The least amount of meat in a large pho I have ever experienced. I have eaten in hundreds of pho places in my travels. There is a regular crowd. If you are not part of this crowd, you are treated that way. They definitely don't need your patronage is the attitude, even after a friendly greeting from me. I wonder how this restaurant can stay in business. I have had Pho in over thirty different restaurants all across the United States. These folks have by far the WORST Pho I have ever tasted. Traditional VIetnamese Pho is all about "Nuance". It is a subtle blend of flavors and and spices. A Pho Restaurant's whole reputation is directly related to the quality of its basic soup stock. The soup stick here is dreadful. It tastes like it is made from bargain quality chicken bullion cubes which have had far too much water added. The basic soup was flavorless and lacking in any spices. My "Combination" Pho was a disgusting mess of really bad "parts". The chef seems to favor large blocks of slightly boiled beef liver. There also appeared to be some sort or partial animal foot (pig? sheep?) and other odd bits which I could not identify. They added nothing in terms of flavor. But, an hour later, I was still trying to get the teaste of undercooked liver out of my mouth. I know what authentic Pho should taste like - the "chef" here has no clue what it should taste like. The service here, if you can call it that, is indifferent. There were half a dozen staff and an equal number of diners when I ate there.... and the service was slow slow slow. read more

I use to go here all the time for noodles and their rice plates. There pho is very flavorful and still is. I'm giving them two stars because of the pho and their location; however I won't be going back ever again... Talk about rude customer service! First horrible experience: Took my sister there for lunch a few months ago and the place was packed. We waited patiently for a table (no problem) but after being seated, we were asked to move to a smaller table so they can accommodate a group of ladies! Are you serious! We waited, why can't they? To top it off, the server brought us our meal but didn't bring plates and silver ware. He brought it over 20 mins later after the food got cold. I ordered an ice coffee and didn't get it until we were done eating. I stopped going there for 6 months or so... Stopped there last month and ordered a pho to go. Customer service was okay. It was the older man who took my order and not the young guy that's usually there (he was the server). Second horrible experience: Sunday morning went there to pick up pho and the young guy was completely rude as usual. Normally I pay with a card and not cash and apparently now you have to spend $15 to pay with a card. I didn't know that! He asked for cash rudely and pointed to a stupid sign taped on the register. Always dealt with the poor customer service because this place is close to home and the kids like the food, however, this time was the last I will give them my business. We ordered BBQ pork and a few shreds of cold pork on a plate. He said when I asked what it was "oh we don't have BBQ pork, only grilled pork" Later we asked for 2 egg rolls to go, 10 minutes later we had 2 orders of 5 egg rolls each. I asked him what happened we ordered 2 egg rolls and the workers response was "we don't have 2 egg rolls, you asked for 2 orders!" I told him we asked for 2 and he began to argue. My Husband was craving Pho on this raining day in the Mo. He asked one of his friend where the best Pho was. He said Saigon, now my Yelpie Friend Dia comes here a lot and I've been wanting to try it. So we packed the car with our littles and head down the road. Also got some spring rolls. Our spring rolls came first and I dived in, they were super yummy. Then came our Pho, and our daughters food. OMG! The Pho was so good, I got the chicken noodle soup, size medium. It was big! I was a little bummed there wasn't much chicken but the broth was amazeballs! So delish! My daughter really liked her broccoli and chicken. It wasn't until the end of the meal that she realized she had asked for soup and didn't get it. LOL So she had some sips of mine before we left and liked it. So next time we come back we will get her, her own. I really don't care about the customer service here, it's a different culture than mine so maybe that's just how they do customer service. As long as your food is amazing and on point, I'll keep coming back.I think I would feel differently if it was a chain restaurant and knew they were trained before starting to work with the public. I was very skeptical at first in coming here. I wasn't happy with the Vietnamese Noodle choices in Modesto, There was always something wrong with the shop that I visited -- lousy proportions, rude waitresses, or a dirty environment. My first visit was with my girlfriend and mother in law. We are of Vietnamese decent, so our expectations of Pho are really, really high. In fact, its so high, that it would almost never merit me logging in for a Yelp review. I mean think about it, we're Vietnamese, if we really wanted to, WE can make our own dang Pho. Are we going to? of coarse not, we're American, and damn proud (mainly lazy). So we rely on restaurants like this one to cook us a batch to feel that nice warm familiar feeling we all crave from time to time. The decor of the restaurant is fine, they didn't visit the dollar store (which is two stores down) to get their decorations, nor do they get in the way of eating and scream in your face. There is a large LCD TV overlooking the entire restaurant, and the bathrooms are on par as well. Service here has never been an issue, (third visit). I've always seen a well dressed gentlemen along with a girl in her 20's working the floor. I do get greeted and thanked when i come and go, and the food hasn't taken more than 5-10 min to reach me. The broth of the Pho is above par (esp or Modesto), As well as all of the ingredients that make good Pho. I'm not a fan of meatballs, so I'd be too biased if I downgraded the noodles because of them, but the beef along with the stomach intestine tasted very good. Condiments for Pho include hoistin and saracha, but what threw me away off the chair into heaven was when i found that they include Garlic Chili Oil also. If you ever go to this shop or any other noodle shop you'll see a small container usually with a spoon in it filled with this ground chili drenched in red oil. That's what I'm talking about. It's used to obviously spice things up a bit works great in Pho or Bun Bo Hue, and they have it! Not to many places have it, only this place and Noodle palace on mcHenry ( i have a review for them if your interested) What really makes this shine though is the time it closes. I work an 11am-8pm shift, so you can imagine how hard it i to find time to sit down and eat. I left work around 8, and saw they didn't close till 9. It's really nice to be able to have a nice bowl after a long and stressful day at work. It is hard to find a Vietnamese restaurant of this caliber to be open later than usual. In short, There are not that many places that will earn my 5 star rating. I have yet to have a bad experience from this place. Did they just earn themselves a new regular? Well yes they did. I only come here every now and then if my friends or family want me to go. I like the food, but I dislike the attitude and service of the employees. Also, for the past few times I have been here, the portions have been extremely stingy. I always feel a but rushed when I am ordering. They never check up to see if the customers need more water, nor do they ever ask if they like the food. At the cash register, I noticed that my order needed to be at least $15 in order to pay with a card. I asked the cashier why that was so. The WORST service I have ever experienced! It was our first time attempting to try this restaurant and we will never go back. We were told to "sit there" given water and our menus and then asked what we wanted-we hadn't opened the menu yet. In about another minute the server came and asked again, "you ready?" We asked if we could have a little more time, especially being our first time, and then he came back in less than a minute again and asked, "what do you want?" With how rude his customer service was we decided it was not worth even asking for more time since he was rushing us. Not my first choice for pho but they're open later than our regular place and rank second in our list of pho places. The pho is great but the service brings the entire experience down. The younger server (usually in a white shirt and vest) is helpful although not always as attentive as we'd like. The other men occasionally serve but spend the majority of their time making us feel unwelcome from the moment we walk in. They always seem annoyed when you say you're not getting an order to go, wander by your table never refilling drinks or even checking if you need anything and stare at you as if trying to make you hurry up. We've actually taken the rest of our meal home because they made us so uncomfortable. Not sure if the pho is good enough to deal with that again. read more

