This was our first time here, and we were happy to find a place that was open past 8 p.m. We were able to make reservations without any issues. The menu offered a wide variety of items, and the food was served fairly quickly. Overall, the food was great. The only downside was that while customers were still eating, the staff began cleaning with strong-smelling chemicals. I'm highly sensitive to smells, and the scent (which seemed like Fabuloso) made it difficult for me to enjoy my meal. The staff was also mopping the floor around our area without any signage indicating the floor was wet, which raised a safety concern. If that had not happened, it would have been a great experience overall.
This was my second time dining at Sakura, but this time was extra special--we brought a party of 23 to celebrate my mom's birthday, and WOW, everything exceeded our expectations! I made the reservation just two days in advance, and they still managed to accommodate us with ease. When we arrived, we were seated right away in the back area, which turned out to be the perfect spot, semi-private and spacious enough for everyone to mingle comfortably. Our server, Michael, was phenomenal. He took care of our large group flawlessly and even remembered every order without writing anything down (seriously impressive!). We started with appetizers for the table, and then everyone ordered their own entrées. The show-stopper was definitely the boat platter a few people shared--it was gorgeous and such a hit with the group. I went with the sushi dinner plate myself, and the fish was incredibly fresh and flavorful. From start to finish, the service, atmosphere, and food were spot on. If you're looking for a fun place to celebrate or even just a cozy dinner date, I can't recommend Sakura enough! Side note: if celebrating a birthday, you're able to bring in your own dessert for celebrating!
Ate here for my birthday and I wanted to get the Hawaiian boat. There was alot of food on it. It came with 2 sushi rolls (ahi and cream cheese and shrimp tempura with imitation crab). I really liked the shrimp tempura roll but could've done without the cream cheese in the other roll. It also came with katsu, rib eye steak, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and soft shell crab. I do wish that instead of the tempura soft shell crab it came with and with ahi poke instead. It also came with miso soup but you do need to ask for rice bowls on the side. But other than that it was a Pretty filling meal for my family (5 plus a baby). The ambience was nice my kids want to try the hibachi grill next time. I think we were enjoying the entertainment from the other family at the hibachi. Our server was very kind and kept checking on us. We will be back to try the hibachi grill next!
Our first time eating dinner here on a Saturday night, and we saw a cardboard box flattened as the welcome mat (maybe due to the rain). Inside we noticed the floor was very slippery. We had a reservation, and we were seated immediately. We did not sit in the hibachi area but could tell many customers were enjoying the entertainment. The atmosphere was similar to a bar or nightclub. The pop music was pretty loud. The people were loud. Our server seemed a little rude but it may have been due to a language issue. We asked about a sauce, what was garlic rayu in a dish, and he said it was the name of the sauce. Our food was quickly prepared and was pretty good. I did not care for the salad dressing. The shrimp tempura seemed a little heavy on the batter, but I enjoyed the food. By the time we were ready to leave, there were people waiting to be seated.
Came in for lunch with my family and we were seated right away. For being packed with patrons , the nose level was low. The restaurant has hibachi grills and booths for seating. When seated, our waiter came and ask what we would like to drink and drinks were served. We got the miso soup, delicious. About 10 minutes, our food started getting served. The food is amazing, we will be coming back.
My second time dining here with family. The sweet heart roll was so delicious. My Combo C, Salmon Teriyaki and Tonkatsu combo, was delicious and generous. My family enjoyed the Combo A with vegetable tempura and tonkatsu. Service was great, not too crowded. Pleasant atmosphere. We topped our evening off with dessert, with me enjoying my green tea ice cream and my sister in law sharing the fried ice cream with her family. Great place for family to dine and have a great time. We'll be back again.
We decided to come here for date night. Low lighting. You can select either: a table - where you order as normal OR the hibachi - where you order and they will cook it in front of you. Our server was a nice guy. Needed to speak up a little though with all the noise with the bar being so close, too. Sushi has a great ratio of meat to rice. I'd estimate 80% toppings and 20% rice!
We stopped here on our way to a hotel from the airport. Fortunately they were open until 10:00. The restaurant was very clean. They have nice booths or hibachi tables. I think they also have a sushi bar. Cheng was a wonderful server. Their portions were large and the food was good. I especially love their ginger salad dressing and the tempura vegetables. My steak teriyaki was prepared how I ordered. My husband got chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura. We upgraded to the fried rice but it had too much garlic and not much flavor. Good value and experience.
Walk-ins welcomed. Have always been seated quickly. I have only dined in for dinner so far. And have only tried sushi. Went for a Christmas lunch with a family member. It was early and we got a nice booth. Was surprised already had people there as it had just opened. Our waiter was nice and friendly. I had been to Sakura through the years and it has changed but I still enjoy it! I grew up eating tempura and I was quite happy that my shrimp tempura was delicious! It was hot and crispy and although no one can beat my mother's tempura, it was a good lunch! I had the tempura with teriyaki beef and my family member had the teriyaki beef and chicken. The meals came with miso soup, a small salad, rice and dumplings. They were a little heavy handed on the salad dressing but it's okay! I'm happy with Sakura! It's a nice neighborhood family place.
Delcious food. We ordered the Ahi and Avocado roll sushi for ap. I had the Hibachi Chicken with Miso soup and tossed salad The portion was extremely large, enough for 2 people. Make reservations as this place does get crowded fast. Excellent waiter and very attentive staff. What are you waiting for? Make reservations and go!
At least my 4th time here and I'm updating my review again. Food is pretty good as usual. The Godzilla Roll is the bomb! Service is fast. Food combinations on menu still takes a while to figure out and the parking is plentiful & free. The notable difference on this dining experience was that our server was friendlier than usual. Although there was a slight language barrier (Chinese accent), our server was thorough in answering our questions about the food and had a nice chit chat with my adult niece about their favorite dessert places. We had an enjoyable experience so I'm going to add a star.

