I'd like to say that no pigs were harmed in the making of this review, but with our three swine-based plates, unfortunately that wasn't the case :) After our awesome experience at Salinas, I'll surely be returning back to sample some other tasty animals! For starters, my friend and I snagged the pork belly and the bacon-wrapped quail off the tapas menu. The pork belly - served over squash, roasted garlic, and a vinegar reduction - was crisp on the outside, but tender and melt-in-your-mouth juicy on the inside. As for the bacon-wrapped quail, the bacon was both crisp and practically fused onto the quail leg....this was PERFECT. Far too often, when a place offers bacon-wrapped anything, floppy bacon is loosely attached to the "host food" and once you cut it with a knife, the whole experience is lost. For entrees, my friend went for the steak special - a 9oz ribeye cut into tender slices and garnished with a delicious and creamy sauce drizzle. My slow-roasted suckling pig was the show stealer however - beneath a layer of crispy skin was a bed of super-tender meat that was so soft, it actually put the previous pork belly appetizer to shame. On the drinks side, they've got a healthy cocktail list with a nice cohort of bourbon-based beverages. I went for the sweet-ish La Campesina, which came mixed with lavender honey syrup and Carpano Antica vermouth. The food and drinks, while a bit pricey, are well worth it, but the atmosphere and service here really bump the whole experience up a couple of notches. First off, there's a nice rustic-meets-classy mix of exposed tumbled marble, polished wood, and smoky mirrors that really set apart the vibe inside. Indirect lighting splashing the walls makes eating and looking around an easy task while still allowing for a dim, date-friendly spot as the night carries on. They've got a lovely back garden area beneath a retractable roof, but the inclement weather that evening kept us from getting a chance to experience the open roof. Our server Brian was spot on, food runners fully described the dishes as they came out, waters were topped off and napkins even re-folded when one of us left for the bathroom. Donald, one of the owners, made the rounds, checking up on the tables and ensuring that everyone else was having an equally positive experience. I really enjoyed dinner at Salinas, and look forward to returning when the weather heats up so we can take advantage of that open area in the back! read more

If you like very good Spanish food at high prices served in tiny portions amidst beautiful decor with draconian rez rules, Salinas is the place for you. We scored a table in the coveted back garden room, beautiful intimate space with pink roses and low lighting. Seating was tight with low tables/booths packed together, and the room got noisy as more people arrived. Service was friendly enough. We both started with signature cocktails; mine was pear-based Reina del Huerto, delicious but barely filled to 2/3 of a small glass with a large ice cube taking up much of the real estate @ $18.00. Pulpo con Palomitas appetizer with crunchy topping and squid ink was very good; creamy croquettes were tasty but miniscule. Hubbie's lleuva rice was good but skimpy portion served in a very shallow tin dish. Advertised duck ingredient was invisible to the naked eye. Branzino special was more generous and scrumptious, crispy skin covering tender white meat nestled on a layer of creamy potatoes. Disappointed at their service. The restaurant forced us to do prix fixe menu for a party of 5. Fine. Then I confirmed with the restaurant several times before the dinner saying it's for a girl's graduation celebration. Then towards the end of dinner, the server just put a candle on our dessert without writing anything on the plate, and asked us "it's for a birthday right?" It wad so awkward. We sat at the outside (it was supposed to be a garden type open area, but the weather was not great enough that day it was covered) but it was still really nice. Tbh i wouldnt mind sitting outside or inside, both sections are decorated with fresh flowers, and the ambiance just make you want to stay there forever. 1) We started with the iberico, dry aged, server was so nice he recommended that pricier one instead of the cheaper option, and that was the best decision ever. the iberico was truly amazing we were so tempted to order another one, but we had to save space for the paella. The fat of the iberico is amazing, it literally melts in your mouth. i would come back to salinas anyday anytime, just for that iberico 2) paella. the minimum order is two persons, so we did that, and oh my god, that was so huge! we wanted to order some other dishes to try but after the paella got here, there is no way we could stuff ourselves with any extra dishes. Salinas is like a rollercoaster: you have your ups and downs; your thrills and delights; and you leave feeling grateful for the experience, but you're likely to try something else before returning to the same ride. To begin with, the space is far more lush inside than what you'd expect from the relatively nondescript exterior. Moody, dark, and sensual, it would make