Service was exceptional, server Julie went above and beyond with my dishes. Her selection was great! The ambiance was absolutely beautiful and they had a dj for the evening. The reason I gave it a 4 star was one slight thing in the food. The ribs were very chewy and not tender enough. But overall it is a great place to attend.

Valet parking $20 Mandatory 20% service charge Ambiance and view is very nice. We came here at 2pm on a Saturday. The quality of the fish is fresh however we ordered the miso cod lettuce cups and it took 30 minutes for it to come out. They also had to remake our smoked salmon hand roll because they didn't put the truffle on it. The server didn't really come around to check up on us even though it wasn't busy. We told one of the staff that we wanted to order two snow crab handrolls and after waiting another 30 minutes, we were told that the order was never relayed to our server so it was never put in. The owner was very kind and apologetic and they took the snow crab handrolls off our tab, which we appreciated. overall, the experience was a bit disappointing given the delays and lack of service, but the atmosphere and the owner's response helped redeem it slightly. be prepared to wait and pay a pretty penny.

As much as I adore this spot, it feels more like a Malibu essential for the ambiance than for the nomz. Pescavegan friendly, and able to accommodate dairy allergies. The food was good -- just not particularly filling. I'm all for model-sized munchies, but on a late Friday night (after a full day of moving), I was hoping for a few heartier options to truly get my grub on. I can't fully vouch for the service since I was admittedly distracted by the decadent decor -- and perhaps slightly lost in my Italian lover's eyes. That said, the space itself is painfully gorgeous. Also: be prepared to valet. I believe it's $20ish just to park, which strikes me as high (but I'm much cheaper than my customer service-savvy companions, who don't bat an eye in the face of expense). Sake House Malibu is undeniably a vibe, and absolutely worth a return for the atmosphere alone. RSVP energy required.

My boyfriend and I had anniversary dinner here after seeing videos about this place. Great ambiance and nice server! However the food is just okay, it took about 25 minutes for crispy rice to course out and additional 15-20 minutes per dish. Happy sumo cocktails were just meh. Star of the show was the crispy rice with truffle soy salmon. Everything was just okay and a bit overpriced. I wouldn't recommend anyone if you want to spend almost $300 for two people, parking is $20 as well. This place is definitely for anyone who prefers slow table turns and ambiance but don't expect your dishes to come out fast because it'll bored you quick waiting.

I had made a reservation to come here. Since it's on social media everyone is raving..,Let me say it's a disappointment for me and my daughter. First of all I don't like to leave a bad review but I had to. I walked up to the reception and I was alittle early and told her I had reservation and she said to wait on the right side to be called, that lady at the desk didnt smile or greet kindness at all and I felt like for this place environment, thought would be a better services. We got sat in and the waiter took our order, never once the waiter came by and ask if we need refill water, and never ask how was everything, or if we need anything else. Food was good what we ordered but I think the chicken karaage didnt taste as good..so crunchy and chicken was really dry...we also ordered miso soup it came out little to warm. What I think is this place needs more experience waiter, cause the 1 I had really don't deserve any stars...if you want a 20% standard tips then you should at least meets the standard of customer services.. The waiter I had didnt meet minimum standards customer services. Let me say this rather u valet or not if you want to park your car in structure it would be a $20.00 charge all day if you pay cash and with credit card theres an xtra fee. The ambience I can say very decorated and beautiful ocean view. Overall I wouldn't come back it's too pricey for the food portion and the taste of it. Was happy to get this experience since I didn't know with fb, instagram and tik tok was hyping about... So the 2 was the scenery the customer services was 0 Waiter 0 Food 3 By the way FYI it's on 3rd floor sake house Malibu but it's also known as Rafi Lounge, I was confused wasn't sure if I got off the right floor or not. Very disappointed.

Difficult to write 2-3 star reviews because this restaurant/location could be so amazing if they work on a few things. The view and ambience is 4 stars in my book. The view across the street from Nobu is nice up on the hill. The view at sunset is great if you're focused on that element. The parking was good with valet, seemed appropriate with stairs or the elevator to start. 20 for the valet. The overall feeling is sufficient given the location of the place. But overall, just too much competition in a variety of ways to choose over it. This place has some issues from my experience. Ok, Let's now review the why here and why I rate this place as being meh, not going back kind of place. The service to start was terrible. We walked in sat in the section waiting to be seated and we ordered drinks that never came. We eventually reordered when we sat down at our table later on. The service at the table was also extremely slow and they were not even really busy there. The food is what stands out the most to me. We ordered several different things that quite frankly I would've probably returned back if given the chance. the short ribs were like beef jerky. They were so chewy. I think I could've cooked better short ribs at home in a microwave. The portion of the ribs were small and thin. .The forbidden rice with spicy tuna was bad too. The rice was under cooked and really gummy. Also were portioned in a small tiny way. Value is a huge thing for me and this wasn't nobu across the street quality wise. The lettuce wraps were actually somewhat decent. Good flavor, but the overall portions were so extremely small and you're paying 20 to 30 depending on the plate just doesn't feel like the quality and value are there for the price and area. The sake black bowls at the table were dirty. The one I had in front of me had a crusty spot in it. The menu booklet was a print out and not the same visually at each section of our table. I mean half fast done I'm sorry to say. Once again the lack of value and quality is everything here with so much competition out in Malibu. The view and setting is great, but besides drinks late nite here, I don't see it at least right now. The presentation on the dishes seems alright, but the quality and depth of the value needs improvement. Suggestions: put some more time and money into menu and service. Offer more suggestions, improve on the portion size and quality.

