Let me tell you, I think I finally found my new salon! This little gem came recommended to me by a friend and I am so happy I made an appointment! Let me start of by telling you that I have some bad experiences ever since I relocated to Md. from Va. I was originally driving back down to PWC Va. going to my regular Salon but it became tedious to do plus my stylist moved to Cali anyway. So, I tried a few ppl where I live in Gaithersburg but they just didn't work out. Either the job was BAD or the price was outrageous or BOTH. So I gave up and let my natural color grow out. BUT...I've been really wanting copper and I needed a cut, so I finally made an appt at Dazzle. I am so glad did, because my color came out beautifully! I can not be happier! I travel from NW DC to get my hair done. I love the color that Issa does, it's the perfect shade of purple for me. He starts at 9 o'clock so I can still have the rest of the day even though it takes 3-4 hrs to get it cut and colored. Also, I have gone to other salons, and the dye comes out on my pillow. This does not happen when Issa dyes my hair. Beautiful cut and grows out to still be styled well. Free parking is also a plus. I highly recommend Dazzle. read more

I have been wanting to come here since I moved here last year and it did NOT live up to the reviews. I'm going to break it down as much as possible. Pros: *Issa did great color on me. I happy with the color! *I was able to get in fairly quickly! *Price was decent, I have paid more for my long hair. *$250 was my total for balayage and haircut. Cons: *His son was there, which I completely understand during these uncertain times! *However, when your child is screaming for over two hours on how he was hungry and starving, is not ok! His son was literally yelling "I'm hungry papa!" "Did you forget my snacks!" "Papa, I'm starving!" Issa's, father, reply: "I'm almost done!" He was putting the foils on me, which took about 2.5 hours. Then he went to go get food for his son. I even offered a granola bar, but he said he had nut allergies, which again, I completely understand! But I don't understand why you don't have everything you need for your child as they come to work with you! *So as you can imagine, this ruined the experience. As when the child was fed, he ran around the salon jumping, yelling, playing his video games, just being loud. With no mask, may I add. **The MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT I HAD ASKED ISSA WAS TO NOT CUT MY HAIR TOO SHORT OR HAVE IT SIT ON MY CHEST, MY BREAST AREA!!! I had told him this about 5-6 times!! I'll come back to this! *He is rough when washing your hair. I think my hair was caught in his watch a few times which pulled my hair. *I blew dry my own hair, I offered, but that's because he had other clients come in and I was already there for 5 hours!!!!! *now back to my haircut. I even stopped him mid cut and said, I think it's getting short. His reply was no, I'm cutting your layers, it's long in the back. I said ok, but I don't want it to sit on my chest and I showed him again where I didn't want my hair to sit. *Hair is all dry and boom, where does my hair sit? On my damn chest!!!! He then thinned out my hair as it looked super heavy, which did make it look 100x better! He cut about 6-9 inches off!! So for all those wondering to go here, my answer is only for color!!! Do not let him cut your hair! He did not listen! I worked extremely hard to let my hair grow out, over a years worth, to be butchered off! My final result looked nothing like the pictures I had shown the stylist. I asked for a caramel balyage and received an auburn/purple color in highlights. Stylist was also very rough handed and pulled and yanked on my hair throughout the wash, brushing, and blowdrying although I had mentioned this to him and I know he observed me grimacing at the sharp pain. I think the stylist lacks in coloring knowledge and should not agree to results that he cannot attain. I unfortunately got my hair done on the day of an important event and had no time or energy to ask for a re-do. After a couple of days I went to a different salon to have my hair colored back to my natural color. I feel extremely frustrated that I wasted my money on something that damaged my self confidence and virgin hair. read more

First time visit = Highly impressed. I would not have expected such great service from what looks like a hole in the wall salon. Upon arrival, the owner and primary hairstylist, welcomed me and checked me in quickly. He asked me to sit on a chair and I shared what kind of cut I wanted and he listened before making his recommendations. He looked at my hair and saw that I had gotten a very basic cut with no style previously (obviously, I went to Bubbles) and he said he would make it better for me. I got excited and with reason because a good friend recommended him. He washed my hair super well and then took me back to his chair to divide my hair. I've been getting my hair cut for many years now and with different stylists, but my hair has never been divided the way he did it. It was different but I trusted this was