Good: Decent place for sushi given the location. American dream roll, Colombia roll and Fuji roll are very good. Hibachi and Udon are good. Bad: The cashier woman that takes orders is super rude sometimes lol, but I can't imagine being a sushi restaurant cashier is that great so I can sympathize with that, and she's been there as long as I can remember going there for like 10+ years. It also became take out only during the pandemic and they never reopened dining. The only bad thing about the food itself is that the same roll can taste totally different the next time you get it.

From left to right you have the Godzilla roll, pink lady and American Dream.

After driving to Litchfield and looking at Yelp reviews, I felt inclined to try Sakura. From the parking lot, things look sketch, however they had a Budweiser sign and I knew we would be okay. Front door is stunning, colorful lights on the ceiling are amazing, DDR inspired tracks add to the quaint but classy environment. Tiffany greeted us with an option of table or booth, we chose booth. She then complimented my hair and brought a smile to my face. She promptly brought us our drinks and asked if we needed anything. All I needed was a recommendation on the best roll to try, she stated the American dream was "sooooo good", so we tried it. We ordered the Godzilla roll, pink lady and American dream. All of which were incredible. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone stopping in good ol' Litchfield. Thanks Tiffany for your wonderful suggestion and kind words. You are the gem Litchfield.

I feel like I have really high expectations for sushi. I'm originally from Chicago and was really wary of eating here at first. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was very quick and pleasant. We ordered 5 different things; California roll, Alaska roll, tuna roll, red dragon roll, and salmon sashimi. Food came out really quickly. Waited only about 10 minutes. It was presented wonderfully and was absolutely delicious. So happy I ate here and will be going again.

The service here is fast and friendly, the decor is modern and welcoming, and the food is always excellent. I highly recommend their rainbow roll, tuna sunset roll, snow mountain roll, udon, and the crabmeat tempura.

    Gyoza!

The best restaurant in Litchfield, hands down! The quality of this sushi is superb! We eat here at least once a month. We have never been disappointed. This place is clean and modern. The people who run this place are friendly. The service is always spot on and fast. If you can't make it in to sit down, order for pick up. Great place, give them a try. Love the gyoza, snow mountain roll and house fried rice.

The first was while in a hotel when we first arrived in June to move into our "forever home" in Staunton (about 10 miles away). We went again a month or so after moving in. We went today (Sunday lunch) because we wanted to pick up a few things at Walmart. Understand where I (we) are coming from. My wife spent her childhood in Hawaii, and her father is Japanese. I am an Army veteran, and have been to plenty of Asian restaurants around the world. I do have a tough standard. I am sincerely not trying to punch down. I want this place to be good, it would be better for my retirement years for it to be good. It is the closest option for buffet. Our Staunton option is a menu only, and it is also not a good option, at all. I understand that a place needs to cater to its patrons to be profitable. I am not saying they don't try, I'm not saying they don't care. I do understand that americanized and (bland) is what they need to lean into. Our lunch today was $40 and we both left unsatisfied. I am willing to eat anything and have the girth to prove it. My wife is a bit more particular, but certainly has the ability to provide a decent value judgement on the things she chooses. There just are not consistently good choices to be had here. The "sushi" for example is marginal at best. There are more breaded/fried items than truly exist in Asian menus at other places I have been. The other items almost always have a sauce that is salt and sugar forward. There are very few spices/textures that I would expect from a Chinese menu. It is relatively clean, the people working here do try to do a good job. I appreciate the effort required to put all this together for us. It has the standard Chinese restaurant decorations (I think there is a kit that can be ordered from somewhere), but they haven't overdone it. I do understand and accept that people like this place, and appreciate the offerings. I am in no way looking down on their preference, [To each their Own] and please continue to enjoy it. If you are however, just passing through, it may not be the best stop for good Chinese food, okay "food" sure, but not on par with other options I have enjoyed.

While i was debating a 2nd bite, i found a long hair. I stopped at 1 bite but really, for the best. The miso soup only tasted of salt and maybe Campbell's? Very mass produced, salty. I did take 2 "bites" of that. The hibachi looked good cooking but the fried rice was so oily. The vegetables very bland - maybe my tastebuds were dulled by the miso. The scallops were decent. The shrimp were fine. The filet was ok but I'm not really sure it was filet and not sirloin. I passed on the yum sauce- i don't find it yummy anywhere. I got ginger sauce which was decent. The Teriyaki was briwn syrup - so sugary sweet with little other taste. I took leftovers, mostly rice and steak, but just shared the steak with my dog and ditched the leftover greasy rice. Overall, just disappointing. My dining companions were nonplussed as well.

We wanted sushi so we were by the sushi bar. Japanese cuisine is supposed to be about presentation and flavor. This was neither. I order the sashimi appetizer, shrimp & vegetable tempura, and fancy rainbow roll. My tempura came out in a plastic red basket. The dipping sauce was a funny red sweet and sour sauce. The tempura was warm, but it lack the light fluffiness. My sashimi was somewhat arranged in a plastic tray. The only thing that barely passed was rainbow roll. Note: I did try asking for something else for my tempura. The waitress brought me mustard base sauce.. maybe from the hibachi side. What ever happen to classic tentsuyu sauce made with dashi, mirin, soy sauce, and grated daikon. Its tempura... not chicken nuggets. Hubby had the salmon lover and 2 white fish nigiri. The bill came out to be $85... and was an experience i rather forget. Upside, neither of us got food poisoning. Needless to say, I won't be back. Thr food was not worth the calories or thr money. Maybe better luck at Wasabi?

I just moved to town this June. This place is walking distance from my home. I want it to be good,…read moreI need it to be good. I do not want to have to drive to another town to get, what my wife calls "strip mall Chinese". This initial review is for my lunch time visit on 2 JUL 2025. I got carry out Hunan Pork, and Hot & Sour soup, as a combo,so it came with fried rice and an egg roll. I notice that the most recent reviews (glowing) were from 2023. Things can change, they can change overnight with a change of cook/staff or ownership. Someone local with more insight will eventually be able to fill me in. It is a nice enough place, overall. A bit run down, and a little bit cliche in terms of the decorating. With some light maintenance and a bit of editing on the decor, it could be a charming little spot, in a small Midwestern town. I am trying to be kind, becuase I have been fortunate enough to have travelled the world, and have gone to many different levels of restuarants. I like "simple" americanized Chinese food sometimes, it is something I actually look for when I got o different towns. The good; hot & sour soup was very nice, just tangy enough from the vinegar and just spicy enough from pepper (didn't detect any hot sauce flavors) to be good. There were mushrooms, bamboo, and a bit of tofu. I missed the drizzled egg that I have had in others versions. The could have been better; the Hunan pork was very one note, salt, was tender and good portion in the dish, but that just salt flavoring made it a bit hard to enjoy. The sauce was okay, and the vegetables were well prepared and balanced. The egg roll was an egg roll, if not mass produced, it just wasn't made with real attention, it was a bit hollow. The bad: fried rice, the texture was just plain wrong from anything I have had over many years and came to believe was correctly made. There were no "chunks" of anything, just vaguely browned rice (soy sauce perhaps). I will come back, I will try other things. I will order from the high end of the menu and see if perhaps they simply , for complex reasons I'm sure, decided to mail it in on the weekday lunch combos (places do that). I want Bamboo Garden to be better. I want it to be a reliable place for me to get good "strip mall Chinese."
