Re-fried vegetable croquette..super greasy.
Jasmin O.

Its been okay so far.. sushi taste mediocre okay except for my vegetable croquette was re-fried and not fresh it was oozing oil. The orders took awhile to come out today.. kind of slow for food service vs other genki sushi locations. It's Sunday not too busy 12-1pm. When we were seated..one of our cups of water had a piece of rice..or food on it. It was an instant turn off.

We had no idea that you order and your food comes out on a conveyor belt in a serving car. The grandkids thought that was fun. The adults liked how things arrived as they were made instead of waiting for everyone's order. The food was all good. Nothing super special but not anything I wouldn't have ordered again if I returned. We tried about 15 different menu items. The prices were reasonable. We got there at a good time as we only had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a table. When we were leaving the wait time had grown to 45 minutes. If you're in a group larger than 4-5 be prepared to be split up between two tables. That may have been the only down side to the experience. We were given our drink orders by a human but on the way out we saw a robot server delivering drinks. The kids liked that.

As much as I love genki sushi, this experience was not it. The things that were enjoyable was the spicy ahi udon, the spicy tuna sushi, and the fried squid combos. for what we didnt enjoy was the wagyu beef and the sukiyaki bowl. the wagyu was just drenched in unagi sauce and was very tough to chew. let alone, its one piece for $7.25.. and for the picture below, that is the sukiyaki beef bowl. not only was the cuts of meat all fat but there was a puddle of oil and shoyu at the bottom of the rice and it was salty as hell. and also it was 90% onions and 10% meat. and for the service portion towards the end, i probably pressed the pay button 8 times and waited 15 minutes for someone to finally help us pay the tab. as much as i love genki, this experience was least pleasant.

I'm actually shocked on the overall rating for this location!? My other and I dined in on 4th of July, anticipating that it would be crowed, I called and there was no wait time for a party of 2, we dined in around 3pm and shortly after being seated the place got a bit more packed, but didn't affect our service. We usually don't come to genki but since kurukuru closed down this is our next option. I notice the prices have went up but I'd hope the quality would be better too, we typically order a spread of items off the menu and they have specials. I ordered the Uni hand roll and the Uni bites, i've had better quality of Uni at other restaurants and outside of Hawaii, You can tell it was not fresh may have been frozen, but was not terrible. The place was actually very big. I've only been to this location a handful of times. The tables are good for a family of four or five and they also do have single seating. It was air-conditioned and the food came quite quick from the kitchen. We probably spent about $200 for our whole dining experience. I would give it four stars, because the kitchen did miss a few of our items that I didn't get until the end of our dining experience but we had a really great server, I believe the person's name was skai, super respectful, very apologetic and helpful I mean overall I'm big on customer service and that person did outstanding, even on a holiday that most staff hope to have off still was nice. PLEASE GIVE THAT PERSON A RAISE! I would definitely come back in hopes that I would be served by the same person. Quality of food is not terrible very fulfilling and rich and whoever had the playlist on the 4th of July around 3-4pm played very good music too. If you've had bad things to say about this place that's totally fine, You just leave more table room for the ones who actually enjoyed it here!

Ume maki & Yuzu aioli salmon

I came in for lunch on a Wednesday and had no problems being seated right away at the counter. Everything is ordered thru your phone by scanning the QR code. The server did ask me for my drink order right after seating me and my soda was brought over promptly. It wasn't busy and noticed all other parties coming after me being seated right away also. It is a family friendly restaurant with families seated in booths since it is summer. All my food came out the right temp and quickly. The karaage and string bean tempura was a little darker than usual but I didn't mind as it didn't taste burnt. I tried the new yuzu aioli salmon and it was eh, not worth the $5.85 price tag. If you are looking for a fast food sushi place then this is it. You can order ahead for pickup on the app.

Uni and shiso roll, Whelk , Red Sea Snail nigiri, Ikura Gunkan

Recently went for lunch , about 40% menu items were unavailable. I was very disappointed on the availability of items. Think they will loose many customers because of this. Items ordered was OK.

Its wrong!! I've never seen this happen before in ANY SUSHI RESTAURANT!
Rose H.

I've never been to a Genki that ran out of white rice. And then when asking a waiter--he could not explain it... Sorry I have a really hard time understanding how a sushi place can run out of white rice when 90% of their items have white rice in it.. Anyways, overall communicating anything to the waiter was very difficult. He couldn't understand us...and we definitely couldn't understand him. Also never ever, did I get 2 different nigiri's on one plate. They put seaweed salad and tomato on the same plate?!....Although they are not fish, how do they know if its for the same person because it WAS NOT! And you cannot expect 2 people to eat off the same plate?! Sorry but it was a junk experience really. To add to our, many other common items on the menu was "out of stock"...boo.

Chicken Karaage

Ordered chicken karaage, along with salmon karaage for takeout. We had an individual with a seafood allergy who ordered the chicken karaage. This is usually not a problem as they can eat products cooked in the same oil with no issue. As they ate, they noticed an orange hew and grey piece attached to the chicken. A piece of the salmon karaage connected to the chicken karaage. Fortunately this was recognized before any allergy occurred, but this speaks to the quality of the restaurant.

