So my last hair stylist ghosted me and I needed a cut and color badly. I've been in Reno for 2 years now and haven't had much luck with hairdressers. I reached out on yelp and I received some phone calls to the point I had to turn some people down. I thought it was wonderful to get so many responses. I finally chose a salon that was close to me, which I have never had one as close as this place. I got in with Charity and was really relieved when she started telling me what she could do for my hair. She's very knowledgeable about hair and different ways of fixing my hair. Place was very clean and lot of things to sell. I am paying more but it's so worth it to have someone who knows what they're doing. After walking out of 523 I felt like a million bucks. read more

I loved the service that they had! I came in and didn't have to wait, I had booked with Danille and she was already ready for me. I had shown her a picture of what I wanted, I had this yellow looking blonde on the front of my face and some highlights and wanted to get rid of it and make it darker but not too dark to where I look pale. She looked at the picture and gave me her opinion on what she could do to make it look exactly like that and that was what she did ! She also gave me a hair mask to soften my hair and some tips. The vibe of the salon is just great , they have a mini store at the front where you can buy hair products, hand creams, necklaces, key chains and for winter they have some cute beanies! read more

First, if possible, I like to give positive reviews to be helpful to businesses and to the Yelp community. However, sometimes that isn't possible. I chose to make an appt at this Salon as it is close to home. (My regular, terrific stylist has needed to take an extended leave from her biz.) I made an appt here couple of weeks ago, not knowing the stylists. My stylist was Stephanie A. I came in for what I described as a "cut and color". I had some good close up photos of my "usual" very good hair color / cut to show her. Stephanie was pleasant. However, when I went home and took a good mirror look at the back of my hair. I was shocked to see that the bottom 20% of my hair was left uncolored! I have naturally salt / pepper hair and the color was sort of soft charcoal / brown w/the grey clearly visible. I have no idea how I left the salon that way -- did I not ask for nor take a good look at the back of my hair prior to leaving?? I sent a text to Stephanie about this and she offered to re-do my hair color. However, I didn't have faith in that outcome so I asked for a refund. To her credit, Stephanie did at least send me a partial refund. I've made an appt at another salon and consulted w/the stylist. She was quite surprised as well that an obvious portion of my hair had Not been colored. So, I will need to take my time and money to have a complete hair color / style re-do. This salon may be great and it is so close to my home. However, there was a definite deficiency in my salon service there...(PS: Just make sure you take a good mirror look at the back of your hair when you leave the salon. :) ). read more

I see Chloe, here at this salon and she is amazing. She's literally the sweetest human to talk to and she does wonders for your hair. I like to have an ashy tone to my hair and she always gets it perfect. Her salon is also very nice, spacious, clean and quiet which I love. This salon is beautiful! The boutique has so many cute accessories. Clean environment and the stylists are wonderful and do beautiful work.

I contacted them through Yelp and I finally heard back asking for my telephone number so they could call to arrange an appointment. I never heard from them. I also called to make an appointment and waited for a call back, but never received one. Either they are too busy to be bothered returning calls or they do not want/need new clients. In any event, I was able to get in at another salon, and will not attempt to contact Salon 523 again. read more

Just moved to the area. Don't really know who or where to go for a haircut. My father in law actually recommended Chloe and I absolutely loved her! She was fun, energetic and made my hair look absolutely beautiful! She not only made me feel welcomed but when she saw my 1.5 year old she made his day too! Loved her and made my next appointment already! I highly recommend her. The salon itself was cute too and spacious. They carry R+Co products which are amazing and hard to find, but downside is they require 48 hour cancellation,(which I was not told at booking) so when I cancelled more than 24 hours the stylist said I had to pay for my service due to them missing out and not being able to fill chairs that easy since Saturday is super busy, but if Saturdays are busy I would assume you would have a waitlist. The call rubbed me the wrong way but they seem to be a good salon, clean and good stylist overall but won't be giving my business anymore. read more

It's difficult when moving to a new area to find a stylist. I'm the type that when I find one I love, I faithfully stay with her for years until I move to another area. I googled Salon 523 and didn't find a lot on it, as it's a relatively new salon, but somehow I ended up on Heather's Instagram page of before and after work. It looked like she's great, so I got an appointment with her. She gave me a cut and highlights. I'm perfectly happy! Even though I am just in Reno for the summer, I plan to return to Heather whenever I'm here visiting family. She's awesome, and I really like Salon 523. Some cool things about Salon 523: fresh baked cookies, plus they offered me my choice of coffee, tea, wine, or mimosas!!!! Gotta love that! read more
