    Khao Soi Beef
    Shahed K.

Overall Rating: 9 out of 10 Atmosphere: we went there on Saturday, for a relatively early dinner. The place was buzzing. The interior was tastefully decorated. Everyone seemed happy and seemed to have been enjoying their dinner. We had a hard time finding a table, even though it was like 6 pm. Atmosphere Rating: 9 out of 10 Food: I really liked both the dishes. I am a big Khao Soi fan, and thoroughly enjoyed their version of this dish. Duck Roti was a good choice too. What we tried: * Khao Soi Beef - creamy and very flavorful broth. Noodles were perfectly chewy. Beef was fall apart tender. * Duck Roti - a good choice for an appetizer. The duck was tasty and the roti too. The duck did not smell like sometimes some other places do. They could have maybe added a little bit more meat. Food Rating: 9 out of 10 Customer Service: service was good, they were very attentive towards us. Customer Service Rating: 9 out of 10

Cute little Thai spot in flower mound. Our reservation was for nine people, but they set us at a table for eight. We ended up with 10 so it was a little bit tight ordering was time-consuming and the food came out slowly but not unexpected for a larger group. The food came out in groups that were 5 to 10 minutes apart. It was quite a long wait for the last couple folks and one of the last dishes to come out was a fish dish that wasn't even cooked all the way, so it had to be sent back. The servers were friendly and the food was overall pretty good. They did allow us to split the check into 3. The menu had a lot of variety and they had a fun cocktail menu with great pictures. I ordered the full moon party cocktail and the crispy pork belly chinese broccoli. The cocktail was really fun, but it was slowed coming out and actually came out quite a while after my food came out. I really enjoyed the sauce on my meal. The broccoli was a little bit better but I know that's how Chinese broccoli does tend to be. The pork belly was all right not the best I've had overall I don't think I would re-order what I got, but I would definitely try other items. The folks at my table enjoyed their food. We had different fried rice pad Thai other vegetarian dishes that were enjoyed. The birthday girl was given a free banana bread pudding dessert.

Came here on a rainy Friday afternoon in January with buddy for lunch and had a craving for some Tom Kha Soup. I was persuaded to try the khao soi - basically a Thai beef stew. I figured it would fit the bill, hoping that it was warm and filling. Since we were there at lunch, the item came as a lunch special with an egg roll and small salad. Nice value add, but nothing out of the ordinary. Service: solid 9/10. Greeted quickly, drinks stayed full, multiple people helped us. Atmosphere: 9/10 - plenty of space, not very many booths as I recall but comfortable seating. Food : solid 7/10. The flavor of the khao soi was tasty but three things held the dish back from being next level: spice level seemed deceptive. The beef was a little tough and chewy. The portion size was good but the meat was a workout to eat. Wanted medium and it was not even mild. (Perhaps I gave off a "scared of spice" vibe). The ratio of broth/ soup to noodles was low. I ran out of liquid before I finished the noodles despite my alternating eating cadence. Value: 7/10 - $25 for a lunch special is a little steep but admittedly there are less expensive options. Would I go back: Yes. Would I order the same item: Maybe with a little more direction and chicken instead of beef. Verdict: great local spot in the Lakeside area for a nice, cozy lunch and possibly even a nice dinner.

Great Thai restaurant in Flower Mound! I ordered green curry w/ chicken, and it was delicious! My friend had been here a few times and said the Sakhuu white Pad Thai is a good choice too. I went on a Friday evening, so it was busy, and I waited a while until I had to wave at one of the servers to take our orders, which is why I deducted a star. The interior is small and quite fancy with not many seating, so it may be a good idea to make a reservation, especially during the weekends.

    Noodles in soy base soip

This is not Asian Thai but a TEXAS fusion. The crispy duck noodle is tasteless. Duck is deep fried with light batter and served along side to a soy base soup that is bland. It's nothing like Japanese chicken karaage or Taiwanese basil chicken. It looks larger with all the batter but not much duck inside of it. Soup was soy and not that great tasting that I barely touched it. I got the Thai salad and mango with stick rice to go. Thai salad was soaked in sauce (so ask to put on the side if you don't like it drenched). It included whole roasted peanuts. Taste was nothing spectacular. Sticky Rice with mango had a sweet coconut sauce to add on top. Mango wasn't that sweet and rice was on the hard side (but I did refrigerate and waited a day to eat it). It wouldn't taste like much without the sweet coconut sauce. Service was ok, some workers don't understand English but friendly and accommodating. It's a small quaint restaurant so good if you want to talk in semi dark environment that's not too loud. The bill added an automatic 18% tip fee for 1 person/1 dish and 2 take out orders. It was removed but annoying to even see vs. allowing the diner to choose an appropriate amount.

