Would come back for their lunch buffet if I want indian food. $18pp Mon-Thur, $20pp else. Left so full and fat my vision is hazy. Came on Saturday, many people so food was hot and fresh, but not too busy around the food area. Northern style rich and creamy (pakora, samosa, butter chicken etc), vs Mantra Indian close by is more dishes popular in the south (basmati, pani puri, roganjosh). Good mix of vegetarian and meat dishes, a tad too salty and rich for my taste but still good. I liked veg curry (creamy and sweet with saag, peas, more), lentil makhani, egg curry, and paneer pashawari. Naan was weak, they had another bread i liked better that reminded me of Vietnamese banh tieu that went well with curries. Had an unexpected salad of ripe mango, black olives, bell peppers, and spring mix. I have to steal that combo i really liked it. Had free weak chai as well, don't know if they sold other drinks. Try to sit in the front, very large resturant but back area had industrial smell and felt like a dank cave to me.

Have been coming here for as long as I can remember. The buffet during lunch is so good with lots of options, both vegetarian and non-veg. Dimly lit with a nice ambiance inside. Buffet is open for lunch and dinner has only menu ordering. The recent time I came here was for lunch for Father's Day. Definitely make a reservation if you plan to come here on a weekend for lunch. Even with reservation there's sometime I wait. I wish there was a waiting area /or even buzzer or text system as it's super crowded and you have to wait inside so you can hear when they call your name. Also if you come for lunch don't come too late as items like the pain puri will have run out. For the buffet there's lots of options for appetizers, entrees and desserts. They have unique items like masala desi fries and avocado chat.

I dined here for the first time, I enjoyed their weekend lunch buffet. It was priced at $18.99 and their lunch buffet is priced at $17.99. Excellent food at a great price. I already forgot the names of the items I loved but there were plenty of standout dishes and I will make sure to come back soon. The servers were attentive and they were quick to refill my drink. I got here at 1:30pm on a Saturday and there were lots of people but still a few tables open but it may be a good idea to make a reservation just in case.

    Kebob

Started with the lamb seekh kebabs, which arrived impressively... cold. Points for ambition. They did redo them (20 minutes later) and the second round was actually solid flavor-wise, but the outer ~¼ inch was noticeably dried out. Also: whole elaichi pods in the kebab. Yes, it's "traditional." It's also a fun little surprise when you're trying to enjoy meat and suddenly bite into perfume. Please don't. Butter chicken was mid, tastes like it's leaning hard on the gravy to do the heavy lifting. Probably Deep. Lotus seed dish was the one I was most excited for, and it somehow managed to be bland through the sauce. The seeds themselves weren't marinated, so once you get past the gravy it's just... vibes. Bombay fish: mild flavor, questionable fish quality, and that slightly rubbery texture that makes you wonder how long it's been thinking about its life choices. Naan was good, though it also gave "reheated not fresh" energy. Overall: another textbook Indian menu the size of a novella, with results that scream "we do everything" instead of "we do anything exceptionally." Disappointing for Castro Street. 6/10.

WHAT AYCE Indian food from northern and southern India: chicken, fish, lamb, vegan, appetizers, desserts (plural!). Delicious! We tried stuff that we might never order in a regular Indian restaurant. COST $25 weekdays $28 weekends is VERY REASONABLE to me for a place that has no limit on what you can consume. We went on a Friday night, no time limit for us, but if they are super crowded I can see how they might put a time limit. FOOD 10/10 I wish I took a picture of the buffet line but I didn't want to be weird. There were so many choices, and several dessert items too, including soft serve ice cream, this place is a gem. Not many renovations as you enter half the old bar seating area is the area in which their buffet is displayed. Alot of display's of happy hour promotions, catering, pricing which none reflected on aspect of the business or the other (website). Friday afternoon is apparently considered a weekend buffet even though there are many business's around for a quick biz lunch. So we were charged the 'weekend buffet' pricing per person. Around $28. The buffet is on the massive side. Northern, Southern and probably a couple other regions of Indian food. It's rare I get a Indian buffet with so many options. Was happy sambar was available, medu vada, idli's. But also tried out some dishes never heard of. Upon seating we were brought both naan and dosa. Coconut and tamarind chutney was a nice surprise also. Chicken option and fish were done well. I can't remember exactly what recipe as tried a lil taste of many, but the point is they cook their meat and fish well with great flavor balance. There were a handful of goat options also. Never had a chickpea salad like they offered nor bitter gourd pickle! Loved that chickpea salad. As for the bitter gourd pickle, it was a good pickle recipe but if familiar with bitter gourd, it was 'unique'. Too full for dessert but it does exist. It's on the keeper list.

The…read moresetup is actually pretty cool because you get your own individual hot pot so you don't have to share broth, but there's still a shared grill in the middle for the BBQ. The all-you-can-eat is the move here. The meat quality is solid--the wagyu beef and spicy pork belly usually hit the spot on the grill. On the hot pot side, the pork bone broth is a safe bet, and the spicy broth actually has a decent kick to it. Also, they have those little fried buns with condensed milk that are dangerously good. They give ice cream at the end with a cone which is sweet dessert. The vibe is super lively and loud, definitely not a quiet dinner spot. They even have those robots rolling around bringing out plates, which is kind of funny to watch. Service is quick; you just order everything on your phone and it shows up fast. Just remember the 90 minute limit. It's clean, modern, and you'll definitely leave feeling like you need a nap. Great spot to hit with a group if you're looking to get a lot of food without breaking the bank.

I understand that it might be intentional so it can be customizable from the big variety of sauces at the sauce bar. But I would say its very lacking. No salt, no depth. Almost like flavored water. - Portions are okay. It's AYCE so it makes sense that their portions are smaller. but it is much smaller than places ive been to. Please be mindful when you decide which meat to be on the grill as majority of them is to be for hotpot. so it will dissolve on the grill the moment you realize it. - Meat quality is fine for AYCE. However there are some thats a bit questioning. The spicy beef is just the thinniest slices that are marinaded in the chili oil. But after cooking the texture and even flavor is very very off. I highly recommend getting the Finger Cubes BBQ (i think), nice blend of fat and meat and def the most flavorful. - ORDERING SYSTEM is a nightmare. Since the portions are so small, you would have to order multiple rounds and there is a time block apparently so you dont over order. But the system is so slow and not intuitive at all. At first i thought they are just opened and would give it some time to improve. But now i dont see myself coming back at all.

The prices have gotten higher, and they limit you to two times at the buffet, so you need to make sure you fill each bowl as much as you can! Two full bowls of food is plenty for me though. First, you need two bowls when you go up to the buffet. They get full fast, so fill one up with noodles and meat and then the other bowl with vegetables! Two full bowls of raw and cold foods will shrink down to just one bowl of food when cooked. They also give you rice and soft serve ice cream for dessert. They used to have spring rolls and a few other sides available, but it seems they've done away with that. The price of this is $25.99 on weekends, and slightly less expensive on weeknights. It was definitely pricier than our last visit, but that's to be expected. I did two separate sauce recipes. I tried the curry and I did their House Mongolian BBQ sauce. Once you give the cooks your bowls then they quickly cook it all on their enormous grill surface. Being able to design your dish is part of the fun with Mongolian BBQ. I wish there were more Mongolian BBQ places in the Bay Area like this!
