Order a steak, baked potato and the salad bar. You will enjoy it. That big fatty ribeye just doesn't make good sandwich. Check the picture. A good piece of meat wasted on a boring bland disappointing sandwich. I wish I had ordered it as a steak with a bake potato on the side. The self-serve salad bar here has always been outstanding. Make sure you try it. My wife's turkey sandwich was loaded with meat, but it too wasn't anything to brag about. I have eaten many meals at this unique back-alley restaurant. Some damn good meals. So I wasn't going to leave a bad review for a place I love so much, but having my leftovers tonight, I just can't believe they would serve a steak like this. I made the grave mistake of ordering the senior ribeye. I mistakenly thought it would be like a regular ribeye cut in half. No it wasn't. I have no idea what this meat was, but it looked like skirt steak. It was 1/6 inch thick. I measured it! I ordered it medium rare which is laughable, because you literally couldn't cook it to anything besides well done because it would take probably 20 seconds to cook. I received this steak after waiting about 50 minutes for our food. My boyfriend on the other hand, ordered a prime rib medium, and his came out not even rare. He couldn't eat it. They did comp the prime rib but we paid for mine. To make all this worse, it was SO HOT upstairs I couldn't stand it. Granted it was very warm that day, but if you get overheated quickly, do not eat upstairs in the summer.I'm afraid this will be the last time we go to my beloved Rusty Barrel. We have celebrated so many occasions there including me and my love's very first date together. I am heartbroken. read more

You get what you pay for! If you are looking for a light or cheap meal, go elsewhere. But if you are looking for an amazing steak dinner with all of the fixings and a nice atmosphere - this is your spot. While it might be a little tricky to find due to the speakeasy vibes, if you park in the lot on the very side of the plaza you'll see it. Plenty of parking too in the lot. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Jessica who so graciously welcomed me despite my showing up close to closing time. I got to sit upstairs on a quiet night and have most of the place to myself, including the AMAZING salad bar that had more premium ingredients than I ever expected. I ordered the 10oz prime rib which was definitely larger than I expected as well. So tender, juicy and cooked to perfection. I have seen other reviews complaining about the price, but for $43 (which includes that massive salad bar and a fantastic baked potato) you get every bit of your money's worth. I ate leftovers throughout the next day. This was a wonderful experience for me as an out of towner - I really think everyone here takes pride in what they do and what they serve. I was looking for a big, fat delicious steak in Oklahoma and I was overly impressed with Rusty Barrell. Jessica really made my experience top notch - big thanks to her and the kind staff who stayed behind to keep this place open even later than what the website tells you. Awesome hidden steak house in Ponca City! Celebrating our 27th anniversary and wanted a cozy steak house to eat at. Well Hubby found it! Shared a medium ribeye and a baked potato. And ordered mushrooms. Enough food for two! Everything single thing we ate was DELICIOUS. Steak was cook perfectly, we had it medium. The baked potato was medium size and definitely enough to share. My dear husband and I drove from Wichita down to our neighbors to the south for dinner tonight. He had been recovering from major back surgery and we haven't been out in over a year! We have visited this quaint little out of the way gem several times before in past years. They didn't disappoint....the meal was phenomenal....as we had fondly remembered. I HAVE to mention, as we were leaving, because we were on the upper floor, a wonderful young man who I assume is a bus boy, kindly offered to walk ahead of my husband and let him put his hand on his shoulders to help guide and protect him from falling. Went to the Rusty Barrell for dinner with customers and have to say everyone agreed the steaks were some of the best steaks we had ever had. Perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. They were served with a well cooked baked potato and the service was great. Where I score it down though is for the salad bar. It just didn't look appetizing. The display was fairly old and dilapidated to start with but the salad items just didn't look that fresh. On top of that we are still going through Covid so I was surprised to even see a serve yourself salad bar up and running. No one in our group was brave enough to try a salad! But if you want a damn good steak this is the place to go! read more

We did this twice 1st time they were not busy and found us a table. 2nd time they said we don't listen to our messages and we don't have a reservation for you. So I recommend if you want to eat at the rusty barrel do not leave a message they dont listen to them, make sure you speak to a human, or you will not eat there, they will send you home very disappointed. read more

This is definitely a steakhouse if you don't want beef don't go here. From the outside you have no idea what to expect from the inside. Inside quite a small setting two levels and they cook the steaks essentially in the center of the first floor dining area, and a rather open area. In our party there were two New York strips ordered a ribeye a filet and I had the prime rib, all of the entrees were $30 and above however that did come with a trip to the salad bar and a baked potato. If you wanted a green vegetable on the side there's an additional $10. Everyone enjoyed their meal I have to say my prime rib was probably the best prepared of all of the meat that was at our table.
