Went in for a quick bite and was not disappointed. Service was quick and very straightforward, easy to manage. I got the dac biet, which was a solid choice. Nothing super mindblowing but it's satisfying and gets the job done. The avocado smoothie I got was very refreshing and tasty, so I was very pleased. In town for a wedding in Webster staying in a hotel nearby. Strolling around and stumbled on a Vietnamese grocery which instantly made me search for a Vietnamese restaurant cause whenever you see a specialty ethnic grocer you can count on a high population of that minority living in the immediate area. Boy did I hit the jackpot.... I grew up in Sydney, Australia, where specialty asian food is leap years ahead of what is found here in the US (regardless of what city). I go back and visit once a year and make my pilgrimage to all the Pho and Banh mi joints to get my Viet fix. Also been to Hanoi and Saigon for food holidays, I'm obsessed. The bar is high. The Pho here is legit, perhaps even the best I've had stateside. They literally ONLY sell pho. I've actually never seen that before, and I respect them for it cause it's clear they've committed to making sure they don't half ass the broth. When I first got here and looked at the menu, what was pretty cool is that the pho comes with beef balls, which is not usually standard to be included, so that was pretty cool. Got the xtra large bowl which was pretty big but not huge. The broth is tasty and flavorful, and also pretty clean-tasting without taking away the salt and fat which are the good parts, so that is pretty nice too. The definition of a hole in the wall type of place. Hien-Vuong is a small restaurant with a couple of tables that basically only serves pho and other soup noodle dishes. Their pho is very good, but the broth is a bit oily for me. Good flavor and it feels like the type of broth that has some real history and authenticity behind it. We also tried the bbq pork egg noodle in soup, which had a different likely chicken based broth. The broth for that was much lighter, and I think it's a good change of pace. I'm usually very picky when it comes to Pho...we happened to stumble upon this place on Yelp and I was hesitant to try. Normally I stick to my usual spots but since I'm from Providence, I had no choice. I will say that I'll actually take a trip back here just for their pho. They're very generous with their portions. I got the pho dac biet with extra tendon...MmMmm. I tasted my son's wonton soup with egg noodles that came with slices of roast pork and that was very tasty as well! The seasoning is traditional, and it attracts me to drink a bit more than usual. The noodles were a undercooked so they were a bit hard. The rare steak...wasn't rare and tasted grainy, the flank as well. The brisket tasted alright, but isn't any different from other restaurants. Sadly compared to a chain restaurant its quality is lacking. I wouldn't recommend this place to eat at if you're in search of great pho. Hien Vuong is a humble Pho shop on Green street. The last time I ate here was almost a decade ago. I was in town, so wanted to revisit the establishment where I had Pho for the first time. Ordered a small bowl of the #1 Xe-Lua. The large plate of herbs is excellent as not all Pho shops give customers such a generous amount. Bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime are expected, but the culantro was much appreciated since it is not something I see very often. The broth has a very low fat content. Salty, with an herbal nuance, no anise flavor. This is a simple broth, on the bland side to be honest. Pressing down on the beef unleashed a savory flavor into the broth. You're going to want to add in some hoisin and sriracha and lime for additional complexity. Meatballs are rubbery, but in a good way and have a slight allium naunce. Beef is a sirloin/roast beef cut. It seemed to be medium rare, and has a roast beef flavor which pairs well with sriracha. Unfortunately, I found the noodles slightly overcooked and seemed to lack both the density and ever slight chew I'm looking for. As a whole, the Pho is a satisfactory experience. Hot broth, noodles, herbs, hot sauce and beef. It is comforting and hits the spot. read more

On a nice Sunday we decided to go for a bowl of pho, 2 bowls comes out everything looks ok and we start eating, towards the middle of our meal we happen to find a used toothpick in one of the bowl of pho's we ordered. Server comes by, looks at it and walks away, another server comes by and apologized for the situation and offered a replacement but at this point we were grossed out and asked for the bill. They try to charge us for the full amount, after speaking with the owner he took off 5 bucks as a discount and his attitude was not pleasant as if It's a take it or leave it deal. A friend and I went to this pho shop after snowboarding to warm ourselves up from the cold. We walked in on a Thursday evening around 5 pm and the place had a few tables filled. We walked in and sat ourselves down and menus were given to us promptly. The staff unfortunately didn't speak much English however I know enough Vietnamese to get by, so with the combination of my Vietnamese and their English we managed. We ordered two pho dac biet, my friend wanted chicken but they surprisingly only have beef options and no real other meat selections. The broth's extremely traditional, the bowl portions were more than reasonable for the price. I have to say that they have one of the best pho broths I've had in Worcester. Regardless, it was delicious and did not require any Hoison or Sriracha. Keep in mind though, for those unfamiliar, Pho comes with Cilantro so if you don't like Cilantro, asked for it without. Went with my wife, early afternoon on a weekday. Only one other patron were there - the waitress came right over. Honestly this is only the 2nd time I've ever had Pho, but I was very pleased with my soup, as was the wife with hers. I do intermittent fasting and even though I had nothing to eat that day since waking up AND even though I had just got done with a nice 1.5 hour weight training workout at the gym, that huge bowl of Pho left me very pleasantly full. Minimal meat, mediocre soup and stealing cashier. So I went to this place with six other friends today the pho was okay with very little steak and beef balls ( that is for a large bowl ) . We finished our meal and went to the cashier old man to pay and the cashier charged $11 for a $9 bowl, $4.5 for a $3.5 drink and he even added his own non-calculated 1 dollar tax to it.