a great date destination based on the ambiance alone. The service, however, is really difficult to describe. The staff were equal parts ultra-involved and lackadaisical: Exhibit A: our beer bottles were served with the labels thoughtfully arranged to face us, as though we were being presented with a bottle of wine. However, the wine glasses (that were originally on the table) never got removed, even though we indicated that we were only having beers. Exhibit B: Our server was very adamant about serving our paella. And how. Clearly, he was quite practiced at the theatrics of spooning rice and shellfish onto plates. Here's the mystery: he was infinitely attentive when it came to ladling out more paella, but he didn't notice that another server had taken the boy's shell rubbish bowl away and not returned it... until we finally had to ask later. The bottom line is that the food and ambiance are faultless. But along with those aspects, I'd expect the servers to be on their game, too. While the incidents cited above were mild glitches, they stood out like sore thumbs in an otherwise pristine romantic dining experience. That fifth star is just within reach, Salinas. read more

Came here on a Saturday evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. We didn't have the greatest start to our evening as my friend had specifically requested seating in the back area with the skylight when he made the reservations (highly recommended) but when we got there, we were told that all the seating in that area was taken. This was very unfortunate as we were very much looking forward to that ambiance which is more outdoorsy and less of an indoor restaurant. They did seat us in the indoor part right next to the skylight section so that we still got some view. Meanwhile, our server was super friendly and very attractive ;) Our group ended up ordering a mixture of tapas including patatas bravas, anchoas jardinera (anchovies), morchilla (blood sausage), and their special of the day - scallops topped with caviar on a bed of dried olives. All were absolutely amazing, especially the scallops which were super tender and succulent. For the main dish, I had the arroz de pulpo. The rice in this dish has somewhat of a risotto texture and the entire dish was bursting with flavors. The dish was also surprisingly very filling. For dessert, we had the bread pudding which is quite unique and different from other places - it was less dense but the combination of flavors of the bread pudding with the lemon sorbet worked surprisingly well. Slightly overpriced for a recent college graduate but would definitely come back for special occasions or in the future. I loved Salinas! My friends and I got to dinner on a Thursday at the right time (6:30pm) to get a table in the back room, which has a retractable ceiling. It just happened to be the PERFECT summer night, so the ceiling was pulled back and we were dining under the stars by the end of our meal. The restaurant itself is gorgeously decorated. Beautiful lighting, lovely fireplace in the back, blue velvet banquets. The tables are a tad too close together, but they need the utilize the space...it was packed by 8pm! Really modern and spa-like restrooms that smell SO GOOD! The menu is limited and quite pricey, but everything is amazing! Try the Gambas Al Ajo Fresco and the Lamb Meatballs appetizers...both were so tasty, with beautiful presentation. For my entree I went with the Yelp recommended Rossejat Rapida, which was a crispy pasta with chicken, mussels, and chorizo...delicious! Their cocktails are also really fun...this was a really wonderful spot for a girls dinner (as was our reason for getting together on this occasion) but I'd love to go back on a date! read more

The decoration is so beautiful, especially the back garden. Food: the food is above average but not outstanding. We tried four dishes and two dessert. The wagyu beef is pretty good and the seco is classic. Just one problem about the dessert menu: more than half of the desserts contains chocolate(or cocoa). My husband is allergy to cocoa, so he doesn't have much choice. Environment: so beautiful and elegant, totally my type. Really nice place for dating. Service: good. Incredible service! Hosted a private dinner here. For a little over a month was in constant contact with reservation staff and their sweet manager Amanda with menu changes, guest count, menu details etc. Every time I was replied back quickly and courteously! Upon arrival our party was greeted kindly, our service staff was incredibly professional all this and their gorgeous setting only added to how delicious the food was. A friend recommended this place for a girls holiday dinner and it was perfect though a little more romantic than I expected. It was dim, surrounded by candles and dozens upon dozens of pink and red roses. It almost felt like I was on a valentine's day date. We got a cozy booth and enjoyed the delightful service. Everyone was very attentative and more happy to give suggestions and tasting of wines. All the dishes we had were AH-MAZING and so explosive with flavor. You could tell the chef took their time measuring the spices