I saw this place from a person I follow on tiktok. It looked like Benihana from back home in Cali. But sadly no comparison to back home. We sat down there/ordered are 2:55 and got our food at 3:35. I order the Sushi smoked salmon cream cheese avocado (was ok, pretty small roll, no sauce not too flavorful). I also ordered the Hibachi ribeye chicken and shrimp. (Tasted more like beef rice than fried rice). Ordered Starry but it was Sierra Mist because that always tastes like dirt to me.

Not sure of the name of the roll!!

The service was prompt. The restaurant is clean and quiet. The food fresh, good, and temperatures were as needed.

Hidden gem! The food was delicious. I do think they have an overstaffing issue as there was about 15 staff in there with 3 tables full, but I'm not complaining haha! For there being so many people, however, we waited about 10 minutes for the check while no one else was there. Luckily, we were not in a rush and it ended being a very nice experience.

Filet Steak and chicken hibachi

Business was brisk on a Wednesday evening after 7 pm. Our family of three was able to get one of the last tables in the dining area. There is also a hibachi area which looked full and I saw people waiting for that side. We ordered pork gyoza which are fried and tempura shrimp for appetizers. The hibachi dinners came with soup and salad with choice of dressing (we chose ginger dressing). I picked the shrimp hibachi, son chose the shrimp and filet steak hibachi, and husband chose the steak hibachi. Portions are huge and we brought home three boxes worth of leftovers. It is a good value for all the food! Our hibachi came out so quickly that the shrimp tempura came out last. They also have sushi menu but we did not partake on this visit. They do have a happy hour pricing between 3-5 pm on weekdays as well as lunch specials for additional value. I am a big fan of Japanese food so I am glad to add this one to my repertoire when I am visiting the area.

This place has good food but it's kind of more Chinese I think than Japanese! My photos will affirm that! But the chicken and shrimp was good And I'm sure like a staple for this place it's like teppon style when served.Pot sticker sauce yummy . I'd return if in thr area again

Nothing we're still waiting

We've waited 3 1/3 hours to be seated. Ate the nastiest house dressing possible. The soup had zero flavor and now we've been waiting a hour bc our cook isn't ready.

The food was top notch for sure! Some of the best hibachi food I have tasted. Even when I ate the leftovers the next day, it was still really good! 5.0 for the food!!! The service was good! The chef was also top notch and he was very kind and he just focused upon the task of making sure our orders were exceptionally fulfilled and it surely was! He was so kind! I wasn't expecting a full piece of Salmon but it was the best. I just chopped it up on top of my rice but my favorite food item here was the Salmon! The only downfalls to this place was that they do not take reservations so it is first come, first served basis, which makes the wait time a little longer before you're seated. We waited 45 minutes to an hour. Also, it is a pretty tight knit restaurant. Everything is pretty close together, so if you're uncomfortable in small, tight spaces, I would advise you to complete a take out order. They do have two areas in the restaurant, which is very convenient. One area is the regular tables within the restaurant to order food and the back area is another part of the restaurant for the hibachi cooking, which is the one where they cook in front of you. There are 3 grills and they sit about 8 people at each grill. Other than that, everything was really good! Lastly, I like how accommodating they are to your requests! An individual at or table requested no teriyaki sauce on anything and he understood and honored her request. My husband asked about getting two soups, instead of a soup and a salad, and they did just that. I'm grateful that they are kind enough to do that!

I came here in April 2024 with some friends during vacation, and I really loved my meal! Our chef was very charismatic, kind, and prepared everyone's food in a timely manor. The only thing I will mention, which I see from other reviews as well, is the wait time. I will also note that we walked in for lunch without a reservation. We waited only 5-10 minutes for a hibachi grill table, but from there waited an additional 30-40 minutes for our appetizers and for the chef to begin preparing our meals. The wait staff was pretty laid back so we weren't able to put in additional drink orders since they were rarely around the take them, but I promise if that all wasn't an issue, this place would easily be 5 stars! I'm considering just doing take-out if I am ever around Pigeon Forge again.

I've driven by Sakura for years. The lil' missus wanted sushi yesterday. She googled sushi- says…read moreSakura has 4 stars and it's a buffet. Ok let's try it. Parking is tight. 2:30 Sunday afternoon and there is a line. It's dark. It's old. It's cramped. It's packed. Pay as you enter at some booth that looks like a fortune teller would be sitting in it. If the fortune teller was indeed there- they would say you are about to be forever changed. We paid- got seated- and headed to the buffet. Holy guacamole Batman. It's tight and crowded. They had prawns or maybe crawfish- missus loved them. They had shrimp. Fried fish looked rough. They had everything you can find in a Chinese food place. They had miles of noodles, piles of egg rolls and dumplings and spring rolls. They had ice cream and cookies and desserts. They had cakes and puddings and yes- a salad or three. If you got to a buffet and eat a salad- you got issues I can't fix. The final test: missus says she didn't see red jello. It isn't a real buffet without the red jello. I went looking. Yes- three kinds of jello. How did everything taste? Missus liked it all and really liked the potatoes ( why, just, why.) I thought the place was absolutely terrific. Old and a bit tired but the food was so very good. The service from our waits was good. She would say to people "I see you" and smile as she took the empty plates or refilled glasses. We paid $12.99 per person, plus $3 per person for drinks. With tip is was like $38 ish bucks. I can spend that at Freddy's or Burger King for two people. So- if ya haven't been there, try it. If ya have- you hopefully had the same great experience we did. Ive included a photo of the jello, just to prove how authentic Sakura is.

The Appalachian made a horrible day excellent. I am moving from DC to Texas, stopped for the night…read morenear by just to eat at The Appalachian. I had been here once before and the food was so good I had to come back. By the time I got to my hotel, I was running late for my reservation and got a call from The Appalachian checking if I was going to make my reservation. I let them know that I had just arrived at my hotel, traffic on I-81 held me up and I was going to order an Uber as soon as I was off the phone. Coming from DC, I expected an Uber would be at the hotel door steps within a few minutes, I was wrong. I was then crushed by the realization that I was wrong, I wasn't gonna make my reservation. I knew that on a week night The Appalachian's kitchen closed at 9. Ride.I called them back to let them know of the situation and expressed my desire to have their Wood Fired Lamb. The Gentleman that answered the phone simply responded "it's going on the grill now, we will see you when you get here. F-ing amazing, turned my stressful and painful day completely around. Uber'ed over, walked into an empty restaurant on a weekday where I would guess dinner customers might have been light and they held the staff for little old me. The Appalachian had just moved to the top of my list for I mean best restaurant I've ever been to in my life. Unfortunately, for them, my favorite restaurant of all time in the United States shut down when I was in my early 20's so they'll never get a chance to compete.. But they just bumped Alligator Soul in Savannah Georgia to number two still in existence in these great United States. The Appalachian is a must dine at least once in your life, top tear resistant. Out F-ing standing, must F-ing dine at some point in your life. To the staff of The Appalachian, thank you for taking care of me went you could have told me that you close at 9pm. Thank you for watching out for this old man DC IRIS (AKA Savyon)

First off, the restaurant is truly stunning! Service was excellent too. We started with the Fried Chicken Skins. My friend had heard good things for a friend, but we weren't particularly impressed. I had the Hanger Steak as my entree, and it was delicious. I especially loved the potato dumplings! My friend had the Kansas City Strip, cooked medium rare, with broccolini. Initially, the steak was overcooked, but the staff quickly cooked another steak and made it right. Overall a really good experience! Downtown Sevierville has really evolved, and we enjoyed walking around and exploring after dinner.
