We were craving pho and passing through Monroe. The reviews looked good, so we decided to give this place a try. The restaurant itself is small but spotless and clean. * Spring rolls were huge. The lettuce ratio wasn't super high but still good enough. 4/5 * Pork bánh mì was delicious. 5/5 * Pho had depth and flavor. Something about it tasted slightly off to me, but it still satisfied my craving. 4/5 * Prices were reasonable: the bánh mì was under $10 and the large pho was under $15. It was the service that really threw us off. We don't expect much service at pho places, but this was odd enough that it's worth mentioning. There were two young staff members working who clearly seemed like they didn't want to be there and almost didn't want people coming in. The guy brought us utensils and pho garnishes but no water. At least he had a smile. The girl, on the other hand, had this very guarded, "ready to fight" expression. When I went up to ask for a box, they both froze and looked at me like I was asking for the world. She didn't smile and barely made eye contact. When it was time to pay, we weren't sure what to do so we just went up to the front. She didn't look at us once, and there was no "thank you" or "have a good day." Great price and a great portion size (compared to Seattle at least). The soup flavor and noodle texture was good, but IMO beef quality could have been better. We live closer to Seattle around a lot of Vietnamese restaurants and I have to say this spot is better than most of the spots we go to. We ordered the lemongrass beef vermicelli, a pork banh mi and a beef banh mi. The vermicelli has the best beef we've ever had. We ordered to go and could've used more fish sauce but it was still 10/10. The banh mi didn't have pate and is a bit more Americanized but I'd definitely order again. This is a nice stop before heading to hikes in the gold bar area. I gave a 3 because the service yesterday was horrible. We went at 6pm and the young lady who took our order didn't even look at us or say hi when we greeted her or thanked her. She was looking at herself staring at her phone. It was the most awkward experience. We asked a simple question about the vermicelli and she gave a rude response and her tone was so uninviting. We were passing by and stopped here for dinner. There weren't many people there when we came. We ordered the spring rolls, short ribs with rice with a side bowl of soup and a vermicelli with pork. The flavors were okay, it didn't taste as authentic as other places I've been to. We asked for a small side of soup with the rice but the waitress had the lady in the kitchen bring out a small bowl which cost almost $4 extra for the plain broth. The peanut sauce in the spring roll was too overwhelming. I ordered the vermicelli with pork and it had tons of veggies. It wasn't as flavorful as I would expect. The short ribs marinade was okay, but too much sesame oil which kinda take away from the taste. read more

Amazing place for the small town I live in Everett and we do have one of the best falls around there, which is basil and Laday but I would say this little place is not too far from the quality really good quality broth good chunks of meat even though not that big of a portions but you don't need that much. This is my first time eating at Saigon Pho and Grill today and I have to say the service was phenomenal. The waiter who goes by the name Perla was very kind and welcomed me with a smile which Is something you don't see too often not to mention the service was amazing. The food was delicious, it damn near brought a tear to my eyes and not to mention the atmosphere that surrounded the restaurant, not only did it feel welcoming but it made me feel like I was a child again eating my first Vietnamese sandwich in Rainier Seattle. 10/10 Recommend, if you see Perla sure to tell her Jose said hello. read more

Finished a hike nearby and was craving some hot soup! Found this place had great reviews and prices. The lady who helped me was extremely helpful and hospitable! The food we ordered was finished in 10min so we picked up and went to a nearby park to eat outside. Unfortunately the food was cold and the soup was luke warm. I ordered the special combo pho which includes raw meat, so it definitely didn't cook in the broth. I'm sure everything will taste fine once we find a microwave, but that'll have to be for another meal :(. Would be 5 stars if the food was hot. read more

Okay, I've been negligent in my reviews of late because I've been traveling. I've been especially negligent about some of my North Sound reviews, so I'm going to force myself to sit down and catch up. Today we'll start with this tiny pho joint stuck in the middle of what arguably is the dingiest strip mall that Monroe, WA has to offer. If it were not for the great Coastal store, this place would have been turned into another of Bill Gate's property monstrosities with six stories of vacant apartments and overpriced stores lining the ground floor. This place sits easily 40 people, and when I went in for a late lunch it was DEAD. A nice young girl, who seemed more interested in her phone than in her customers, took my order. The food came out quickly, and I was both surprised and pleased by both the quality and the quantity. Start with the pho - I ordered "regular" and got a "small" bowl (for those uninitiated, pho comes in standard sizes - mostly. The meat was plentiful but not ridiculous. There were more noodles than the bowl needed, and they were "cheap" (AKA they fell apart as I progressed through the bowl). But it tasted good so no complaints. I also had Vietnamese coffee. If you've never had Vietnamese coffee, you're missing one of life's great pleasures. This coffee was made perfectly, and I drank it all the way to the bottom and then sucked on the ice for good measure (you're supposed to do that if you're in Vietnam cuz - HOT). I had what they call "fried rolls" which is Vietnamese egg rolls (the deep fried rolls, not the rice paper ones with the shrimp). They were a little over cooked, but the size - Ron Jeremy would blanche. Definitely worth the $5 for the two of them. Overall, a good if not great experience. I definitely would put this as a landmarks is you're blasting east on Highway 2 towards Chelan, or if you've just made it over the pass and can use some nice warm food. read more

