Sometimes you just crave sushi delivered to you on a racecar to hit that Japan itch. There usually is a bit of a wait, so be sure to get on the waitlist early but on the upside you can do a bit of shopping while you wait and get a text when your table is ready. Some of my favs at Genki are the spicy ahi, seared spicy ahi, hamachi, and salmon. My favorite roll is the spicy ahi ebi roll or the rainbow roll for some freshness. There's even a nobu classic, spicy ahi on crispy rice. I think this is a great spot for families and groups because you can order on your phone and seperate the checks easily. Plus there are tons of non-fish and cooked dishes for those who don't love raw fish. read more

My gf seems to like this place and she suggested it while we were at Pearl Ridge with the grandkids. You have to scan a QR code outside the restaurant to make a reservation. Okay, I can live with that. It wasn't too crowded this time so it was just a short wait but my gf and the kids all split and went to the restroom and I kept seeing notifications that all parties must be present to be seated. I started to stress that we would lose our place but I guess there's a few minutes leeway and they came back from the restroom right when I got the table ready notification. Anyway, who designed their damn seats? They should be forced to sit in them for a few hours and see how the back of their thighs feel with that big lip on the front edge of the seat, unless you have natural extra padding on your backside which I do not, these seats are very uncomfortable! This had to be the worst part of the visit. Probably on purpose so customers don't stay too long. Well, we sit down and there's only one menu to look at and the three girls are sitting across from us are looking at it and taking forever to decide what they want. In the meantime, I have to use my phone to scan another QR code to connect to the website where you order your food. I give my phone to my gf since she's sitting closer to the scan code and she has trouble getting into the site. I take my phone back and have to stretch across her and I get the ordering form up & give my phone back to her as she's asking the kids what they want. Then she starts asking me what I want before I even have a chance to look at the menu the kids are hogging. Screw it, I can see the pictures upside down and I'm not that hungry to begin with so I say I want natto and get the usual eww, gross from my gf. I'll have an unagi too. More eww! Yeah, I'm enjoying this outing so much! They should put at least two menus at eat table. The kids are still picking what they want so she places an initial order. Gotta admit the food comes fast on their little train delivery system. Some portions are very small, the maguro and other sushi have shrunk over the years as is the case with many dishes in most restaurants anymore. Some are a decent size such as the tempura and edamame. The food appears well prepared and tastes fine. Service was okay, but it is a self serve kind of place for the most part anyway. The wait help did make sure our drinks were good and they were quick to bring the tab when we were done. Fast food sushi so there was no dilly dallying there. All in all, I was not thrilled and would not pick Genki as my first choice of eating places in Pearl Ridge, not because of the food itself but just because of the hassle and uncomfortable seats. read more

Well for starters, the manager(s) should put signs up to let customers know where to check in for dining in. It was my husband's, our two young kids, and I first time coming to this location. So we've entered thru the inside mall entrance and we saw the counter to the right. We thought that was the check in station. Then the stupid wise a$$ young girl said in these words "you have to go to that station (pointing behind a wall) to check in for dining in. This is ONLY for takeout". This was really rude and I didn't appreciate how this bit** treated us. Also, maybe the manager(s) should train their employees in providing better customer service. Ordered take out from the Pearlridge Genki Sushi because the wait is always long so it was more convenient to just order and pick up. First off, I had the most difficult time online ordering. And when I was finally able to do so and I went to check out, it said that online ordering was closed. That wasted about 15 minutes of trying to order. So then I ended up calling the store to order and the guy who answered the phone was so nice! He was very nice and helpful and I was able to order at ease. Way better than online. When I got to the restaurant to pick up our order, it was perfect timing because they were packing up our order. I wanted to add onto my order and get the two different sea snail nigiri but they were out of both. I was so sad but that probably was a sign that I didn't need it. Lol the inside of the restaurant was really crowded and there were a lot of people waiting to be seated. So I'm glad we ordered over the phone so we didn't have to wait to dine in. Food at Genkis is always good if you prefer Japanese sushi items. I've never had bad food there or service until recently. When you have over 6 people on a table eating its really courtesy that the dishes should be removed to give space to continue eating. We were told by server they 'cant' do it until we were done. I seriously wanted to push the stacked dishes off the table to make room but thought otherwise. Im wondering if I should have given that server a reason to clean the floors. read more