Good service. We came for dinner and had a slight wait to get in as it was a Friday. The food was good but not amazing. Slight delay on receiving the food but overall it was as you'd expect. Overall a good experience and will be back.

GARLIC CHICKEN KALBI BOWL

if i could i would give these cooks negative 5. i dont know who was back there today but they need to use better judgement when sending out half a** orders. my cali roll was alll rice with a hint of crab smfh. my deep fried squid was beyond deep fried like jerky. my assorted tempura veggies was soggy. my spider roll was soggy & had spicy mayo (wasnt specified) which was burning my whole mouth. my garlic ebi enari bombs was straight trash no flavor and barely any filling. but most of all what set me off was the teri chicken kalbi bowl dont worry i have a pic of that one enjoy. -5* never going back lost my appetite for genki and wasted my damn money.

Seasonal: Mushroom Poppers

When anyone wants to save money on sushi, it's almost customary to go to Genki. We visited to check out their specials, but unfortunately half of the $80 worth of food we ordered here did not get to us, or was just straight up not what we ordered. Ever since the trains got installed, I swear the order accuracy just gets worse and worse. I wanted to post a picture of their seasonal karaage gunkan, but we never got it. We called the server 3 times for water refills, wrong orders, and to ask a question and we just didn't want to keep calling them over for things that just could've been prevented. I don't believe that we should need to keep calling that loud call button just to get our water refilled, but maybe that's just me. Also, a couple of our nigiri had half sized fish in comparison to others which felt like a ripoff. We don't expect much from Genki, but we definitely expect at least a decent experience.

This is our weekly go to place to get our sushi fix! Place is always clean and food is fresh. It can get a little busy at times and service will be a little slow but hard working young folks here with good vibes. If you plan to order a bento for take out while dining in do order well ahead of time before you leave.

Is 8PM the new closing time now?

Yes, I believe so.

Is this AYCE?

No. You pay per plate. Every color plate has a different price

Is there all you can eat?

Sorry no, must pay per plate. Each color plate is a different amount

Are you guys open? I'm trying to make a phone order but no ones answering

I think their hours are 9:00AM - 8:00PM. if you called after those times, (or before,) then you might be too early or too late. If you called in between when they are open, they might just be really busy.

BYOB at Waikele location?

Unfortunately not.

They served delicious food and the birthday meal was worth it! You can choose from the TEISHOKU section of a 1, 2 or 3 choice and receive a birthday discount! That's their free meal. BUT... it's MUST BE ON THE DAY OF YOUR BIRTHDAY! They will ask for ID so be sure to come here for that $24 discount on your meal. And BRING SOMEONE to eat with because it has to have purchase to receive the discount! It's a great COUPLES outing or date night! They close @ 9pm but open at 11am so you have some time to make it. They do reservations ONLINE ONLY and hold the spot for you with a credit card. You can have more than 6+ but it will cost you to hold and DONT cancel because you may get charged for cancellation fee. But as I said... THEY ARE SO WORTH COMING HERE! The workers were so friendly and nice and kind! James and Keala both were considerate and our food came pretty quick too! OH! And their MOCHI ICE CREAM is ONO! Tastes like the mold school FOREMOST NEAPOLITAN ICE CREAM. The half gallon that came in the 1980's green box. Remember those??! So yeah... they are a BIT PRICEY for the meals but very worth it! Especially if you love watching those Korean dramas and get hungry for food during their meal scenes. Now I'll be thinking of KUNI's. lol Ok thanks for reading and ENJOY! James. Keala. Kaya

On my last visit, there was a lunch party going on and the space they were in was a bit odd. They had several long tables set up in what is normally the lobby/waiting area, right next to the restrooms. There was also another party going on the smaller party room behind the reception desk. I guess they just know how to make things work and try to configure seating the best they can! My latest two visits were pretty memorable with regards to the food. Both times were with tables for over 10 people and I must say, I'm surprised that both times, I was pleasantly surprised at the speed we received our food. I ordered the Bi Bim Bap and a plantation iced tea on my first recent visit, and Chirashi set with a Moscow mule on my second recent visit. The Bi Bim Bap was pretty good, and the plantation iced tea wasn't overly sweet like many can be because of the pineapple juice. The real winner was the Chirashi set. It had a lot going on and contained ingredients I don't usually get with other Chirashi bowls. It had unagi for one, and another surprise was a tiny portion of uni. We splurged on dessert on my latest visit with Brown Butter Cake, Creme Brulé, and Chocolate Molten Cake. Both came with a side scoop of vanilla ice cream. All were very good and little on the pricey side. The Brown Butter Cake and Chocolate Molten Cake were $17 each. Were they worth $17 each? I guess considering it's not every day I buy a $17 dessert, sure, it was worth it. My favorite of the three? The Brown Butter Cake! I'm looking forward to dining at Waikele Country Club Restaurant again and recommend it if you're looking for a local meal that's a little more upscale than the norm.
