The main post office offers the most amenities available in town. The self service station and free shipping supplies make it easy for you to handle your business needs outside of their regular hours of operation. I've been purging some things recently and have found the larger drop down bin openings to be so helpful when I drop pre-paid packages off. The staff is patient, friendly and very accommodating. They've really hustled into high gear these past few years with Covid's increase in online shopping. Big thanks to the United States Postal Service! You matter! read more

The main branch states they are open from 10-12 on Saturday. But no one was their to help the 10 customers waiting in line for service. Why advertise open Saturday from 10-12 if they are not. read more

I use this Post Office a lot. It is the biggest and I think the central Post Office for Salem Oregon. Many other Post offices send their mail here before it is shipped out. All I know is that my mail gets to its destination quicker if I take it here. Everyone here is super nice. They also have an office where you can apply for a passport. read more

The customer service I received while applying for a passport was the best! It took me three different trips because I kept messing up on my end. Troy was so kind to me and my disabled daughter on each visit. I received professional, courteous, kind, and clear information and instructions from Troy. He was ever patient, and in this world, especially with all the usual grumbling folks have about the postal service, I must always acknowledge when an employee seems to actually like their job and performs it to the best of their abilities. read more

I have complained with USPS directly. The reason for this review is so that other customers speak up if they are being discriminated or disrespected based on the color of their skin. I was the first customer of the day, and the clerk was rude and yelled at me for not having a label they were to print per my return instructions or tape (which I knew I would purchase). I called out his behavior which only escalated his attitude and voice while we were alone in the store. Once more customers rolled in, his demeanor and attitude changed dramatically, towards them. He was pleasant and nice even, great customer service bestowed upon them. Was his change in behavior because I am a minority and those patrons were white? Idk and Idc, I don't expect to be catered to or exceptions made towards me. I expect to be treated just like everyone else, with dignity and respect This is unacceptable and I will not support a business that allows this nonsense. read more

There isn't much to say about this post office, other than its one of the main branches in the city and most certainly among the oldest. Lines can pile up quick here and the service is slower than the traffic along Highway 22. I try to avoid this post office at all costs (especially during the dreaded holiday season) but sometimes a visit is just necessary. The parking situation is a little weird here. There are quite a few spaces but since the lot is narrow and the street is parallel, it makes it very difficult to "cruise for spaces" without having to go back on the street to turn back around for parking again. Thankfully most of the time people are in and out and spaces do eventually become available. The building is big but the actual area for mailing letters / sending packages is not. Majority of the area is PO boxes with a few self-mailing machines but the room where most folks would get assistance is deceivingly small. This means its hell when there are lines here and that is pretty often, most of the time during lunch or right before 5PM. Most of the postal workers are slow and lack any type of efficiency pace to keep most people in line satisfied. Thankfully it's Salem and nowhere else. I think in Portland someone would've thrown a shoe or worse, their own package toward the counter. There are maybe 5-6 spaces for people to approach the counter, but one would be lucky if more than 2 were occupied. The line buildup is due to this for the most part and as a result affects the already whacked out parking situation. They need some serious renovations and bad. Otherwise for packages, its DHL, UPS, and Fedex from here on out. read more

I cannot even believe I am writing a review about a post office, or more like the workers IN the post office. My frustration to be heard, about a very frightening mail carrier, has led me to Yelp. I am sure nothing will change, except maybe to get all of this out to the locals who might have advice for me on were to turn, or share their horror stories and perhaps get the employees who participate in mocking customers to the unemployment line. Here I go...I live in Monmouth, almost 4 years at the same address, hence the same mailbox and same mail carrier, his name is Benjamin. About a month or so ago, I realized I had not been getting any mail in my locked mailbox. Not too concerned, until I went to do banking and was asked by the teller "where I moved to"? Uhhh...what? I did not move, nor intend to..why?? she explains my bank statements had all been returned..( I had a terrible experience with fraud last year, I do many things different now when it comes to my accounts, no online payments etc..) So, I took my scared self to the local post office ten steps from my bank, and inquired why was not receiving my mail...Dave, counter guy, asked if I had moved? NO..asked if I put mai lon hold..NO..asked if my mailbox was full of mail..Uhhh..no...hence why I am asking you, Dave, where did my mail go...Dave explains that yes,my mailman(BEN) put a stop service on my address...What?? Why??? ....Then Ben just happens to be there when Dave asks him to help me...This is the good part.....Ben tells me and I quote " well, your mailbox looked like you had moved, so I stopped service"...Huh??? What??? My mailbox looked like I had moved? Hmmm.....was it decorated in a "going away" theme? Was it tear stained from saying goodbye to the other mailboxes attached to it?? Was it reading a map on where to move, and the best place for a mailbox to retire too?? Was it Mr Mail man?? Yeah..didn't think so....My mailbox was always checked..and hindsight I should have been nervous, but my god..why would I think someone would stop my service...and then lie to keep his job. Well, this review will be continued since I was able to make a formal complaint today, and for Jerome and Nancy who literally laughed at me when I called the main office looking for help, who had me on speaker phone w/o my knowledge, shame on you! I do so believe in karma and hope the three of you lose your jobs and are replaced by people who have what you 3 lack: compassion, good morals, and honesty! read more

I wouldn't normally think to rate a post office on Yelp, but I figured what the heck! I sell online and just went in to drop off a large number of packages. I managed to jam or fill their self-service package drop and headed in to the counter with my tail between my legs to drop off the rest of my packages. The staff couldn't have been nicer (I was kind of expecting a grumpy response...) and joked with me about having to report me to the postmaster. The lady that took my remaining packages was friendly and helpful. When I was done I looked around to see if they had any shoe box size Priority Mail boxes and another employee helped me look, then she went into the back to check for me! The employees went above and beyond to be kind and helpful, a great experience overall! read more

I had mail misdelivered and put it back out to be picked up and the letter carrier just walked by. I called out to him as he walked past both my house and our neighbors. He didn't respond. Then looked up pulled out his ear bud and shook his head, came back and still left the misdelivered mail. I don't know where our regular carrier is, but I want him back. read more

USPS couldn't find my address to deliver my package, even though I have a post box that they have serviced previously. Calling them up to see what happened to my package I waited patiently on the phone for 45 minutes. The on hold commercials playing over and over until I memorized them word for word. Eventually I decided that no one was going to help me over the phone so I went in to my local branch office. After waiting ten minutes in line they re-routed me to a sorting facility. After waiting a half hour in that line they asked me to drive all the way across town to this office to find my package. Waiting fifteen minutes in line here they told me to go to a back room where "customer service" was located. As they could not use my tracking ID to find my package in the front. Waiting half an hour in line for the fifth person who was supposed to help me they could not explain anything, said my package was returned to sender, and that for some unknown reason I was unable to receive mail from them in the post box they had set up for me. They promised to fix the problem and call me the next day. I received no such call, nor expect to in the near future. USPS has given me the worst customer care I have ever received, and I am now glad that e-mail is becoming the primary method of communication. I am going to see if I can use UPS from now on. read more
