The scents in the store are also natural and light, not overwhelming like some others. It's called "whole body" for a reason because you can find things for you from head to toe, insides and out! I was mesmerized. And realized that the Flintstones vitamin I take daily probably isn't sufficient! Haha. This store is a genius idea by the Whole Foods kings. Walking in here I am immediately overwhelmed by everything I need to buy. My toothpaste/blush/face wash/candle isn't organic! Can you help? They can... and more. There is an extensive selection here, far more than in a normal Whole Foods, which I think is fantastic. Their cosmetics, cleansers (of all types), oral hygiene, vitamins and supplements fill aisles and aisles. My favorite highlights: medicinal herb bar. Yes, you read that right. You can buy bulk herbs here that are medicinal in property (culinary herbs are across the street). I picked up lavender, rose hips, loose tea, and marshmallow root here... there's tons more to pick from and can be very affordable when you're only buying what you need. Soap bar: you can slice your own size of soap. I think this is completely awesome for those like me who want to try new scents but don't want to commit to a $5 bar. Enter soap bar. If I remember correctly, there's also a bubble bath bar or something you buy by weight as well. The only real downside is par for the course at WFM- price. I've been here a handful of times, and while the selection of items is ok, the customer service is TERRIBLE. Every time I've been here, I've never been greeted, or asked if I needed assistance finding anything. I've worked in retail before, and have always made it a priority to be friendly with customers, while also offering assistance if I see someone struggling. One time, I was browsing their essential oils for a solid 20 mins trying to find a particular scent, and not one of the employees approached me to ask if I needed help. When I've asked employees questions, or asked for their assistance, I've been met with an attitude, and I get the vibe that I'm an inconvenience to them. All that to say, shop local businesses because you'll more than likely AT LEAST get a friendly greeting when you walk in the door. read more

Whole Body is essentially an expanded collection of all the non-grocery items you can usually find at Whole Foods. A separate store front across the street from the Green Hills Whole Foods store, this shop contains all sorts of earth-friendly goodies for adorning or nourishing your body - organic clothes, shoes, books, accessories, cosmetics, vitamins, etc. At first, I was completely taken in and thought this was pure genius. On second thought, though, it does lead to some inconveniences. For example, you can buy baby bottles, bibs, clothes and even toys at Whole Body, but if you need diapers, you have to go across the street to Whole Foods. Also, after our trip to Whole Foods, we had to go over to Whole Body to get throat lozenges. This isn't necessarily a complaint, just an observation. Probably I've gotten too wrapped up in the whole instant gratification, one-stop-shopping culture and could use this opportunity to stop and smell the roses...or the incense, as the case may be. read more

