I'm really surprised that Sally's Beauty Supply does not carry basic essentials like weave thread, curved needles, and braiding hair. These are staple items for protective styles, sew-ins, wig installs, and braids things customers expect to find in a beauty supply store. It's disappointing to walk in and realize they don't have the core products needed to actually complete a style. These items are not specialty or hard to find; they're everyday necessities for a huge number of customers. Sally's carries plenty of products related to hair care, but not the actual tools and supplies that many of us rely on. I hope they consider adding weave thread, sewing needles, and braiding hair to their inventory, because it would make shopping a lot more convenient and keep customers from having to visit multiple stores for basic hair needs. read more

Ive been coming to this sallys since i moved to Long Beach and never had a problem until yesterday. I came in to do a return without a receipt, which I've done before using my sallys account, and the cashier told me they could only do an exchange because ididnt have the physical receipt. I went home to look for my receipt and couldnt find it so on my way back i called customer service and a different sallys location which both said i can do a return to the original payment method using my sallys rewards account. When i went back to this store the "manager" (tiny little bleach blonde girl) said that it doesnt matter what they say because at "her location" she wouldnt accept a return without the original receipt and i could only do an exchange or get a merch card. Only after i mentioned customer service she said this would be the only time she would allow the return but that both customer service and the sallys in Lakewood were giving me incorrect information. So make sure you get your receipt emailed or if they give you a hard time call customer service to get your receipt emailed or to create a case number so the store has to call customer service where they will approve your in store return using your sallys account and not the original receipt. read more

I placed an order online, which was a horrible experience! Called customer service to get assistance.. I was told that the items need to be placed online when in actually I could have gotten it in store! Then, when going to pick up my products, I noticed I needed a 20 volume developer, so I asked if I could switch it out from the 10, and I was told no. Even tho it was the SAME products! I've been here fairly regularly and never left a review but I'm tired of this location. It's a shame because it's only a walk from my apartment but every time I'm there, I leave upset and uncomfortable and I'm over feeling that way about a business. Firstly, the manager is very rude and pushy -- even when I've only put in online orders to pick up, she is rude and rushing me out as if she has other things to attend to in an otherwise empty store. Almost every time I shop, I'm followed around the store and asked several times if I need help. I don't. I've been doing the same thing to my hair for months. I've got the routine. I'd be in and out in 5 minutes if I wasn't stopped and harassed every minute. I pay for all of my items. I even use your basket. What is the issue? The one time I asked for help, because I wanted to do something different for my hair, the employee with the brassiest, untoned, uneven bleach job I've ever seen told me that I should just go to a professional. Honey, I am the professional. I get the most compliments on my hair that I cut and dye myself. And I'm very certain 98% of your clientele is in there doing their hair themselves too. Nobody wants to pay $500 for a cut and dye with the risk they might not like it when they could instead pay $40 with the risk they might not like it with only themselves to blame. At the end of the day, it's just hair. I was already planning on doing it myself, might as well have just helped me out or gave me some direction but instead I decided this place is dogspit and left. This is a practical location for me but unfortunately they are always out of things I need. I thought the store was closed due to the front appearance and almost drove away. The customer service is either good or non existent. Today I walked in, no hello or welcome. One lady was on her phone texting and the other one was standing there staring at the ground. I didn't look around cause they were 2 children playing and TOUCHING EVERYTHING without being watch over by the adults who they were with (2 different set of parents ). The little girl was walking up and down the hair color section, touching every box then touching the floor/her face/the bottom of her shoes and doing the same routine all over again. The little boy would run from one aisle to the next, as if it was his house, almost running into me with his parents being oblivious. Even tho I been coming here for 20 years, I think is time to upgrade to a store that is stocked, has customer service not just cashiers, and that they take more pandemic precautions or takes the pandemic seriously (cleaning the cash register/touch pad between customers. Should be taking tips from the Marshall down the street that has an excellent cleaning procedure and way more customers than this tiny store). Omg! Went in there the other day and I was shocked to see this person working at Sally's. Her eyes were huge, she looked scared, and looked very very high on meth. She didn't know what she was talking about, couldn't even put a sentence together and was making very fast jerky movements. Okay, customers service was terrible. Whoever was working Friday 8/13 at noon, needs more training or needs to be let go. I hardly go in as it is but had time to go during my lunch to look for a last minute nail monomer. As soon as I walk in, the girl who "greeted" me was on the register chewing gum out loud, scrolling through her phone and didn't even make eye contact when she greeted just stayed glued to her phone. I would rate this as a better-than-average Sally Beauty Supply in the Long Beach area. Over the past week I have gone to this center and the one downtown. This center appears to be a bit larger. Sometimes Sally Beauty Supplies can be hectically organized, but this place seemed to be in order and I could easily find the products for which I was looking. I had a question about leave-in hair conditioners and one of the staff members was great in helping me pick a product. When I was ready to checkout I did not need to hunt for an employee - someone was already at the counter and ready to help (excellent). One snafu was that their credit card machines were down when I went to check out and i did not have any cash. The clerk who rang me up did try calling in to get it processed by the credit card company before mentioning a local ATM. I appreciated her effort. This Sally's location is in the shopping center right by the traffic circle in Long Beach. This was my first time coming to this store and I was very happy with my experience. I came in looking for new hair extensions made out of human hair. I called ahead of time to make sure that they had extensions in stock; the girl I spoke to on the phone was very nice and told me that they did have what I want. There was a very extensive section of hair extensions. They is lots of variety with colors, lengths, and prices. One of the employees helped me find extensions that exactly matched my hair. She was very friendly and did a great job helping me pick out what I wanted. Although I came in just to buy hair extensions, everything else looked well stocked and clean. I will definitely be coming back to this Sally's location for my future beauty needs. Parking is usually pretty easy in this parking lot. It is not an overly busy shopping center. read more

