My mom and I both got food poisoning from this restaurant. We were sick as a dog. Imagine waking up from your sleep with a terrible aching stomach. I only ate 2 tablespoons of her salad and got this sick. This is the second time Salata Mason has gotten me sick. I will never be back to this location, which is unfortunate because I love the concept. If I could give zero stars I would. I hope this review will prevent anyone else from getting ill. I have always loved the restaurant but they were very stingy on providing the amount of food when you select them. They do a two finger pickup and for the price that I paid was upsetting. I always get the salmon and the size they had displayed was very tiny compared to the Memorial City Mall and Katy Freeway location. Maybe in a sit down restaurant ok but not chipotle style place. I also agree they could add 1 more person to the assembly line and 1 more cashier which would make the line move much faster. The problem though is they don't have enough seating to accommodate people coming through the line faster. There would be a backup for seating which kind of already happens. So I had super sub par service . First off when I was getting my salad the server took some of my spring greens out of my bowl when I asked for spinach on top. I thought that was really rude .... next I asked for cilantro, the container was empty. The server then stated they were out. I knew that was a lie and told her to check. She looked under the counter n said we are out. I said are you sure .... she then went to the back and brought out 4 containers full of cilantro! Yum! I always have a great meal at Salata! This is my current favorite place to have a salad and I love the herb marinated chicken added in! The honey mustard dressing is great also if you like mustards as much as I do! This location inparticular provides a pretty decent parking lot as well as a good sized seating area. Some Salata's I have been too are very tiny. The service is always quick and the staff are friendly and make you feel happy to be their customer. Really enjoy my experience everytime I have gone! My problem was waiting in a line of 3 people for 5 minutes. I didn't understand why it was taking so long until it was my turn to select a salad. The waitress didn't understand one word the people were saying. Luckily I speak a little Spanish. The other thing I didn't like was the amount they give you. I order a regular salad and when it came time to add cucumbers she gave me three small pieces. I asked for a little more and she gave me one piece. One piece was the size of a peppermint candy. I didn't understand why. Did she think I wasn't going to eat them. I mean I am 6'1" 285lbs and I like cucumbers A LOT. So this is my top salata. I usually go here because I have always had a great experience. However, I went the other day to pick up a to go order. When I arrived my salad was not ready yet. Even though I arrived at the correct time. However, I understood as there were only two people serving due to the recent coronavirus. So I was not upset about thatSo as I am waiting for my food to be prepared, the lady that was making the food was talking excessively over my food. I understand that talking might be a required her job. However, the proximity of her mouth to my salad was beyond close. Not only this, but as I was waiting for the gentleman that was with her to bag my salad. She did the same thing to the order to go orders. Which these people weren't even present so they have no clue. I called to inform management. The first gentleman the Assistant Manager I believe was highly helpful. The GM I believe acted as if I was out of line. FYI: you don't have to be showing any symptoms. As I told both of them, I definitely was not trying to get anyone in trouble, but just wanted to bring awareness to the issue. I have always enjoyed salata & tried various locations, but I must say this is my third time trying this location abs it has been a disappointment at least twice. One time I came abs the staff was completely in a twilight zone during the entire service and in a rush towards the end. I wasn't too worried because sometimes I understand you can't always control your staff and everyone has bad days. I went today with the hope of a month of so apart something has improved, but sure enough was I wrong. This location was completely out of most of their lettuce types and veggies not restocked. I feel like it's not the customers job to ask if you have lettuce or veggies in the back when you can just restock when you see it's out. Myself and another customer asked did they have a specific lettuce in the back because the trays were empty and sure enough they had fresh lettuce in the cabinets. Some of the other lettuce wasn't fresh looking. I watched the lady putting the salad in the container spill some of the salad on the countertop and put it back in their container. That is disgusting because no one knows if those countertops are clean. The lady mixed my salad in a hurry and handed the salad to the guy to bag it up without fully making sure it was fastened up. Smh I'm glad I stopped the guy to say can I make sure the salad is closed tight. This location is giving other salata restaurants a bad name & it's really ridiculous. Being a new location the staff is a little slow. I am confident they will pick up the pace. They are super friendly so it makes up for it! If that is the worst thing I can say then they are doing alright. They give you a great portion size which is more than I can say about some of the other locations who want to charge me an extra dollar for "extra sides". I have given this location roughly 10 tries hoping for improvement, but seems to be getting worse. The owner really needs to spend a few nights at this location to see the disappointment in the reviews first hand. Im headed home with my take out in record time. In midst of a Saturday lunch rush this salata team came together and made it look and feel seamless. However their hardwork didnt go unnoticed. Im at salata a couple times a week. This one has set the bar high. And erased some of the tainted memories. This team today was polite, professional and make some great wraps. A restaurant trading on fresh healthy food should provide a clean place to consume the food. This was my first visit and the dining area was filthy. Food, napkins, and dirty bowls covered over half the tables and the floor was not much cleaner. A prep person came out of the back and sat down at the filthiest table to take a break. She moved the dirty bowls around to have a place to put her drink - finished the drink and left the mess. I complained to the crew leader who reluctantly sent someone out to clean. I found the servers hard to hear and they seemed to be displeased that I was there. The process for one employee to serve one customer all the way through the line sounds great, but the slim staffing level makes this slow and tedious for the customer. read more