I haven't been to Genki since they had the rotating sushi bar. This new system is so efficient and fun! The waitlist is even automated so you just sign in via qr code. It makes sense that they only seat full parties but once we were all here, they sat us right away. There was a place to indicate that we needed a high chair on the wait list checkin and if we needed separate checks. The wait staff were very pleasant and the service was fast. You order everything from a qr code at the table and it's delivered either via the sushi train directly to your table or by a server. My 13month old loved the keiki set! It had inari, hot dog, arabiki, egg, and spam sushi along with a calpico yogurt drink for dessert! I loved the fried california roll. It comes on a bed of eel sauce/sweet chili sauce that's not spicy and compliments the roll perfectly. I LOVE fried sushi. Parking is free since it's at Pearlridge mall and if you park by Five Guys it's much less crowded than by the Genki side. Prices are a bit high but everything is more expensive now. I ordered takeout from Genki Sushi and got the chicken karaage bento. It came with rice, cucumber and takuan (yellow pickled radish) sushi, tofu, seaweed salad, and the chicken was served on a bed of iceberg lettuce. The portion was super generous -- definitely more than enough for one person! I did add a side of sushi, but honestly, I could've skipped it and still been full. The food was fresh, tasty, and nicely packed for takeout. The chicken karaage was crispy and flavorful, and I really appreciated the variety in the bento -- it felt like a well-balanced meal. The only downside was the wait time. It took about 15 to 20 minutes for my takeout order, which felt a bit long, especially for sushi and a bento box. So just a heads-up if you're trying to grab something quick. Overall, a solid takeout option with good food and great portions. I'll definitely be back -- just maybe not when I'm in a hurry. I'm pretty sure this genki had a big renovation recently, because it reminds me of the one at Ala Moana. They have the high tech trains to deliver the plates to each table. And now the menu is completely online. So genki is located in pearlridge uptown. It's a large space and it was randomly kind of crowded on a Monday afternoon. I walked in, but they have a QR code for a waitlist when it gets busy. Because I was eating by myself, I was seated at the counter. It wasn't a problem, but the plastic seats they use are really low. It was just awkward for my long legs I guess lol. You use another QR code to access the menu and order through the website. The food was delivered via train very quickly. The offerings here are pretty similar to any other genki in Hawai'i. It's not my favorite sushi place, but it may be the only sushi restaurant at pearlridge and it's kind of cheap. It can be cheap haha. The cheapest plates cost $1.95. This gets you like spam and hot dog sushi. I like the salmon nigiri here. They'll cost you $4, but the salmon pieces are pretty hefty and they have different flavors like torched garlic mayo and onion mayo. I've always liked genki spicy ahi. It's chopped kind of small and they use sweet chili sauce from the bottle, but whatever. It is what it is. The service was kind of non existent since everything is ordered and delivered human-less. But my water was refilled promptly and I was checked on. The cashier was nice and made small talk as I paid for my meal. read more

It's been quite a while since the last time I ate here! My friend wanted to eat at Genki so we did take out during lunch time on a weekend. I was expecting a longer wait time, but it took about 10 mins ish which I think is pretty good! Of course, the portions got smaller and the prices are higher, BUT the food still tasted the same. I ordered pretty basic things this time - spicy cali roll, inari, tamago and my friend shared her kabocha tempura with me. Everything was so so GOOD. Not a lot of sushi places have good tamago where the egg is sweet, but Genki has the sweet tamago which makes me super happy! My absolute favorite location! They are so quick and have such great customer service! I couldn't believe how quick we were seated especially it being on the weekend and it was pretty packed too. But they were seating people and cleaning the tables very quickly. I live in Kapolei so Waikele is the closest to me but every time I went there I was disappointed bc they take forever and there is always so many open tables. Genki sushi is and always will be Genki sushi. If you want sushi this is by far my choice. As always here's my honest opinion: (some of these items is out of Genkis hand. So listen to what you like and disregard any non-sense that you don't care about. 1. Parking - Monday - Thursday the parking is not too bad. The Genki sushi here is at a mall so lots of parking. On Friday and the weekends it's busy, like any other mall, but the mall is a good place to walk-around while you wait for your text (table is ready). - parking is not so great, but there's parking if you don't mind the walk. 2. I like the texting and signing in feature they have. Saves time and you know when your table is ready. It gets busy on the weekends so plan for a 45-1hr wait (especially between 11-5) - there's a QR code to help sign in. - knowing how long the wait is a feature I love. If the waits is too long I go somewhere else. 3. The selections in food is amazing! Lots to select from and it's always good and neatly presented. - they did away with some of my favorite items like the baby octopus, but the food is still good. - if you haven't been here in a while they added a few new items(definitely worth trying). 4. The prices vary depending on what you pick, so make sure you keep track of what you spend... you order with your phone and it keeps track of your bill. No surprises. 5. The food is always awesome. 6. The service and waitstaff are always friendly. It's not a traditional restaurant but we always tip the waiter/staff. They are kind and always helpful. You have to waive them down for a refill sometimes but they are always walking around checking in on you. 7. It's always fun time here. My kids love the way the food comes out on the little train/cart. It's a cool thing if you are into a fun dinning experience. Overall this place is awesome. It's a fun and unique experience. I love sushi so I'm bias for this place. I usually spend about $100-$120 for a family of 4. If you dine here, hope this post helps!!! read more

