Ginger dressed salad
Sue W.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon in July around 1:00 PM. There is plenty of parking. They weren't very busy, and we were immediately taken to a table. There are lots of tables and bar seating. The inside much more decorative than it looks from outside. Service was good although the plates could have been picked up a bit quicker. We all ordered a draft beers. My spouse had the Dragon roll. I ordered the Shrimp Teriyaki Lunch box. I asked for light teriyaki sauce and subbed a Philadelphia Roll for the California Roll. There was an upcharge of $2.00. Our friend got the Hibachi Lunch Chicken and Shrimp. The food arrived fairly quickly was plated nicely. The small salad had crisp lettuce but too much ginger dressing for my tastes. We all enjoyed our choices. If you have a hankering for Japanese food, this will hit the spot.

We LOVE Sakura. The owner is amazing and to find such fresh sushi in a small mountain town is awesome.

Zero customer service. Manager and hostess were horribly rude to my family and the food is awful.

Do they cook in front of you or does your food come from the kitchen?

We do have a large selection of hibachi entrees, but we do not cook in front of you, it comes from the kitchen.

We came on a whim and discovered this gem 15 minutes away from Maggie Valley…read more Store is beautiful and clean. We came on a Thursday late afternoon/Early evening and got sat quickly. Waiter was spot on - tended to us quickly to get our drinks. He came and took our order and food came out fairly quickly. The vegetable tempura was great - not greasy and this one had broccoli and eggplant (I dont like eggplants but I am sure someone will.appreciate this). Fried rice - even though it was kids, it was fantastic. It was not oil soaked and the flavor was so clean. Even my picky husband said it taste so good! Rice was not mushy.. it was, excellent! The Chow Hor Fun? I wont lie... I disnt have high hopes as a restaurant in the Carolinas. Boy was I wrong! The noodles were al dente, beautiful mix of all the veggies and protein. Sauce was a little sweet for my taste, so I was able to request for some chilli sauce and was all good. Also, not greasy. I was happy. My husband got the tuna sushi nigiri, tuna roll, salmon nigiri and white tuna. It was really good! Everything was bright and did not smell fishy. Last note - portions are freakin HUGE! Like i ate a third and took the rest' and the container was full. My daighters "kids" fried rice was packed to the brim. Expect left overs, u less your a competitive eater. The price, value and quality, this was def a 5 star - our first and only in our vacation here. Highly recommend - speaking as a Chinese vacationing in the carolinas that was getting desperate for any semblance of chinese food

Based on my own personal experience while having lunch at Watami Sushi And Noodles on 33 South Main…read moreStreet, Waynesville, North Carolina, I can NOT recommend this establishment for the extreme hostility and hatred I experienced there by the staff on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. While I do wish to acknowledge that Watami Sushi And Noodles does have the absolute legal right to deny anyone service; the staff of Watami Sushi And Noodles does not have the legal right to discriminate against anyone and violate anyone's Civil Rights on the basis of race, religion, and/or creed. Around 1:15 p.m. on  Wednesday, May 13, 2026, I entered Watami Sushi And Noodles on 33 South Main Street, Waynesville, North Carolina with the only goal of having lunch. When the hostess saw me, she had a look of absolute shock terror on her face and instead of greeting me with a "Hello" or "Welcome," she immediately tried to get me to just get take out only.  Only after repeatedly stating several times that I didn't want to order take out and that I wanted to dine there, she waved to a host/server who took one look at me and loudly said "OH" before seating me at a small table in the middle of the establishment.  Please note, there were other diners there. None of the staff was friendly or welcoming and rebuffed my attempts at conversation.  The waitress had an angry expression and tone with me, but not with other patrons in the restaurant. I ordered Chicken Teriyaki with a Green Salad and a side of Miso Soup.  Both the Miso Soup and Chicken Teriyaki were lukewarm, boarding on cold.  The Green Salad was crisp and fresh.  I didn't get a chance to finish to soup or the salad because it was taken away post haste once my lunch order had arrived. Now why did the staff of Watami Sushi And Noodles act they way they did when I entered their establishment. Well, this is just my opinion, based on their actions:  they didn't welcome or want an observant Jew who was wearing a yamicha, along with business casual clothes, in their establishment. ZERO STARS.

I've driven by Sakura for years. The lil' missus wanted sushi yesterday. She googled sushi- says…read moreSakura has 4 stars and it's a buffet. Ok let's try it. Parking is tight. 2:30 Sunday afternoon and there is a line. It's dark. It's old. It's cramped. It's packed. Pay as you enter at some booth that looks like a fortune teller would be sitting in it. If the fortune teller was indeed there- they would say you are about to be forever changed. We paid- got seated- and headed to the buffet. Holy guacamole Batman. It's tight and crowded. They had prawns or maybe crawfish- missus loved them. They had shrimp. Fried fish looked rough. They had everything you can find in a Chinese food place. They had miles of noodles, piles of egg rolls and dumplings and spring rolls. They had ice cream and cookies and desserts. They had cakes and puddings and yes- a salad or three. If you got to a buffet and eat a salad- you got issues I can't fix. The final test: missus says she didn't see red jello. It isn't a real buffet without the red jello. I went looking. Yes- three kinds of jello. How did everything taste? Missus liked it all and really liked the potatoes ( why, just, why.) I thought the place was absolutely terrific. Old and a bit tired but the food was so very good. The service from our waits was good. She would say to people "I see you" and smile as she took the empty plates or refilled glasses. We paid $12.99 per person, plus $3 per person for drinks. With tip is was like $38 ish bucks. I can spend that at Freddy's or Burger King for two people. So- if ya haven't been there, try it. If ya have- you hopefully had the same great experience we did. Ive included a photo of the jello, just to prove how authentic Sakura is.

I was in town on vacation and was craving some Chinese food and this was the only Chinese buffet…read morearound. Surprisingly, this place stays open until 10pm nightly. Walking in, I was surprised to pay first before you eat as most places I ever been to is eat and pay later. The variety here is actually decent as I expected it to be a lot smaller than anticipated. They have their sushi bar, hibachi (cook to order), fried section, cold bar, salad bar, and dessert area. I really enjoyed their hibachi made to order areas. The cook definitely had some skills. The flavor was definitely on point! The dumpling dipping sauce was amazing. Best I have ever tasted. I am shocked this place didn't get better reviews. The waitress was attentive and kept clearing our table and giving us refills. The ice cream and fruits here was not bad at all. The quality of ice cream was very good and I really enjoyed it. Coming from Atlanta with all the Chinese buffets, I am very surprised to actually enjoy this spot. I highly recommend here if you're in town wanting some good Asian buffet. Price was just right as well. I can't wait to come back!!