gonna be the way to make my hair have nice layers. He snipped away and I loved that he kept my length but made my hair look so healthy. Blow drying = amazing! It's been a while since I've gotten my hair blow dried with so much passion and ease. Reminds me of the Dominican blowouts from NJ, where I'm from. I mean, just look at the attached photo, my hair looked amazing! It's been 4 months since my visit, already planning to go back, and my hair still looks healthy! My hair is just growing super fast because "I'm with child". I understand not everyone's hair is the same but I am so glad my first experience was successful enough to get me to go back. If possible, I'd give this place no star. Worst hair cut and balayage. I'm utterly disappointed as he completely butchered my hair. I initially went there to get a balayage and have my orange root get darken, however, it has gone 180°different from what I had envisioned in my mind and told/showed him how I want my hair to be. Not only he did a bad job coloring my hair, but also he played with my hair by cutting it uneven like this picture shown. Issa bleached my hair twice. When he first bleached and toned it, my hair turned smokey grey, (don't even think or dream about brown highlighted balayage), on top of that, there was still ORANGE color left on my crown. He blow-dried my hair thinking he is done ( + shamelessly saying "it looks good, beautifully blended). I said, " I'm not happy about this orange color, I was hoping you'd get rid of it since the root went black and the rest of the hair was smokey grey). Then he said, "after the second balayage when you come back next week, it will be gone." WTH, right?? After sitting for 4 hours, the result is orange hair. Why would I come back to sit hours and pay $190+ to get rid of that orange hair? As I was not blissful which showed on my face, he insisted on doing the bleach AGAIN. I was compassionate towards him as he stood for 4 hours to do the job, I told him not to let him stand another hour to fix the color. He went and mixed the bleach and said "sit, it will take 30 min to get rid of that orange". I hesitantly sat and waited for him to finish. It took an hour and after that, my hair was completely FRIED and FALLING when I just comb it gently with my fingers. I almost CRIED and paid what he said and left. After the second bleach, there are still some orange spots. You don't imagine how Issa's wife/coworker's temperament. She was angry, scolding, and yelling in her language (not English) in front of the customers at Issa and her little boy the whole time since they started bleaching my hair. Who knows if she was cursing me. It was unbearable. They both were very careless and harsh when doing my hair. They unbearably pulled my hair while combing, coloring, bleaching, washing, and blow-drying. My scalp still hurts now. I presumed he would be sort of competent and skillful at his job after checking his reviews on Google and Yelp so that I tolerated this ABUSE for hours hoping the hair result would be great. But now I contemplate and process what just happened at the salon, I shouldn't have tolerated this INSULT and left early before he bleached my hair the second time. Will never go there again. I leave this review as I warn his future clients. DO NOT GO THERE if you respect yourself. read more

I have been coming to Dazzle Salon for years and I've had most of the services they offer. I cannot praise EISSA and HANAN enough. I would give them at least a 100 STARS! Every time I come to Dazzle Salon I feel so comfortable and I have absolutely no stress. I come here to relax and forget about everything. Now for the cut, color, keratin, highlights etc absolutely exquisite. They are consistent with the services they offer and they listen to their clients. HANAN coloured my hair and it was perfect. A couple of weeks later Eisgave me a perfect haircut and today Eissa coloured my hair and it was perfect. It pains me to write a negative review; I like to support local businesses and I'd hate for my words to be the reason why a hard working person loses money. That being said, I feel compelled to share my experience so others can carefully consider their salon choice. Yesterday I received an awful haircut from Issa that has me seriously considering pricey extensions in order to retrieve some sense of normalcy. I entered the salon with long hair, half way down my back. I left with a short, choppy, uneven mess. I explicitly told Issa that my hair needed to be able to be pulled back into a low bun, a requirement for my profession. While the longest layer can be pulled into a small nub at the base of my neck, the bulk of my hair doesn't fit into either a low bun, or high pony tail, with pieces falling out every which way. When Issa finished cutting, his assistant (wife?) blew out my hair. When she finished it was clear that one side was noticeably longer than the other. She pointed this out to Issa and he returned me to his chair, and continued cutting. The photo below is the final result, after Issa finished fixing it. Note the unevenness, and pieces that barely make it to my mouth. Note the short chunk of hair near my ear. I gave a second star because Issa and his assistant were both very kind. However, I won't be returning and I encourage others to consider my experience prior to choosing Dazzle Salon. read more

