I have been coming to Salon Anu for several years. Joseph is the owner/stylist and is top notch. He does my cut and color and I swear I get more compliments on my hair than anyplace else. He doesn't impose his views on you, like some stylists do - he will listen to you. You don't want too cut much - he won't. Are you sick of your style and need to do something - he can suggest things. You want to bring a photo from a magazine, he will work with that too. He will give you some guidance if he doesn't think maybe it is the best look for you - which I think is what you want - someone who does listen to you but will also share his expertise. My hair color is soft and flattering. It takes very little effort for me to style at home. They do not push the hair products, but if you need something they have some nice product lines. Convenient location. Staff is very nice - I wonder if some of the people with less than stellar comments just haven't connected - I always say hello, ask how their day is going etc. I can't say enough - call them up, ask for Joseph, and let the compliments begin! read more

First of all let me say that this review is well overdue. My stylist Gina has been highlighting and coloring my hair for the last six years. She is so precise and listens to me, which I love because in the past stylist would give me what THEY wanted me to have, and not what I actually wanted. Happy to say I never have that problem with Gina. Whenever I sit in her chair I feel safe knowing that my head is in good hands. I get so many compliments on my highlights, and how natural it looks. It's well worth the commute. Gina herself is always so warm and friendly, you will never feel pressured to get something you don't want ( although i just decided to change my usual cut and get something more "young" , and Gina still did a great job! Got so many compliments!) She looks at you as an individual and not just a customer. My experience with Gina has exceeded my expectations. I couldn't imagine letting anyone else in my head! I have been going to this Salon for at least five years and maybe longer. Just as another person stated, Redouane always greets me with a hug and offers something to drink. He always colors and cuts my hair and always does a fantastic job ! Not only do I get a hug when I arrive, Redouane never fails to give me one or two on my way out the door. Both my daughters have had their hair done by Redouane--one lives in Houston and the other in Rochester,Mn. Both have received complements when they returned home. Because I have been going to this Salon for so long I have also observed the other stylists. They are all excellent! Heidi has been taking care of my eyebrows since she came to the Salon. Also excellent at what she does. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Salon and most importantly Redouane and Heidi. read more

Joseph - the owner - is a top-notch stylist and colorist. I've been going to him for over 15 years, back when he was at Andre Chreky salon on K St. He does an excellent job with thick, wavy or curly hair. He always listens to his clients, he never cuts too much, and he isn't pushy at all. All of the women in my family have gone to him for many years. If you want something slightly different with each visit, he can do that. If you want the same style for 10 years, he will respect that too. I just started coloring my hair a few years ago and it looks better than ever. My husband doesn't understand why I can't use a $5 Clairol rinse at home but I would never take the risk. I just got my hair cut here for the first (and only) time two weeks ago. I haven't had a cut that I've hated this much since I was in high school. It is shapless, choppy and unflattering. Plus, I now have to keep these hideous bangs pinned down. If you're looking for clean, modern cuts, this is not the place for you. I did notice while I was there that I was the only client at the time under the age of 40 so it's possible that they specialize in haircuts for a different demographic than I would fit into. I'm definitely bummed to realize that I need to either hold out and see if it looks any better upon growing out or pay for a second cut to improve things now. That being said, the staff are relatively friendly so the experience itself wasn't bad, just the end result. read more

Two years ago I was in Ballston waiting for my girlfriend to get out of work and randomly stopped for a cut at Salon Anu, I have been going there ever since. I get my haircut by the owner, Joseph. He does a great job. He is the first hair stylist in Arlington that explained to me about how my hair grows, what suits me best, etc. Aside from the haircut, it is always a great conversation. The salon itself is nice, the front desk has always been friendly and helpful. Everyone I encounter at Salon Anu has been pleasant. I typically get a regular haircut and wash. It runs about $40. I would never spend that much on my hair before I became a regular at Salon Anu. The quality of the cut and the positive overall experience make it worthwhile. read more

