It's light and filling. The ramen bowls are rich and the miso vegetarian Ramen is much more bold, flavorful than I had expected. The carrots and roots were caramelized with a sweetened hint. The ramen bowls are generous in size. I'm bookmarking this place to come back!!! The waitresses gave us several recommendations and her shows through her service and her recommendations of local shops to explore after our dinner.

We received our appetizers first (miso soup) and Yellowtail Shooters. We had to wait another 15-20 minutes for another dish to come out. Our friend had ordered some nigiri and the sea bass or breem had a bone in it. We notified the waiter and they were kind enough to give him a different piece of nigiri. We had to wait another 30 minutes or so to get our orders of the Bluefin Tuna Deluxe. The Akami was fine but the otoro and chu toro were slightly fishy and had a lot of cartilage in it. I will say the wasabi sacue they have is pretty good but overall the wait times for our food and the fact that it came out in waves definitely hampered the experience as well as the mediocre tuna. The miso eggplant is served as well cooked Japanese eggplant with a light tempura treatment and somewhat sweet miso glaze. Not too heavy, but still delicious and nicely textured. The broccoli was perfectly cooked with lots of flavor. It made for a nice pairing. In terms of beer, they had a few different local beers on tap. I went for a local pale ale. Great. In any case, this place is highly recommended. I suspect their vegetarian ramen would probably be pretty good, but that was a little heavier than what I was looking for. Both were very good, the godzilla roll in particular was extremely tasty, the crisp crackle of the tempura blending perfectly with the satiny spicy tuna. The heat level was perfect, building over the course of eating the whole roll. This is definitely one of my favorite downtown lunch spots, and they deserve the accolades they have received as the best sushi spot in Asheville.
