My bf and I happened upon this place while in NJ for an event and WHAT A FIND! I love it. The atmosphere is super chill and welcoming. The staff are lovely. There aren't too many customers inside because it is still a relatively new location. The food is very fresh. They have a multitude of options that cater for all dietary restrictions. There is ample free parking and spaces to sit. I think most people carry out but I think it would be a great place to sit and get some work done. I wish there were more locations like this around the MD area because I would for sure eat there. If I find myself in this area again, I will be sure to stop by.

Lunch panic averted -- and what a find!…read more I didn't bring lunch to work and was deep in the "what am I going to eat?" struggle when The Great Wazu popped up in my search. I'll admit, seeing that it was primarily a sandwich shop made me hesitate since I need gluten-free options. But I was thrilled to see they offer gluten-free bread -- and even more relieved when I spoke to the incredibly kind server who walked me through their celiac protocol. As someone who worries about cross-contamination, that conversation alone put me at ease. I originally planned to grab something quick and rush back to work, but I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the place is. For a strip mall location in Parsippany, there's actually plenty of seating, and the atmosphere feels welcoming and comfortable. Bonus: tons of parking, which is always appreciated. The menu has so many tempting options -- sandwiches, wraps, salads, chips, sweet treats, and beverages. Once I saw they had gluten-free bread, I may have gotten a little carried away and ordered two sandwiches: the Walnut Cranberry Chicken Salad and the Italiano. No regrets! Both were generously portioned and packed with flavor. I was especially impressed that they use four slices of gluten-free bread per sandwich -- which is thoughtful since GF slices tend to be smaller. For the price, that extra effort really stood out. I also grabbed a side of coleslaw and their homemade potato salad -- both fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the sandwiches. Friendly service, great gluten-free awareness, generous portions, and lots of variety -- I'm so glad I found this spot. I'll absolutely be back to work my way through more of the menu.

We were greeted ebulliently by the very nice server, and the service was great throughout the meal, with two servers and the chef or manager (both?) checking on us. There is an extensive menu, from which I chose the Jersey Carbonara and my dining partner had the Shrimp and Pancetta Risotto. Both entrees were delicious and filling, The restaurant bakes delicious bread, which is light and fluffy and somehow tastes vaguely cheesy also. We rounded off our meal with what I hope was a decaf capuccino--one of the smoothest coffee drinks I've had the pleasure to sample--and a truffle with two kinds of ice cream and a little jujube inside. 10/10 would eat there again.

Boonton, NJ - walking into Alhara, we were hit with an uncanny sense of déjà vu, and quickly…read morerealized it used to be the location of another favorite Middle Eastern eatery called Al Aqsa. Despite the surface similarity, it is a totally different restaurant with new owners. Alhara brings a regional focus on Syrian cuisine in a fast-casual format, featuring shawarma, falafel, build-your-own bowls, loaded fries, salads & soups, and dips and sides like labneh, hummus, and babaganoush. On paper, it sounds familiar and formulaic, but lemme tell ya, Alhara is anything but ordinary. Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food is everywhere in NJ & NY, with no shortage of pretty excellent options. I've eaten my way through a fair share of them, but found the quality and flavors at Alhara to be distinctive, exceptional, and a cut above. The homemade sauces are unlike I've had anywhere else, with unique taste profiles that are flavorful and complex. The garlic whip and babaganoush are out of this world, the falafel is just perfect (crunchy and fluffy in all the right places), the long grain rice is delicious and seasoned just so, and the shepherd salad holds its own. Nothing is bland or average. Be sure to try the pomegranate sauce - not homemade but an uncommon condiment that'll pleasure your palate with a sweet-tart zest. Being first-timers, we wanted to try everything and ordered a couple of bowls with all different kinds of toppings, sides and sauces. My bowl was so heaping with all the fixin's that the sauces had to be served on the side. You can order from a digital kiosque or at the counter. The owners (a lovely couple) were friendly and patient with our questions even as we stood over the kiosk for an eternity with decision paralysis over what to get. Alhara has been open for about 7-8 months. Boonton is full of good eats, and this is a welcomed addition to town and definitely a new favorite!

Alhara Schawarma was fantastic as soon as I walked in. Told the owner I'd never been before but had walked by numerous times, and he said let's change that. Had a beef/lamb schawarma sandwich with crispy Saj bread - thinner than a tortilla - fries and then drizzled with pomegranate sauce that breaks the savory and salty flavors in the sandwich. Delicious. Served with plastic gloves as the "pomegranate can make it messy", but probably wasn't needed but a nice touch nevertheless. Also had cup of lentil soup served with lemon, was very nice. The owner wanted me to try the chicken schawarma, so gave me a small cup. Delicious. My new favorite find in the Parsippany area.

We were discussing burgers yesterday and Habit came up. I'd never eaten at one. He wanted one. Perfect. Pulls in at 8:45, takes a few minutes to figure out the ordering kiosk. I will therefore note this is an issue to anticipate. The order itself didn't seem to take too long. As for what came home with my friend: * Intrigued by the dragonfruit limeade. Would be something to keep in mind if I find myself at Habit again. * I enjoyed my burger. The patty was the weakest part, very plain and underwhelming. But the portabello mushroom and associated toppings? Mwah. That all made the sandwich. But the best burger places know how to make the meat score points. * My friend got the tempura green beans. Apparently those were just OK, maybe not tempuraed enough. I noticed when looking at the sides, every dipping sauce costs money besides ketchup packets (m'eh) and none of them really looked that interesting to me. So the upsides? Good value, tasty mushrooms. The downsides? Limited selections, uninspiring burger meat. I'll call it a strong 3 stars and if I do end up here (or another Habit) I will reconsider.