I have been going to salon anu for a really long time. And i'm really satisfied with filiz and how she blow drys my hair. she did my wedding hair and did a wonderful job. I was really happy. She does good highlights, blow drys. The salon is just really positive and well opened. They serve me anything i want. Also the owner is really nice and they serve wine, coffee and tea. But in the end i walk out happy with my fantastic hair. Joseph is again really kind and he always says hi and asks how i am doing! The price is worth it and in the end my hair comes out really good espeacially with the highlights and blow drys filiz does. Heidi also does my eye brows and does a fanatastic job. read more

I love Salon Anu and leave it to Filiz to cut and color my hair. I have been going get my hair cut and highlighted at Salon Anu for years and seeing Filiz for even longer. I followed her to Salon Anu. Filiz always does a wonderful job! The first time I saw her she repaired a bad color job I had a different salon. She fixed my bad color job and my damaged/dry hair. I trust her completely with what to do to my hair each time I come in even when I am not sure what I want! I think the salon is fun and friendly. I always enjoy coming. It is also conveniently located next to the Ballston metro. I highly recommend Filiz for color and cuts. She does an excellent job! read more

I'm so happy I found this place! I booked a hair cut with Christopher based on the other reviewers' experiences. He was very attentive and completely achieved the look I was going for. He is a perfectionist and wants to make sure you are 100% satisfied when you walk out the door. Everyone I talked to at the salon was super friendly and helpful including my stylist (Christopher), my hair washer (Lupe) and the receptionist. The only negative was the cost: $65 for a haircut. However, if this is the price it takes to get good service and a quality haircut, I think it's worth it. read more

I've been going to Salon Anu for years! Gina did my hair for my wedding and Redouane has cut/styled/colored my hair more time than I can count! :-) It's always such an easy, comfortable, fun experience with everyone. Redoune just did a mother/daugther cut for us with my little girl who just turned one...and he so took care of us!! He was great with both our cuts and it was all sorta impromptu. Everyone at this salon makes customers feel so welcome. From the moment I walk in, everyone is doting on me, taking my coat, asking me how I am, offering me something to drink, etc. The ladies who wash hair are warm and friendly. The receptionist is always happy and in a good mood. My stylist -- Redouane Kadmiri -- is excellent. He always does a great job. I've been going to him for over a decade! I have been going to Salon Anu for the past six years and have seen Redouane for all of that time. He does a great job with my painting and hair cut. My hair comes out looking great each and every time and because he does painting and not foils, I don't have to go as often. The salon itself is very nice and I continue to enjoy the overall experience there. (Great products, friendly staff, curren magazines to read etc etc). I've been going to see Gina at Salon Anu for nearly 6 years now and I couldn't be happier. She is friendly and sweet and works hard to make sure that i am happy. (And I always am!!!) She also is very flexible and has been able to get me in on short notice. this is the BEST hair salon that i have gone in my whole lifetime. filiz you are AMAZING. when i walk in the door to salon anu i know im going to leave bueatiful. filiz is that best highlighter ever! and i loveloveloveloveeee rakida she is amazing! she is nice kind and not mean :-). and i also lovee the shampooist. there sampos are like the spa at pales hotel in miami :-). there is no better place to go then salon anu. its clean, the works are nice. and everytime i go in i fell like home. :-) read more

I am a regular customer of Lily's. I have been very pleased for the 10 years i've been coming to her. I always walk out of the salon feeling gorgous :D I get my hair cut and I have never been dissapointed with my color and highlights. She is very polite. I highly reccommned her and she is well worth the price. And turns out she's mulit-talented too! I went back to Salon Anu last night and had another great experience with Christopher. He gave my hair a perfect trim and did a great job of cropping the back just how I like it. Also, he used a really cool hair "painting" technique on my hair that I have never had before. It's basically like getting highlights without the foils. After reading these reviews I decided to give Salon Anu a shot. I had highlights done by Christopher. First off, I felt very comfortable the entire time I was there - everyone was down to earth and nice. Christopher listened very well and put noticeable consideration into the colors he selected for me. My hair turned out great!