I have been dying my hair for over 10 years and dying my hair unnatural colors for about 5 of those years. For those of you who don't know, dying your hair a bright unnatural (think blue, green, pink, etc) color requires both a lot of bleaching and a lot of maintenance. Since I'm not rich and can't afford to have my hair dyed professionally as often as it would need to be, I have become rather adept at doing my own hair. I've been going to this Sally's Beauty Supply for years in this effort and the employees here have been unfailingly courteous and helpful. I am always greeted when I walk in. Most of the time I know exactly what I need and exactly where it is, since I've been shopping here so long, and don't need their assistance in finding anything. On the occasion that I do need help though, they often offer it before I've even had to ask for it. They have always been very knowledgeable and are able to answer questions about their products in detail. When I recently decided to switch leave in conditioner brands, the woman helping me was able to suggest other ones and tell me why they were a better choice. They have a broad arrays of nearly any beauty product you could need. The prices are regularly below what you would pay at a Walgreen's or the like, and when you sign up for the Sally's Card, you get an even better discount. They also have generic versions of the brand name stuff, but I personally don't like them. I'm not normally a brand name snob, but there are certain things that I feel you shouldn't skimp on if you don't have to and frankly, I'm vain about my hair. (Hey, just being honest) I do have friends that use them without complaint though. My one gripe about Sally's is that the only quality punky color line that they carry is Manic Panic, and they only carry reds, blues and purples. I get everything else to dye my hair here, but I have to order the actual dye on the internet and have it shipped to me, which can be inconvenient. Other than that, they're awesome! read more

I really like this Sally. The customer service is personalized, attentive and prompt. After a few visits they greet you by name and know what you are looking for. I have natural hair, it has specific needs and is coily, curly dense but fine. They pointed me toward products for curly hair I would have passed on as "white people hair stuff," and it works wonders! My curls routinely draw compliments and appreciative glances and it's the Sally house line (Ion). At $8.99 vs $22 for the last product I used I am more than pleased. The only reason they got 4 instead of 5 stars is a quibble. The sales associates know I'm a nail polish addict and offer to call me when the next seasonal/limited edition collection comes out. Yet they always forget/never do. That is a big pet peeve, don't offer if you don't mean it. I was highly aware of the store hours which had me rushing to head over to get my products. I arrived at the store at 7:52 and the store was close at 8 PM, the guy said I literally had two minutes. Not checking my time I said no worries that's all I need I got back to the counter with five minutes remaining. I made a comment saying I didn't literally have two minutes. I completely understand that we all want to leave on time when our shifts are over but there was no need to rush or close the door before closing time. And not only that but call me a lady with the attitude. I would have had a different response if he welcomed me to the store and said friendly reminder we have about eight minutes before closing time but I was immediately told you literally have two minutes as a greeting . I will maybe continue going there because this is my local Sally's but to the guy that gave me the attitude because I rushed in there trying to get my products please be aware of how you speak to your clients. I have been coming to this location for years, never ever have I experienced such rude customer service, my daughter and myself have a Sally's discount card and wanted to use one of the coupons, like any other customer we try to find the best deals, my daughter gave her phone number and had a 20% off but myself I had a 30% off so of course we wanted to use that one well Michelle that was so called helping us was extremely rude about is using my 30% off and was acting like I was taking 30% out of her pocket.. she gave us our total and then proceeded to do other things around the counter, my daughter was waiting for the credit card terminal to prompt her to put her card in but nothing was indicating to do so. After waiting a minute or so my daughter asked do I insert the card? So Michelle said rudely yeah, and my daughter said oh I wasn't sure because there is no indication to do so, then Michelle says (once again with an attitude) it doesn't do that anymore all while fiddling with other things around the counter. I wish I got her name she took her time to ask me if I needed help and actually listened to my needs and found me exactly what I wanted. The day I stopped in the credit card machine was not working, so the line was very long and took longer than usual. Anyone paying with an ATM or CC was not a very happy customer. For what ever reason that day I happened to have cash, I never carry cash. The girls at the register were working as fast as they could but people were still walking out because of the wait.