This place is amazing!!! The service is always so good and I always get so much food and drinks when I get here. For appetizers I get the half avocado which is deep fried with spicy tuna and cream cheese. Awesome! Then I get the yellow tail jalapeño appetizer. The sushi is amazing. I love the perfect snow sake. Every new restaurant has a few kinks to work out before things run smoothly. Hence, I decided to wait a bit before I dined here. After reading the mixed reviews, I didn't know what to expect. So I came with an open mind and growling tummy when I headed in. Located in the Mililani Marketplace in the location of the old Makino Chaya/Sizzlers is Mililani's newest Japanese restaurant. Parking is plentiful and the restaurant itself is nicely decorated, large and clean. We were quickly seated and given the option to sit in the hibachi area or at a regular table. No hibachi for us tonight, so we chose to sit at a regular table. The first thing I noticed is that there are red buttons on the table. I pointed this out to my mister as we were wondering why no one was stopping when we were ready to order. Press the button and a server quickly comes to your table. The menu.. there are many options to chose from! I didn't know where to start as everything sounded so delicious! Tip: you can't order the hibachi items if you're not seated in the hibachi area. But, you can order the sides listed under the kitchen section of the menu and they will gladly cook it up for you. I was impressed with their vast sushi menu. For the record, I'm always skeptical when ordering sushi if I'm not at one of my usual sushi spots. All of my worries were put to rest after the first bite of their delicious sushi! Godzilla roll- spicy crunchy salmon/shrimp tempura roll/avocado/spicy ahi/topped with spicy crab stick & spicy mayo: This was very tasty and the presentation was great! We really enjoyed this roll Mob lobster roll- lobster tempura/cucumber/avocado/topped with tuna, salmon,yellowtail, mango, tobiko and scallions Another beautifully presented and delicious sushi dish! I think this might be my favorite! Side order of scallops: flavorful and tasty! I just wished there was more to enjoy. I would have ordered two orders of this Teriyaki beef -served on a sizzling plate with onions. Well we didn't eat at Hy's so for a sushi restaurant I'd say it was decent. The onions were a tad undercooked and the steak didn't have much teriyaki flavor. I'm sure it woulda been better had we ordered this at the hibachi area. They also have a bar and decent sake menu. If you're not in the mood for sake , they have beers as well. I was happy that they have Asahi here ! Enjoyable evening and I'm glad we stopped in for dinner! My lunch bunch crew been meaning to go there for lunch. We finally made it there today to celebrate a couple birthdays (free teeny scoop of a goodie goodie like ice cream for the birthday person!). The place is clean and spacious. There is a hibachi side, a bar, a sushi bar and the restaurant. There were waitresses standing to welcome you in. They were very friendly. You can ask them to store your cake in the fridge. The food! Yummmmmmmz! 4 if us had the 2 choice lunch box...everything was fresh! The other had the Yakisoba with chicken. The tempura was so crispy, I like it like that! The flavor was delish. We didn't try any sushi but saw plates if them going to the hibachi side (there were 2 parties on the hibachi side) The wait help came to sing happy birthday...one with a cute little drum and one with a tambourine! Not in sync but too cute! I will be going back...for sure read more

