Dr. Lee has always been my Optometrist since I can remember. She's very thorough, always explains things and friendly. I completely trust her. Sandy always make me feel welcome, very accommodating and offers suggestions without the sales talk one usually feels in some optical centers. read more

I came here to get away from golden vision dirty work I feel safe here she gave me a better understand about lens

I've been seeing Dr. Lee for years. I highly recommend Dr. Lee and Sandy! I still remember from the moment I walked in, Sandy made me feel welcome and comfortable. Sandy is amazing! She's not only friendly and welcoming, but she also takes the time to thoroughly explain the costs, making sure everything is clear. She's always incredibly patient with me when I'm choosing glasses and gives great feedback on which glasses look best on me haha. Dr. Lee is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and takes the time to explain everything in detail, making sure all of my concerns were addressed. The level of care and attention I received during my eye exam was exceptional, and I never felt rushed. I truly feel that my eye health is in great hands . read more

I recently went to see Dr. Salena Lee and Sandy and had an excellent experience. One could not ask for a more professional and friendly, accommodating Doctor and practice overall. I really enjoyed her process and willingness to explain her work and thoughts on a technical level. The service was thorough and my new glasses came back quickly. Thank you so much! read more

I've been going here for a couple years now. I couldn't be happier. Super friendly, professional service. Excellent care.

BEST optometrist experience I've ever had, and as someone who has worn glasses since 7th grade, that is a LOT of prior optometrist experiences. Dr. Lee was super thorough in my exam, easy to talk to, answered all my questions, and even pointed out an issue for me to follow up with an ophthalmologist on (thankfully, I did that, and it is all clear). She is professional and takes good care of her patients. They also are COVID cautious and see people masked and by appointment only, which I fully appreciate. Their office hours work very well for me, since they have Saturday and Sunday appointments available. Their frames selection is rather pricey (even with insurance), but the exam was excellent. She also had no issues with providing the prescription to get glasses somewhere else, and even suggested it once she found out the frames I was wearing then were from Zenni. 10000% recommended (and, indeed, I already did to my mom, who has been wearing glasses almost all her life, too). read more

R O C K S T A R S If you want PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL and CARING service, this is the awesome eye doctor you have been looking for. My eyes are my profession and I trust this practice to them with all of my heart. They are gracious, kind and patient with the pickiest patient (like myself). YEARS of awesome service. Seriously, I would not waste my time with reviews if I did not think that it mattered for you to gain from. Okay, I'm done. :) read more

Sandy is PHENOMENAL! I had a favorite, very well loved pair of glasses and it looked it. It was faded and warped from years of use and abuse. And although it was purchased elsewhere long before I started visiting Salena's office, Salena and Sandy have adjusted it many times over the years, ordered a replacement clip-on, and changed the lenses for me. When that last bit was done, they broke it to me as gently as they could. Its time was coming and the frame might give up the ghost at any time. Well, recently I once again took it in to be adjusted. Poor Sandy. The plastic frame was getting a bit more brittle each year and it could've broken at any moment. But she got the job done. Then she went one step further. She took pictures of it, measured it then sent the information to their Takumi rep to see if there was any old stock. A few days later I got a call. The manufacturer had the exact style but in two other colors. WooHoo! We decided to order the tortoiseshell one sight unseen. When it disappeared somewhere in the shipping process, Sandy followed up and tracked it down. It finally arrived and it was fantastic! Better than I expected! While I was in the shop, Sandy popped the lenses out from the old frame and slipped them into the new ones thereby saving me a bit of money. Double WooHoo! That's customer service. read more

Both my parents and I see Dr. Lee and they really take care of us. We have been seeing them for years. They are so nice, patient and helpful! They recently opened back up and are taking very cautious measures during quarantine. I would recommend to anyone looking for a new optometrist read more

I've been seeing Sandy and Salem's since I was a kid. They just opened up again with lots of precautions, temperature checks, sanitizing between patients, etc. They are both so sweet, knowledgeable and helpful! read more

Just got an eye exam and Dr. Lee is very good and helpful. I am really like it and help me with advise. read more

I love this practice! I believe the doctor and technologist are sisters, and they are both so kind, thorough, and helpful. All my old glasses get a clean and tune-up each time I'm in, and they even help me choose more fashion-forward frames (for which I get many compliments). I struggle with chronic styes and Dr. Lee sent me off with a complimentary purse full of medicated wipes last time I visited. I'd recommend this practice to anyone. It's true that the frame selection can be a little pricey, but Dr. Lee would happily send you with a prescription to purchase elsewhere. read more