I absolutely loved everything about this restaurant! The Japanese inspired architecture and decor are exquisite and truly create an immersive feel! The restaurant sits on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, which of course provides amazing views! When you arrive, the entrance is a little bit obscure. At least for us we were dropped off in a parking garage and then went into the lobby of a building. Had to take the elevator up to the third floor, which then allowed you to enter the restaurant. However, once you get up there, it is spectacular... from the moment you step off the elevator you are enveloped in Japanese surroundings. All of the dining is outside under a giant sakura tree.... Which is lit up in a fabulous pink light, making for a very romantic dinner! Our waiter came over almost immediately got a drink and appetizer order and came back shortly later to get our dinner order. All of the food came out quickly, so probably best to order it in stages. We started tonight with the Cucumber Salad, Chicken Gyoza and the Miso Black Cod Lettuce Wraps. Then moved onto Yellowtail Habanero Sashimi, which was presented like a piece of art!! And beyond delicious! My husband also had a few pieces of Tuna and Salmon Sushi. And we finished up with Flourless Chocolate Cake also presented in a truly unique way! ( see photos) Everything that we had was some of the best food I've ever eaten! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in Malibu. It is such an experience and the food is delicious. The other fun aspect of this restaurant is they have live Geisha girls singing and dancing! It makes for such an amazingly fun special entertaining night something you just have to experience!

Very welcoming, a zen atmosphere. The view towards the ocean is beautiful. The service was excellent, from the moment we stepped foot into this beautiful place to the time we left. We received great recommendations on shareable plates and their drinks. The food is high quality, the Sashimi was buttery smooth. The spicy tuna tartar was mouth watering as were the dumplings. Took me back to our trip to Japan. The photos don't do the food justice. I highly recommend this Sushi house and I will be coming back to try other items on the menu. Note the underground parking is before you get to the Greek restaurant. 20 cash or 21 via CC.

Ambiance 4 stars. Service 4 stars. Food 2 stars. We spent $1,063, for 5 people and we all left still hungry, the smallest portions known to mankind. We left and were tempted to grab McDonald's after we were so hungry. Also waited an hour for rolls we ordered. You get a view of the ocean but for the price we paid MAJOR LET DOWN! Great photo ops, also party of 5 20% gratuity added and service was just ok. We will not be going back or recommending anyone to try this place. It's a gimmick, a trap with an ocean view and EXTREMELY OVER PRICED SUSHI!

Don't come here hungry. Our dinner ended up taking nearly three hours. It took about 10 minutes just to be greeted, and since we were walk ins we were seated at a large shared table, which was fine. But appetizers took almost an hour to arrive. The edamame and crispy rice tuna were good, but the hot items (wings and shumai) came lukewarm/cold, and our edamame had salt despite requesting no salt. Our dumplings were also mistakenly given to the table next to us and had to be remade. After that, it was extremely hard to get our server's attention to place the rest of our order. Sushi didn't start coming out until another hour later, and I had to confirm that our order had even been put in. The table next to us had the same issue and asked to rush their food because they had a flight. We were told there were several chefs working, but the pacing was still very confusing. The sushi itself was fresh and made well. Unfortunately, the shumai were not good and the wings would have been fine if they were hot. I noticed other tables cocktails looked great and came out quickly, but the kitchen seemed disorganized and the staff visibly stressed. We asked for the check and the whole process took 30 minutes to get out of there due to service delays and were given the wrong change and another table's receipt. All the waiting and mistakes really added up to the three hour experience. The space is cute and very photo friendly with a beautiful ocean view, though the concept felt a bit corny. If you come, order everything at once and be prepared to wait.

