The food was great. Best Chinese in the area. Service was decent. If you choose to just do take out that's your purgative. Don't put up a sign stating that you're the owner cook server etc. Not much for ambiance as it's just take out but looked like it would have been a decent dine in experience at one point. After hitting up a couple of breweries in Franklin, we were hankering some Chinese food. My brother-in-law found Fortune House on Yelp and we decided to give them a try. He called and placed our order, he was told it would be 30 minutes. After about 15 minutes, we headed over to Fortune House. He went inside to wait on our order. A short while later he came out with our food. He mentioned there was only one man working inside and he was doing everything from answering the phone to cooking. We arrived back to our cabin and the food smelled great! The crab rangoons were delicious! They tasted freshly fried, weren't greasy and were loaded with sweet cream cheese filling. The egg rolls were on the smaller side but tasted great as well! The general tso's chicken was very good! The chicken had really good texture and minimal breading. The sauce had a good heat level. The orange chicken had a kick, too. There were actual pieces of diced orange mixed in with the saucy chicken. Both chicken dishes tasted fresh and were delicious. The fried rice was very simple but tasty. I absolutely loved the garlic soy sauce that came on the side. This was unexpected and paired perfectly with the fried rice. Don't judge Fortune House by their appearance, give them a try today! read more

Best take out in Franklin in my opinion! Don't plan to eat there--this is strictly a pick up and go joint. But even traveling 20 home with the food after picking it up it was by far the tastiest chinese I've had in years! I ordered the beef lo mein (it was chock full of big chunks of beef and chopped veggies and the noodles had great flavor) and general tsos (chicken was perfectly cooked and the spice level on the sauce was absolutely perfect! it was not just a sweet sticky glaze like most chinese joints). Our first visit. It's take out only which is ok with us. That's what we wanted. Turnover time was quick. Food was hot. We ordered egg drop soup with crunchy noodles and crab rangoon. The crab Rangoons were the best we have had. And we have had them at many places. They were very full with fillings and tasty. Not greasy at all. Very good. We also had the chicken with cashews. Super good. The sauce was extremely good. Lots of veggies in the dish and a very generous amount of cashews. The chicken was tender and flavorful. This will not be our last visit. read more

We had the appetizers of braised short ribs and steamed dumplings along with the hot and sour soup. The service was good. The steamed dumplings were made with store bought won ton wrappers (much thicker than the homemade variety) and were stuffed with what appeared to be unseasoned pork. Pretty flavorless. I was passing through Franklin, NC and saw this restaurant. I stopped in for lunch and my beef lo mein was fantastic. If I eat at a Chinese restaurant for the first time, I will try lo mein or fried rice or hot & sour soup. While these are simple dishes, if they can't cooked it, why should I try anything else. Fortune House lo mein was spot on. Beef was tender; noodles were tasty with great garlic flavor. The portion was large for lunch. Service is prompt and attentive. Food is fresh and well prepared. My favorite is shrimp with lobster sauce. The menu is huge with a lot of variety. Prices are all very reasonable. The new owner seems determined to put himself out of business :( When the previous owners had it, I picked up dinner every Friday evening. Since it has changed ownership, the service is bad (you stand at the counter wondering if anyone knows you are there for a loooong time), they are using a different dumpling for the steamed dumplings and they are awful, the last two times I picked up my dinner (over a month apart), the container is only half full (it used to be completely full) and there is almost NO sauce in the broccoli with garlic sauce...it's tasteless and just steamed broccoli. Franklin desperately needs a good Chinese restaurant, but no matter how bad I wish for Chinese on Friday night, I won't waste any more of my money at Fortune House :( read more

Since our favorite Franklin Asian restaurant was closed for vacation, we stopped at the Fortune House. What a mistake. The $14 Seafood Delight was imitation crab hell - absolutely tasteless.
