We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but unfortunately our experience at the front door changed our minds completely. After waiting about 7 minutes without any signage indicating whether to wait or seat ourselves, we weren't sure how the process worked. When the hostess (male) finally approached the front, my husband politely asked if we should seat ourselves. The response was abrupt and unprofessional--he snapped back with a drawn-out "Noooo, you can't," in a very condescending tone. He then immediately turned away and addressed other guests without acknowledging us further. The interaction felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Quick and good service! Great waiters and waitresses. Philly and Boston roll get it all the way done for me.

Had lunch here and the sushi lunch combo was a great deal. Fresh salmon, tuna, and a couple of rolls. Everything was well made and came out quickly. The salad and miso soup that came with it were also pretty good. It's a simple setup but very clean. The sushi chef even greeted us on the way out. Would definitely stop by again. read more

Got salmon hibachi with the lo mein instead of fried rice, upcharge $4 which would have been fine, except the lo mein was inedible- looked and tasted like a child had over boiled angel hair pasta till it was a slimy mess. Also, carrots in my hibachi were cold, still frozen. I told the person checking me out and he said no, not frozen and I was like- they were very cold, thinking we had a language barrier. Nope. He just wanted me to know they were "not frozen". I'm like okay. Then I explained the lo mein that I couldn't eat- he goes, oh it's very good, just a little sauce and few vegetable. I was like, mine had no vegetables. He goes- oh, I give you a 20% discount then he still up charged me for the slimy glob of lo mein that I didn't touch other than a small taste. I'm like okay, paid the bill and won't ever go back. Service was poor, the waiter was about 16 so I had some compassion. But ambience of the place was just dark dingy place and food was 2/5 at best. And that is only if you like cold carrots. Updates. Came back to work after eating there, left this review, THEN read the review below about bugs on the walls- explains the dim lighting. Then puked it all up. So now I paid for all the food and left 40% on my plate at the restaurant and the other 60% now in the toilet. Seems like a refund is in order. Decreased from 2 stars to 1 star. This is not a true Japanese hibachi grill for starters. We realized this when we walked in but decided to try it anyway because we were hungry. I had the steak hibachi. The rice was flavorless and the steak was tough. No one even asked us how we wanted our steak cooked... that should've been a sign! Okay, I'm not going to lie and say this is the best Japanese food I've ever had, or that this would be 4 stars in LA or NY, but was about 10x better than I expected for central Oklahoma. In town for work, and decided to stop. Was promptly seated and had an attentive server take my order. Room was a bit dim, but cozy and quiet, which is just my speed. Food arrived promptly, and... was pretty good. Got edamame and a Kirin to start, and the teriyaki chicken and the "Ponca City Roll" for my meal. I'd like to give themm a four and a half. I did get it to go and I've been searching for some good places in ponca City to eat while traveling there and boy is this one of them. As you can see from the pictures the presentation was outstanding and it's a lot of food for the value. The portions of sashimi are very large and the Miso soup is really good I can't say that I'm an expert on tempura but it was very tasty. The ok California roll is fine but I was really after the sashimi. We ordered 3 dinners of steak and lobster. the rice was hard, The food was cold, I had to chase down the so called waitress to get it heate up. She was a real piece of work. Never once did she even smile. When I needed a refill of tea I had to chase her down and she was none to happy about it either. Sushi rolls here are really good. The chicken pad Thai was just so so but I did end up eating it all. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is for the service. Amazing from the moment you walk through the door. Sushi in Oklahoma might not initially sound like a great idea but I can assure you this place is worth trying. We were greeted pleasantly and were helped right away. I had the strangest request that was fulfilled and that was to eat from their sushi boat. I ordered the hibachi steak and chicken, the chicken was ok but my steak was close to well done even though I ordered medium rare. The food was pretty bland in general. The soup was good, but I'm 99% I found a gnat in it so I bailed at the end. Prices seemed a little high. The sushi did look good and fresh.
