Always courteous and helpful employees. Never too long a wait. Easy location. Nice variety of stamps.

This is a deplorable location for the USPS. The main post office isn't much better. Had a package delivered that they damaged and the sender filed a claim. Received a letter stating that I could take the package to ANY post office to return for the claim. The counter person was rude and very unhelpful. Finally, after being argumentative, got a supervisor to take a look and she was also fairly rude. I was told I would have to take my package to the Main office where I would need to see a customer service rep. because they apparently cannot do the whole job at this location. The Main branch is also the passport location. Again, the customer service was frustrating. The whole process for their failure to deliver a package that was undamaged took nearly an hour. Employees really need some retraining at the West Salem branch. Complete and utter infuriating situation that the USPS caused. read more

Helpful personnel, good parking, wait times are acceptable, and on-time delivery to my post office box. The only improvement I would like is more hours of access to my post office box, as access is limited to when the counter staff are present. However, there was such a severe problem with homeless people using the interior space for sleeping, eating, cooking, drug use, sex, defecating, etc., that they now limit box access to when the staff are present. Understandable, but I do miss being able to retrieve my mail whenever I want. read more

Well, the delivery people usually do well except for some delivery errors and pushing a book or document into a small box which I don't actually like. However, this time's problem is not acceptable. My item from Amazon arrived at the Post Office on Tuesday but was not delivered to my house as of Saturday. I went to the Post Office on Friday and asked them to resolve the issue but it seems they don't know where the item is yet as of Monday. Amazon kindly refunded for it though it's not their fault. Poor Amazon. I hope their supervisors check this review and improve their laziness. read more

I drop mail here alot. I like the convenience of where the office is located. They seem to get mail shipped out quickly and swiftly also. I would definitely recommend using this office. read more

I have never in my life been treated as horribly as I did from a worker at this post office. A vacant card was left in my mailbox by mistake and the post office carrier was withholding my mail. When I asked him about this while he was filling my mailbox instead of being nice and courteous he acted awful and condescending towards me. He accused me of not living at my current address and being a crazy resident that moved out and was trying to hack into the mailbox, and he accused me of "ripping up" my name card in my mailbox. That's the last thing I would've done since I literally just needed to access my mail to pay my bills. He made me feel threatened and treated me like I was a criminal. He then tried to complain about me to MY apartment complex when they 100 percent had my back and was like "well that's her property". He accused me of not living at my address and I even politely asked him to not give me attitude and he scoffed and rolled his eyes. Not very professional in my opinion. Not sure what his name is but If you see a very tall man with a long beard delivering your mail in west Salem I'd stay far away from him since it's clear that he hates women. The only reason I gave this place one star is because there was one nice lady who offered to rewrite me a name card and even was able to show me that there was two name cards in my mailbox. ( she even said he had an ego and that he was probably afraid to admit he was wrong.) I so appreciated her. As for the post office themselves, I even contacted them twice to try and get my mail re delivered and then they finally did it but it literally should've gotten resolved way prior to this. So because of one man's ingnorance I was late on paying my bills because this took so long to clear up. I'm highly disappointed in this post office employee and will continue to let the post office know how much I was mistreated. read more

I relocated from CNY to Salem, OR. I was supposed to arrive on February 1st but my flight got delayed till the 3rd. So, I put my mail on hold until I arrived. I got my mail key on the 4th but could not open my box. I tried over and over and then tried calling the post office but no one picked up. I drove to the post office on the 6th and the supervisor said that he would look into it. Tried the lock on the 7th and it didn't work. Called the post office on the 9th, they replaced the lock on the 10th. I left work early so I could pick up the key before they close at 5pm and I got there 10 minutes before closing. I was so excited to get a new key and finally get my mail after 10 days. I rushed to my mail box which opened right away BUT NO MAIL. The mail man had left a note saying my box was too full so he was going to hold the mail at the post office and if I didn't pick it up, it would be returned! I was just at the post office five minutes ago and nobody bothered to tell me that they were holding my mail! AARRRGH! Day 11. Still don't have my mail or my medication that was mailed to me 2 weeks ago. So I will have to leave work early again just to get my mail. I have never seen anything like this ever. Mail carrier is the laziest person to ever work this job. Mail goes in the wrong mail boxes daily, packages not delivered properly. I manage an apartment complex, the mail carrier left 5 packages at a downstairs apartment door, only 1 package was for that resident. The rest were addressed to 4 other upstairs units. Mail carrier was too lazy to actually deliver them. The resident brought them to the apartment office. I have called the post office to complain about the mail carrier, but they didn't seem to care. I told them they need to come pick the packages up so they could be delivered properly, he did not confirm this would happen. read more

