I found out about Salata from a coworker who told everyone in my department about it. I had never been much of a salad fan and was even more skeptical when I saw the prices on the menu. But due to me following the workplace crowd, I decided to take a chance on it. The Salata location in the Atlantic Station section of Atlanta allows you to place your order online and then pick it up after you choose your pick up time. The pick up times are between 11 am and 9 pm. I've never actually been inside the restaurant because there are a couple of people at work who go and pick up the orders. Their salads (before adding extra ingredients) costs $8, the small salads are $7, the salad wraps are $7 and they have a kids meal for $6. They also have soup, desserts and drinks. Their choices of soups are tomato basil, broccoli, and chipotle white bean. The soups are $4 in a bowl and $3 in a cup. Their drinks are various types of lemonades, tea or bottled water and they cost $2 each. Their desserts are cookies (either peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, white choc macadamia, chocolate chip) and cost $1 apiece. My favorite part of ordering is deciding what I want to build my salad with. First, you select your lettuce/greens (I usually choose kale or spinach). You can select as many of their toppings, cheese, nuts or dressings for no extra charge unless you choose artichoke hearts or avocado (they are $1). Most of the time, I load up my salad with broccoli, tomato, corn, green peas, black olives, parmesan cheese, grapes and chopped egg. Some of the other toppings available are bean sprouts, carrots, mushrooms, bell pepper, jalapeno, cilantro, cucumber and others. After that, I choose my dressing. I always get the fat-free sun-dried tomato dressing but they have ten other dressings to choose from as well. The part that really adds to the price of your order is the protein. Vegetarians don't have to worry about this much but the meat is the favorite part of my Salata salad. I normally get the spicy chipotle chicken and it adds $3 to the price of my order. Some of the other proteins they have are turkey, krabmeat, salmon, tofu, shrimp, Asian barbeque chicken, and a few others that cost either $3 or $4. You can double up on the amount of meat you get but that will also double the price of your protein. I never thought I could enjoy eating a salad by itself until I started ordering from Salata. Myself and some of my coworkers order from there once a week now. And the salad is so big that I can only eat half of it at once. I save the other half for lunch the next day. The food itself is worth five stars but I'm rating it a four because they have made mistakes on my order twice. Once, I only got the regular amount of protein when I'd paid for it to be doubled. On another occasion, I ordered a peanut butter cookie for dessert and they ended up giving me a small packet of Skippy peanut butter instead. But that's not enough to make me stop ordering from them. It's not quite the same as Cosi if you're familiar with it ,but the concept is similar. You pick your salad base and then you get to pick from a selection of fresh an delicious toppings. They also have several protein options that look tasty as well. This is in the old Moe's location at Atlantic station so they have outdoor seating. The dining area is very spacious, light, and airy. You get to customize your salad or wrap with over 50 topping options. Everything is made fresh and in house (try the croutons). I ordered the small salad with herb grilled chicken. It was fulling and had great flavor. I like that there are so many varieties to custom your meal- no one meal will be the same. This a great healthy and fresh option added to the Atlantic Station scene. The customer service was great and hope it stays pass the first Opening month. Stopped into this salad spot for lunch one day as I was in Atlantic Station. An employee behind the counter greteed me immediately and was ready to take my order. I like the layout of the ingredients counter and the large number of options. Everything is customized so, I chose a salad which I think was around $12. What I really like about this place is you could get as many of the free toppings (quite an extensive list) as you want. Other places limit you to around 4 toppings or so. We visited Atlantic Station after a long hiatus. We were in search of a quick in and out restaurant, when we came stumbled upon this place. We were pleasantly welcomed as we entered the store. We walked up to counter and proceeded to understand how the whole ordering process works. We were totally surprised by how large the regular size salad bowls were and the variety of toppings. It really seemed endless. The server prepares everything so you don't have to worry about people messing over the salad bar. They actually had labels so you did have to guess what the topping name. Quick critique- when I went early Fri evening for a take home dinner, there was only 1 dude behind the counter & while he was diligently working as fast as he could, the line behind me started to build. Not long after that another worker came out & she was just as efficient so the wait wasn't too bad. I think it would make sense for this place to have easily accessible menus somewhere near the lines so you can review what you'd like on your salad while you wait instead of getting to the order counter & having to make a decision on the spot. Anyhoo I chose a large salad mix of romaine & mixed salad as my base. This place gives you unlimited complimentary basic toppings so I added black olives, red onions (very strong! don't choose if you're gonna be social after! lol!) cabbage, mixed cheese, avocado, & pumpkin seeds with herb shrimp as my protein (proteins cost extra & "premium" proteins like salmon or shrimp cost more). I topped it all off with a tasty, spicy chipotle ranch dressing. The worker stirred everything together in a large metal bowl & poured it into a cute plastic green container. This salad was YUUUUGE & could've easily fed me for 2 days. You can choose between a complimentary multigrain roll, sesame sticks or pita chips to accompany the salad. I like this place because I like a good salad and the ingredients are generally pretty fresh every time I've gone. The salads are large and filling and you can get an unlimited amount of non-meat toppings which is great because I hate being nickeled and dimed for every little thing. I go here almost every week as I work nearby. I will say that