The food is great as well as the service! We came to eat dinner here for my bday and we order the Hawaii boat. It was so good! Everything was fresh and the service was fast. We also tried the stuffed avocado appetizer and I highly recommend it. Just hit different taste buds. Our server was super attentive and made sure our drinks were always refilled and brought extra napkins without us having to even ask. We will be back! read more
This is a pretty new Japanese spot in mililani. We decided to try it out after checking out the menu. The space was good sized and everything seemed clean and organized. The oysters would've been better if they weren't really small for the price paid. It would've been much better had they been a heftier size. We did order one of their boats and couldn't help to compare with the competitor. It was okay. Next time I intend to sit in the bbq area where they cook my food for me. I'd go here again maybe to check out the bar area in the future. read more

Of course we've waited for this place to open up since seeing it so expectations were high. We came on a Thursday night at 6:45pm and upon entering was asked if we had reservations. We did not but was seated fairly quickly as it wasn't that busy. Sat down and went over the menu. My keen eye quickly distinguished a "hibachi" section of the menu. I came to the conclusion that the "hibachi" section was for the hibachi side of the restaurant and we probably won't be able to order from it. I mentioned this to my wife and sadly our menu options shrank... We weren't told this before being asked where we would like to be seated. Of course had we known this we would have gladly waited for the hibachi side of the restaurant. Service wasn't as quick as one would hope but was just okay. Food, We had the teriyaki Chicken bento, udon, tempura set and gyoza. Wasn't spectacular or amazing it was just ok also. We also had the fried banana and fried ice cream for dessert. The fired banana was horrible. Bananas were hard and not ripe. The fired ice cream was alright. Overall the only reason we would return is to try out the hibachi side of the restaurant. If this restaurant really wants to last and not be another one on the list to pack up and move on it really needs to step up its game. read more
Sakura was amazing, it's so good seeing something this different in Mililani again and I hope they are around for a long time. My friend and I wandered into this place out of curiosity when I noticed it was finally open. The restaurant itself is nice, they have dim lighting but I think they turn the lights up a bit as more people come in because it was brighter when we were leaving than when we came in. My friend and I ordered on the Hibachi menu which opened the door to the main attraction for us. We were seated at the hibachi grill with another family. Our chef was amazing and highly charismatic, he preformed awesomely and quickly. He engaged everyone at our table, pitching cucumbers to catch and spraying sake for the adults and lemonade for the children. Not only was the "show" amazing but the food was perfect as well. Most of out table had steak and shrimp, both were cooked flawlessly. The only bad thing is that you're sitting too close to get good iPhone shots of the action. I'll be bringing my YouTube camera next visit if they allow me to. The customer service was great, everyone was friendly and we will definitely be back soon. I am happy to give this location 5 stars and urge everyone to come and try them out. read more
This was my second time here and it was sooo much better this time than the last. Our server was very attentive and made really great suggestions. We basically tried everything he told us to try lol. I think his name was Breydan? Anyway, kudos to Breydan on being an excellent server! Everything we ate was delicious and it tasted even better during happy hour being that the chefs special rolls are buy one get one 1/2 off :D It was also fun watching the Teppanyaki side for a birthday party, they were so entertaining and everyone seemed to be having so much fun. My boyfriend and I are already planning to have our bdays there. I would recommend making a reservation for that side if you have a larger party. The regular restaurant area wasn't too busy we got sat right away. Make sure to order some chefs special rolls & have some really strong yummy drinks when you're there! read more