I ordered Khao Soi (the beef noodle curry), Fried dumpling, and the green chicken curry. The Khao Soi is must try! Service is good. The restaurant is small. Good for quick lunch and small group.

I really wanted to love Saku Thai, because Thai food is one of my great food loves. If I'm choosing a cuisine, it's almost always Indian or Thai. I travel, I try new Thai spots constantly, and I care deeply about execution and flavor, not just heat. You do not need to melt my face, but the flavors have to be there. Let's start with the positives, because there are real ones. The ambiance is genuinely great. The space is beautiful, well lit, nicely plated dishes, cool table lamps, overall a very polished vibe. Aesthetically, this place is absolutely above average. Service was friendly but a little odd. We were seated and then sort of... left there. No warm welcome, no drink offer, just someone eventually walking up with a tablet asking what we wanted. Everyone was nice, it just felt a little disconnected and transactional on the front end. Now the food. The Tom Kha soup was fine, not bad, but very lime forward and missing depth. It lacked that layered balance you want from galangal, coconut, and aromatics. Perfectly edible, just not memorable. The Pad Thai, however, deserves real credit. It was excellent. Easily a 9 out of 10. Balanced, flavorful, and well executed. If you are coming here specifically for Pad Thai, you will be happy. No complaints there at all. The Pad See Ew was the opposite. Strikingly below average. It was missing that deep, savory, umami soy richness that makes the dish work. I would not order it again. We also ordered the Thai Basil. One of the pillars of Thai cuisine! When you order it, you want that amazing Thai basil flavor with the brown savory sauce that makes people just go "Yesss!l when they try it. This again, was just flat. The intense flavor just wasn't there. Super dissapointing. The Panang curry was okay. Familiar. Nothing offensive, nothing exciting. As we kept eating, it just felt like something was... off. Not bad, just flat. Like the flavors never quite opened up. I judge Thai restaurants by one simple question, would I come back. For the Pad Thai, yes. For everything else, probably not. Here's the moment where everything clicked. Toward the end of the meal I went to the restroom and passed a storage area stacked high with canned curry paste. And suddenly the whole meal made sense. I've cooked with those pastes before. They're fine for home cooking. But when you're a polished, sit down Thai restaurant, that's not what you want to be serving. At that point it became clear why everything tasted familiar and slightly muted. It wasn't elevated, it was assembled. This isn't bad Thai food. You won't hate your meal. Most people will say it was great. But if you're someone who really knows Thai flavors and is looking for a place you'll crave and bring friends back to again and again, this probably isn't that spot. Come for the ambiance and the Pad Thai. Just set expectations for the rest.

    Emerald dumplings

To be completely honest, the yellow curry was absolutely the star of the show. It was perfect in every way the creaminess, the texture, and the spice level were all spot-on. The veggie dumplings were also AMAZING. That said, the reason for the lower rating comes down to a few service-related issues. First, the service was extremely slow. While I understand they were busy, it was disappointing to see the bartender being far more attentive to other patrons than to us. When our food arrived, we didn't have any silverware and had to wait close to 15 minutes just to begin eating our appetizers. The drinks took just as long to come out, even though we were seated directly at the bar. I will say this the bartender makes AMAZING drinks, and they were genuinely worth the wait. However, the glitter spray used on the drink was not okay, as it ended up getting all over some of our food, which was really disappointing. Overall, if the service issues mentioned above are addressed, we would consider returning.

In the space where Ramen Akira was for a short while! The dining room was crowded on a Saturday night, a good sign! The space was intimate, good for a date, but loud when we were there (a few very loud tables). We sat at the bar at the suggestion of the staff, though we weren't there to have any drinks, it was just fine, though! I had San Pellegrino on ice with lime. It was nice they offered it in a glass. Ordered the Duck Roti to start, I recommend it - even as an intro to duck if you haven't had it. Duck sauce is sweet and compliments the roti roll nicely. The entire fare seems like it would be heavy, but is quite light and perfect for 2 to share as an appetizer. For entrees, we decided we'd prefer to sit at a table and share plates next time because we want to try several things and individual portions are good for one person. Got the crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli (this is a prime candidate for sharing, it's a lot of pork belly in one go!) that came with white rice. Also had green curry, which is my favorite and I had to see how theirs compares. It's worth noting: if you love the spicy Thai food, like real spice, this is not for you. Even at the "spicy" (highest) level, we could detect no spice at all. I think even my son who dislikes anything spicy would have been able to eat the "spicy" spice level. I didn't see any way we could order extra spicy... but I guess for the area, it's ok? I can't imagine what "mild" or "medium" are like if "spicy" doesn't even register for me! Anyway, we will definitely return, and with friends next time to share many more of the recommended plates!

