He told me it was doable, so based on that assurance, I paid a $100 non-refundable deposit to move forward. From there, communication was rough. Scheduling the actual session took a long time and required multiple follow-ups. There was also no design review, mockup, or finalized concept shared beforehand--I was told the design would be done once I arrived at the studio. When I showed up for my appointment (about two months later), things immediately went sideways. The sketch he showed me was completely different from what we had discussed. When I expressed concern (because this is something going permanently on my body), he started scrambling to redesign it on the spot. After over an hour of sketching, he then told me that my original idea wasn't really possible and would "look bad"--which directly contradicted what he told me during the initial consult, before taking my deposit. At that point, I felt uncomfortable moving forward and decided to leave to think it over. A few days later, I reached out explaining that since the tattoo concept I was promised wasn't actually feasible, I'd like my deposit refunded. Since then, Julian has gone completely silent. No response. No explanation. Nothing--despite multiple follow-ups. This feels incredibly unprofessional and, frankly, shady. Clear communication upfront would have avoided all of this. I would not recommend Julian or Alchemy Tattoo in Nashville based on my experience.

I purposely go in to most shops in lazy day off clothes because I want to be treated like the average person who runs into a store so I get an authentic experience... and boy did I ever receive it! However, I'm not sure what screamed thief about me to whoever was watching within the first 30 seconds of me entering the store but I'd love to hear back because I was so annoyed and made to feel not welcome I left with only half my shop completed and without purchasing all the items requested. Maybe give a customer more than a few seconds of standing in the beauty aisle before assuming they're stealing because you're chasing away customers who are probably actually there to spend money.