Dr. Salena Lee is THE optometrist to go to in San Francisco! Friendly, professional, thorough and a place that goes the extra mile and it feels 100% genuine. It's a small place and the office manager is Sandy, I believe she's her sister. In any case, make way over to the Sunset District and have your eyes taken care of and made the priority, not a sales transaction! I have a big thing about anything or anyone touching my eye. I cannot begin to imagine the thought of putting a contact on my eye seeing how I still cannot put in eye drops properly. Dr. Lee was very patient and kept asking me how I was doing. I had VSP through my employer and expressed my fears and concerns about my vision. I've never had such friendly service and thorough care... Dr. Salena Lee explained everything she was going to do, was very patient and gave me the details of everything (in plain english) she saw during my exam. Sandy repaired my banged up sunglasses for free during my visit and explained my benefits so that I knew what to expect. I needed a new pair of glasses and much to my pleasant surprise, they did not push anything on me. I told them that I was working on a budget and was trying to get a cheaper pair and they told me to feel free to look around and find the type/shape of glasses i want since I had no clue and they even gave me their helpful opinion! :) They've got a pretty big selection considering the office size of great brands. These ladies are bright, warm, professional, friendly, they know what they're doing and they make their patients a priority...not selling products. Dr. Lee has connections with UCSF and UC Berkeley so she's no plain jane who gives like 10 minute express in and out visits. I moved an hour away from this place... but trust me, when I need a trustworthy, friendly and awesome optometrist I'm making the journey to San Francisco, because I'm coming back to Dr. Salena Lee and Sandy!! read more

Love this simple neighborhood office. Both Sandy and Salena are so kind and easy to work with. Would highly recommend!

I've been coming to Dr Lee for quite awhile now, I like her service very friendly and her assistant too.

Dr. Lee and Sandra are both incredible people! They have a wonderful way if treating their patients with genuine care and love. My husband and I have been with Dr. Lee and even moving away for few years now we still come back to the city just to get our vision checked only by Dr. Lee. One is blessed to be able to see Dr. Lee. We feel extremely fortunate! read more

I searched my vision insurance and online reviews and was eager to make an appointment with Dr. Lee because she's in my network and had good reviews. I called and asked if they were accepting new patients. The receptionist said they were only accepting referrals. I wasn't sure if she meant referrals from doctors or other patients, so I asked if that meant I have to know another patient who already goes there. She said "Yes, do you know someone who goes here?" I said "No" and before I could say anything she said "Bye" and hung up the phone. I've never heard of a place that would do this. And if they are full - there is a much more polite and nicer way to say you cannot accept new patients. read more

I was at first thrown off by my initial call with the office going over my insurance policy (was an overall awkward conversation). But when I met them in person I was more than happy that this is the place I chose for my eye care. Dr. Lee is the sweetest and does an incredibly thorough job. And Sandra is also a super kind woman who makes you feel comfortable the second you walk through those doors. I felt cared for, like my thoughts were heard, and like I was clearly respected as a patient. read more

WOW! Medical service this nice and cool is extremely rare... I'm waaaaaaay happy I ended up at this small, kick ass location. You see, the other shops I checked out on Irving were either packed with old people or dark/uninviting, and a Noriega shop had some sorta situation so they had to abruptly close that day... But so thankful the eye gods led me here... Sandy the front desk lady has an incredible calming voice, chill humor, and very friendly. She's got keen insight on which frames fit my noggin best, and her up to date knowledge of the Euro and Asian frames were awesome. In the past I've spent an hour before picking out frames, but we got it all done in 10 mins. Very helpful, as I pulled about 10-15 different frames to try on, she pulled 10-15 as well to help me find my look, help me fit the latest trend. Strong, cheerful, honest opinions, I was flat out impressed... Salena the optometrist also has the cool friendly attitude. She explained every test in easy to comprehend language, very kind and light hearted, never at all did I feel a sense of being rushed or like a guinea pig undergoing nerve-rattling tests. Nope, it was all good. IT'S CALLED SOCIAL SKILLS, PEOPLE!!! Now some doctors out there like to whisk you in and out of the exam room like you're just some number in cue, but not these two gracious funny people! I have never encountered service this cool in my entire life (except the girls at House of Coffee, but that's coffee =P). If you got VSP, you need to drop by. They'll carefully explain your plan in detail, breaking down every cost and discount, and go over the additional lens options (anti-reflective, scratch-resistant, thin lenses, etc). They let me know what I GENUINELY should consider, and what I really dont need in lenses. Pretty cool, no tricks, no pressure, they wont rob you. 8D read more