We haven't eaten at Genki Sushi since 2016 when they had the outbreak of Hepatitis. We really loved it before but stayed away for 9 years. Well we decided to check out the Pearlridge location for lunch on a Tuesday. We ordered a variety of sushi such as a spicy tuna bowl, natto roll, ika with rayu, onion salmon, spicy tuna, and fried squid. Everything tasted good and it came out really quick. We had to ask for new cups of tea because the first cups were room temperature. We like our hot tea to be steaming hot. The workers were nice and came to refill tea and water often. There are a lot of workers there. The place is very popular and it filled up pretty quickly. So, everything tasted good but about 15 minutes after I ate, I had to use the restroom. Something must've been bad because I had to go 3 times after having lunch there. Dunno if I will go back because I definitely ate something that did not agree with me. read more

Came here with the fam one night after bringing the kids to Keiki Kingdom. The kids love this place so we figure, we'd bring them here for dinner. I put our name in and because it's the holiday season, we waited probably half an hour for our table. After we got seated, we put in our orders. Not too long after, our orders started to arrive. HOWEVER, my Husband who ordered just ONE roll, didn't get his order til 20 minutes later. Mind you, another table that sat AFTER us was the delivered that same roll we ordered. The more my Husband is annoyed because how?! We asked a server about it who said he'd go check. Normally, when someone says they're gonna check on the food they go back to the patron to give them an update. But no not this guy! We seen him go to the kitchen, come back out and continues to serve tables. So, we try to flag down someone else which takes another five minutes. We ask for a supervisor this time around. He comes out apologizes and says it should be out soon and gives the excuse that the sushi person is one of the slower ones but I'm not buying it since that other table was delivered theirs in a timely manner. When we're finally ready to cash out, we bring the bill to the cashier who ended up being THREE supervisors. There was someone in front of me so I waited. When that person leaves, the THREE supervisors decides to chat among themselves and are more concerned about their gift cards and how it's distributed among the other locations. So I'm there just waiting for them to finish their conversation and it takes them awhile. Meanwhile, my Husband who is already annoyed is even more annoyed at this point. I just keep waiting, I know they seen me, didn't acknowledge me at all. SOOO.... I'm looking around and this one server who's observed that I've been there for while acknowledges me and is kind of confused as to why I wasn't cashed out yet and cashes me out herself. Really, really, I just wanted to leave a tip for her but it seems as if they do tip pull so I didn't leave anything at all and I wasn't about to just hand her a tip with the three supervisors next to her. I like that you scan the QR code to get a table, to me it's fast & simple. No need to worry if your name accidentally gets crossed out or anything. Plus you can see how many parties are before you & can go walking around until you get the text your table is ready. To order is by phone as well, scan QR code at the table & add what you want. The food comes quick depending what you order. I think if you order anything with soup, the servers bring it to you. The rest of the food comes straight from the kitchen on a train thingy, that our son loves to watch lol. We usually order the same things - spicy tuna bowl, teriyaki chicken bowl, miso soup, tamago udon, edamame, spicy ebi fry tempura roll... we've never had a problem with our food. The only downfall is that most items you cannot request no green onions. We don't really care for the green onions so we just take it off when we get the food. We went to Genki fornthe first time in over a decade. Quickly realized why we haven't missed it. The prices are hugh for such small portions. The karaage dunkan is extremely underwhelming. The salmon karaage is disappointing. The tan tan ramen is salty and does not have ahunt of being tan tan. The noodles are chewy, in a bad way. The other items we ordered are equally sub-par. We went here for lunch after visiting Cat Cafe, which is in the same mall. The kid was excited to try sushi! There was quite a wait but eventually we were seated. After seating, you scan a QR code and the menu pops up on your phone and you order from there. The selection is very large with a wide selection of bowls, sashimi, sushi, and even ramen. To be honest, the sushi was just average, but the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the restaurant is in Hawaii. My teriyaki chicken was tender but did not have much flavor. I thought the sushi rolls we got also lacked flavor. They were edible, but did not create any kind of lasting impression. But....the entire process is kid friendly. Your order is delivered on a train. The food comes to your "stop" (table number). You take the food off the train, push a button, and off it goes. The kids loved it (we were with friends who had kids too). The food was delivered promptly. One sushi roll took a long time but eventually arrived. But most of our food came very quickly. A real person came by for drinks and to see if we needed anything. The entire operation seemed to run smoothly. Ambience reminded me of Japan. I am giving it 4 stars because the restaurant is fun for kids and the food was good (but not great). No one is going to mix this place up with a gourmet sushi restaurant, but that is fine because what they sell is accessibility and fun. read more

