Absolutely loved my visit to VoStyle! I hadn't dyed my hair for a few months (albeit my last dye was only on the bottom half of my hair...which I had cut off a week before coming here) and booked my appointment with VoStyle on a whim. The staff was all incredibly friendly and talented; they helped me decide on the right color and style for my needs, and they did a phenomenal job executing on all of my requests. I had a balayage and blow-out color, and the entire ordeal took about two hours. After blow drying my hair, they also gave it a quick curl. My only complaints about VoStyle came from the days before my appointment. I had originally booked an appointment for 10 AM on a Saturday, but they made two phone calls earlier on in the week -- one to confirm the services that I had requested and another to ask to move my appointment to 11 AM. The request to move my appointment was the slightest bit unprofessional, especially because I still had to wait about 35 minutes after my new appointment time to actually start on my hair, but it wasn't too big a deal at all. All of the staff members are incredibly sweet, and I definitely plan to come back here in the future for all my hair needs. read more

I only asked for a haircut, but Eve was so nice and did the washing, blow drying and styling as well! I'm very happy with the result. I feel 5 pounds lighter! Also it's my first time curling my hair - I've always had it straight and it's nice to have a change. Happy customer all around and will come back for coloring! I called and made an appointment, showed up 5 minutes prior to appointed time, was asked if I had an appointment, said yes, then was asked to wait. 20 minutes later, I'm told by the stylist I have an appointment with that they can't cut my hair and maybe I should ask the other stylist who was in the middle of cutting someone else's hair. I don't think it's common practice to walk around a salon asking stylists if they're available to cut hair, so I walked out. (There was no person at the front desk.) I'm giving them 3 stars because I did have good cuts twice there before, which is why I went back. BUT after driving there, paying for parking, and then being made to wait for 20 minutes before being told by the stylist that they're not available means that I won't risk going back there and wasting my time again. Appointments need to mean something, and if you accidentally double-book someone, you need to let them know right away instead of making them wait for 20 minutes and then asking them to find a stylist on their own! read more

I booked with the owner, based on a recommendation. I show up and am sent to someone else. I didn't exactly know that is what was happening until it was too late because today was my first visit. The stylist I was sent to is a nice person, but not who I booked with and consequently I did not get the cut I wanted. Further the cut itself is uneven and much heavier on one side. After I pointed it out, Gilberto tried to fix, and it became clear that his continuing to fix would just botch the cut more. I'm not happy. I confronted the owner about being pawned off on someone else as I was checking out, he explained he "typically cuts mens hair." Sure. What he didn't know is I was explicitly sent to him by a female client of his and I'll never be back. He asked if I like my hair. My reaction was, "sure." What are you going to do now dude: It's short and the wrong shape. Trying to fix the shape will only shorten it more. I paid 80 plus tip to get f*cked. Don't go here. There are much better places in the neighborhood. read more

I've been seeing Luciano for a few years now (and a pinch hit cut from Eve when he's not available) and am always extremely pleased with my cut. I look forward to the shampoo and scalp massage before every cut and then when the cut begins, Luciano does the most detailed job I've ever had; who knew the detail you could get down to for a guy who just does a simple cut. My work schedule is pretty hectic so I greatly appreciate him being flexible with me. Also, he's very personable, so during the cut the convos are great, but also is completely fine when I've got to focus on work with via my phones. Some stylists would get offended because of this, but not Luciano! I highly recommend Luciano and the rest of the Vostyle crew. Enjoyed my third trip to this salon today. I had Kara give me a hair cut and she did awesome! She's really nice to talk to and gave me good hair advice. She did exactly what i asked for and even fixed some of the damage a previous dresser had done on my hair! Highly recommend her :) The only thing negative about this place is the cost. I think it is overpriced. The service is great don't get me wrong. But when I went to pay this time, the man at the register seemed confused on how much to charge me and asked what I'd been charged previously. It made it seem like there went set prices? He ended up charging me $75 for a trim...there wasn't a place to add a tip so I hope that a good amount of that goes to Kara. read more