I used to go to Kaiser to get my eyes checked every year. There's nothing wrong with Kaiser but when you get a revolving door of optometrists, there's kind of a cold feeling of an assembly line in getting your eyes checked. Eventually I got vision insurance from my job and I decided to come to Dr Lee's office since I lived a few blocks away at the time. The customer service here is awesome. Sandy is the office manager and always gives me A1 service. For some reason, they always remember me. She's always extremely helpful and very friendly. Dr. Lee is very thorough with her eye exam and I never feel rushed by her when she is checking my eyes. She is extremely knowledgable and helpful when I have questions. She explains things in a clear and understandable way and I always feel like my eyes were always carefully checked. They also even take their time with helping you find glasses. I am sometimes picky with what I choose and take my time. They spent 10 minutes showing me different styles and helping me out. Another awesome thing is that they sometimes tell me to go to Costco for contacts cause it might be cheaper. That's great customer service and I know they aren't trying to shovel me some bs services or expensive specs. One minor negative is that they don't open from Mon to Wed. No biggie though because they are open on Sat and Sunday. Honestly, that's the biggest negative I have about the place but shooot, don't let me stop you from coming here. It's awesome. Stop by and get your eyes checked! read more

This is my 2nd time to use this office. Salena is very detail oriented and knowledgeable. I got a prescribed glasses a year ago, the examined vision is accurate and the glasses is so comfortable. Salena seems a nice person. I recommended my husband to use her. read more

I'm doing this on behalf of my mother. They made her happy, and my mom is, by far, the hardest woman to please. I suppose I take after her (eww... did I just say that). Well, they have a nice selection of frames... impressive to say the least as they are very fashionable and current. They were honest with my mother, being upfront with everything from costs to their suggestions on what types of frame suit her needs. Friendly, knowledgeable, honest-- all these describe this establishment, and I come to this conclusion as just a bystander in all of this, assisting my mom and being an observer. (Side Note: I should give my mom a little more credit as she did most of this venture on her own. GOOD FOR HER!) When I need to change my prescription and frames I will definitely come here. VSP friendly. read more

Note: I've been told that they are no longer accepting new patients (unless you have referral). Also, do call in advance because they usually don't have appointments until 3 weeks later (since they are only opened Thurs-Sun, catering to professionals). I've always passed by this place, but never really thought much of it. But based on the Yelp reviews, I decided to give this place a try. Called them in February and got the earliest weekend appointment in late March (that's how busy they are!) On the day of, I was greeted by Sandy and was seated to fill out some paperwork. Dr. Salena Lee came in and introduced herself. She was very nice, and throughout the whole exam, she explained her findings with me thoroughly. The whole process didn't take too long, perhaps 30 mins max? Went out to pick my glasses. At first glance, I thought that I would have to go elsewhere for glasses given the size of the office, but I was amazed to find that the selection they hold is catered perfectly for young professionals - Raybans, Marc Jacobs, Coach, etc. I tried on about 20 pairs of glasses and was deciding between 10... Sandy and Salena were both nice enough to sit down with me and watch me try them on one by one, then give me their feedback. After another 30 minutes, I finally decided on the pair of glasses. Sandy walked me through my insurance plan just to make sure that I can maximize my benefits! Sandy later called me a week after I received my glasses just to make sure everything is okay. Fantastic service! Definitely a pleasant visit! :) THANK YOU! read more

This business is run by a sister duo, Salena the optometrist and Sandy the office manager (not sure that's her title). They are excellent at what they do and makes you feel truly cared for. They've gone above and beyond on several occasions, e.g. today I couldn't find an enzymatic cleaner for my hard contact lenses at Walgreens so I asked Sandy where I should find them, and she took the initiative to call a pharmacist friend of hers to order some especially for me, for next day delivery, at a lower price than what Walgreens would have charged! read more