This new restaurant is worth the visit. The food is amazing, service is wonderful, and the place itself is very intimate. The servers frequently refill waters and pick up dishes, so they're very attentive. Everything seems to be made fresh to order, so don't expect the dishes to come out all at once! We ordered a variety of dishes and appetizers, all equally tasty and worth the price. We tried the emerald dumplings and spring rolls. The dumplings had a perfect filling of shrimp and chicken and they were lightly crispy. The spring rolls were served hot and fresh. For entrees we ordered the khao Soi, crab meat egg noodles, and two fried rice. The khao soi curry was so rich and tasty and paired really well with the stewed beef. The dish is very decadent and has a generous portion of beef. The crab meat egg noodles had a great taste too and a good portion of lump crab meat. The fried rice didn't disappoint either. However, we recommend getting the basil fried rice: it has a nice, complex flavor and is unlike anything we've tried before. For dessert we got the banana Bombay. It was good and you get to pick from a variety of ice cream flavors (sesame, mango sorbet, etc.) we got the mango sorbet, which was perfect and not overly sweet. The dessert itself is good, but I'd like to try the mango sticky rice or bread pudding next time!

What a great restaurant to have in Flower Mound. First time to visit and it was fantastic. We tried a sampling of five dishes with varying spice levels. The over flavors and seasoning was great. Visual plating was superb. The service took excellent care of us and our table was touched by several different team members. Very gracious and hospitable. Felt very welcome and attended to our entire visit. Finally, the ambiance was pleasant. Relaxed and upscale in comparison to other Thai restaurants in our community. Look forward to our next visit so that we can further explore their delicious menu.

The restaurant is large with a nice bar area and the service was very friendly and efficient! Apps: Chili Momos (Veg) and Gobi Manchurian - the momos were super crispy and the sauce was very spicy in a good way! The Manchurian was so saucy and packed with flavor. Recommend both! Mains: Himalayan Thukpa, Palak Paneer, Malai Kofta - the Thukpa was the highlight! The broth was perfectly salty with a great umami taste. The Malai Kofta was rich and I enjoyed the cheesy koftas. The Gurkhas Old Fashioned was smooth with a twist, and the hot rum punch felt like warmth in a glass just right for winter. The place itself was cozy, with a vibe that made me want to linger. I made my reservation on Resy. A couple of days later I get a call from the restaurant saying they needed a $25 deposit over the phone, in case we cancel. I have dined at a lot of restaurants but never have I made a deposit upfront, they would just have a card on file and charge it if there is a no show. The lady on the phone (Chelsea) said we would only have 90 minutes at our table, which is standard for most restaurants. Nevertheless we paid $25 and kept our reservation, since Valentine's Day is busy time I figured this was the reason for all of this. Upon our arrival we were seated right away, and as soon as we sat down the hostess let us know that they would need our table by 5:45pm, because that is when the next reservation would be there. Right off the bat I felt rushed. I hated the table we were sat in, because we were so close in proximity to other people. Tycoon is very pretty inside, but if you are not seated in one of their spacious booths, the other tables are so close together, you will definitely hear other people's conversations. Let's talk about the food, I ordered the Lavender Lemonade as my cocktail and that was really good. For our appetizer we had the Deviled eggs, and I was excited because I love Deviled Eggs, but these were just okay. I didn't love how over stuffed they were, I just felt like it was too much. For my entree I had the Chicken Parmesan which I thoroughly enjoyed. I thought my meal was flavorful and the pasta was perfectly cooked. My husband had the sea bass and he loved his food. To end the night we shared their Dessert Trio and that was delicious, aside from the Creme Brûlée because that had no taste. Their service was good. Our waiter was nice and attentive. I definitely didn't feel rushed by him, but the same hostess stood near waiting for me to take my last bite of pasta so she could take the plate from the table. We were watching the time the whole time to make sure we got out of there on time. Overall I was disappointed. I get that Valentine's Day is busy day for restaurants but I don't want to be rushed through a dinner that should be enjoyable.