and seasoning everything. This place is amazing! I don't understand the 3.5 star rating. First off, service is top notch. You feel like royalty. Everyone there is attentive and they even offer coat check at the door. From the outside this place might seem mediocre but it is definitely not. I felt like I was at a 5-star resort in Spain. Secondly, the decor of this place is stunning. From lamps, to tables, to mirrors to candles....I was immediately drawn in. This is perfect if you want to impress a date or special someone. Definitely romantic and the definition of intimate! There is a back room with a fireplace but during warm weather it is turned into a patio and has a retractable rooftop. I thought it was absolutely beautiful. Now on to the food. This place had me at hello but I wondered if the food would live up to my initial impression. It definitely did !! As appetizers, we had the " Gambas al Ajo"' and " Caña al Horno". The shrimp in garlic sauce was so good, a must try! As entrees, we had the "Pescado del Dia" and " Pollo Campero". Everything was beautifully decorated and tasted exquisite. As dessert, we had the "Flan". Delicious delicious delicious!! It was topped with blueberries and cookie crumbs. Fresh ingredients and you can tell chef takes time and pride in his/her work. Retractable skylight is so cool. I always come here when I want to catch up with some friends over some delicious food. Iberico ham is alright. For some reason, it didn't seem as red, sweet, and flavorful as the iberico I usually get at other places. On the bright side, this is my only complaint. Navajas Al Horno grilled razor clams, radish gratin & aioli.. Not bad. Very flavorful but small servings. Ordered it twice. Once overcooked. Second time, perfect. Garbanzos Fritos crispy garbanzos & coarse sea salt.. yum. Gambas Al Ajillo sauteed shrimp, mushrooms, citrus garlic, guindilla peppers & parsley.. Cooked very well. Could tell the shrimp was pretty fresh. The garlic-y sauce makes this dish beautiful. Alcochofas Fritas crispy artichokes, candy cane beets, preserved lemon emulsion & castilian pine nuts.. Very flavorful, I would order this again. Gorgeous restaurant and the food was soooo good. When I arrived I was surprised the entry area and bar were quite small. Having seen some pics on line, I felt a disconnect. I arrived early and was told the dining room was just opening, and when I entered, I knew where they kept all the space. The dining room is literally breathtaking. And this was on a rainy day when they couldn't open the famous accordion ceiling. I can understand people thinking this is expensive for tapas, because it is, but the quality of ingredients and complex flavors make this a few steps up from the usual places, I assure you. I had the Gambas al Ajillo to start... OH WAIT, no, to START I had a cocktail, and it was divine. Can't remember the name. It was a muddled tequila/fresh strawberry cocktail with a touch of fresh herb and it was a heaven. The gambas were bomb and I sopped up every last drop of the juicy goodness with the lovely bread on the table. And the Porcella... Ohhh. Mouth watering crisp candy-coated pigskin... That alone makes the visit worthwhile. This is simply not a cheap tapas and sangria type of place. (Which are lovely, of course.) The food is much more refined and the ambiance is sunny and opulent. The roses are imported weekly from Ecuador. I don't know that to be true but that's what they say and of all the things to lie about why would anyone lie about the origins of their roses? The sangria!!! Delicious! The bill was almost $300 so it is a bit pricey! But worth it! Hence the special occasion recommendation. But all in all I would love to come back... Had a wonderful experience here tonight. We couldn't stop gushing about the tasty food, delectable sangria and two rounds of dessert! It reminded me so much of Barcelona. We were 3, which became 6. We ordered the patatas bravas, popcorn crusted octopus, pico pico, shaved asparagus salad, yellow fin tuna, grilled eggplant and puff pastry with cheese in a honey olive oil emulsion. Salinas is a beautifully decorated restaurant. I went early Spring so it was too cold for them to open the back room rooftop but I could just imagine how lovely it must be when they do. They did have the fireplace going in the background of a room filled with aromatic lilies and roses. The tapas, entrees, cocktails, and wines were delicious. Here's what we ordered: Small Plates: - Anchoas Jardinera - The white anchovies were oily and full of flavor, highlighted by the brandade. The toast is small so it is easily bite size. - Cauliflower with yogurt - It seems like a simple dish, roasted cauliflower. But the char was just enough to highlight the depth and creaminess from the the citrus yogurt with pimenton gave it more body. - Tuna toro - This was a way too salty. The fish was overcooked so it wasn't my favorite. We didn't finish this dish before it was taken away. - Pork belly - Cooked to perfection and the kabocha manzanilla was sumptuous and oh so creamy. - Fried artichokes - Another simple dish done very well. I'm assuming the batter was tempura