First thing I want to say is the food was delicious. My husband said the food was as good as ever and for what you get the price hits right on. If that had been all I was going to post about this would have been a 5 star. What hurts this rating is the waitress we had. If I had not known better I would have thought that we had entered into one of Dick's Last Resort restaurant chains. From the very beginning before a word was spoken there was immediate attitude and why the heck are you bothering me eating here. Me ordering Jasmine tea apparently set the evening off horribly for our table because that was too much to ask. Right now I cannot have a soy because I am breastfeeding and my baby reacts very strongly when I have had it. So obviously I'm avoiding it very purposely. Usually soups are safe, but Asian restaurants will add soy to many things and I wanted to be sure it was not being added to the soup, noodles, or any of the meats they are using. The waitress said I don't know and then stop talking. And then when I gave her a look of encouragement like soooo. She said but I guess I can ask. She then proceeded to go to the back with complete attitude and annoyance written all over her face and body. I don't normally judge people by their appearance but if her attitude had not been in what it was I don't think I would have started analyzing her overall appearance... her hair was a greasy mess holding on to dear life to stay in the 'bun' and her overall appearance was sloppy. She came back and told me the soup does not have soy in it. And I asked...they checked the ingredients to make sure no soy was added to any of the process meets. She gave me a look and said the cook said there was no soy. I am sorry but my baby is very sensitive to soy. I can't be messing with this stuff. And I don't get her attitude. Now this was my fault I didn't realize they had pho. So I said would you mind making sure that everything in the pho is without soy as well and asking them again about the processed meats to make sure there's no soy in them. She says ... well it's pho...and then just gave me this smirk. So I just repeated myself...would you please go check. So she leaves again and comes back with another waiter and he informs me the ingredients aren't listed. So I got a little attitude this time because I just couldn't take this anymore and I said...so you guys just grabbed the food from the garbage then because there's no ingredients listed? I know, totally did not help the situation. He then says the ingredients aren't listed on the boxes from US Foodservice. Which is the biggest baloney I've ever heard in my life. For severe allergy reasons, there's no way US Foods can sell food without having all the ingredients listed. At this point I just can't take any more I said can you please just have to cook just confirm that there's really no soy or even just talk to me about maybe what I can have that for sure will be safe to eat. They come back and the cook says they're not coming out and there's no soy in the pho. I get why they're not coming out I'm pretty sure there's only one cook for the whole restaurant. I have pretty much given up and I don't trust what I an about to eat. I felt really horrible about all this. This used to be my husband's favorite restaurant when he lived here over 10 years ago. The 2nd waiter was very nice and ended up taking care of us the rest of the time and the other waitress left. It just really set a bad mood for our time there and my husband was so angry. That never happens. So again the food was good, but if you have food allergies, don't come here.

Had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. We love Thai food and weren't sure if this place in the middle of the mountains would be good, but it was great. We got Tom Kah with shrimp, which was amazing. The cheese rolls had a crispy shell and creamy insides. Delicious. We also had the papaya salad, which had a great flavor and came with cabbage and peanuts. The spicy basil fried rice was awesome. We got it with beef. It was all great, but the best thing was the Phad Ped Seafood. I don't think I've had a better Thai seafood dish. The flavor permeated the entire dish, the seafood was tender and succulent, and the heat level was just perfect. It's also a Boone family recipe so check it out.

Food was good and customer server ok. It would be nice if they were open more often than not. A little run down but still charming.

None of the spaces are marked but it's not difficult to figure out where to park. Since the lot is gravel, be aware if you have mobility issues. You can park near the entrance but not adjacent to the building so there will be at least a short walk to the door. There is also a small step up to the porch in front of the door. The pickup window is next to the entrance door which is a nice touch as the interior is small and would certainly get crowded if to go orders had to wait inside. The interior is small with table seating for about 20. There is also a small outside patio for warmer weather dining. There are several windows allowing you to look over the very near river. We got there shortly before they opened and were seated within a minute of entering. We got a nice corner table next to the river. Our servers were very pleasant. They went over the menu and specials and were very patient answering any questions. One thing to note is they do not allow substitutions, so read the menu description carefully to be sure you know what you are ordering. We wound up ordering their daily specials. Unfortunately, I forgot to take note of what they were called. One was a curry and the other included short ribs and soup. We also ordered spring rolls. The spring rolls were brought to the table in about 10 minutes. They were hot and crunchy and excellent. The dipping sauce was a touch spicy and really brought out the flavor of the spring rolls. The main dishes were brought out after about another 15 minutes. The curry dish was outstanding. The meat was tender and seasoned very well. There was a slight overall spiciness to the dish, but it quickly settled into a warm glow that simply begged for another bite. The short ribs and soup special were also outstanding. The ribs were cooked perfectly with the meat falling off the bone. The soup was flavorful and the ingredients fresh. We ate until we were stuffed and then ate a little more. We simply could not finish everything and took the last bit with us, and it was just as good reheated the next day. We also decided to take a mango and coconut milk dessert to go for later in the evening. This was a wonderful finish to a great meal. The mango was fresh and flavorful. The coconut milk and sticky rice made for a great taste texture. For such an unassuming building the dining experience would rival that of any big city. The fact it is located in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina allows it to offer an experience unrivaled by any better known restaurant. If you are anywhere near Sylva, you own it to yourself to partake of a meal at Dalaya.

Waiter was spot on - tended to us quickly to get our drinks. He came and took our order and food came out fairly quickly. The vegetable tempura was great - not greasy and this one had broccoli and eggplant (I dont like eggplants but I am sure someone will.appreciate this). Fried rice - even though it was kids, it was fantastic. It was not oil soaked and the flavor was so clean. Even my picky husband said it taste so good! Rice was not mushy.. it was, excellent! The Chow Hor Fun? I wont lie... I disnt have high hopes as a restaurant in the Carolinas. Boy was I wrong! The noodles were al dente, beautiful mix of all the veggies and protein. Sauce was a little sweet for my taste, so I was able to request for some chilli sauce and was all good. Also, not greasy. I was happy. My husband got the tuna sushi nigiri, tuna roll, salmon nigiri and white tuna. It was really good! Everything was bright and did not smell fishy. Last note - portions are freakin HUGE! Like i ate a third and took the rest' and the container was full. My daighters "kids" fried rice was packed to the brim. Expect left overs, u less your a competitive eater. The price, value and quality, this was def a 5 star - our first and only in our vacation here. Highly recommend - speaking as a Chinese vacationing in the carolinas that was getting desperate for any semblance of chinese food