on occasion they get bogged down with a long line and just can't seem to move quickly enough. They do offer an online order + pick-up option which I use almost every time I go but that doesn't mean my salad has always been ready when I get there, even if I arrive much later than my scheduled pick-up time. Also, ordering avocado for an extra $1 is not worth it. The last time I did that it was literally about one slice with the skin still intact. I've also ordered soup to go and had it leak all over my car because they didn't wrap it up very well at all, just a lose cardboard container rolling around. My friend and coworker LOVES Salata and since we're around the corner, we go to Atlantic Station a lot and she comes here 2-4 times a week. From her -- the food is always fresh, she absolutely loves all of the toppings and that she can get egg as a protein without an added cost. But what makes this place better than any other Salata or restaurant? KINDNESS! The staff are some of the most friendly and considerate folks in the city. Yesterday it was POURING down rain, and we were eating outside under the umbrella before it started. We finally decided we have to make a run for the restaurant and try to wait it out.... We look up and the manager or franchise owner opened the door for us to more easily run in. But it doesn't stop there... this AMAZING guy runs back into the rain because BOTH of us left our purses on our chairs trying to run inside. He gets absolutely drenched grabbing them for us.... but his first move when he gets inside is to get napkins for us to dry our purses because HE FELT BAD THEY GOT WET! Oh my gosh I really can't write enough good things about the kindness I experienced. A restaurant focusing on salad that has one of the largest selections of salad bar items I've seen to date. Salata is the latest restaurant in Atlanta to jump onto the build your own meal craze. Salad bars are not a new thing - they've been in the supermarket, in our work cafeteria, even in Chinese buffets. Salata makes the salad bar experience premium - to the point where you want to go back for more salad. Location/Parking: Salata is located in Atlantic Station in the little area of restaurants that include Boneheads and Which Wich. Parking is free in the parking garage underneath Atlantic Station for 2 hours without validation. Ordering Experience: Compared to other restaurants with so many serving stations, I'm impressed with how efficiently everything moves. You can first choose a small salad or a large salad - unless you don't have any place to store leftovers, I'd recommend just going for the large. First you get to pick from several different leafy greens, including two types of spring mix, romaine, or spinach. Move onto other vegetables, which include broccoli, radish, onions, peppers, and bean sprouts. The legumes selection includes black beans, chickpeas, kidney beans, and green peas. Cheese on top or fruit mixed in comes at no extra charge. The only things that cost more on the line are the proteins, which are either regular for $3 (chicken) or premium for $4 (salmon, for example). Top your salad with nuts and then take bread if you want at the end. Not only was the server polite, he was also able to give recommendations for a protein based on what I had already picked for my salad. What I Tried: Large Salad ($8 + $3 for Asian chicken) - The servers are generous, so add as much as you want. The greens and all of the fruits and vegetables are fresh. Chicken is pre-cut in chunks and marinated in different sauces for convenience. It's not as good as having a piece of chicken cooked to order and then chopped on your salad, but it is still tasty and moist. The ginger lime dressing had a good balance of citrus and lime. Verdict: Grading the salad considering protein quality and dressing flavor, I would give 4 stars. Bumping the overall rating up to 5 stars because of value, the line efficiency, the extensive choice of ingredients, and how fresh the fruits and vegetables are. Was there on a busy Saturday night at Atlantic Station and there was a line for only one reason - they had ONE woman behind the counter trying to keep up with everyone herself. It's a long salad bar - think Chipotle with salad- and this poor woman was trying to put on your toppings, move you down to the next section, take the next person's order, put on their toppings, and so on and so on. They easily should have had three people back there doing what one person was handling. If they get that figured out, this will definitely be a winner. A few weeks ago, I received a coupon for Salata in the mail. Since I had never heard of the restaurant but am always looking for new spots that offer fresh, healthy dishes, I decided to check it out. This Salata is located in Atlantic Station, right next to The Burger Joint (talk about temptation)! I parked at stairwell 8 in the garage since I typically park there when going to Publix, and the restaurant was just a short walk away. When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with a vast selection of salad options--multiple types of lettuce, fresh toppings, and dressings. You can either order a salad, or a salad wrap. At first, I was hoping for some pre-selected options (rather than be left to my own devices), but I quickly decided to try to replicate a salad I always get at Chopt in NYC--lettuce topped with black beans, jalapenos, avocado, tomatoes, black olives, green pepper, cilantro, chipotle-marinated chicken, and chipotle ranch dressing. I ordered a regular salad, and it was HUGE (could have gone with the small), but delicious. I love how they show the calorie count on all the options (allows you to make smarter decisions). I was pleasantly surprised with how many toppings they offer, so I'll definitely be back to try a new combination, and maybe check out one of the soups. What a great concept. Pick a bowl size and fill it. No "sorry you can only have two in category A and three in B," etc, etc. The ingredients are really good and they have two light dressings. One is just a mild salsa and the other is a light mango vinaigrette dressing. I got a large all vegetable salad for $8 and it filled me up very nicely with zero guilt. Along with my salad I got a wheat roll. I expected the usual afterthought bread roll most places give out. Not a chance! This was a closer to a whole wheat crescent or croissant without the copious butter that usually comes with that. Really this was a great treat to have with my salad.