I've had issues with this location ever since I moved here 4 years ago. I usually don't use them but I don't have a choice if a company I order from uses them to deliver my mail or packages. I ordered a $118 item on the 22nd of September, it was delayed for 3 days, now as of today September 29th I got a update saying my package has been delivered, so I went ahead and walked down to the mail boxes, we have cluster boxes so everyone in our neighborhood has a box on the same post and if we have larger packages they have about 4 parcel lockers on the bottom and will put your packages in one lock it and leave the key for it in your locked mailbox. Well the second I walked up I noticed one of the parcel package lockers was wide open with someone's package just left sitting there with the key still in the key hole like they just threw their package in without closing and locking the door or putting the key in their box, so I grabbed it because we have shady people who walk by and I didn't want one of my neighbors to get their package stolen, I would make sure to get it to them or drop it off at their home instead. I went ahead and opened up my box, got the key for the parcel locker where my package was supposed to be, opened it up and there was a package left in there but it wasn't mine, it belonged to another neighbor. So now I'm thinking okay where is my expensive package? Maybe it's in one of these other neighbors boxes? I went home immediately with the packages and called the Post office, it took about 10 try's before I finally got someone on the phone, I explained what was going on and told them I would be more then happy to go wait by the boxes if they could call and get the driver to come back so they could fix this, because at that point there's over 3 people now who doesn't have their packages, and the mail driver had to still be in the area because it was 11:14am and I called not even 10 mins later. The woman on the phone (supervisor) didn't seem to care but said she would take down my number and give them a call and call me back....I waited for over an hour and got no call back, so at that point I called and called and called, no answer, I got in my car and drove down to the post office, waited in line and then was sent over to speak with a supervisor, the woman said "oh your the lady with the messed up package?" I said "yes, and I've been waiting but haven't got a call back" she said "oh I did try to call but it was just a busy tone" I said "no I've not received any call and I've been waiting for over an hour would you please try and call it so I know you have the right number?" She said she would, and it rang just fine, turns out she wrote down the wrong number, so I said "Is the mail carrier coming to meet me to fix this?" She said "well she's busy delivering mail, when she's done she will get to it" I said "I don't accept that because if it were me and I made that big of a mistake and had a person there willing to wait on me to come fix the mistake I created I would stop what I was doing and go fix it immediately" I said " the longer this takes the slimmer the chance of me getting my package decreases significantly, because people come home and check their mail and might not be as honest as I am and would take off with my package" I said "I would really appreciate if you could call her and have her meet me to fix this" she literally couldn't care less but she said "fine I'll give her a call and tell her to go meet you" I said "thank you I would appreciate that and I'm sure the other people without their packages would to" and I left. I drove home back to where our mailboxes were parked and waited..almost 45 mins had passed as I waited and at that point it was almost 3pm and I needed to go pick up my daughter from school. So I had been dealing with this since 11:14am and still at 3pm nobody came and I still had other people's packages and mine was still missing. I ended up calling the Inspector General as well as consumer affairs and they were all shocked by this entire situation. As of now they are completely negligent and responsible for an entire wasted day as well as multiple people still not having their packages. If I could I would give them zero stars, I truly hope they get investigated and everyone involved gets fired, these people are handling federal mail and are this irresponsible and don't care even when they have every opportunity to do the right thing and fix their mess-up. These particular individuals shouldn't even be trusted to flip a burger at McDonald's let alone work for the federal government handling important documents and packages. I have to follow up with the inspector general tomorrow as well to find out what will happen next, if you can avoid going through this incompetent negligent location please avoid them at all cost, especially if you have anything important to be handled. This place deserves a 0 stars after they held a package I had been waiting to receive for 5 days with no notifications. Everyday I tracked it and it said out for delivery. The package we received turned out to be way too large so they were upset and said the other office didn't do their job correctly. Then after I paid they rolled the package out to the parking lot and dropped it and said "there's you package." This place is probably the worst ran office I've ever been too. read more

Wish I could give the West Salem location zero stars. This is one of the WORST post offices I've ever been to. I shipped a package from Salem to Portland Oregon on 12/21/18 (a Friday) and was told delivery would be Saturday. This was for a secret Santa between employees and as of 12/24/18 it is MIA. The idiot postman didn't go to the correct door for the business and left, now I'm told package is guaranteed next business day (today) due to their inability to figure it out. My gift will not be delivered in time. This is the LAST time I use USPS for anything, FedEx and UPS have my business from this experience forward. Unbelievable!!! read more

I've been in this post office twice and I thought the counter folks were nice the first time and excellent the second time. I had ordered something online and somehow my street number didn't get added onto the address.( I know I put it on there). I reached out to the shipper and they couldnt help me out and pointed me to UPS. Sooo I got a hold of UPS and started an account and tried to redirect shipment to no avail. Talked to someone and they told me to talk to the post office since they will pass it on to them in some sort of surepost thing. Sooooo I called the post office and tried to redirect it with the computer voice to no success and did not have time to wait on hold for an hour to talk to a human. Finally stopped by here and the same person that helped me last time helped me again. I gave her my tracking number she went and found that I was correct that my package had no address number tried to track it down but it was out on delivery so she got my information and told me she would call me before the day is over that I can pick it up or have them deliver next day. A couple hours later the package made it to my doorstep! Absolutey ecstatic! I was half expecting a "sorry can't help you" answer based on the reviews so far. Excellent customer service! read more

The absolute worst post office I have ever been to. Went there to drop off a package I had already paid shipping for online and the women working there completely berated me and went on this whole spiel about how my package was going to cost me $70 to ship! She was horribly rude and bitchy, was extremely impolite and when I asked questions she just talked down to me like I was stupid. I hate this post office and will never be going there again. Don't waste your time or money here, go to a FedEx or UPS. read more
