    Their perfect menu pg.1

Happy to see hours were updated correctly now, thanks for being responsive to that. Your response was kind of absurd given the photo proof and wide listings of 9:30 (even based on your generous time stamp interpretation of my actual visit closer to late 8:40p) But following your comments even if as you say I was there at 9:20 (I stood outside for 15 mins writing the OG review so I probably left the sidewalk at 9:20 that's a clever twist of truth, you should work in media) why, why, why would any amount of time SHORT of what is listed be any kind of acceptable... I can imagine all the capitalist reasons ($) why one would play with listed vs. effective hours but it made for poor expectations ...anyhow you fixed that! Now everything says 8p which is setting proper expectations for your customers. Thanks. ************************************* However, I don't know why but it's a coin flip on the taste and flavor quality of your food still. *I can only speak to individual portions, not catering/large pans of food* It's like some days there's a good chef back there who cares and some days it feels like nothing has had time to actually absorb any flavors or be consistent. My wife even independently mentions when the food is "off" this was her favorite restaurant and the inconsistency turned this from a weekly trip to once or twice a year now. :( So yeah my menu comment still stands and stands apart from the prior issue that you fixed. It always did too, it's not like I was mad about your hours and decided to rag on your menu. I spent months slowly becoming more disappointed at your menu and absolutely LOST it when I was being gaslit about the hours of operation. If I could give you an extra half star because of the fix in listed hours I would, but the app doesn't let me. If the food was consistently good would be an easy 4 star. Not sure if the chef from 2014-2019 can be hired back? Because it feels like someone is just following that chef's recipes but feels like a revolving door of skill/care back there.

Great service! Our server was very prompt and attentive making sure we had all we needed. And the sushi was tasty!

Cozy neighborhood Thai restaurant with fresh flavors and just the right amount of spice. At least that's how I feel about SaiMai Thai in a nutshell! On a recent trip to the Windy City, a friend and I decided to meet more friends for a tasty dinner before heading out for the evening. SaiMai was just around the corner from their respective places, so we made the quick trek over for the evening. We were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess, who sat us in a quiet back corner for easy visiting. You walk down a few quick steps to enter the restaurant, so it all gives the feeling of an intimate and inviting space. A quick peek at the menu and I knew I was sprinting for my old favorite of Pad Kee Mow. After a short wait, our food came out, and I was not disappointed. I did what I usually do with Thai food: marvel at the huge portion, tell myself it's enough for two meals, then proceed to eat the whole thing. And I have absolutely no regrets that I did exactly that! Check in on Yelp for 10% off when it comes time to pay -- I had checked in but in the confusion of looking for cash (they don't split checks here), I completely forgot to use my offer! I guess that makes a great excuse for me to head back soon!

    107. Baby Veggie Egg Rolls (4 Pieces)

I recently had a free evening in Chicago after a long day of work, and was getting a prenatal massage in the neighborhood. I searched for the closest Thai restaurant on Yelp once I was done, and wandered over to SaiMai. It was a Tuesday evening around 6:30pm, and I was surprised to see the place was empty! It filled up with a few tables shortly after, but for a little while I had the whole place to myself. The interior is pretty no-frills which I'm always fine with as long as the food delivers, which is absolutely did. My friendly server was great, and brought over my order of baby veggie egg rolls pretty quickly. These were great! They were a nice way to start my meal, for sure. The accompanying sauce was perfectly tangy. The star of the show was by far the massaman curry. It was the most flavorful blend of coconut milk, potatoes, peanuts and white onions, and I got extra vegetables added as well. I ate way too much but it felt slightly criminal to let any of that beautiful curry go to waste. The food here is wonderful. It might be best as a carryout/delivery option, but I still enjoyed my time here. Can't say enough positive things!

It was good - but I'd like more beef. Expected that thick rich sauce, which this doesn't have, but the flavor was still delish. Would order again, but probably want to try other dishes first! Such quick, easy, friendly order and pick up over the phone.

Panang Curry once I put some of it in a bowl at home! So good!!

Legit one of the most authentic Thai places, especially with their Tom Yum Goong. It was the same creamy goodness that I remember growing up with. I usually serve it with a bowl of rice and they are very generous with the amount of prawns in there. Their papaya salad is funky and delicious. I love the curry as well!

Luckily with the reservation we were seated right away. For the weekend visit it was so hectic and service wasn't the best. We didn't get our order taken until about 20 minutes after being seated. We were sitting and waiting for a while. Trying to flag down a server was impossible because of how busy it was. On the weekday service was much more attentive. Visiting on a weekday would be much more worth it since you can just walk in. Both times we ordered the Tum Thai (papaya salad), but the only difference is on the weekend we were NOT allow to adjust the spicy level on the salad. The server informed us that it was already premade so spiciness was no adjustment. I loved it but the spicy level was a bit too much for me. Everything came out relatively quick. All the dishes were very well seasoned and saucy. My favorite was the kor moo yang, tum Thai, and mango sticky rice! I would come back just for the sticky rice because it is so addicting!!!

There are window views from the restaurant, making for good people watching. Mainly metered parking available Medium to large sized place with dedicated sections for thai food (about 8 tables and 2 rows of bar style seats) vs for sushi and ramen but all under the same place/owner, can order from any menu - the decor on that side is super cute, fish cutouts, anime/manga decorated walls, decked out bars Got the scuba diving chicken from the chefs faves and must say it was pretty good - a bit on the greasier side but the aroma of the herbs and the spices from the curry really pull through, chicken is cooked very well, super tender and juicy. I got the "No turning back" spice level and theres a hefty kick - halfway into the dish my mouth def feels it but nothing too extreme (FYI theres a slight mala-like numbingness to it) The traditional papaya salad was crunchy and refreshing, sauce is tangy but not too overwhelming. The peanuts add a nice nutty element to it. There were hardly any dried shrimp, so wouldve like to see a bit more of that. Be sure to give it a good mix as the sauce and topping fall to bottom of the bowl To top it off, the service was great. Albert was really attentive and helpful - would come back if im in the gold coast area again to try the other menu offerings

Seating was a little tight like at Phodega, but not terrible. To view menu, you scan a QR code at the table. My husband & I ordered the following: - Grilled Squid This was really good! I thought it was going to come out like little calamari rings, but it was actually a decently sized whole squid, sliced with the tentacles on the side. It was cooked perfectly as it was not chewy or rubbery. The flavor was great, especially with the paired Thai-spicy seafood sauce. - Crab Meat Fried Rice Loved that this was with real crab! & not the imitation crab. There were bits of crab meat throughout the rice and then topped with a big lump of crab meat. It came served with a lime & yummy fish sauce with fresh Thai chili's. - Bamee Noodles with BBQ Pork without broth This bowl of egg noodles had a slightly sweet flavor to it, served with a fox amount of BBQ Pork which was also nice & tender! Slurped it all up! - Jina's Fried Chicken This was good, but not anything like out of this world. It was fried chicken leg quarter, served with black sticky rice. - Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango LOVED this! It was a great way to end our meal! I loved that it came with extra sweet sauce! - Taro Tapioca in Coconut Milk Cream This was great too! It was actually a warm dessert. The menu described it as "Tapioca pearls" so I was expecting the tiny little clear boba balls, but it was cubes of like glutinous rice. Which was not bad! I liked it a lot; it reminded me of Ginataang Bilo Bilo (#iykyk if you're Filipino)! Overall, a delicious experience! We would eat here again!