Luciano is very talented and goes above and beyond to make his many clients happy. He is an expert at his craft and a genuine person who makes everyone that sits in his chair comfortable. There is rarely much of a wait, the cut itself is efficient (despite my challenging, thick/curly hair) and I'm always pleased with the end result. I have been to this salon probably 5 times in the last couple years. I've been hesitant about some of the "practices" there, but in the past, have always left with a good color/trim from Redouane. He's very fun, but can be pushy about services, not taking your opinions, and steam rolling you to upgrade to more expensive services. This last appointment solidified my hesitations. I went in for a trim. I told him I didn't want color because I've been working hard to keep my hair healthier, especially at the front of my face where there's damage. Redouane insistent he do a "flash color" (which is a technique I've only seen/had done at this salon). He ran off to get the color and it was like I had no voice- he was coloring my hair. As soon as it was washed out (after processing for a couple minutes), I could tell it was not my normal cool blonde, but a brassy yellowed orange color. Fast forward, I emailed twice with no response, and finally went in (exactly 4 days after my appointment) to kindly ask for a fix. I've never asked for a redo on my color, but I had many people comment on "the dye job". Redouane wouldn't hear me when I told him my concerns. He ushered me quickly outside with a mirror, insistent the color was fine- but then also said it was my fault it turned orange because I didn't use purple shampoo. I've been blonde my entire life and have never used purple shampoo (but I do understand the importance for it). Instead of hearing me- he tried to get me to buy shampoo from him. My fault for not listening to my instincts, yes, but not how you treat customers when they have a genuine concern about their color. And you definitely don't ignore them when they say they don't want a service. read more