We tried Sakura for the first time. This rating is for the food. We did a take out order and I must say, the food was disapointing. The Christmas Tree Sushi, the Fried Oyster, the Fried Octopus are items I would never recommend anyone ordering. The Age Tofu wasn't bad and the Ume Shiso rolls were good, I love that they used the shiso leaf. We also ordered the Yakisoba and TonkatsuDon, they weren't anything special. In all honesty NIJIYA has better tasting options for a better price. I don't see us returning to this restaurant. On a positive note, the restaurant was very nice inside and very clean. When I called to place the order the person on the line was very nice and very polite, we had some questions when it came to ordering and she took the time to find out the answer. If the food was better, I would definitely love to come back again. read more

I really like the fact that this restaurant is only a 5 minutes walk from home. I go to the bar often and I am always greeted by the nice and friendly staff there. I normally order a few margaritas which are very yummy and a few appetizers which are delicious too. So if you need to relax and enjoy a quick drink and taste some good food this is the place to go. read more

Aloha Kakou, this is my First Time eating here, we were celebrating the bf moms BD, the atmosphere is great, not too dark , not too bright... but just right, we made an reservation for 4, quickly got to our seat, ordered $96.00 worth of food and drinks, everything was great, service, appearance of the dishes, the waiters was always on it when refilling our water cups, all in all FIVE STARSyou won't regret it, just double check your bill, just in case they over charge you... also.. the Dressing.. not my favorite;( read more

I usually don't write reviews unless a place is awesome or really bad. In this case, it was the latter. I got excited when I found out that there was a new Japanese restaurant in town. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the hostess that asked us if we had reservations. We didn't so we were informed of a 45 minute wait. We told her okay and she confirmed with us again that there's 5 people before us as if she didn't want us to eat there. We should have caught the hint and walked out at that point. We asked to sit at the bar to wait and 10 minutes later someone asks if we want anything. Only one of us ordered a drink before the hostess walked away to help someone else. We got seated a little while after that. After deciding what we wanted to eat, we had to flag down a server as no one stopped to take our order. As we were ordering, we were informed that what we wanted was only served on the other side of the restaurant. Nothing in the menu stated this nor were we given a choice on which side to sit on. The server attempted to bring a different beer than what we ordered. She quickly corrected it after we informed her that we didn't order that beer. We ended up ordering a sushi roll that took forever to come out and when it did, the sushi was room temperature. Our other appetizer was served with stale and hard tempura flakes. Shortly after, the server returns to inform us that they ran out of teri beef. Who runs out of this stuff at 7 pm on a weekend? The rest of our food came out. I ordered the tonkatsu and my fiancé go the tempura, sushi, and sashimi bento set. The tonkatsu was plated on a piece of paper and was very bland in color as if it wasn't cooked long enough. There was shredded carrots and a piece of parsley/fake green decoration that you wouldn't eat. This green parsley was wilted. Overall, the tonkatsu tasted pretty good once I got over the poor presentation of the food. The bento box was much more ascetically pleasing. The sushi and sashimi was fresh and of good quality. The tempura didn't have any taste. The salad dressing and tempura sauce shared the same split dipping dish. We found that weird as it was difficult to pour the salad dressing onto the salad without spilling the tempura sauce along with it. Overall, the service was a 1 star and the food was 3 stars. The restaurant has potential once they retrain their hostess, improve their customer service, and improve the overall appearance of the food. The food quality was decent enough. If you're wanting to try out this place, my recommendation would be to wait for them to iron out the kinks in their service. read more