based because it came out thin, crispy, and light. - Octopus - Perfectly cooked and impeccably tender. One of the best octopus dishes I've ever had. - Patatas bravas - These aren't the normal patatas bravas you get at tapa restaurants. These are diced small and crispy all around. The spicy bravas sauce is also addictive, enough kick without overwhelming the dish. - Croquetas - These were so creamy and decadant. We ordered both the special, which was pork (and maybe lamb) and a vegetarian one. They sit on a bed of sauce that made you eat a croqueta just to swipe more of it. Entress: - Seco ($34/person for 4) - This is the show stopper and comes out in a large shallow paella pan. It was so fragrant that the moment it came out, all I could smell was that beautiful seafood aroma. It also came with a skewer per person of one of the largest head-on prawns I've ever seen, octopus tentacle, and a very large sea scallop. Each piece of seafood was cooked to perfection, tender, and deliciously flavorful. This was so good! I wish I had more room in my stomach to eat more. - Dorada a la Sal - The Mediterranean sea bream was a bit underwhelming when it came in the background of the seco for four. But it was nonetheless a delicate fish. The kale was braised and dotted with small diced purple potatoes. I just don't remember much of it since the focus was all on the seco, sorry. Dessert: - Rice pudding - Chocolate torte - Sundae with a merengue - Cake with syringes of syrup The desserts were all a bit too sweet for me and by that time I was too full to eat any more. They have no idea at all what the word 'hospitality' means. I stopped by in the thick of the winter on a very cold and windy February afternoon to meet a manager. The door was locked. I knocked patiently and someone finally came, cracked the door open and without answering my greeting asked me 'how can I help you?'. I asked to see a particular manager and gave her name. We ordered the cucumber gazpacho, croquetas, and boquerones al mojo picon. The food is very good quality and interesting flavors. I liked the boquerones the best. The anchovies with the guacamole was a delicious combination. Loved the aioli that accompanied the croquetas. I found the cucumber gazpacho to be a little too vinegary, but otherwise it was good. The thing that knocks it down a star for me is that the portions are very tiny, especially for the high price tag. Even though we were just ordering a few items to sample, I feel like for an actual dinner, we'd have to order at least 6 dishes for two petite girls to get filled up. This is by far one of the most beautiful restaurants I have been to. The decor, the music, and the servers who are there but barely there all set a very relaxing and intimate mood. Its like a spa with full course meals. P.s. those beautiful roses they display throughout the place are imported from Ecuador! They're so beautiful and big! The food was quite good, too. I had the European bass which was perfectly tender and seasoned. It came with wilted spinach which tasted a bit bitter unfortunately, but not enough to take away the 5 stars I'm giving this place. Service was great, like I said, the servers were floating around unnoticeably but were there right when you needed them. It was a great experience. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience here for our one year anniversary. We had a reservation for 7:30 on Saturday and were offered a seat in the garden area. Absolutely loved how the entire restaurant was adorned with so many roses! The waiter introduced some specials and some recommendations, which was very helpful. We ordered the popcorn octopus, cauliflower with yogurt, and the brown rice lamb cake for our tapas. We decided on the suckling pig for our entree, which was a special that day. We also got a carafe of sangria to share. Octopus was the BEST dish I'd had in a long time. The outside was perfectly crisped and covered with popcorn pieces (super unique) and the meat itself was so tender and had a smoky flavor. Cauliflower was great as well, though not as memorable. Brown rice lamb cake was really excellent too. The lamb flavor definitely came through, and the rice was very rich and smooth almost like a risotto. This was my boyfriend's favorite tapa dish. Sucking pig was incredible. The skin on the outsider was paper thin and crispy, covering the juicy and flavorful meat inside. The fatty flavor was heavenly...my mouth is watering just thinking about it! The sauces that came on the plate ranged from tangy to buttery to herby, and all paired surprisingly well. We didn't realize how expensive it was until we got the bill - $65, yikes! But I'd say it's pretty worth it. Sangria was good but also expensive - $36 for a carafe. It was strong and opaque, unlike most sangria. Also came with a big cube of ice made from the sangria, to prevent diluting of the flavor. I'd say that salinas is my favorite tapas restaurant in NYC so far! I came here to celebrate my mother's birthday and I am SO pleased with how the meal went. First of all, beautiful, fresh roses from Ecuador fill the restaurant, giving it an elegant and luxurious ambiance. My