This place is reminiscent to me of all the middle class hippie health pharmacies back home, of which I was always a fan. You have the phosphate-free cleaning products. You have the detoxifiers, the anti-oxidants, the organic clothing, the pretty soaps, the cleansers, the refrigerated probiotics, etc. Essentially, it's that little set of aisles that you would see in stores like Whole Foods contained in its own store. When I looked at Whole Foods at their bulk products and couldn't find what I'm used to seeing in my previous life (tea, spices/herbs, etc.), I found a little bit of it here. The selection isn't extensive, but there is usually something you can find. I was actually thrilled to find burdock root and sassafras here, at a few dollars per pound. Back where I used to shop, the $50 per pound was a huge deterrent. [I wanted to make my own root beer.] The prices here are actually quite reasonable. I was shocked to learn that Whole Body even existed. I am originally from Georgia and Whole Foods there has everything in one store. There is no Whole Body. Some Tennessee law governs this from what I understand. But I digress. Whole Body is great. I think the clothing (made from 100% organic cotton) is a little pricey for what you get. I can't justify $50 on a pair of cotton pants that are down the street for $30. Organic or not! There are more vitamins, supplements, and other health care aid products there than you could name. Some seem a little hokey to me. But, you can also find your normal Vitamin C, multivitamins, and the simplest of supplements. I have taken to popping a few (natural) pills in the morning, and I really do feel better! I get them all here and have had nothing but a good experience. They even give you a slight discount if you don't need a bag and carry your puchases. Go Green! This store isn't cheap. But, they have great sales when you catch them. Today the fish oil I take (gotta coat the ole tum tum) is normally $12 a bottle and it was half off today. Not bad! They also have a host of skin care products and even a make up line. I'm not sure I buy into all of that, but if going totally organic is your thing, they have what you're looking for. Some of their skin care products are wonderful, others have a strong herb odor. If you need help and a good employee is there, this place can be a great experience. They kept running out of things like neti salt and probiotics (the brand I use) regularly. I finally switched brands to solve that problem. Every time they ran out, they acted like it hadn't happened before. Instead of ordering more or getting some from another WF. Whole Body is the little sister store to Whole Foods grocery, and it is the only one in the whole Nashville area. They have all natural beauty products, and supplements galore. The shop itself is really attractive, the walls are all glass, and the lighting is very bright. Everything has a really clean vibe. I guess that is to make you feel good about paying top dollar for your vitamin C. Really though, they are dedicated to having products that are known as quality and organic, so you can be sure that what is on the label is what is on the inside of the bottle. I was really skeptical about taking the personal products and stuff out of Whole Foods and putting them in a separate store. Since my kids are little, I need things to be pretty simple and checking out twice is definitely not simple. However, I have to amend this and say that I can see why they have done it. There is a lot more mulling over of products to be done when it comes to personal hygiene, vitamins, etc.. and a grocery is more of a grab and go kind of deal. It is a little More stressful to sit in a crowded aisle and smell shampoos. Whole body is definitely designed to be more relaxed and it allows you to not get that panicked feeling that you need to keep moving. They offer of course full line of personal care products as well as vitamins and elixirs. They also offer cosmetics, fragrances, hand made soaps, etc. They have environmentally friendly clothes too. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and I typically get a lot of the Whole Foods 365 brand products and I am always happy with them for the price. With that said, it's still kind of a pain to have to make the extra stop but it is very nice in there so I think it's worth it. read more

This place has gone down since I last went there. I don't know what happened here since the end of Spring, but I cannot find anything worth going there for any more. I know Whole Foods has been having problems with their stock price, so maybe that has something to do with it. With the Christmas shopping season coming up, you'd think they would want to sell some nice stuff. Their clothing prices have gone up to where they aren't worth even looking at. Their bath and body stuff has gone downhill, and their jewelry lines have been replaced with garbage. I won't be shopping in Whole Body for a long time if ever again. This is the first Whole Foods I've been to in which the vitamin section is separated from the food section. Although I could rant about corporate green shopping, I'm not going to. I shop at Whole Body frequently, they offer a wide variety of stuff that I can't get at smaller places and many other Whole Foods for that matter. Whole Body is is practically it's own store. It is also the only place I've found so far to buy lavender flowers that you can actually cook with (they're located in the bulk herb bins right near the entrance). Parking on the weekend in Hill Center is a nightmare but I find before 9am on Saturdays you hit up the hot breakfast bar (which is cheap-o by Whole Foods standards) then saunter on next door to Whole Body to shop for your health products including shampoos, toothpaste, essential oils, incense, baby foods, face stuff, vitamins, powders, potions and lotions. They also sell clothes, make-up, candles, books, water bottles - great last minute gift items if you need something before the rest of the Hill Center opens up. I'm pleased to say that Whole Body also sells some locally made things from businesses like Thistle Farms, Branch & Blossom and Alchemy of Sol. (Just an FYI if you use Tennessee made Buried Treasure products, they are cheaper at Turnip Truck.) read more

Whole body, like Whole Foods, is the kind of place that puts you immediately at ease and makes you feel one with the earth upon entering it. They carry organic clothing, more earthly type remedies, baby apparel and toys, earth shoes, protein powders, oils, papyrus cards, fancy smelling soaps, facial care products and so much more. If you are looking for a store that draws in your inner hippie, Whole Body is definitely it. However, I will say that they have a large stock of earth type apparel, accessories, and other products they don't really have a great variety and a lot of it is overpriced.
