Although a year ago I had a terrible Experience here . It has greatly improved with space and sound reduction. The sit down meal was on glass plates with Corteous staff. Chopsticks supplied! Traveling for work & wanted something light for dinner. Came across Kobe Express. It's small, unassuming, with several tables in the busy dining room. Owner was very friendly and helpful. My sunset platter with nigiri sushi & a California roll was generous & pretty good. read more

Sushi is one of the best around fantastic price, good choice and menus and you can tell they make sushi good because it doesn't fall apart when you're eating it read more

Well, since I come from the West Coast, where you can't sling a dead cat without hitting a teriyaki restaurant, it's very popular however it is prepared far different than here. But that is no reflection on service, it's simply the way they prepare their meals. So I was very disappointed in my meal. Again, I just wasn't expecting what I got. I thought it would be done like they do back home. I do not know anything about their commonly served Japanese food as I just can't eat it. I would not order from this restaurant again. If I got teriyaki like back home, I would be a customer all the time. read more

i had called in a takeout order for 3 rolls of sushi while traveling, turns out this was a totally different place. the man said he could have my order done in 12 minutes if i went ahead and ordered, so i did. the sushi was amazing! and at 3 rolls and broth for $30 it was a great deal. i'm not from here so i don't know if ill get to come back but 10/10! read more

this is overly price food. i will never go there again. cost over $70 for 1 person. yes, i'm yelling !!!

I have to start out by saying my first experience here was not good, I decided to give it another try and I am glad I did, I love the sushi, I have had many of their plates and I would definitely recommend if you are in the mood for sushi! read more

Stopped here on a whim, and was shocked at the quality of the sushi rolls. Wife ordered hibachi beef. I ordered a paradise roll. First of all, the roll was huge. I have a good appetite, and struggled to finish it. The flavors and combination of fish was extraordinary. Perhaps one of the best rolls I've ever had. Wife's dish didn't have as much flavor, but quality and quantity were excellent. Not sure what those other folks experienced, but service was great, and we ate on nice ceramic dinnerware. The place is clean, with granite tables. We will make this a regular stop when we pass through here. read more

My daughter and I ate here two weeks ago and it was not good. We ordered tempura - tempura greasy the batter was closer to funnel cake. sushi - spider roll is not soft shell crab; but they battered imitation crab in the tempura batter/ fried it put it in a roll with a mayonnaise sauce. Fried rice - was white rice with peas... definitely not fried Hibachi chicken and steak - this was the best meal we got, it was fresh, hot with plenty of mushrooms, however they didn't have hibachi ginger sauce... they brought ginger salad dressing and charged us extra. read more

Eaten here several times, always great food, good portions and reasonable prices. Got the chicken and scallops, but also have had the teriyaki chicken. Very tasty read more

The food is always made fresh to order and is always excellent. The service is friendly and efficient. However do not expect great ambiance. They do a great carry-out business and they do have basic table service. It is a great place to get a good meal at a reasonable price, and the restaurant is clean and neat. However don't expect great atmosphere. read more

The clear soup is super flavorful!! Absolutely wonderful! The service is a little slow, but the food is pretty decent. The "jumbo" shrimp leave little to be desired. I would hate to see what the regular sized shrimp look like. They do not have sake which is a staple for me when I go to Japanese steakhouses. They were very accommodating for substituting zucchini instead of fried rice and carrots. All in all I would give this place a 3.5. read more

Pleasant surprise in the middle of BBQ and traditional American food region. Egg rolls were very good as well as the jumbo shrimp and dumplings. The sushi was on par with a good sushi joint closer to the coast, portion size was huge on the rolls. Overall great value and pleasant service! read more

Me and my fiancé have absolutely fallen in love with Kobe Express!! First time we went we tried three different sushi rolls and some other things (obviously had to take some home) absolute perfection and the atmosphere is very pleasant especially when you have social anxiety I felt like I was at my dining room table here. (Sundays however are a bit crowded due to after church rush) but 100% our go-to date night spot now read more

I've been coming here for a couple years on occasion as we have a vacation home here. Before Covid, it was good, but since it continues to get worse. No air conditioning in building, you eat in on foam to go plates and plastic utensil's. Service is awfully slow. Only on person to wait dining room, work register and handle take out orders. Don't think I'll be going back. read more