mom is a really picky person so I was relieved when she started taking pictures of the interior décor and commenting on how spacious yet intimate the restaurant was. We ordered the Anchoas Jardinia ($12 anchovies on toast), Pulpo Con Palomitas ($19 octopus), Panceta Al Iberico ($22 pork belly), Berenjena Gratinat ($10 grilled eggplant), Bravas ($9 potatoes), Charcutero ($29 meat board), the Seco Paella for two ($64 seafood paella) and 3 glasses of the Sangria Roja ($36). This was the perfect amount of food for 3 people (we even had leftover bravas and paella to bring home). All the dishes were prepared with so much thought and were brought to the table in a nicely paced fashion. The paella came out last, and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. It was HUGE and so delicious. The seafood was meaty and well prepared. This restaurant may be on the more expensive side, but it is definitely worth it. Also, I would like to note that the ice cube in the Sangria was not water, but frozen Sangria...that shows how much the restaurant cares about the flavors of everything being on point! Go for the food, but not necessarily the service. I've been to Spain more times than I can count including three times in Barcelona, twice in Girona and once in Northern Catalonia after cycling the Pyrenees, twice to Mallorca, once to northwest Spain and even a trip to Andalucia and the food there is awesome. I'm a huge fan. Against this backdrop I've looked for some time for a New York city restauant that delivers on that experience. Salinas comes the closest. It is very good, but its not quite what I came to love while on vacation there. Now as far as Salinas I enjoyed the food very much. I had the Pulpo al Mojopicon(Octopus) and the Meloso de Carabineros "Ahumado"(paella). Both were delicious. It's really had to go wrong with anything on the menu and I already see myself coming back to try the Sea Bream. So what doesn't work. First this is the first restaurant I've been to recently that doesn't treat you to an appetizer or provide free bread. My friend decided he wanted bread so we opted for the bread service. They gave us the bread plates but not the bread , so before our appetizers came out they nearly took away our bread plates, then wound up delivering both at the same time. Worse the amount of bread was not nearly sufficient enough for the toppings they provided. The bread service is a joke and I do not recommend ordering it. It wasn't bad, but they don't know how to serve it nor do they provide it in sufficient quantities. ' Desert was amazing, and I wish I wrote down the name for this review. It's certainly worth ordering. In summary I gave Salinas four stars. I hope to come back and sample some additional items. it just misses the mark in a few places. read more

Not much has changed since I was here last in 2013. The ambiance is just so inviting and impressive with all the fresh Ecuadorean flowers everywhere! Upon waking in, I was greeted by the delightful hostess and led to the bar where a very friendly bartender was friendly but not pushy. His poise was perfect - there to be helpful but not to be intimidating so we felt forced to grab drinks before getting seated. Once getting taken to the main dining room- it felt so familiar. The table was flanked on either side by a beautiful wooden divider to give privacy and so the table next to you doesn't intrudt on your conversation. Shockingly enough there was plenty of room and the chairs were oh so plush. The menu was just how I remember it being -- not necessarily each menu item was the same since 3 years ago- but the aura was similar. Everything sounded so good because the components being used to describe the dish left you wanting to taste everything! Ended up ordering 3 small plates (pan seared octopus special, cauliflower in this ridiculous yogurt sauce, and Tuna steak) , 1 rice dish (Arroz Vasco Marino ) and 1 entree (fish of the day- cod with prawns and clams) to feed 3 ladies. We also got 2 desserts - warm coffee-brandy bread pudding and the migas which was chocolate gelato served with these delish cookie crumbs made with olive oil and honey. All the food was yummy... But I was definitely still hungry after the meal. Maybe we should have ordered the patatas bravas too? We also had some really yummy sangria too ($70 for a carafe)!! Once again, the HYPE IS REAL!! First off, the decor & the pleasant smell of flowers is to die for! Love it all!! I love flowers and intimate settings. Came here for a late Valentine's Day dinner w| my boyf, brother & bestie. We enjoyed every second we spent here & all of the amazing food that we ate! The services is great and our waitress was knowledgeable and helpful. For appetizers: - grilled octopus - lamb w| mushrooms - pork belly w| baby shrimp - pica pica - cauliflower (w| a delicious sauce) For entrees: (3 out of 4 people) got the special of the day - the slow roasted (for over a day) suckling pig.. it was amazing, melted in your mouth!! The pig came w| a side of salad. I had the sea bass cooked to perfection w| a Mediterranean flare - raisins, pinenuts - on a bed of delicious greens. My boyfriend