Our two cars have gotten to the age where they need more tinkering and replacement parts. We are so glad we decided to give Scott a try. Saline Automotive Services is located in downtown Saline, just west of the main intersection of Main Street (US-12) and Ann Arbor-Saline Road. Scott is a parts expert. He is great at explaining what's wrong and how to fix it. Since it's a smaller sized shop, don't expect to just show up out of the blue. It's best to call a day or two ahead so that the work can be scheduled. You can leave the car any time--even at night--because there is a drop off box. Inside the box, you'll find an envelope with a pen and a form to explain the symptoms. Put the key in the envelope along with your info and let it slide into the box, where it's safe. Because Saline Automotive shares a parking lot with a church (my church!) they ask that you pick up your car promptly on weekends, since the church might have an event that causes the parking lot to fill to capacity. Insider Tip: Usually, if there is going to be a big event, you'll see a portable sign for it on the front lawn of the church. But not always, so keep that in mind when figuring out when to pick up your car. Saline Automotive doesn't have a shuttle vehicle, but they offer you a loaner car, which might be even better. Scott's prices are awesome. When Goodyear quoted $515, Scott's guys fixed it for $299. I feel very confident that the guys will fix what needs fixing and keep our cars running fine. read more

So much for supporting local businesses! I called the other day about my exhaust and he gave me a rough price, but needed to see the vehicle and wanted the vin #. I had it checked out by someone else so i called this place back to let them know what the problem was and was going to give him the information he needed. Wednesday I took my car in because the heating wasn't working. I had taken my car to this shop once before for a $350 coil change and everything worked fine. I was told it was the radiator, (my car is a 2010) and this was the 2nd place to tell me the radiator was cracked so I went ahead and had it fixed. The rate was expensive but I'm sure by the book and when I paid it was still less than the estimate, at a final of $750. I drove the car Saturday and Sunday (total 60 miles or so) and on Sunday as I pulled into the gas station many people came up to tell me that my car was leaking. As I took a look down my car was BLEEDING coolant at the radiator end of the hose. My coolant reservoir is in the corner by my steering wheel, and the bleeding was in the very front. I took it (slowly) back up to the auto shop so that they could fix it as since I was in Wednesday and it was a hose into the radiator it must be that they just didn't fasten something tight enough and in my mind if you don't fix it right the first time then you make it right, FREE. I was called Monday morning and told that the hose would be $40 ($20 online) and the cost of service wasn't estimated yet. At that point my head exploded. They wanted to charge me for something that should not have happened, and due to (in my opinion) something they had just worked on on my car. I couldn't believe it. After arguing with them and being told that A) what happened had NOTHING to do with the new radiator put in, B) the hose must have blown because the new radiator was creating more pressure, C) they were doing me a huge favor not charging for service, and that D) "People die all the time and feel fine 15 minutes beforehand", I gave up and agreed to pay for the hose and they agreed to not charge for the service. I just wanted my car fixed and to never have to deal with them again. When I picked it up as soon as I turned the car on the 'Check Engine' light was on. REALLY? I couldn't believe it (again). I took it up to O'Reilly's to see what was going on. I'm lucky that the guy working there told me that it was just the history showing the coolant was low, which was what I took it in for. Before I left we checked everything under the hood with a visual check and looked at the coolant. Hardly filled back up. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. My experience must not be like others as my review is the first bad one I've read, but this ruined my trust and I will not be going back. read more

I just found our permanent mechanic for my parents' vehicle. I was afraid of having to service the vehicle in Ann Arbor, but instead found Saline Automotive. I decided to try them since they had other positive reviews online. I asked Scott to replace the serpentine belts, evaluate transmission fluid residue on the pan, and also inspect the A/C refrigerant. We were prepared to pay a small fortune, but we were charged only for the belts. The transmission fluid wasn't leaking; only a fastener needed to be torqued to spec. Scott said we could postpone the A/C work to spring/summer so we weren't charged for the inspection. Pricing on the belt replacement was better than I expected. Next time Scott services our vehicle, I will leave a twelve pack in the car for not shaking us down like our Mazda dealership. read more
