to make it right offering me a tone blow out & style for free because of the situation. That was nice of her & I appreciate it. But that doesn't change the fact I spent a week itching all over because of my anxiety, it doesn't change the fact I was so embarrassed & it doesn't change the fact that now I feel so uncomfortable & awkward I will never go back. My hair has so much breakage all over. I use the best products & Lo knows that. So I don't know what went wrong or why they didn't like me & wanted to run me away as a client. I really didn't want to write this review but after a lot of consideration I think those thinking about going to this salon should be aware of WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO THEM. Editing my review because the owner, Lo, reached out to be on IG.. trying to reason with me & get me to take down the review. After not being able to make feel super bad about writing review, she blocked me. Really unprofessional as I was trying to talk with her & allow her to look at things from my perspective instead she just got over it & blocked me. Also Kristen reached out to me & was very professional & I think genuinely sorry about the misunderstanding. Like everyone I wish it didn't have to be like this as I really did LOVE this salon, it's super cute, so are all the girls that work there & they all have good personalities.... I just think something went wrong.... maybe assistants mixed bleach with too high of a volume instead of using a lower volume to keep integrity of my hair. I dont know, I'm not a hair stylist but my hair isn't healthy now. To comment back to Jason (Lo's Husband) I dont know what products Coco could've recommend me using as I have already been using oribe for the last couple years. I have pics of my hair from B4 & After wheeler breakage is OBVIOUS & this was the first time Diane had ever been there. Diane's daughter is normally who assists Lo & she is a NEW stylist..... I went to the salon so excited to have my hair done. I'm a college student who works full-time and I saved up a lot of money to go to a high-end salon to get a quality service. In all fairness, the color was very nice. However the color was started so far from my roots. Less than two short weeks later I had to contact the stylist to let her know that the color was started entirely too low. I was referred to speak to the manager Matt. I finally contacted the salon about three weeks after my original appointment. I spoke with Jason who I later found out is an owner. He told me that Matt was out and would be returning the following week. I did receive a follow up from Matt three days after having spoken with Jason, only to find out that there was absolutely nothing the salon was willing to do for me. Their only suggestion was to return to the salon to do a touch up for an additional $250 on top of the $400 I had already spent for the original appointment. They kept saying that they were notified too far after the original appointment despite the fact that I had notifies my stylist less than two weeks later. They kept referencing the "color" even though I had made it clear it was not about the color, it was about WHERE the color started. Not even two weeks after my original appointment my hair looked as though it had grown out 4-5 months despite it not even having been ONE month. I tried to reason with the salon, but they were incredibly inflexible and did not offer any type of equitable resolution whatsoever. I drove to the salon from San Diego with eager anticipation. They treated me as though I was trying to get something for free which is so far removed from my character it's not even funny. I simply wanted to be satisfied with the service I got from a "high end" salon. Instead I was let down by their unwillingness to work with their customer and their attempts to shift blame to the customer. It's despicable business practice. You learn a lot about people and businesses when they are faced with adversity. Of course they'll be great to you IF you don't complain. But if you are not happy with the outcome, expect them to make every excuse to avoid accountability. It was truly disappointing. read more

Beware this will be a long review honest with detail my situation is a completely diffrent situation then your average . So I came in with " black box died hair" the former employee promised to give me the results I asked for however within several sessions which is complete understandable as to I had boxed dyed hair . But several issues came into place first I walked out and looked the same and paid $540 including $100 tip. Yes, I still tipped because this employee was a mother and I have compassion for others and am very understanding. However , she thought it looked nice and I was scared to hurt her feelings . However , when I got home, I cried . I then texted her and kindly said I just felt like I saw no difference. She then texted me back and said no worries I got you so my heart was at ease . I get no one in this world is perfect we are human we all have bad days we do not work on a robotic system . So I went back a week later. Heather began to strip my hair after the process was going for about a hour she then stated the color removal is on her which runs $1000 but if you want color it will be a extra $350 my heart sank as to I was stuck in a position I had no way out and I already had paid over 540$ but at this point what can I do besides continue and never look back . So she proceeded then stated once again she's going to cover removal which is 600$ WAIT $600????? ((In my head)) you just stated 1000$ 20 min ago. Then proceeded with if I wanted color it will be a additional 350$ . I then said ok once again, at this point my stomach doesn't feel good. It makes me sad when I feel someone is trying to get over on me. Heather is done washing my hair then proceeded to style and as she kept saying how nice it looked. I am not a fake individual and trying to crack a smile as I'm trying to protect her feeling was so completely hard cause I really wanted to burst into tears cause here goes another $350 plus tip for striped orange hair . So I paid . Once I got home I just let her know how I felt. I will include those texts along with photos of before and after both times . She refunded me 300$ then completely blocked me she was not apologetic whatsoever . She didn't care, I was more then willing to give her chances even though it was destroying my hair and willing to continue to pay and tip her well all she had to do was fix my hair that one time as she promised. This review is a HUGE lesson to not only stylists but also consumers as well . Do not take on big projects that you are not comfortable with. Its ok to say no we as clients honestly value your honesty. And in turn you could gain a forever client. We all want a relationship we can TRUST. Clients: set your expectations at bay, don't expect to turn box dyed hair into the photo of the model you choose it unfortunately, it doesn't work that way . However, seeing a change is something you should see and In my situation my hair looked the same after hours of work . And not to mention me driving 2 hours away to get there 2x within a wk and a half time frame . So I will conclude this , Heather took on a big project she was not comfortable with nor had the expertise to fulfill . And instead of saying no she took on a job she knew she couldn't do. If you respect and value your position as a stylist ,greed shouldn't come within. Heather was not part of wheeler Davis she rented a booth therefor doesn't come with the expertise and client care that the other girls were trained to do . She is no longer there so you don't have to worry about this situation at this particular saloon. And now it's rave time!!!! Ok , so I honestly can not put into words how entirely grateful I am for Lo whom is the owner of this saloon . I've never seen anyone bend there back so much to make the situation right. She is extremely busy but got me in ASAP and took time out of her busy life to make me happy she didn't have to she didn't do this to me nor was this her employee. So I honestly didn't expect anything . But she has such a HUGE heart that she did . She dedicated her entire day to me I was there from opening to closing . Not only did I get beautiful hair at no charge she wouldn't even except my tip and even gave me a free conditioner because she cares that much she wanted to make sure my hair had the right products to get back to a healthy state for our next visit . I also learned so much from her aside of her being a master at what she does and caring for others . The positive energy she brings seriously has you leaving thinking. I learned new recipes that would help my son who suffers from chronic eczema, and I learned new things that in turn gave me a better prospective of my loved ones . Jason is so kind , and accommodating to those around him. He greeted me with a personalized menu with my name. And even offered to order me food being I was there so long . The girls are all so sweet and always smiling . I couldn't recommend this place enough! read more

Not equal on any side of my hair, some parts are down from the root and some parts look like I had my hair grown for over a month. Which I waited for 3 months before I get this highlight done so it could have been a very good session. I cannot express what a huge smile they put on my face today ! not only did i had a blast with Lo but she really is the real deal..i read and heard about her talents..educator ..owner..wife and a truly sweet spirit! its no wonder why she is so booked..her team all looked like Victoria secrets models and all of the clients looked so happy!!!!!!! i will keep everyone posted..next week im going back in for some extensions and i cannot to post pics.