I just came from this place and I just literally got off the toilet. I had the seafood noodle that gave me a bad stomach ache. I ordered hot tea and didn't get it til my food came. I also ordered food to go for my wife who couldn't join us. I told our waiter that I wanted it by the time we were done with our meal. He forgot all about it so we ended up waiting for it also. So delicious and fresh, this spot seems a bit tastier than the other Pho restaurants in town. We don't order very far off the big items (spring rolls & vegetable pho) but it's in those items that we can really measure this spot compared to others. I first came here about 3 months ago, although I have only eaten here twice, i really like the place. I believe the people who work here used to work at pho bac noodle palace, they also practically have the same entire menu as noodle palace. So what makes this place better? Well, it's a lot cleaner, the people who work here are a lot nicer, hospitable and attentive. The food is really good, the good old #1 pho dac biet (every pho joint) is good although i don't taste much of a difference from noodle palace's. One of my favorite condiments at any pho or noodle restaurant is the chili garlic oil (which they also have at noodle palace) so that's a definite win in my book. I think this place is doing fine and i hope they keep it up. This place is located in an area of town where I don't think much of the residents of this demographic may know too much about vietnamese cuisine so it's a good start (despite the fact that they have a lot of chinese inspired dishes on the menu). My buddy lives close to this place, so when I am in town visiting him, I think this may be my new go to quick stop pho shop. Good Bye noodle palace. read more

My husband and I ate here and it was just okay. We tried some new things, and I don't think they were "our" type of things. TWe tried the Pho, which I hated. We also had lemongrass chicken, which was the only thing I enjoyed, but my husband did not. We also had an order of chow fun, which lacked any kind of flavor. The best thing about this place is that it has boba (tapioca balls) with Thai Iced Tea. The service however, was wonderful.