Best optometrist experience ever. - Short wait for my appointment. (Having an appointment that starts on time in any doctor's office is such a rare treat!) - Dr. Lee happily answered any and all questions I had about the health of my eyes and vision. - Great and personalized service. I had stopped in to buy sunglasses more than a year ago (hadn't come back since), but Dr. Lee remembered me and even the glasses I chose to buy! - No pressure to get new glasses or frames. Dr. Lee also offered to write out my prescription so I could buy glasses elsewhere in case I didn't find anything I liked at her store. - No air puff in eye machine! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

The nicest optometrist with the nicest staff. Both the Lee sisters ALWAYS go out of their way to give their customers the best. I will probably never go to another optometrist!! You can also ask them anything comfortably and they will answer you throughly... no rushing. You can tell they really care for your eyes and your personal well-being. Good selection of glasses as well. I always get compliments on my frames! :D Last time I went in for a contact fitting, I saw some coach frames and I will be SURE to get those with my next paycheck!!! =] Only one con: Odd hours because they only open certain days. Still, amazing service one certain days is better than ok service everyday!!! Trust me... go to them... you won't regret it! Sweetest and most helpful people!!! read more

Dr. Lee & Sandy have done it, again! I just picked up my 5th pair of glasses. They were exactly what I wanted, stylish and youthful. Sandy always gets the ball rolling by presenting frame options. Then, my sidekick and I in less than 10 minutes pick the winning one! When Dr Lee is available, she adds her two cents. I always have a lot of fun here. Most important, they are a very efficient and client focused operation. Sandy went over and above with this last pair. She knew I wanted my new glasses for a special event. I got them just in time! I don't have insurance anymore as I've mentioned in previous reviews. This is the place for me! read more

Salena and Sandy are the best!!! They're one of the reasons I was so excited to move back to SF! Their attention to detail and patient health and well being has been unparalleled and they're super nice to boot. They're so knowledgeable and approachable that sometimes I'll just swing by and say "hi" when I'm in the neighborhood. Plus, I love that they're open on the weekends. They're so great about standing by their patients and the products that they provide. I tend to gravitate towards plastic frames which unfortunately tend to bend into funny shapes and require maintenance. The sisters have been so great about making quick adjustments to the frames when needed. =) As a random question to the 1 and 2 star reviews here, I've had to wait 3 MONTHS for a doctor's appointment before and it seems fairly common for new patients. Is it really fair to give a low Yelp review for something you haven't actually experienced? Would you give a 1 star review for Gary Danko if they couldn't take you as a walk in on a Friday night? read more

I've been going to Dr. Lee for the last 5 - 6 years for the simple reason that they're simply awesome! Always exceeding my expectations and making sure I'm well informed and taken care of. Really can't ask for more. I love Dr. Lee and Sandra and would never consider changing optometrists. read more

When I first got my insurance, I called 3 optometrists to try. They were the only ones that called. I was glad, because I have never regretted that decision. Their service is superior to that of the other optometrists that I have been to in the past. They have a great selection of frames and know how to pick a frame for the face structure. They picked a pair of frames that I totally love. What can I say? I LOVE THEM! Sandy and Salena are the friendliest, more professional, funniest and nicest people I have met. I am on a personal quest to convert as many people over to their office. P.S. Thanks for the fantastic frame that now adorns my husband's face. It makes him 100X hotter. *SSSSSSIZZLE**** read more

I needed to get my eyes checked and my sister-in-law raved about Salena. I would have to agree with her! Besides being friendly and personable, Salena is super honest and not pushy at all. She outlined the options my insurance gave me, and told me it was my choice to get contacts with her or at Costco (since she knew it was cheaper at Costco). I decided on new glasses and both her and her staff went around the store and helped me pick out a pair that fit me. They were honest with what looked good or not. And they considered frames of reasonable price. You know how most of the time, people want to make more money off their customer and try to push you to buy from them or buy more expensive? Nope, they don't do that! Definitely hard to find doctors nowadays who take the time to satisfy their patient. Her office is open Thursdays through Sunday. They accept VSP. read more

It's a new year so it was a perfect time to go get my vision checked and use my healthcare benefits. I first visited Dr. Salena Lee when she was at UCSF and glad she's still practicing in the City. Dr. Lee offers a very thorough vision exam including explaining any of the tests or tools used to check your vision and the health of your eyes. Health insurance coverage can be a daunting task to understand. Not to worry when you visit Dr. Lee. Sandy, Salena's sister, works there too and they already had pre-printed information showing exactly what my insurance covered. She also went over all the options and what she thought was best. If you're looking for friendly and caring people to check the health of your eyes look no further than Salena and Sandy. read more