Luciano and his team are amazing! I typically go in for a root touch up, but never want my length touched. This past visit I went in saying I'm sure I'll regret this and it won't look amazing, but chop it all off. I gave Luciano some photos of what I thought I wanted and the key points that were important to me, and he blew it out of the water. It's short enough in the back, has layers, and cascades down in the front around my face. I've gotten so many compliments on how sassy and professional this cut is. Thank you, thank you, Luciano! If you've never been, definitely request Luciano or Kara. I've only worked with them before, but they are both so meticulous at what they do and the best to chat it up with. First time visiting this particular salon today. Was very pleased with immediate greeting I received from Radwan and Lina! My stylist, Radwan, offered me a variety of beverages. The salon was very clean and not over crowded or congested with 'stuff'. I also loved the fact that I was not over pressured in regards to buying products as some other salons tend to do! I am client of Ellis Moody, VO Styles resident makeup artist. Always the consumate professional, Ellis can transform not only how you look but also how you feel in only a matter of minutes. As someone who does not typically wear make-up I didn't have a clue about shades, highlighting, or even how to put on false lashes so Ellis' knowledge and skills were a breath of fresh air when I first met him (formerly with NARS cosmetics at Pentagon City). It was also nice to have an artist who understands his craft and listened to my needs and wants to create a look that I was comfortable with, without overdoing it. I still don't know how to apply false lashes, but he has taught me a lot of simple tips and tricks to maintain on my own, but for any occasion I will be back in his chair. I came here after I bought a Groupon for a single-process color. My big dreams and aspirations included my hip length dark brown hair with highlights to become a gorgeous shade of bright (almost fire engine) red all for the price of the Groupon. Well, that rarely ever happens and I've accepted the fact that no one is going to do my hair for $50. There's just too damn much of it. I dont think you understand: I am a hairdresser's worst nightmare. I've box dyed, had highlights, color on top of color and I never have any clue when any of that happened. Enter Rami: Who I am convinced is a mystical genie of all things hair. He took my hair from brown to light, fire engine red WITHOUT bleach in under 3 hours and with minimal to no damage to my locks. In fact, it feels healthier. I am so amazed and SO SO happy. Did I get it all for the low, low price of a $50 groupon? No. But here's the thing: Rami worked with me and my budget so that I was satisfied with my color AND my price. He didn't have to do that, and I think it says a lot about the pride he takes in his work and his salon. I felt so good after, I went out and got TONS of compliments. I went to Vostyle after moving here and left the appointment in tears. They booked me with a female named Eve, and when I showed up no one was there except Redouane. Fine, I sat down, and immediately noticed that he was flinging my head around like a rag doll. Also put a towel over my eyes when washing my hair and pressed down on the towel, which hurt. Scrubbed my head so harshly it hurt. I don't know if he had no idea how to cut women's hair or what, but he knotted my hair just to cut off the knots. I asked for a straight cut, he gave me *single* layer, I say a *single* layer because rather than doing nice layering on the bottom, he just cut my hair two different lengths. It looks nothing like the picture I showed him, and it's much shorter. At one point he had me flip my hair upside down and just started cutting. I noticed when I got home that it's completely uneven. I'm not usually a dramatic person and I've never posted a review before even if I was unsatisfied with a business, but between the haircut and the fact that he was throwing my head around (not asking if I could move one way or the other, just pushing me) I literally walked out of there feeling like I had been assaulted. Amazing salon! Everyone on the staff was so nice and friendly and I was warmly greeted as soon as I came in. I've been unhappy with my hairstyle for a while and I messed my color up with a box dye. I asked Redouane to work his magic and I am ridiculously happy with the results. He gave me a wonderful, light and bouncy haircut. I have been seeing Redouane for several years and he has only gotten better! No man knows hair like he does and he is an expert on color and techniques such as ballayage and keratin. In fact, he is so good that I brought along my fussy husband and it has become a regular visit, even though we moved to DC. I also recommended him to a friend suffering the aftermath of chemo, and he turned her life (and hair) around with his comprehensive knowledge of that subject. He is also an expert on children's hair, and regularly cuts autistic children. Redouane also travelled across the river during the pandemic, and ended up cutting the hair of the whole household, from teens to adults. Mixed with this thorough expertise on every form of hair, he is also a remarkable, caring human being. Visiting the salon is always fun and he lays on treats like coffee and chocolates. If I could give zero stars I would. Literally the worst hair experience of my life. Went in for just a quick color retouch because I'm about to be out of town for three weeks. I have been essentially the same or very similar color blond for 30 years. Discussed that the retouch wasn't really needed just yet but with going out of town in a few days, better to get it taken care of now. Looked through the color book of hair samples to make sure the blond was the correct shade and not too ashy or too orange. Decided on the color that was a fabulous match to the tips of my hair. As Redouane was putting the color in my hair he started rubbing it all over my head and I thought that was odd for a root touch up. Normally you would only put color on the roots. He then had my hair washed and when I sat back down in the chair I immediately said, 'why is my hair so dark?' I've seen my hair wet for years and I know what color it is supposed to be when wet. Redouane said, 'trust me'. He started blowing it dry and it was so dark!!!! So I stopped him and asked why am I brunette he said it looked good on me. I said I didn't want a change. He said trust him I'd like it. I said no, I want my hair color back. So he said he'd highlight it. I said highlighting brown hair will look like a skunk or zebra if you just take chunks and highlight them. He said not to worry, I'd be blond in no time. But highlight the chunks is just what he did. 3 hours later, I walked out with an appointment for the next day to 'fix this and get back to blond'. So the next day I show up. I show him ten pictures of myself from the last 4 weeks from weddings etc that I've been to reminding him what my hair color looked like yesterday morning. He said not to worry and to trust him. He then put multiple chemicals on my hair, said it was like chemistry but I'd be back to how I was in no time. An hour and a half later he starts blow drying my hair and it's dark again. I started crying saying 'why did you change my hair color, I am leaving town tomorrow for three weeks and I don't know when I can get this fixed'. He said he was sorry but there was nothing more he could do. Two days, over five hours there and my hair is nothing like it has looked in 30 years, looks nothing like what we discussed, looks nothing like my photos and now has never been more processed. On my way out he offered to pay to get my hair done at another salon to fix it. But I had to get get it done and bring him the bill. Utterly the worst experience I've ever had with my hair. And two days, over five hours and my hair does not look remotely like it should. I would NEVER go there for color!!!!!! read more
