I've known about Saigon for about 3-4 years now. It's one of my go-to spots to get vietnamese food if I'm not able to get it homemade by my partner's mom. I always got their vermicelli bowl, Bun Thap Cam, but this time I decided to try their spicy noodle Soup, Bun Bo Hue. I was impressed with how good it was! The broth was pretty flavorful on it's own, but I always add lime and chili oil to all my noodle soups. You get the perfect ratio of noodles to meat, I just wish there was more scallions and cilantro for garnish. Their fresh limeade and brown sugar milk tea is also one of my favorites to order as a drink! read more

Extra points just for the server! I can't decide whether it's the cleanliness or the attentiveness that I liked most but they were both fantastic. I ordered the wings off the appetizer menu as a quick snack on my way to class. My request for a fast preparation was immediately accepted and within 10 minutes, I was enjoying the crispy, well cooked wings. They don't put any coatings apart from drizzling a simple sweet sauce and that was good enough. The washroom was also sparkling clean and although it was empty, I could tell that even with a crowd, it's generally a clean space. Also there's more than enough parking on the street. I've eaten at Saigon several times, both with my family and at work lunches and it is always a hit. The food is delicious and always extremely fresh. The family ate at the restaurant one Saturday night and it did take a little while to get our food because the place is small-ish and does a significant take-out business. But the food was so good that it more than made up for the wait. After eating here, my daughter asked me to make Vietnamese food at home, but I couldn't come close to replicating what Saigon does! I tried Saigon for the first time yesterday. It's not that I wasn't aware of its existence. Oh no. I've skipped over Saigon in the past because, and I know this is an unpopular opinion, Vietnamese just isn't my favorite. I can go for a good curry or scallion pancake any day but even when I visited Vietnam...well...let me put it this way: I was ready for some nachos before I even left. Anyways, I digress. On this particular day, I was craving noodley and brothy and is there anything that fits that description more exquisitely than pho? Let's talk about the menu. They have a bunch of summer and spring rolls (but no autumn or winter rolls to speak of) with wings and fried wontons and tofu summer rolls for vegetarians. I don't know what possessed me in that moment but we actually ordered fries. At a vietnamese restaurant. It was for research purposes. They, as you should expect, have a banh mi menu which did include a tofu option and I was enticed by this but ultimately decided against it. Soups. They have beef noodle soups, chicken noodle soups, and specialty soups with wontons and seafood and shit. They also have vegetable noodle soup in their vegan menu. Tina ordered their beef meatball pho. They also have wok noodles, we ordered udon. They have fried rice, we ordered tofu fried rice. They have house specials with curries and clay pots. The best thing about this place is that they have a VEGAN MENU! I ordered the oriental stir fried tofu for some extra veggies in my belly. Oriental stir-fried tofu: only negative thing I have to say about this is the portion size was strangely scant. It was a few shaved carrot slices, a few broccoli sprigs, and cabbage with a handful of tofu strips. There was copious sauce that wasn't good enough for me to utilize to flavor the extra rice. This was decent. Udon stir-fried wok noodles: tasted eerily similar to the oriental stir fried tofu as a matter of fact but this was pretty good. It was essentially the exact same thing as the stir-fried tofu but with noodles. I love a nice, thick, udon noodle. This, also, could have had a larger portion size. However, given the pricing of $9, it's a good deal. Tofu veggie fried rice: DELICIOUS. The rice was seasoned deliciously. Again, aggressive rice in proportion to the vegetables or tofu, but either way, I would recommend ordering one of their fried rice dishes. Pho: very good. I had to fish in order to avoid the meatballs bobbing around but they provide a fuckton of noodles and the broth has an incredible flavor. I would definitely order the vegetarian version of this for myself next time. Not much in the way of appetizers for us vegetarians but I'm curious to try the tofu summer rolls. If you like vietnamese food, saigon is a great option in central mass. read more

Saigon is a great place to get some affordable Vietnamese food if you're in the area around Clark University. We got the shredded tofu summer rolls that were super refreshing but filling, and delicious with the side of their peanut sauce and the spicy chilli sauce. My friends got the Beef vermicelli bowl and the Bannh Mhi which were both fantastic as well! I've been going to Saigon since I was a kid. I've enjoyed seeing their evolution since then. The pho has never disappointed. This is what's considered a "hole in the wall" place but the food is authentic, affordable and delicious. Service is usually pretty consistent. I stumbled upon this place and am glad that I did. I tried the Saigon special rice plate and it was delicious. It has plenty of food for the price, complete with beef, shrimp, pork and a spring roll. You certainly won't leave hungry. If you are thirst, try the fresh limeade. It was equally wonderful. The only reason I give it 4 stars was because of the atmosphere and confusion on process. The staff were fairly attentive and certainly friendly. The customers however were quite loud. One person was listening to a sporting event on their phone or something behind me and it was very disturbing. It was also confusing how to handle orders and checkout. The waitress greeted me and took drink orders but didn't explain the menu was via QR code until I started to try and order following her bringing my drink. Checking out was also a bit confusing as to whether they took it at the table or at the register. I eventually had to ask for clarity. Tiny place, but