Dr. Salena Lee and her assistant Sandy and their GREAT selection of frames all combine to make them the best optomotrist's office I've ever visited. They are so super friendly that it feels like going to visit a friend. Dr. Lee is able to, at the same time, be a complete professional who can explain everything in simple and smart terms. She TEACHES optometry students at UC Berkeley and I feel good for the future OD's of the world because of her... Dr. Lee and Sandy don't try to pressure you into any kind of sales/purchase and are as helpful as can be. I think my heart rate lowers by the time I leave. Plus, their frames selection is so cute...OPI, prodesign, and other really cool Euro titanium (now they have those cool die-cut titanium frames; I picked one up in a really cool grey/purple color and with a modern die-cut flower pattern on the sides (only seen from the sides, not from the front). I get compliments on them all the time. Thank goodness you can still believe in a place that offer genuinely top-notch customer service with no snootiness in a local owned business! read more

Best eye doctor I've ever had. Dr. Lee is personable, kind, thoughtful and thorough -- and she's open on weekends! Highly recommend

I should have yelped about Dr. Lee after my first visit (in 2009), but after visiting her again this year, I'm glad to say that my opinion hasn't changed--she's excellent at what she does and makes the patient feel very at ease. I had to bring my then 3 year old to my first visit because Dr. Lee's office hours didn't coincide with my available childcare (preschool) and I almost didn't make an appointment because of this. Sandy, however, assured me over the phone that it would be OK to bring her. During the check up, my daughter wanted to sit on my lap and Dr. Lee didn't mind it at all. She did a thorough job regardless of the distraction. My last visit was even better because I didn't bring my daughter. Nothing changed on their (Sandy and Dr. Lee) behalf, but I was just more relaxed knowing that I didn't have to watch my daughter. All around a great experience. read more

You can't go wrong here. Very professional, friendly and clean. Dr. Lee is concise and does a great job at explaining and including you in the process. And the hours rock. This is the best eye doctor I have ever been to. Can't recommend Dr. Lee enough! read more

UPDATE: I had to return my glasses, and get a refund. :-(( Prodesign frames are very stylish, but their patented nosepads are textured and rubbery (not smooth plastic), so they rub away at sensitive facial skin and leave painful red marks on your nose.. At the store, you don't realize it because you're only trying them on for a couple minutes. Everything looks great. Once you get your glasses and they're on for 30 minutes, you start to feel the nosepads digging into your skin. You can't have them switched out for the smooth ones either because the patented design won't allow for standard nosepads to be installed in there. It's not physically possible (they're laser/precision cut and fit in there.) Sigh...I guess I can stick with my old frames for a while. read more

Not that Dr. Lee and Sandy need another 5 star review, but here it is anyway! These two know customer service. Three times they have helped me in a time of need and twice they refused to let me pay. Once, I had an eye infection and needed an emergency appointment, Dr. Lee got me right in and by the next day, my infection was fading fast. Another time, Sandy fixed some sun glasses that I didn't even buy at her shop. They can show a lot of other business owners about how to build customer loyalty, by earning it. BTW they also do great eye exams and help you pick out the frames that best suit you. They do contacts too! read more

Dr. Salena Lee is amazing, this was the best optometrist visit I've ever had and I've had contacts/glasses for 15 years! So why was she so good? Well first off the office manager Sandy is amazing. She is so sweet and friendly over the phone. She even called VSP and working out an annoying insurance issue for me, my social was not pulling up my insurance. Then when I went for the office visit Sandy did an amazing job of picking out a couple pairs of glasses that would look good on me. I was trying on a billion pairs before the exam and seriously she picked out the best three in two seconds based on my favorite color, shape of my face, profession, and whether I liked metal or plastic better. She is a glasses guru, amazing! I am incredibly happy with my frames and this was super important to me since this was the main purpose of my visit. Dr. Sandra Lee was also great. She explained everything very well and did a thorough exam without trying to sell high-tech stuff that is unnecessary which I have run into with previous optometrists. She was also super conscious of my graduate student budget and weighed the benefits of using my insurance for glasses vs. contacts and whether the next generation contacts were better or comparable to what I had. She was super honest. I am never going to another optometrist again. Sandra and Sandy are amazing! read more