The food is great and you definitely gets your money worth. I always get the shrimp and chicken hibachi with the extra veggies and I always have a doggie bag. The employees are always very nice and helpful. The service is fast and friendly read more

Love the sushi, fresh and delish! Big Portions on entrees, could have shared - but enjoy taking some home for next day so Can't complain about that. A little warm in the restaurant area today especially for summer but definitely clean. all Good things to say about the food and service. Be back soon, see if cooler atmosphere - if not, To Go it is, wouldn't pass up the food due to that. read more

Really great place! My friend and I were on our way back from a trip and wanted to grab a bite to eat. We typically stop at franchises (where we know we're going to get what's consistent) but we decided to try out this place! I'm always a little hesitant to try out random side road places (because they're either a hit or miss) but this place was definitely a HIT!! We got the Tornado Roll & Hibachi Shrimp. The roll came deep fried and was soo good, we were probably in awe for the first bite. And the hibachi shrimp was fresh! Just like the other reviews has mentioned, the food tastes very fresh here. I really enjoyed the carrots that came with the Hibachi shrimp. They were soft and sweet instead of hard and cold some places typically give out. Definitely recommend! read more

My family has been going to this place since it opened. We get the same thing every time. We love it, and now that I live out of state, I make it a point to eat here (take out) every trip into town. It's become a tradition. Sadly the last two times we've ordered food here, it has been a bit disappointing. I'm not sure what has happened, but the portion sizes have literally been cut in half. However, the price has remained the same... We may give it one more shot, but if that's the new standard we won't order here anymore. It's EXPENSIVE, but we don't mind paying for good, quality food. Consistency goes a long ways though and lately it hasn't been that. We always order the chicken/shrimp and rice. The box is always full. The last two times the box hasn't even been half full :-/ read more

It was a generally a good place to eat. I'm the food was really good I prefer the catamount roll but I'd definitely eat hear again

Eh it's okay I guess with a name like Kobe express I would have assumed they would not be using home style sweet carrots as a side dish with their hibachi dishes ..... pretty weird and makes no sense at all .....typically they are sliced thin and sautéed in with the other vegetables and are kept al dente I mean they don't taste bad or whatever but carrots that style they just don't belong in these style of dishes ... just do yourself a favor and get rid of them slice your carrots thin and at a angle and cook them al dente and stir fry them with everything else ... also whoever preps and makes your sushi rice needs to learn how to make sushi rice this is just friendly criticism ..... it's too starchy which is a indicator that whoever is making the rice does not know how to rinse the rice until it comes up clear before you cook it .... also it could be an indicator that you are not mixing your rice vinegar with the rice in a WOODEN bowl that's another key factor or you could be possibly using too much rice vinegar .... or packing the sushi rice on too tight last time I went there to eat I felt like I was eating a dense packed glob of sushi rice and it took away form the filling in the roll.... when your sushi roll feels like there's a lot of weight to it and it's THAT dense because of the rice there's a problem .... I've eaten onigiri (rice balls) less dense than your sushi rolls and that's just BAD ... again friendly criticism ....also you should make your own sauce for the top because it literally tastes like you guys purchased squeezable fucking Hellman's mayonnaise from the store and just put it on top this isn't a turkey sandwich from subway ....you have to use a Mayo more the style of kewpie sushi Mayo or make your own spicy Mayo to put on top .... the eel sauce you use is fine and the sauces you use for the hibachi is fine also other than that everything seems just fine also add more complex Americanized specialty rolls onto your special sushi roll menu ...... do those few things I said and you guys will be in a way better position thanks for hearing me out also the only reason people around here like your food is because they aren't used to anything better because this is a small rinky dink town please improve on your sushi and change the carrot thing ...... I live local and I like the flavor but those things need to be worked on and I don't want to have to drive to Asheville to get decent sushi ... please you guys are like so close to being a decent place by me if those things were just changed read more

I've eaten there twice now I been a sushi and Japanese food fan for many years the staff is friendly and courteous. I love thier food and the people there is a great place to get sushi and sashimi I prefer the simple rolls like the spicy tuna rolls.