surprised me on a birthday date to Salinas and I was blown away. From the decor to the food to the service, everything was amazing. Definitely a great intimate date night spot or girlfriends night out dinner. The roses everywhere were overwhelmingly beautiful, so beautiful in fact if you stole one your table would be charged $15 lol as stated on the menu. We both had the Roja sangria which was so delicious and we shared 3 tapas plus had two entrees. Have to say you can't just go off of the name of the food, you have to read the description; took us a while to figure out what we wanted. We had the croquettes, the lambcake and the porkbelly. All were amazing and a must try. For dinner we had the catch of the day which was bass and my date had the grilled chicken- which I favored more. The chicken was so juicy and falling off of the bone. Overall, I love this place and would most definitely come back on another date night with a few friends or a lover! read more

Gorgeous roses in the restaurant. Nice and intimate place for a date or catching up with friends. It's quieter than many other restaurants. We got sangria. It's on the stronger side. As been told, the ice cube is frozen sangria, not just water. We skipped the Paella because we wanted to try more varieties and here are what we had: Pulpo a la Sarte ($26 octopus), very juicy and fatty. The olives that came with the dish were delicious! Bravas ($9 very delicious potatoes), potatoes cut in small cubes. Deep fried and then sautéed. Great flavor and so addictive. Fideos Meloso ($34 lobster and seafood vermicelli pasta), it's the daily special. Vermicelli was not as buttery and sticky as normal pasta. However the vermicelli absorbs the sauce better than normal pasta, which makes the dish very flavorful. They probably added some seafood paste to make the seafood flavor stronger. Coca de Lomo ($18 pork with goat cheese and flat bread), very interesting dish and my FAVORITE of the day. The layers goes really well together: the flat bread was a little crispy but still thick enough to give it a chewy texture. The goat cheese gave a salty and milky flavor. And the tomatoes are cut into tiny pieces and provides more juice to the bite! Great tapas. Well done! Feel like the place is bit pricy but worth it. Will definitely save this place for some special occasions. Very nice! read more

first of all... this place is absolutely GORGEOUS. And I love how the interior of the restaurant is not really visible from the outside...making it more secretive and mysterious. You walk in, there's a mini bar/waiting area. You have to walk down a long narrow hall to get to the tables and there's really awesome garden area. Also, I clearly did not do my research beforehand, but they have the most beautiful roses and lilies all throughout the restaurant :-) But yes, onto the food. aaaah-mazing small plates. Got the octopus special of the day (COOKED perfectly; a little salty for my taste), the pork belly (which I was in LOVE with), and the lamb empanadas. The lamb empanadas were my least favorite--nothing special. probably NOT something I would want for the price. Also beware, portion sizes arent THAT big. I'm a pretty petite girl and I went with my sister so we were happy and full, but probably not something for guys or someone with a bigger stomach. The paella I was really excited for... the seafood on it was cooked perfectly (scallops being my favorite), the chicken was definitely dry and stiff. Overall, it was an alright dish, but NOT worth 64$ for 2... Also it's a HUGE portion...so I wouldn't recommend getting it if you're not starving. We were having such a lovely dinner...OH and the sangria is pretty good too. I appreciated how it wasn't TOO sweet or watered down. like yuck. I'll just go ahead and make my own if you're going to do that to my $40 drank. But back to my story...lovely dinner. romantic ambience. place smells AMAZING b/c of the flowerz......and then.... we ordered dessert even though we were had already overeaten b/c I was like THE DESSERT MUST BE MINDBLOWING if the small plates were this good. We ordered the $13 bread pudding, which literally took at good 15-20minutes to come out. And of course, I thought "oooh, they must be busy baking and bringing it straight out of the oven. yum" ........let's just say that 75% of it was FROZEN........ I'm like excuse me, if you're at an upscale restaurant, I expect them to provide more than frozen dessert?! Better to have less items on the menu...I'm a quality over quantity type of a girl. Anyways, the bread pudding with the cheap frosting on top literally tasted like one of those frozen cinnabon treats at the supermarket... So......if I do end up going back, no dessert for me. probably will order more small plates. read more