Although I've walked by Dazzle numerous times, I never considered going there, mainly because I thought it was a strip club. But signage can be deceiving, and I'm so glad I let the reviews convince me to get my hair cut there. It's right in the middle of all the restaurants on 23rd Street in Crystal City, which is very convenient and easy to find. As others have said, the inside is clean, but simple, and not pretentious. It's not the kind of place that will give you complimentary tea while you wait, but I'm not at a hair salon for tea, so that's fine by me. I got a great haircut from Isa. He was pretty quick, but very thorough and focused, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I only got a trim, but I've had plenty of trims in the past that went horribly wrong. I'm not sure if he gave me a new customer discount, or if this is the regular price, but it was an even $35 to cut my long hair, and he said men's haircuts are only $20. Isa owns the salon and has for 25 years, so I also felt good knowing that my money went to support local business rather than some big corporation that stiffs its stylists. I also got a good pedicure from Mia, and it was only $20! I had no idea you could get a pedicure that cheap anywhere in the area! A few cons: 1) They either don't have a receptionist or the receptionist was out this week, which meant the stylist and nail tech had to stop several times during my service to answer the phone. 2) Like I said before, it's not fancy, but it definitely has a certain charm to it, and if you're just concerned with getting a great haircut without judgment (I can't stand judgmental stylists!) you will be happy. Living in DC, nail treatments can get expensive - especially for a guy. I can't get into paying $30 and up for a basic pedicure! So when I found out it's cheaper on the other side of the moat, I went to check it out. Definitely worth the price - $20 for a peddie, and $10 for a mannie! The nice part also, is the peddie spa chairs are in the back in their own room, with their own flat screen TV, and rear entrance, if you so desire. Parking lot also! A rare treat in DC! My technician was friendly and thorough. However, if she is busy, you might get a rush treatment, as i have only seen one person available to do peddies on the weekend. I chose Dazzle Salon because I went on Yelp from my apartment and it got the best reviews in the area. I must say, I am hooked. CLEANLINESS: The inside is very clean (which is important to me). No hairs or mess- they keep it tidy and and there is noticeably always someone sweeping up. PERFORMANCE: Again, being a girl who is extremely picky about my hair, I would not have gone back to this salon if my hair didn't come out PERFECTLY. I told him exactly what I wanted and he exceeded my expectations! I asked for just a trim and to dye it the darkest color possible. After my first appointment, I got compliments all week. He was very attentive to what I wanted and took pride in making me feel good about my hair. PRODUCTS: All the products high end; Goldwell or Paul Mitchell which makes a huge difference too. SERVICE: Trying a new place can be daunting, especially if you had good chemistry with your previous hair dresser. I felt so comfortable talking to him and I really enjoyed our conversations about travel, music, restaurants etc. -- they are also very flexible with scheduling. I had to rescheduled my last appointment twice and both times they were very accommodating to my needs. PRICING: Being from Boston, I think the prices are very reasonable and even a little low for the high quality they provide. I told them I would pay $250 in Boston for his services which cost me only $120. OVERALL: Clearly I am very pleased with this salon. Really, you had a rough shampoo? Aww... sweetie. Here are the important things: Issa is a talented artist. He's extremely good at what he does, and he can do it expertly and efficiently. I went in for a short, multi-layered style. I described what I wanted in about a sentence and twenty minutes later had the perfect haircut. Issa will not gab at you but will speak to you graciously if you speak to him. So if you are looking for a luxurious spa experience, go get a pedicure. Came here because the Groupon deal and despite some of the comments about the rough handling off the stylist. I won't lie, I wasn't a fan of my head being shoved and pushed to his liking so that's probably a reason I won't come back but the cut is good. He gave me his honest recommendations and it turned out great. There's no courtesy in this salon. He passed me and another client off to another stylist for her to finish his work (blow-drying and styling) to move on to the next client without a warning or a heads up. The other girl stylist that blew off my hair couldn't style my hair.She was nice but what she did looked nothing like the picture I showed her. I'm just glad they blew out my hair. There are reasons for this rating: For the barber: 1. It took the barber no more than 20mins, maybe only 15 mins to cut my hair. He cut so quickly. When the result turned to be so bad, he can make almost no more changes. I understand ever barber has his/ her working style. But I wonder if he should think about the process more carefully. That is also a way to show responsibility for the job. 2. The way he cut my hair was so rude. His hand was almost hitting on my head and my front head turned to be red after I left the place. I have never met any barber cut in this ridiculous way. For the woman who gave service there： 1. She never smiled at me and acted like she was the customer. 