We enjoyed this place! This town isn't just German food, they've got other options. The service and art of the walls was nice. We enjoyed the rolls but, I'd like to see a little more flavor options and choices. Maybe some cucumber or some do steak rolls now a days. We came here to check this place out as my uncle said it was one of his favorite restaurants in the area. They specialize in Thai and sushi which are to my favorite types of cuisine. It's located in Helen, which is a great spot to visit when you travel up north. They were playing lively music and we got a nice half booth seat, kind of away from everyone else which was nice. I got a lychee martini to start, which was OK. Good not great. I ordered a sushi roll that tasted just a little fishy. The roll itself was again just okay for me. Service was friendly and it was clearly a popular choice in the area. They have plenty of sushi rolls but also things like hibachi, chicken or beef if you're not a seafood eater. They also have plenty of appetizers to choose from as well like salads and meat dishes. Prices were reasonable, and they have a full bar. A pleasant experience, but definitely willing to try other places next time I am in the area. read more

We parked in the middle of town and walked. It was a bit further than we thought. We were seated quickly and ordered won ton soup and a kamikaze roll as appetizers. They were great. For main course we ordered pad kra poa chicken with added onions, and a 55 roll. It was awesome. We could tell it was going to be good by how all the regulars we saw coming in for take outs. Food came super quick and was really good. Waitress was also super nice and helpful. She does alot for this place and it shows. read more

Was not a huge fan of the food (it was amazing but not my cup of tea per se), but it was rich, flavorful and very well cooked! My server was Reid (or Reed?) and he was very nice, went very out of his way to separate the tofu from my baby brothers soup and give it to me, got us lemonade from the bar, and even got us water for our dog without us even asking!! We love Spice 55. We are not locals but come every year to this place and we are never disappointed. We sat outside because we are always bringing our dog so that was the only downside this year because it was coooold outside. The food and the service were amazing as usual. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. They even accommodated a variation in one of the dishes since my husband doesn't eat spicy food. We had the fried calamari, the spring rolls and tuna tataki as appetizers; all delicious. TomKha soup to warm up....out of heaven. The main dishes were also amazing. I am already dreaming about it again. Our server deserves a recognition also. Reed was very kind and helpful and brave enough to serve us in that weather. It's hard for me to say I *don't* recommend Spice 55... the sushi was not bad by any stretch of the truth. However, just a couple blocks away is Bangkok Haus and it is a head and shoulders better than this place... for sushi, at least. Can't speak to Thai. So if given the choice, for sushi, I would go to Bangkok Haus. But if BH is closed, this is a good second choice. We had the 55 Roll and JB Roll. The 55 roll was good, but the "dynamite" on top wasn't our favorite. We're just generally not fans of surimi (Kani) and that was the overwhelming flavor. Detracted from the roll, imo. And yet use "dynamite" in a LOT of their rolls (in or on top). Synopsis: If you're in Helen and you want sushi... choose Bangkok Haus. If, for some reason, Bangkok Haus is closed or packed... Looking for healthy food in Helen, GA? When you have heartburn from all the Helen carnival food, Spice 55 is the solution for the healthiest food you can find in this area. Consistent 5 Star quality for over a decade that I've been dining there. Plus they have a great website to order online with images of every item for Thai and Sushi. My hat's off to their webmaster. The meals are large enough to split in two, so order online for dinner and lunch tomorrow. I buy an extra chicken fried rice takeout for 2 more meals. Great place. Great service. Stopped in after having a great time tubing down the river. My kids love Asian food so was glad to see this was close to where we parked. The menu has great variety and the girls were excited to try a few things. The favorite of the appetizers was the curry potato patty. It only comes with two, but they are yummy. It reminded me of Indian samosas. The shumai was good. We love edamame and this one was typical. My least favorite was the cucumber crab salad. It just felt like it was missing something. For our main meal, we ordered pad Thai, Tom kha soup with shrimp. sushi and sashimi and pangang curry with rice. The food was delicious. We were able to sit outside and enjoy some beautiful weather. The service was good. They came out pretty often to check on us. We really enjoyed the lemonade and tea. This place was really good and the pricing was fair. We left with full bellies! read more

We came in early on a Thursday evening. We were sat right away, but then we're forgotten about :( I needed to flag down a server. Our server ended up being very pleasant and helpful. But we still didn't get the best service and had to ask for things like chop sticks, water, and the check. We ended up ordering the Thai egg rolls, tuna tataki, and the sushi pyramid. All were pretty good! We also wanted to try the chocolate sake that our server highly recommended, but it was out of stock. All in all - it was a good dinner. read more

Another recommended spot to try if you're in the area. I was fresh off a 4 mile hike and needed something good and fast. My wait was very minimal as one of the staff quickly cleaned an outside table. The inside is nice, open, and clean but since I was sweaty, I opted for patio seating. I ordered the Thai tea (I couldn't locate on menu but if you're a fan, ask for it. It's my new fave) and massaman curry with chicken. I enjoy the flavors of Thai food. In this dish, you can taste the coconut milk, the curry, and the avocado rounded out the silky smooth flavor of this dish. I also like how they provided on the menu how some dishes are gluten free or can be modified gluten free. This dish was already prepared gluten free. I did not locate any gluten free options for sushi so adjust or go without. Overall not a bad place. Parking is in a parking plaza, they weekend is crowded, adjust accordingly and happy eating. read more

We celebrated my wifes birthday yesterday at Spice 55. Thankyou to Vince, Jenna and everyone else for making her day so special. The sushi and Thai food was fabulous. We saw the Sushi Pyramid appetizer on their FB page and we just had to try it. My favorite thai dish was not on the menu - when I asked Vince about it he said it would be no problem to make it - Pad Prik King was one of his favorite. Came here for the first time and it was just remodeled. The outside sitting area is huge and covered. The inside decorations from the walls,lighting, and flooring were all very lovely. The ambiance made you feel important and up scale. The food was also amazing I got the sushi. Overall 4.5/5 the only thing that caught me was the flavor of the volcano roll seemed somewhat dry. The curry was my co workers and it was a flavor mountain. So tasty and creamy. We were just at the restaurant this afternoon enjoying a sushi roll and lychee martini on their deck. Had our pups with so we enjoyed the deck. Service was outstanding. Hands down one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had and the best Lychee martini I've had since the Mandarin in Miami years ago!! Love this place! I went twice while visiting Helen, GA. First time Amanda was my waitress and she explained how to veganize the menu and was very helpful. I got the fresh basil rolls, fried tofu, and Pad Pak with tofu the first time. The second time Macy was my waitress and she was so sweet, she really made my day! I got the fried tofu again and the Pad Thai with tofu and no eggs. It was amazing!! Everyone was very kind and helpful there, they made me feel like I've been going there for years!
