The Old Mill in Pigeon Forge is one of those places that combines history, charm, and great food all in one stop. Built in 1830, the gristmill has been grinding grain for nearly 200 years, and you can still see the iconic water wheel turning on the Little Pigeon River today. It's a true piece of living history and one of the most photographed spots in the Smoky Mountains. One of the best parts is that the mill is still in operation. The flour and cornmeal ground here are used daily at the Old Mill Restaurant, which serves up some of the best Southern comfort food you'll find in the area. The biscuits, pancakes, and cornbread taste extra special knowing they're made from grain ground right on-site. You can also purchase bags of their flour and mixes at the General Store to take a little piece of Pigeon Forge home with you. This review is limited to the beautiful Old Mill that stands at the entrance to Old Mill Square and its shoppes overall. Some of the places I visited here including the Old Mill restaurant, the pottery shop, the ice cream store, the candy store, and the general store are reviewed separately. The Old Mill is one of the most photographed areas for movies and TV. It is a working mill and you can see the wheel rolling along with a long waterfall off to the side. Ducks swim in the water and it's so cute to watch them. An overhead sign welcomes you to the Square. There are other photo opportunites here as well. Check out the park bench surrounded by flowers. It makes a great shot. Free parking is in the back. Watch out for traffic coming off the parkway when you want to cross the street. In addition to the above shops there is also a clothing store, a blacksmith,a distillery, a leather store and the Old Mill pottery house restaurant to dine in. Some of the stores have actual demonstations such as the pottery house and the blacksmith. You can find more about the Mill itself if you visit the general store and restaurant. During our visit we had an entertainer play his guitar on the front porch of the general store. It gave us a real southern vibe and welcome to this place. More importantly get those photos. This place is amazing. We love watching the craftsman when we visit each year. It's not very often you see a blacksmith in action. We always visit the mill and buy grits to take back home. The cafe across the street is a great stop with outdoor seating which provides a view of the lights and and mini shops in the area. When it's cold out, the seating is near the firepit that brings warmth and visual ambiance to a great lunch on the patio. During theChristmas holidays, it always lit up and the kids enjoy that part the most. There is candy store, leather shop and so many other stores that one can shop for goodies or just stroll in to take a look. Our last favorite is the Old Mill Restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each year we make it a point to visit here a few times to experience each meal time. On the way home, their homemade pecan pies make for a great road trip snack! I highly recommend this area when visiting the Pigeon Forge area. read more

Waited about 1 1/2 hours. It's a huge place that serves lots of people. I had shrimp. Husband had liver and onions. Meals come with soup, salad sides, and dessert in the $25 range. Food was pretty good, nothing great but nothing bad. Everything moves along fast to move you out for the next folks who are waiting. read more

Old Mill Square was a nice pre and post meal walk around while I was in Pigeon Forge. There is plenty of parking in the area so you don't have to worry about circling around forever. One thing to note: if you're going to Dollywood- there is a portion of the lot you can park at and take the free shuttle to the park. There is a restroom near the shuttle office. Around the area are tons of shops in an old-timely setting. Makes you feel like you're taken back to a much simpler time. The highlight (visually) is the old mill restaurant which is, well, a restaurant in an old mill and is the basis of what Cracker Barrel was created on. Definitely a cute place to stop with your family and stroll around if the weather is permitting. Stop in a gift shop or apple cider brewery if you have time. read more

This is a must-stop and the big reason for it is the Old Mill, Pottery Shop and picture taking. The Pottery Shop will most certainly have a few things you will want to take home with you. Even more than that are the other small stores that have unique items for you to look at. The General Store is just across the street. Take your time to capture a picture of the very famous mill. We stopped twice for pictures. Of all the stops in Pigeon Forge, this is one not to be missed. read more

The old Mill Square in the very popular place in pigeon Forge and has a variety of shops and restaurants, such as the Oldmill restaurant and café, the creamery, Candy kitchen, The Oldmill distillery, pottery shop, craft shop and many other unique shops. We happened To hit it on there holiday open house which we got to try many different tasty samples and watch craftsman making iron works and pottery. Beautiful time of the year with the beautiful fall colors and some really neat shops to check out. read more

We loved this area of town. We needed an easy morning after a couple of busy days of vacation and this was perfect. Very relaxing to just walk around and not be in all the crowds of Gatlinburg. Every store we went into was friendly. read more

My girlfriend and I took a stroll around the town square after a long drive to walk the dog and see the scene. There is an open field along the river that was decorated with large, light up structures depicting a patriotic theme for Veterans Day. The river was well kept and it was nice to sit and relax at its side. There are a few places to get food and small shops to browse. Overall, it's quaint and peaceful. read more