The minute we walked pass the entrance, through the bar into the dining area, we fell in love with this restaurant. There were flowers and candles everywhere and a pink rose on every table. There's a garden in the back of the restaurant with a retractable roof that opens up when the weather is nice. We started off with some jamon iberico and manchego cheese. Both were good and went well with the wine that we ordered. The star of the night was the Foie Gras Terrine, which was amazing!! The terrine was so rich and creamy. The pairing with the quince, which has a pear texture with a coconut taste, and pickled garlic worked very well. The pork belly was a little dry - it seemed that too much fat was rendered and lost. The razor clams were very flavorful but slightly overcooked. Fried crispy artichokes were well seasoned and addictive. The bread pudding was excellent for someone who usually doesn't like the dish. :) Service was good and definitely will go back for the foie gras and the ambiance. read more

I went to salinas last night with three of my friends. The restaurant is beautiful. There are flowers everywhere. The menu stated the flowers are flown in from Ecuador. The ambience is romantic, but it was still a nice setting for my friends and me. We ordered a few tapas to start: Arroz brut a la plancha - braised lamb and brown rice cake Queso Morarabe- type of cheese pastry. To die for!! Crispy artichokes with lemon aioli Soft shell crab (special of the night) Patatas Bravas- potatoes in sauce All the tapas were delicious! Then, we ordered a risotto with clams, shrimp, and scallops in a broth. That was also delicious. For dessert, we ordered a flourless chocolate pistachio cake and a cheese plate. The service was very good as well. Overall, I loved this restaurant and cannot wait to return!! read more

Great date spot, especially on a summer night when the roof/back-yard is open. Below what I ordered at a recent dinner: Jamón Serano & Queso Manchego to start. Followed by the Brocoli & cauliflower appetizer and some delicious octopuss "a la plancha". Main course was the fish of the day, a grilled Daurade with a salad on the side. This is by the far one of the prettiest restaurants I've been to. It's a great place to go to for a date with your significant other. The atmosphere is romantic and classy. The entrance to the restaurant is low key. The wooden door and outside seating reminds me of a garden. Once you go in, the scent of fresh roses welcomes you. The tables in the middle of the restaurant is a lot more dimly lit by candles. Each table is decorated with a rose and candle. Blue cushioned seats for everyone. The highlight of this place is the retractable glass roof in the back of the restaurant. This is the main reason why I wanted to come here. They open the glass roof during warm days. There is also a fireplace in the middle. There are two tables with vases full of freshly Ecuadorean imported roses they receive weekly, separating the garden seating section. If you choose to take a rose from them, they charge $15/rose. Getting a table in the back under the glass roof is pretty hard. There is no guarantee of getting it even if you rsvp ahead of time. My heart was set of getting a table in the back though so I went pretty early because it was Sunday and it's expected to be packed on weekends. They open at 5pm on Sundays and 6pm on other days. I made a rsvp for 6:30pm and had no trouble requesting a table in the back when I got there. There were only two other tables occupied in the back upon arrival. Service was great. Prices are moderate, in my opinion, because this is definitely considered a fancier restaurant. I ordered the patatas bravas and croquetas de jamon fundientes for tapas. The croquetas were really creamy but it didn't give me the 'wow' factor. I liked the patatas more but it really just tasted like an upscale version of French fries. For the entree, I had their popular nuestra paella. You're required to have a minimum of two people to order that dish and it's $32/person. The dish didn't look deep but as you start eating, it is a lot of rice to finish. There were shrimp, mussels, clams, and scallops on top of the rice. The rice was mixed with chicken. The chicken was a bit dry. Overall, the paella was good but it was a bit too salty in certain parts. For dessert, we had the Torrija con Sorbete. Altogether, the bill came up to be $107 for two people. This restaurant is definitely a great experience for a date. read more

This is a very beautiful restaurant. There are flowers everywhere. The chairs and booths are all very nice. It's very dark inside, a bit too dark in my opinion. It was a little difficult to read the menu. Great romantic spot or even for a girl's night out. We decided to go with the grilled prime rib-eye steak for two. It had a market price of over $100. It's probably the most expensive item on the menu. So if you're ordering steak, be prepare to pay $$$. The steak came with a special sauce. It smelled great with unique flavors. But I didn't love it that much. It was just okay, maybe because I'm use to the classic steak sauce. Although this is not a steak house, they cooked the steak just right. It was medium rare like we had asked. The dish came with a salad with an assortment of vegetables that paired well with the steak. The menu is not extensive. We wanted to order the tapas or Spanish rice, but it didn't appeal to us. So we took a risk and went with the steak, which wasn't bad. The service was a little slow and the steak took awhile.