Came here for lunch. Ordered Nabeyaki Udon. Very disappointing, tastes and looked nothing like nabeyaki should. Chicken was cooked pan fried or on a flattop and my egg was fried also. Tasted more like a weird chicken soup with udon noodles. Bento box lunches are mediocre in taste also. Prices definitely do not reflect the quality you would expect to find. Happy we have a new Japanese Resturant in Mililani. Sakura is located in the old Sizzler's building by Safeway. They have teppanyaki grills and a sushi bar. They also serve standard Japanese Resturant favorites. The food was good, the prices are reasonable and the service was good. Check out this new place and let's hope they stay around! read more

Second time here as it's within a five minute walking distance from my house! First time? I would definitely rate it at 2 Stars because it was a phone order made 30 mins ahead. When entering the restaurant, it was not busy at all. But food was good. Second time? Busy, was seated quickly, water took a little while but food was quick. Sushi utilized fresh fish and presentation as great! Would definitely come back again. read more

Party atmosphere is good with the separate area for 40 people. The teppanyaki cooking people are very loud much more so than our party. With so many people it took close to an hour to serve everyone. They need to hire more experienced servers. The food was good for the price and it looked very nice. Since they just opened recently they may get better at serving large parties than they did tonight. The tempura udon was tasty and I added on a side order of vegetable tempura that turned out to be a lot to eat. The teriyaki salmon came on a sizzling platter...very good. As a whole the amount of food was generous portions. We'll have to come back again. read more

Classy Japanese Restaurant. Very nice decor, this is one of the few places in Mililani to which I would invite friends from out of town. The service is very polite, our waitress was very nice and pleasant to talk to. We met the manager as well, very nice guy. Food was tasty and very pretty to look at when it first arrived. This is a pricier restaurant, and I recommend to check it out if you can afford $20 per plate. read more

My husband and I just moved to mililani, and we love Japanese food so we decided to check out Sakura. If you want the grill, there is a longer wait. We were starving so we just took a sushi/kitchen table. Food was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable! We started with a sweetheart roll which was ono! I had special dinner combo A. It came with miso soup, salad, rice, gyoza, and shrimp tempura and teri tofu (2 choices). My husband had a donburi, which was huge and only $13. Staff are friendly and service is good. There are a lot of options so we will be back to try them all! read more

Hubby and I decided to venture out and have lunch at a restaurant during this Pandemic. We just had finished doing our errands and instead of heading to a fast food joint qw decided to treat ourselves with a much needed lunch date. We've eaten here before and I remember that they had a sushi bar where the hand rolls and are made fresh. When you arrive you must wear a mask until you get your drinks or food, there is a sanitizer station at the entrance for your convenience. They also take your temperature and one of you needs to fill out a form with your full legal name, an address and phone number. You also have a choice to sit at one of their hibachis or at a regular table. We chose to sit at the regular ones because it was too early in the day for us to enjoy a show by one of their Teppanyaki chefs. The restaurant wasn't busy when we got there at around 1130, but when we started to leave at around 1245 there was a little line to come in. We each ordered a Bento B which comes with 2 choices of protein, tossed greens, rice, edamame, and miso soup. We also decided to have a couple of cocktails and apps while we waited. We had the Agedashi tofu which was bomb, maguro sashimi although a bit pricey was very fresh and just melted in your mouth and just how I like it on top a generous amount of shredded daikon, and a side of shoyu ahi poke. We washed our meals down with a Long Island Iced Tea for the Hubby and a Tokyo Tea for me which were perfectly made. We were just too full to enjoy any of their delicious desserts. Our $85.00 tab was very well prepared and so worth the price. Also their staff was all well trained, efficient and friendly. Definitely beats the drive downtown. read more

Came here for the first time last week. We arrived for dinner and got seated right away. We ordered the tuna takaki and shumai to start. Then we decided on the mililani boat to share. The mililani boat came with 15 pieces nigiri, 15 pieces sashimi, 1 dragon roll and 1 rainbow roll also came with 3 individual bowls of miso soup. My husband was still hungry after all that food and ordered the mob roll, I tried 1 piece and it was really good. Service was great as well. We'll definitely be back again! read more