This restaurant doesn't be honest with their menu, I came here at 5pm and they do have the happy hour menu but when they order they charge me full price! This is my sister birthday so I want she's comfortable with everything but with this expensive sushi they didn't offer any small cake and the service was so rude and had attitude with us. I came here to spend money but they made us feel like we asked for the food. I know we are not the customers that they looking for . So they should reject us before we came, they accepted us to come to sit in their restaurant and then they act like that. I was horrible experience, feel like got scam.... Not recommended, you guy should make appointment with NOBU in the opposite

I choose outside, and he tells me he'll bring a menu. Ten minutes pass. No menu. He never returns. Another employee - a woman with a long braid - is darting in and out, clearly busy, but never once acknowledges me or says hello. I eventually go inside to request a menu. The same young man asks if I'd like water; I say yes. The water never arrives. The woman with the long braid continues going in and out of the very small shop another five or six times. I'm seated directly outside the door, yet I'm completely ignored. A third employee appears, and it's clear there's confusion about who is doing what. Still, no one takes responsibility. I have to ask - again - if my order will be taken and also request water once more. At this point, I ask the young man directly whether I should just leave and go somewhere else, because it's obvious their operations aren't dialed in. I'm hungry and already know what I want: the blue crab roll and the Mexicali roll. The food comes out fairly quickly, and while it is fine and did what it needed to do, nothing ruins a meal faster than inattentive service. No one checks in to see if I need anything. At one point, the third employee mumbles a quick apology and mentions they want to close the shop door. I won't be coming back. The overall service communicated a clear lack of care, and what they managed to do exceptionally well was leave me with the impression that I didn't matter at all.

I opted for the sushi combination, which came with 5 pieces of nigiri (albacore, yellowtail, shrimp, tuna, salmon) and a choice of either a California roll or spicy tuna. I got the spicy tuna. It was a great amount of food and the sushi was wonderful. The size of the nigiri was generous without being cumbersome to eat. The ratio of rice to fish was on the lower end as well. I was a little bummed they didn't include ginger in the box but they did give soy sauce and chopsticks. -1* because it took much longer than quoted for my order and because the packaging was cracked and so when I tried to use the top as a "bowl" for soy sauce it leaked and got all over my countertop. And the tonkatsu? Legit one of the best I've had--perfectly fried with that golden, crisp exterior that somehow stays light, not greasy, and gives way to juicy, tender pork. The kind where you don't even need sauce... but you'll still use it anyway. What really seals it for me here is the gozen sets. If you're indecisive (or just hungry), this is your place. So many combinations, and everything comes out like a full spread. My current go-to is the steak gozen--basically the "why choose?" option. You get miso soup, salad, tonkatsu, tempura, soba... it just keeps coming. It's generous without feeling overdone, and somehow everything still tastes dialed in. I used to be loyal to the sukiyaki gozen (RIP, still not over it), but the steak set has filled that void nicely. Bottom line: delicious, satisfying, and surprisingly good value for how much you get. If you're in the South Bay and craving a proper Japanese set meal--not a rushed version--this is the move.

Loved eating here. The dinner set is more than enough to enjoy per person. The ambience is updated,…read moreand you can be seated in a large communal area vs in smaller quieter semi-private areas. The katsu is soft tender tasty and overall amazing.

This was by far one of the best sushi meals we have had. Everything was scratch made by them, extremely fresh, many ingredients imported from Japan. Such thoughtful preparations and pairings, utterly delicious. Chef Jae explained everything very well and was personable. Beautiful setting, modern and romantic. They also have a great ala carte menu we will be back to try. A true gem!

Chef Jae guides you through a thoughtfully crafted $190 18 course "Taste Forest" that's sure to delight. When my husband and I showed up at the neighboring lounge (which does not open before the first Omakase dining slot at 5:30 pm), we weren't quite sure what to expect. When we told them we were there for the Omakase dinner at 5:30 pm, the staff kindly let us in out of the heat while they continued to prepare the space for service in both the lounge and restaurant. They don't have a liquor license so all cocktails are sake-based, but none the less enjoyable. They also offer beer and wine. We were offered a menu while we waited, and yes - any drink you purchase in the lounge may accompany you to your dining experience. You can also add on a sake-pairing to your omakase meal for $55 each. We very much enjoyed a Yuzu Cocktail and the sake pairing. The customer service was fantastic, personable, and filled with intention - but if I were to provide constructive criticism - somewhat clumsy on the delivery. Chef Jae had everyone introduce themselves and included a Chef mentee on finishing up the plating of the sushi. Chef Jae is talkative and clearly enjoys speaking with guests - this all lends itself to the homey feel of the experience - but some staff were so soft-spoken it was difficult to hear them as they introduced our sake pairings, and sometimes the service seemed poorly timed with the courses. I think with a little rehearsal of how they want to approach dinner service (mainly timing, introduction and flow) would provide some more confidence and better execution of the experience they clearly wished to impart. The food was fantastic, and truly felt like a journey. Everything is prepared in house, and of the best quality. My husband and I are sure to be thinking about our experience here for a long time, and will be recommending others to come check it out. Note: If an omakase experience is not in your budget, they also offer ala carte items.