This is the first time I tried Genki take out .. so I was quite happy with their service .. They sent an email with some Oct specials and decided to give it a try . Ordered it and it said would be ready for pickup in 20 minutes. When I arrived at the restaurant.. told the guy my name and told me order almost done .. so just waited a few more minutes. The app was pretty easy to navigate as I ordered the Wagyu beef/Fried squid Bento for $15.99 and the Garlic chicken for $9.99 . I must say at these prices .. it was pretty worth it!! The Wagyu beef was so soft and tender and tasty .. I wanted MORE!! But it is expensive hence why the small portion . The lightly fried squid was also very delicious! Garlic chicken bento came with two types sushi and tofu ! What a deal ! Not sure what the regular price is but wish this price will remain longer. Out of all genki sushi locations that I've been to - from HK to ewa beach, the pearlridge location is by far the fastest and most efficient in service that I've experienced. Kudos to the staff and how everything is transitioned to digital ordering, i must commend the manager(s) and supervisors who delegate this location. From yesterday and today (yes, i went here twice in a row hehe), the efficiency from being waitlisted to being seated was quite fast. The order is done through their QR code and the train belts are quick. I must also give credit to the staff in the kitchenwho create these beautiful pieces of sushi. The way of how they fry the selected fried food items aren't soggy. It's quite on the spot actually- crispy, not oily, not soggy but just right. The ambiance is just as casually loud as any other eatery. The place is in a way fast paced, especially when ordering your plates... i ordered my plates one at a time, gave each item some time to be made, and surprisingly 2-3 of my selected items came out quick' all in one belt! Came for lunch and it wasn't too busy, so we were seated right away which was nice. I usually go for the salmon karaage with a spicy ahi bowl, and I think the value you get from ordering that combo is next level. The food came out fast after ordering and the quality was good overall. The garlic salmon was thick and flavorful, and I personally liked it a little more than the garlic hamachi, though they tasted pretty similar. Another favorite of mine is the kabocha. They gave a lot of pieces and they were cooked perfectly. The only thing that fell a little short was the California roll, which wasn't rolled very well and didn't have much substance inside. The Hamachi Collar special is what gets them a 5* review today baby!!! It was awesome! It was fried on the outside to crispy and crunchy perfection (can eat the fins and all). Yet the meat inside was hot, and soft, and lucious. It came on top a bed of cabbage, side of lemons, and a sauce sorta like meat Jin. I squeezed my lemon into the sauce to give it a nice ZINNNGGGG!!! The rest of the sushi is your run of the mill fast food sushi, nothing fabulous, but a good quick sushi spot that' doesn't break the bank. The new location across the uptown food court on the first level is much better than the upstairs location. Much bigger, bright, vibrant and new.
