This place is overwhelming but in a good way! First of all, if you haven't seen a bear yet, you can here. It's not like back in the day where it's a concrete hole with a bear in it. It's more like a zoo habitat and very nice. You can find tons of souvenir items in this two story building including personalized items. Then you have to find the candy counter. So I guess I have been to this place before. It's literally a tourist trap. You go down one aisle and you get stuck in a maze that you can't get out of so you can have to go through all these different aisles looking at stuff. We came earlier in the week to see the bears but we arrived too late so ended up just getting ice cream. Keep in mind the bears are only available for viewing 10 am to 6 pm. They have a whole section with homemade candies, fudge, ice cream, etc that is nice. When we came again, the weather wasn't the best so the bear viewing was temporarily closed (understandable as there was lightning detected in the area). Before we left, we checked with the cashier who said she thought they had reopened. Surely enough, they had! The line gets long quickly but, moves fast. The price to view the bears was the most reasonable attraction in the area (3.50 for adult, 2.50 for child, infants free) so if you're on a budget with kids, DEFINITELY stop here. Basically, you get to hang around and watch them as long as you want. Highly recommend!!! read more

Came here for the old time photos. The store itself is just a huge tourist trap full of Chinese-made goods, so we steered clear of that. But our photo experience on the 2nd floor was very positive. We immediately got in and were assisted by a couple friendly staff. They had us choose our theme, then helped us suit up for our photo shoot. We got about 40 pictures taken in different poses, which were edited and ready to see in about 30 minutes. We hemmed and hawed about whether to purchase any photos (they aren't cheap), but feel like we got a good deal in the end that will give us lasting and funny memories. My friends and I went to Pigeon Forge, TN and we had such a great time there with the massive amount of activities that I were able to do there in such a short period of time. I found a cool store online and it was three bears general store. This time literally has so many things that if I were to walk around the whole store, It could potentially take 1-3 hours just exploring. You walk in firstly with like decor and decorations and there's parking right outside the store. A ton of light and a lot of stuff to see. There's a fudge store along with a Pandora, some food, and much more. This store is unbelievably big and there's so much gifts, clothes, hot sauce, glow sticks, you name it, they prob have it. P When you go upstairs, it's like walking through Christmas. It felt like Christmas when I was walking around there and it felt so weird, but good at the same time. They call this store " three bears general store " bc there's actually a live bear habitat, has 3 live bears and you can go in and see them, and feed them. You do gotta pay for entrance which isn't too expensive and the exhibit is cool. I don't necessarily support that they live in there. But yes, there are 3 bears you can actually visit and feed them. There's also an arcade in this store and literally it's small, but this store literally has everything, I MEAN EVERYTHING. From food to necessities to gifts to seeing real bears. This store is really cool to look at. We're in the middle of the pandemic and no there really wears a mask, but that's pretty much the state of TN. Other than that, we went on a rainy fay, and it was okay. I really enjoyed my time at this store/ I bought some gifts and they were really cool ones. 10/10 would recommend if you're around the area and visiting. This is a good store to browse a rainy day, especially if you like black bears. There are some deals you have to look for. There are arcade games, old Riley photographs and a Christmas store also with typical Smokey mountains souvenir and plenty of black bear items. read more

Pretty disappointed in this place. We went to see the bears and it was closed. Another person told us it's like that a lot. They have so much stuff crammed into that store it's super hard to even get through it. Didn't find anything that was worth the prices they were asking. They have more name brand things like simply southern and brumate etc. I only give them 2 starts for the fudge and the ladies at the fudge counter who were very nice. We went because our hotel had a brochure that emphasized "feed live bears!" And really worked the place up.... It was essentially an overpacked gift shop. You can barely walk through the store to get to the part with the bears because they've crammed so much stuff into the store. The bears? It was one- and he was sleeping in the corner of a room where we could barely see him, we almost thought there wasn't one. Since we paid to see him, I wish they guy at the checkout would have said, "hey- heads up, he's asleep in the corner and you can't really see him". The Three Bears General store is horrible! First I would like to say me and my husband thought it would be neat to come and see the black bears! When you first arrive at the store, the store is slammed packed with souvenirs and more! They have all sorts of stuff for everyone! They also have an arcade upstairs. If you are wanting to see the black bears aka one black bear, you have to walk upstairs. It's $3 per person and $2 for one cup food for 2 people! If you have a group of 4 you get 2 cups of feed. The feed includes an old nasty apple and some grapes. As soon as me and my husband walked outside, my heart started hurting for this bear. You could tell the bear was depressed. The cage was horrible. There was hardly any trees, anything for the bear to scratch on, and the pond that was in the cage with the bear was dyed blue. The bear it's self was so obese, it could barely walk! The bear was hurting from laying on the concrete, you could tell his hips were hurting him. The bear had caked up fur from where it can't shed properly. After all the stuff I have seen, I would never ever come back nor bring my kids. It's honestly inhumane and negligent! We came here to purchase a Pandora charm for our daughter. They had plenty to pick from but she wanted one specific to this area as a souvenir. They had about 20 of just those to choose from. They have tons of great items from hats, signs, toys, clothing, jewelry, Christmas ornaments, sweet shop and much more! You can even feed a bear on the second level. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The store was clean and well organized. They generously offered a military discount. Would definitely return. read more