with the freshest and best tasting food, the staff REALLY cares, you can tell everything was made fresh when ordered, and the flavor was so damn good! The shrimp and pork summer rolls you can tell were made to order, the seafood soup had an unbelievable (homemade) stock, Signature vermicelli bowl had everything and was so good, but for me, the clay pot dish with pork and grilled shrimp was da bomb! Absolutely amazing food. Super good Vietnamese food! The bubble Thai tea was very sweet and the boba was fun to chew. The iced coffee was also some of the best we've had, it's pretty sweet, but it's good. The spring rolls were wrapped perfectly and the sauce that went with it was some of the best I've had. We also got a bahn mi sandwich which was very tasty. The savory flavors of the meat with the vinegary pickled vegetables paired amazingly well. We also got some pho which had good broth. I was extremely excited for the good reviews at this restaurant, however, given that my chicken was undercooked, I couldn't give anything above 3 stars. I ordered the stir fried udon with chicken but when I took my first bite into the chicken, it was not fully cooked. I tried another piece, then another and they were all the same. I also ordered a side of fried chicken with ginger soy, which was very good and well-cooked. I was just a little sad the chicken in my udon wasn't cooked, but don't worry I didn't eat it. I tried to tell the hostess but I'm not sure she understood what I was saying so I just took it home and recooked the chicken. The service is very good there though! Great little storefront location near Clark, compact and comfortable dining area. We were only the 2nd group of diners in the restaurant. Our order was taken in a timely fashion and we waited for our food. I ordered Satay Stir-Fried with Chicken and Wife ordered Crazy Noodle with Beef. A bit longer than expected but still well within reason, my dish came from the kitchen. I waited to eat until The Wife's dish was served. It was a good 5-10 minutes until the 2nd dish was delivered and we started to eat. No sauces, chopsticks, side plates or any accessories were offered. We each received a fork, a spoon and three napkins between us. (In full disclosure --- the number of napkins aren't normally a big deal, but, in this case, my dish was served in a very hot pan on which I, of course, burned myself, spilling sauce on the table and using up my only napkin! So totally my own doing but still, a couple extra napkins would have been nice!). So after cleaning up the mess as best I could with my single napkin, we enjoyed the rest of the meal. At that point, it just became a matter of someone noticing we were done, getting us a check, getting us a box, and letting us pay and head out! Summary: Order delivery, check your receipt, eat and enjoy. 1. Food was really, really good 2. Service definitely needs improvement - there were more UberEats and Grubhub drivers waiting in the restaurant than actual diners. So, are you a dine or take out only restaurant? 3. While it was only $1 difference, it bothers me that the price on the menu was different than what was charged. I get that there are typically price differentials between lunch and dinner entrees. No where in the menu did I see this and given that we were eating lunch, that is typically the least expensive of the two options. But now since the prices are the same like all other Vietnamese restaurants, it's hard to want to come back when you still feel hungry after. During my last year of school at Clark, which is very conveniently close to Saigon and less than 2 min walk from my off campus apartment, I could not count how many times I went to Saigon. Since leaving Worcester I have been on a constant search for Pho just as good as it is at Saigon and have yet to find one that can compare. I think this restaurant is good depending on what you order. She got the Saigon Combination Noodle Soup, which she said was delicious and very tasteful. I got the Traditional Combo Rice Plate, which was okay but just not my taste. Saigon restaurant is close to my house, in Grafton, MA. Dining room: The dining room is just the right size, its able to accommodate approximately 25 people. The decor is nice and temperature feels great, even in the winter. Wait Staff: The waiter/waitress are very friendly and kind. They are very quick in serving the food. From sitting down to getting the food was less than 15 minutes. Food: I usually get the Pho Special, or the traditional pho. Both are delicious, especially in the winter months. The pork and shrimp spring rolls and the Bon Mis. All are very fresh, delicious and the food was excellent!. I am so sad. Based on a recommendation of a friend, I expected this place to be amazing. And maybe it was, when she went to Clark years ago. It was empty on a Saturday night, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, since that means no wait. We were sat and after waiting a bit were brought tea. We ordered Pho Ga (Chicken Noodle) and Lemongrass and Chili Chicken to share. It took a while for the soup to come on and it was bland and flavorless. The chicken was dry but the ingredients on the side (basil, etc) were fresh. Even after I doctored with with Hoisin and Sri Racha it was still mediocre at best. Pho should have a rich delicious full bodied broth.. this was clear and practically water. The Lemongrass chicken dish was flavorful but salty and it tasted absolutely nothing like lemongrass. It really tasted a bit like American Chinese Schezuan. At the end of our meal it took us quite some time to get someone to get our check even though I made eye contact more than once with one of the two gentleman who was working. Maybe he wasn't our server, but it was clear were were looking for help. One really good thing. The lemonade was lemon-limey and it was freshly made and refreshing. It was like delicious frosting on a cardboard cake. When we finally left they did should thank you several times after us, but I'm sure if this was general courtesy or because they noticed the "You've Been Yelped" card I slipped under the credit card receipt.
