It was decent. We are new to the area and still trying out the many restaurants in Mansfield. We were feeling like a salad so we tried Salata today. We both had a small salad. Don't be fooled by 'small' - they're plenty big as a meal for one person. We both had the mixed greens but there were many greens options. Then came a myriad of vegetable options, the cheese, beans and more. Then dressings galore. All of these are included in the base salad price. $9.95 in my case with the small salad. Then came the protein options, both animal and vegan. I got grilled chicken and my wife got grilled salmon. The salads are made in stainless steel bowls. Near the end of the line, they use tongs to toss the salad well with your chosen dressing. My wife had 2 different dressings, both on the side. Then you can choose bread. I chose none. My wife chose what looked like baked of fried pita bread chips. Adding protein to the salads drove the cost by $3.95 (chicken) and $4.95 (salmon). My wife ordered a tea - that was $2.75. With tax and 15% gratuity, our lunch out cost $38.89. Not inexpensive. We both felt the lettuce and vegetables were all fresh. The proteins were great too. She enjoyed her ginger tea as well. Was the value there? This is a close one. I felt it was a bit too spend, yet I did enjoy the meal. Salata for me is a place I will return to, but will not be in heavy rotation. I've patronized this location for years, but the service has taken a turn. Today they put the completely wrong dressing all over my salad, (it was not the Lemon Vinaigrette that I faithfully get and what was requested) ruining my birthday meal. When I called to ask for a resolution, the manager on duty was unhelpful and rude. Instead of trying to remedy the issue, she offered to write my name down and give me a free extra salad dressing for a future visit. When I explained that didn't help my currently ruined dinner, she promptly asked me to hold please and then hung up the phone on me. My wife stumbled upon the fact that they are open now today so we decided to stop in. If you aren't familiar with Salata, they are the "Subway" of salads. As a result, you get stuck in a queue with a bunch of people in front of you and it's held up by people being stupid and not being able to choose whether or not they want tomatoes. This place uses the typical deceptive sizing technique in which the regular size is way too large and the "Small Salad" size is honestly still too large. Go with the Small Salad at $7 rather than the $8 regular salad. Their romaine lettuce isn't from an affected area with the ecoli out break so that is good. They have a wide variety of vegetables and cheeses to add to your salad. They have several salad dressings as well. What you don't realize when you get in line is that all of the proteins are $3 or $4 extra. You're now looking at a $10 salad. Ouch. I went with the Chipotle Chicken which I thought was pretty good. They have other options such as salmon and shrimp as well. The drinks are a bit different. Their back wall has a selection of teas on tap. My wife really liked hers. They do have four fountain soft drinks on a fancy tap handle including diet coke. They also have bottled soda as well. It looks like they do have some wine available. The one advertised was $7 a glass. We also had a cup of the Tomato Basil soup. It was just ok. We probably wouldn't do it again. All in all this is a decent place for lunch but pricey. I wouldn't recommend taking the whole family here for dinner unless your kids just really love salad. If you did, you are easily looking at $40 - $50. Food is fresh. Place is clean. Staff is multiracial. Yet the white ladies seem to think that all black people are together. White man ahead of me got great treatment. Had all of his salad prepared in one go. Myself and the couple behind me had to seemingly have everything done as a group. They had three salads while I only had one. Yet I had to wait. My only note is the price point- the salads will cost a pretty penny, around 16 dollars for a medium size. I have loved Salata for years now since I stumbled upon their University Park location for the very first time. Super excited that they've been expanding so much and finally made it to Mansfield! The salad is not cheap, but since when has salad or any healthy food been cheap? It is a small price to pay for a delicious salad with tons of toppings to choose from, plus, you cannot put a price on treating your body well and fueling it correctly. Besides the base for the salad (can be baby spinach, kale, spring mix, salata mix, or a combination of any of those) that comes in size small or large, you can ask for more toppings as long as it's not one of those premium $1 topping (avocado, artichoke and couple more things). My favorite has been salata mix with some kales, chipotle chicken, and herbs vinaigrette. I haven't tried any other dressings, but plan on doing so one of those days. I love their teas/lemonade tap option. All the teas are organic and unsweetened (they have different types of sugar and sweeteners for your liking). They come in tap and self-serve which make it pretty unique. I am a sucker for green anything and the fact that their main theme color is green, plus the to go container is pretty lime green just make me love this place even more! read more

Only saving grace is the food. The service is slow, nothing is stocked and ready to go even when they don't have much business. The manager sits on his phone in the back of the store while other employees talk about whatever he's focused on with his phone (this has happened during multiple visits). The tables have crumbs and not cleaned - also when business is slow and multiple employees sit behind the counter doing nothing. I ordered through DoorDash for lunch today. The salad was really huge. All the toppings are on the bottom so you have to dig in the container to find them. They did put cheese on the salad. I double checked my order through DoorDash to make sure I didn't accidentally select cheese and I didn't. Salata also included the order form the delivery driver completes in the bag and the driver didn't select cheese. It's ok. The Spicy Chipotle Chicken is very spicy. A little too spicy for me. Pros: The salad is pretty good, lots of topping choices; pretty clean environment. Cons: I do agree with others, the topping portions are very small; I had to ask for an extra scoop or two, to make the portion right. I had to even ask for extra lettuce at the beginning of the line, as they had barely put any on the tray. My small salad cost me $10, because I don't add protein, or any other items that cost extra. If I did add the extras, I would agree that the price for a salad would jump up drastically, for a small portion size, that I've observed given to customers ahead of me in line. CUSTOMER SERVICE was horrible. The employees did not smile or greet customers at anytime. This is me witnessing them perform, serving the 4 customers in front of me, and personal interaction when it was my turn. They looked bothered, so unhappy as if they didn't want to be there. One of the best qualities that this chain has is that all items, regardless of what they are, have a calorie and carb content for those who are watching their weight. I like that you can pick whatever ingredients you want, but someone else handles it with gloves. I'm not the biggest fan of buffets where people stick their hands into everything. The only thing I was disappointed in was the soup because it was lukewarm at best.