We have come to Pigeon Forge 4 times over the past year and finally stopped in to the three bears store since my husband wanted to see the bears. The parking lots is always crowded so we thought it would be a great experience. We figured some shopping and some bears, it will be fun. Well instead we were disappointed. It is a huge place but everything is crammed in. With people also crammed it it is hard to get around. Most things felt pretty generic, cheap and what you can find anywhere. Nothing seemed unusual and unique with a partial exception for the handmade candy and fudge that you can see them making. The bears you go up an escalation for, note we didn't see a down escalator. The bears are $4 a person and $2 for a 2 oz cup of fruit. You go through some doors and make your way to see the bears. There at three bears there and it's a decent enclosure. The directions to feed the bears and how to get out are non existent. Lesson learned from out disorders you need to walk all the down to lower level to feed the bears. On the top level and middle level us and others were throwing the fruits over the fence because no instructions were given. If you go to the bottom there are tubes to slide the fruits down to the bears. Again no signs so it might have been helpful to know. Now when your on the bottom we saw no exit signs so we walked all the back to the top and out. All in all we won't be back nor would I recommend anyone to go. read more

Fun little souvenir store with live bears. Make sure you get there early or the bears may be sleeping already. We came around 8 and they were down for the night. The staff was friendly and prices were very reasonable. Several items that I have seen on Amazon (i.e. Dr Squatch soaps) were the same price as Amazon. I've stopped here every time I come through Gatlinburg to see the bears, and has always been fun. Try to get there for the feedings for some extra fun! read more

I go here for souvenirs every time I go to TN. They have expanded it and added several additional features but I felt like it turned from a pretty decent shop to a crazy tourist trap now. It was extremely busy and all of the shirts they sell all look about the same unlike the last time I was there. We bought fudge slices and they were very fresh but nothing to hurry and write home about... prices DEFINITELY increased tremendously but they still offer a nice selection all in 1 stop. I'll still go here as a tradition but I will be looking for something new next time. read more

The three bears is more of an overpriced swap meet than a trendy gift shop. The merchandise is outdated, cheaply made, and not up to par with other gift shops in Pigeon Forge. In regards to the bears, I was disappointed to learn that Papa, Katie, and Smokey are still suffering at Three Bears General Store and that Mandy and Honey have both died without being able to feel the soft earth beneath their feet, dig their own den, or live as bears should in any other way. Confining Papa, Katie, and Smokey to a concrete pit is causing or exacerbating health problems, subjecting them to unnecessary stress, and provoking these usually solitary animals into fighting each other. If you care about their well-being, you'll understand that Three Bears can't meet their unique and complex needs. Please allow them to be transferred to an accredited sanctuary, where they'll be able to roam, forage, and climb and have opportunities to hibernate in a large, naturalistic habitat and where they can receive the high-quality care that they deserve. read more

We were there too early to see the bears. They must sleep until 10am because even though the store opens earlier, we found that the bear exhibit didn't open until 10. We were headed back home that day, so we didn't wait around. Maybe next time. I was in the market for a personalized Christmas ornament, the kind with the year and special significance on it. My daughter recently got engaged and they had several perfect ornaments to choose from. I chose the one in the shape of an engagement ring. The lady doing the personalization on the ornaments had a couple of others ahead of me in line. I noticed another employee standing at the same table, and I asked her if she too could do the personalization. Low and behold, she could, and she did a fantastic job. Nice handwriting, it was perfect. Bring cash in to tip her, as there was a tip jar suggesting so. I sort of begrudgingly noticed it, because I felt like the price that I prepaid for the ornament was substantial enough. Call me a Grinch, ok?! Downstairs was where the fudge and a ton of other things are. Dad and I somehow had a coupons for a free sample of fudge. The lady cutting the fudge mentioned that the coupon offer only included the basic flavors and that if we wanted to get an upgraded flavor it was a few dollars up charge. I decided to go for the Reese's version and pay the charge. I got a big ol' slab, Dad stuck with the basic chocolate and was only given a small portion. Upgrading is the way to go. Oh, we also got a lecture about how she was only suppose to give one offer per household. Thanks for asking, but we aren't in the same household. (I swear I bit my tongue and eye roll) read more

My husband and I went to the Smoky Mountains recently in May. We really enjoyed taking in the beautiful mountains. We had seen lots of bear. it was beautiful to see them in their natural habitat. It was so amazing watching them. We stopped at the 3 bears general store to view the bears we only saw one. It was very pitiful, watching the bear pacing the wall back-and-forth. You can tell he was not happy he was miserable being locked up. You could tell by the way he was acting. So iam speaking for the bear. The mountains of gatlinburg are calling them home, set them free. They have a safe haven in the beautiful mountains where they belong. They are not circus bear. read more
