To go only.. I think it's a husband and wife team in the kitchen.. food has great flavor and the portions are huge.. The owners are super friendly.. isn't much of a dining room.. it looks like it's been closed down for a while.. Just a awaiting area for pick ups.. we go at least every other week.. good stuff.. read more

Generous portions, even for big eaters, good value for what you pay . Our second time, carry out only. Yelp itself is increasingly difficult to use, making it hard/impossible to read individual reviews read more

Absolutely delicious. HUGE portions. Ready exactly when the online order system said it would be. This one man show is a Franklin Gem.

The food was great. Best Chinese in the area. Service was decent. If you choose to just do take out that's your purgative. Don't put up a sign stating that you're the owner cook server etc. Not much for ambiance as it's just take out but looked like it would have been a decent dine in experience at one point. The owner does watch for you to add a tip and that's why I took two stars away. read more

Togo boxes were full to the brim! Best value I've ever had and food was great. Don't let the other comments steer you away from this guys restaurant. The owners obviously a hard working man doing it all on his own and cares more about giving you great food with even better value than anywhere else. read more

Always a ton of food .. delicious and fresh. Great price for the amount of food you receive too! Would def recommend.

Just not good! I went in to pick up my food & the place was sweltering & he had set up a makeshift AC. The place is also dirty. It's sad that we don't have any other options in our area. The place in Highlands is good, but very expensive for what you get. read more

After hitting up a couple of breweries in Franklin, we were hankering some Chinese food. My brother-in-law found Fortune House on Yelp and we decided to give them a try. He called and placed our order, he was told it would be 30 minutes. After about 15 minutes, we headed over to Fortune House. He went inside to wait on our order. A short while later he came out with our food. He mentioned there was only one man working inside and he was doing everything from answering the phone to cooking. We arrived back to our cabin and the food smelled great! The crab rangoons were delicious! They tasted freshly fried, weren't greasy and were loaded with sweet cream cheese filling. The egg rolls were on the smaller side but tasted great as well! The general tso's chicken was very good! The chicken had really good texture and minimal breading. The sauce had a good heat level. The orange chicken had a kick, too. There were actual pieces of diced orange mixed in with the saucy chicken. Both chicken dishes tasted fresh and were delicious. The fried rice was very simple but tasty. I absolutely loved the garlic soy sauce that came on the side. This was unexpected and paired perfectly with the fried rice. Don't judge Fortune House by their appearance, give them a try today! read more

The owner came out with his hands covered in some sort of grease, and wanted to swipe my card to pay. NO!. The restaurant is dirty and disorganized. My Mongolian Beef was very soupy. Will not order there again. read more

Always delicious and tasty! Service is slow but order ahead of time. Great value as portions are very large.

Best take out in Franklin in my opinion! Don't plan to eat there--this is strictly a pick up and go joint. But even traveling 20 home with the food after picking it up it was by far the tastiest chinese I've had in years! I ordered the beef lo mein (it was chock full of big chunks of beef and chopped veggies and the noodles had great flavor) and general tsos (chicken was perfectly cooked and the spice level on the sauce was absolutely perfect! it was not just a sweet sticky glaze like most chinese joints). The egg rolls and dumplings were also very very good. I cannot wait until we order it again!!! read more

I have been going here for a couple of years. Food is amazing and portions are the best for the price. The service is great and it's easy to order. read more

Our first visit. It's take out only which is ok with us. That's what we wanted. Turnover time was quick. Food was hot. We ordered egg drop soup with crunchy noodles and crab rangoon. The crab Rangoons were the best we have had. And we have had them at many places. They were very full with fillings and tasty. Not greasy at all. Very good. We also had the chicken with cashews. Super good. The sauce was extremely good. Lots of veggies in the dish and a very generous amount of cashews. The chicken was tender and flavorful. This will not be our last visit. read more

I have never had a bad meal here whether takeout or dine in. Owners are a little hard to understand but, their food is fresh and very good. Chicken with cashew nuts is my favorite. read more

Really, really, average Americanized food. Cheap, fast, easy, average. Completely forgetable. The staff was very pleasant but tend to YELL from front to kitchen. Its so average, I cannot come up with anything outstanding or horrible to say. Nuff said. read more

Food and service was fantastic! It's the best Chinese food I've had in my life. Glad to support this business

Amazing food and unbeatable prices. We ordered chicken lo mein and the orange chicken and it was fantastic. The fried rice was yummy and you could tell it was fresh and the egg rolls were out of this world. The staff was very friendly. We will be returning for sure. read more

I have tried this place a few times, and each time it seems to get worse. The food is mediocre at best. Wontons are my guilty pleasure, but the last two times they were greasy and not even cooked enough--doughy and chewy. Even the sweet and sour sauce was watered down. Three strikes and out. read more

We had the appetizers of braised short ribs and steamed dumplings along with the hot and sour soup. The service was good. The steamed dumplings were made with store bought won ton wrappers (much thicker than the homemade variety) and were stuffed with what appeared to be unseasoned pork. Pretty flavorless. The ribs came slathered with electric red very sweet sauce. Probably store bought as well. The hot a sour soup was acceptable. read more

My family and I really enjoy the Chinese food at the Fortune House. We order take-out online and then go to the restaurant to pick up our food. The food is delicious and the prices are fantastic for everything that you receive. read more

Went for dinner, was turned away due to large to go order. I don't know if any restaurant that would turn people away, but this one did.

Service is prompt and attentive. Food is fresh and well prepared. My favorite is shrimp with lobster sauce. The menu is huge with a lot of variety. Prices are all very reasonable. This is a family business and not part of any chain. The pride they have in their restaurant is well deserved. read more

Fortune House - Nice atmosphere - Chinese Near Me - Franklin, North Carolina

I was passing through Franklin, NC and saw this restaurant. I stopped in for lunch and my beef lo mein was fantastic. If I eat at a Chinese restaurant for the first time, I will try lo mein or fried rice or hot & sour soup. While these are simple dishes, if they can't cooked it, why should I try anything else. Fortune House lo mein was spot on. Beef was tender; noodles were tasty with great garlic flavor. The portion was large for lunch. It came with fried rice and an eggroll too, great lunch deal. read more

The new owner seems determined to put himself out of business :( When the previous owners had it, I picked up dinner every Friday evening. Since it has changed ownership, the service is bad (you stand at the counter wondering if anyone knows you are there for a loooong time), they are using a different dumpling for the steamed dumplings and they are awful, the last two times I picked up my dinner (over a month apart), the container is only half full (it used to be completely full) and there is almost NO sauce in the broccoli with garlic sauce...it's tasteless and just steamed broccoli. Franklin desperately needs a good Chinese restaurant, but no matter how bad I wish for Chinese on Friday night, I won't waste any more of my money at Fortune House :( read more

Since our favorite Franklin Asian restaurant was closed for vacation, we stopped at the Fortune House. What a mistake. The $14 Seafood Delight was imitation crab hell - absolutely tasteless. The $10 House "Special" Lo Mien had hardly any meat/seafood...only noodles. Will never, ever, never go back. read more