A lot of people complain about the slow service, but I went today (Friday) @3-4pm and it was practically empty, so no service problem. There were some small things that I didn't like. It's kind of overpriced. I had a small salad w/ chicken & a drink and it was $12! For that money they should at least give people a bigger portion of chicken, because what they give you is not enough! Also, I chose the little squared bread with a little cheese on top and it was horrible! It tasted bland and stale! I only took a bite and stopped eating it. My mom had the brown one and that was way better. At the end, I didn't like to take the dirty bowls to the trash can and place them on top of other people's dirty bowls; it just feels and looks disgusting. I've always been a Salata fan so I was really looking forward to their grand opening in Katy. What a disappointment! The counters were a total mess, with vegetables, sauces, and meats contaminating other containers. The servers didn't have a clue what was going on. My server was wiping counters with a dirty rag and touching food with the same gloves. When I asked her to change gloves, she gave me a blank stare. I also requested that she use a knife that hasn't touched meat to cut my wrap because I am vegetarian. She turned to the other servers who rolled their eyes and cracked jokes with one another about my request. Simply unacceptable! Please learn how to treat your customers with more respect! read more

The food here is good (which is why I'm giving this two stars rather than one), but after an unpleasant experience I had with the staff, it made me never want to eat here again! After waiting in line for over thirty minutes, I began to select items for my salad wrap. I accidentally asked for salmon in my wrap, but I quickly retracted my request, and asked for chicken instead. However, the employee had already placed the salmon in the wrap, and then refused to take it out! I politely asked her to remove it, but she kept refusing! After I kept insisting she remove it, she angrily took it out and then yelled something to the cashier which I didn't hear/understand. When I went to pay for the wrap, I realized my wrap was a lot more expensive than my friend's, who basically got the same thing I did. I discovered that this was because the employee told the cashier to charge me for both the salmon AND the chicken, even though I only ended up with chicken in my wrap. I was very skeptical on coming here based on other Yelp reviews but I figured I'd give it a try. My first impression was they were understaffed. At one point the line was nearly out the door and they only had three people on the line, three including the cashier. It took forever to make my wrap and then there was an issue when it came time to pay and it seemed like nobody knew how to fix it. Do yourself a favor and try another location. read more

The salads are great, and there's a wide selection, which I love. There really is something for everyone, which is definitely key. However, the service is what prompted me to give this location a 1-star deduction. During my most recent visit, the girl behind the salad bar began to make my order and about 1/2 way through she tells to wait just one second so she can fill up one of the containers that's nearly empty. I have zero problem with this of course, I completely understand that you have to refill the containers and make sure there's enough of everything, but you really ought analyze a situation and recognize whether it is the right time to do that or not. So when she proceeded to fill up every container in her section I was fairly annoyed. Perhaps this is something the workers are told to do by a manager/owner, but it was inconsiderate and unnecessary. There were about 5 or 6 people behind me, and the girl was taking her sweet time. Another thing: once again, I don't know if workers are instructed not to do this, but I am never asked whether I want pita chips or a bread roll. In fact, I have often asked for a bread roll only to have the employee proceed to give me pita chips simply because he/she didn't hear me (because they weren't expecting me to say anything, I suppose). This is an honest mistake, therefore I don't feel it would be honest to knock another star off, but I definitely hope that next time I am asked whether I want bread or pita chips! read more

It's got a Chipotle/Subway/Build your own kind of thing going on and that's what makes it so great. You'll choose what size bowl you want, what kind of lettuce (spring mix, spinach, kale, romaine, Salata mix) then move on to the tasty toppings (tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, bean sprouts, mangoes, onions,strawberries, jalapeños, beets, hard boiled eggs, olives,corn,etc) followed by your choice of meat (chicken, shrimp, salmon) or falafel and quinoa for us vegetarians. You then can select your dressing and they have many here and they all seem good. I like the herb vinaigrette, it's light and fresh and very good. They also have different nuts/seeds you can place atop your salad if you like and get this? When you ask for avocado they slice it and peel it right there in front of u and place it on top of your beautiful salad.