2. When I told the barber I was not satisfied with my hair cut, she laughed at me, saying: "of course she is not satisfying, look at her pretty face." I found Issa's Salon over 20 years ago, when I worked in Crystal City. That has to say something about his business, there is longevity for a reason. Issa is a professional and a master at color, he's like an artist! Issa has been cutting and coloring my hair for over 20 years. My hair is always rich in color and the cut is phenomenal. Issa is quick, efficient and very friendly. Additionally, his lovely wife Hannon has been a great addition to the salon she too is very hospitable and friendly. Oh no. A bummer to excitedly head over to see sweet Issa, but this time was a true disappointment. The price is cheaper but this time truly showed why. I had color on my hair for a max of 15m after all foils were applied and after the wash, I knew it was bad news even looking at the wet color. My pictures don't do it justice, but I thought I would attach for your viewing. My roots look Worse than when I went in, they are anywhere from 1/4 to a 1/2 inch from my scalp making my roots hideously bold. The color, oh my color - it is yellow from not leaving the color on long enough. Shimmer lights doesn't even help, and now I have to go have my hair re-highlighted and toned. Yay! I'm a fan - a very picky fan! I have long hair and got a full head of highlights, cut, and style (JUST $120!!!) IT IS PRACTICALLY ROBBERY TO GET SUCH A NICE HIGHLIGHT AND CUT FOR THIS PRICE. Salon Cleanliness: Fantastic. Floors, mirrors, sinks, carts, and hair straighteners were clean, hairfree, and uncluttered. The capes they used had cute patterns, the hems did not itch my neck, and most importantly, they were stain, chemical residue, and stray hair free! Every salon should be clean - my standards of clean often EXCEED that of a normal person by leaps and bounds (simply ask the man in my profile pic, haha). I was impressed. Decor: Simple and minimal, but not cheap. The predominance of white and silver gave the already sunlit salon an air of lightless and couture. I do not need glitz and glam to be wowed, but I was certainly impressed with the simple elegance. Furniture: COMFORTABLE. I'd give these chairs 8 stars. The Wash: Fairly average - until I got a feel of the woman's fabulous nails. I'm a firm believer that women like their heads scratched, too (Let's think about returning the favor, eh guys?). Water temp was great, not a single drop got onto my clothes or smudged my makeup. At the end the woman also was sure to towel off my nears and get any water that splashed into them out - another fantastic extra mile that is not taken at cheaper cutteries. The Highlights: I'm a blonde with natural honey low lights. I went in for platinum highlights which I think round out my "look". Issa nailed it. I walked out feeling as though only the highlight-diva would recognize them as "man-made". The Cut: My hair is admittedly easy to cut - I wear it long, straight and un-layered. I was happy with the cut, and particularly pleased with the angling and blending around my face and jawline. The Salonitude: Friendly, professional. Not overly chatty, which I liked. I prefer my hair be the focus, not the chit chat. I felt welcomed, unrushed, and the busy salon was clearly running smoothly and in an organized manner. Walk-Ins: Good luck! 2 men walked in while I was there. One was deterred by the hour wait, the other patiently sat, took off his tie, and settled on the couch with his blackberry. My only con is that whatever Paul Mitchell product went into my hair before the blow-dry made it gummy. Whatever shine enhancer was used after the straighten smelled AMAZE-fan-TAS-tic! Visited Issa twice - he is exceptional - friendly, accommodating, and the result is a gorgeous blowout.

I came to Dazzle after friends highly recommended Adil. I had to break up with my former stylist, as he proved several times that he did not know how to layer the back of my big head. Not only can Adil cut hair, but he actually puts thought into your hair style BEFORE you come in for the appointment! He is an artist, not simply a hair designer. Nice guy, too! I cannot comment on manis/pedis....just the hair side of Dazzle. In addition, Issa does my highlights and seems very competent and skilled. The Salon has free parking in the back and is accessible by metro (Crystal City).
