So all is I am going to say is after moving to the area and leaving a stylist in Oregon who I loved and who ALWAYS got it right... I struggled to find that same here. The stylists, although craftsman in their skill, just weren't hearing me, the color was not what I wanted and the $$$ spent trying to achieve it!!! It would have been cheaper to fly back to Oregon....until I found Randy! Randy is simply the best! I started seeing him about four months ago having never colored my hair before, and what he's accomplished is better than I could've dreamed. Before any dye touched my hair, we had a thorough conversation about the color I was going for, looking at reference images together, etc. He is a joy to spend time with, and he does a fantastic job of explaining what exactly he's doing to my hair at each step. I ask a lot of questions during my appointments and he always seems so excited to share his knowledge of and passion for hair! Randy is a genius. He gave me the cutest bob that is amazing when blow-dried straight, but equally awesome when air dried. He gave me a blunt cut, no layers, and somehow, instead of looking like a weirdly lumpy pyramid, my hair looks pretty AF. Two thumbs up! My experience with Randy was the best I've ever had with a hair stylist/colorist. He was extremely collaborative, gave honest advice and recommendations, and took the time to get to know me and my hair well. He explained the "why" behind what he was doing, which is both rare and so appreciated. I came to Randy at the recommendation of a friend and was absolutely pleased. I'd been going to the same salon for awhile and wanted a change. My friend recommended Randy and I decided to give him a try. I made an appointment for a hair cut and blow dry. Appointments are definitely recommended. For starters, his approach was different than what I was used to. He sat down with me and talked with me about my hair. He listened to my comments and questions and gave me his opinions. I didn't feel pressured to go one way or the other which I appreciated. After talking for a few minutes I was sent back to get my hair washed. Randy then worked his magic on my hair. I typically have long hair and decided to cut it short (for me). I ended up with a variation of a lob and loved it! I've gotten compliments from friends and family! I had an appointment with Kambiz at the salon. I wanted to start growing out my grey hair, but I didn't want that harsh delineation between the new grey and the old, at-home box brown coloring. He's great with color, cut, and specialty treatments. He's done various keratin treatments on my hair with incredible results. He has also magically transformed my brassy orange-red-brown mess into rich dark chocolate brown. I've seen his balayage work-- gorgeous. Randy is a perfectionist. I just had my first appointment with Randy, and I am so glad I did. I wanted something different to enhance my current hair style, which was a bob, bordering on a lob. I was feeling bored with it, and wanted more volume and pizzazz. I have always been intrigued by balayage but had never gotten it done before. Randy was awesome because he helped explain exactly what he would do before he was doing it and while he was doing it. This way there were no bad surprises at the end. Randy has been doing my hair for over six years and not once have I ever been disappointed or felt it was just ok. I mean, there's a reason I left my old salon to follow him to his new location at Studio Salon and Spa! After every single appointment with Randy, I leave with a smile on my face, walk down the street with confidence, flip my hair, and feel happy! I have long, fairly curly hair and lots of it that I've colored for years. It's extremely important to me that my hair remains healthy and looks shiny and classy, not bleached and frizzy. Randy his highly skilled in his coloring techniques and takes the time to explain what products he uses on my hair and why. He offers recommendations but knows exactly what I like. He knows I like to be blonde, and we have a system down. Sometimes I want a full foil of highlights with some low lights, other times I feel like I just need a little push of brightness around my face so he'll do a face-framing with only blonde foils to get me through the re-growth period until my next visit. Sometimes, in addition to the usual bright blonde I like, he adds a shade of blonde a little darker that gives me so much demension without doing a dark low-light. I absolutely love it. The point is, I can tell Randy what I'm in the mood for regarding color/cut, sometimes it depends on the season, and he just says "got it." I've had less experienced stylists do my hair in the past, but always saw an area in the mirror later where they messed up...like missing an entire spot near my roots. Girls who color know re-growth happens quicker than we like sometimes so to walk out of a fresh color with dark roots from the start annoys me. Randy pulls the foils tight and gets the color as close to the scalp as he possibly can. He also takes great care in pulling thin sections of hair rather than bug chunks, which give more of a striped looked, and he knows I don't like that. If you like a bolder contrast of color he'll be happy to do that for you, but I prefer a more subtle difference in the demensions. He will not take short cuts and takes great pride in his work. He's honest about what will work and what might not work for certain hair types and that I appreciate very much. Go see Randy. Randy is one talented artist! He has been my go to hair stylist for the past 7 years. I have curly/wavy hair and Randy successfully guided me thru my short cuts to the longer hairdos. He recently started coloring my hair as well and I love it. He helped me pick reddish shades for the low lights and they made a huge difference. He listens to you but will tell you when you are heading in the wrong direction...and I have strayed many times. Randy is a true color artist! I have been trying FOR YEARS to find a colorist who could get the orange tint out of my hair. Let me start by saying I am new to the area, and it was his great Yelp reviews that brought me in. His clients don't exaggerate. I had the feeling I was in good hands when he spent a half hour talking to me about my hair, how it got to where it is, and what I want. I have a tricky situation - my natural hair is very dark, and I have a lot of gray at the temples and around my face, but I like a lighter color all over. After really listening, Randy suggested a root touch up to better match my real color, and high and low lights. I have never been as happy with my color in my life - not a hint of orange, but pretty and subtle highlights in shades of light brown and dark blonde to add dimension. Oh, and a great cut too!