Thought I'd try the place since the only other Pho place here only does soup. Had dirty tables when I entered. Just one customer so not sure why it was that way. Ordered the grilled lemongrass chicken with rice and iced tea. Iced tea was mostly ice. Not a good idea. Chicken was not grilled at all - seemed reheated and it was in thin shreds - nothing like most Pho places do with grilled chicken. Lots of onions - did I mention lots of onions ? Rice was dry and Luke warm. I asked the waitperson if they gave me what I ordered and she said yes. I mentioned usually it isn't presented in this way and she said well at least I don't have to cut the chicken. Way way way more rice than chicken. I was hoping for better based on some of the reviews but no. I would not recommend this place - poor value and doesn't seem to be standard except their soup. read more

Really great food . A little more spendy than some of the other restaurants similar in the area but the quality of food and service makes up for that. I hate sitting down to eat anywhere not with a little baby but they make you feel at ease and it's NOT CROWDED. I truly hate feeling like tables are stacked right on top of each other and you're unable to walk with a carrier in between to your seat. read more

I rarely give out 5 star ratings, but they may get an updated one after we have tried them a few times :) I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place (finally) in Monroe bc we head up to Stevens Pass every other weekend for skiing and this mama can only cook and pack so many meals for every trip Anyways, the food that we ordered togo were superb and this is a legit Vietnamese restaurant with Vietnamese cooks in the kitchen This is very rare to find these days. The space had about about 10-12 tables and spaced out well. Lunch time can get pretty busy, but it's worth the wait! We ordered togo over the phone and stopped by to pick it up on the way up to the mountains. Make sure you ask for utensils and napkins if you're eating on the go! What we ordered: -egg rolls: delicious, crispy & filled with traditional ingredients including pork, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, glass vermicelli noodles. Some Viet folks like to add taro to their egg rolls & this restaurant happens to do so as well. We were very pleasantly pleased. 10/10 -grilled pork vermicelli bowl: the meat was well seasoned and the fish sauce was blended just right. This dish comes with vermicelli rice noodles, shredded iceberg lettuce (not traditional, but worked very nicely), cucumbers, pickled daikon radish & carrots. 10/10 recommend -broccoli stir fry with chicken: I loved the type of rice they used - it's so fluffy! This dish came with chicken, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Smelled fantastic & the kids loved it (didn't get a chance to taste it, but I'm sure it was yum). -kids meal chicken chow mein: this was a small portion of stir fried noodles with just chicken. Next time I will order the regular size so that maybe it'll come with veggies, too. Tasted fine, nothing special. Will order the regular size next time. -crispy tofu appetizer: I love all kinds of tofu (except stinky tofu IYKYK lol), but this one wasn't really crunchy. That's okay bc I added it to the vermicelli bowl & it was a great addition. Overall, we will definitely come back to try the other items on the menu. I'm so happy we found a legitimate Viet restaurant we can swing by to grab food whenever we head up to Stevens or down on the way home. Definitely recommend giving them a try!! read more

About 15 minutes she came and got our order and then I asked for water (getting her attention was hard) she then rolled her eyes and got water but half filled cups. Went here after work with a coworker. I don't normally see good Viet cuisine in cities like Monroe, but I took a chance and my coworker was up to try it. This place reminded me of a lot of pho places I went to growing up until now. It's comfort food in a very straight forward eatery. No frills with the ambiance, just a decently clean place to grab some Viet food. My coworker ordered the lemongrass chicken plate with rice and a side of veggies while I had a bowl of the special pho (P1). Within minutes my coworker got his food. He was amazed at how fast it came out. Seconds after he got his food I got mine. The large pho was a good value for the volume. My go-to place would have charged $15 while this place was slightly less. I would definitely go here again if I'm craving some Viet food after work. read more

Just picked up two chicken pho and fresh rolls for lunch. Rolls were split open and tasted stale. One couldn't even be eaten it was so fallen apart. Even worse the pho broth was lukewarm at best, like just from the place and your broth is cold? If I have to microwave supposedly fresh soup what's the point? The chicken itself is suspect just giant big slices like it came off a deli slicer. $40 of a wasted lunch. read more

Yum! It's nice to finally see a decent pho place in Monroe. This is a fairly nondescript exterior in a shopping center that has an almost abandoned feel to it. It's worth finding. The interior is nicely decorated (and pretty typical for a pho joint) and clean. The pho is very good. Is it the best I've ever had? No. Thus the four stars instead of five. But it's up there in the top dozen or so places, and remember where this is. Broth is flavorful and balanced. No one spice overpowers everything. The only issue I had with my bowl of brisket, tendon, and meatballs was the density of the meatballs. These are very dense. They're good, but their super dense nature makes them a little less appealing. The brisket was superb. Some of the best I have ever had, and the tendons were good and relatively plentiful. We'll be back for sure. Need to try a few other dishes and some more of that delicious pho. read more

We go through Monroe on the way to one of our favorite places and sometimes we need food! Instead of chains and fast food we try to search out the small, BIPOC-owned places and today we tried this place! It is unprepossessing on the outside but, based on other good reviews, we were pretty sure it was a good bet! The counter person was brisk and professional and the place was spotless! And it was ready in less than 10 minutes! It was a great bet! For $20 + tip we had a beef and a tofu banh mi and an order of fresh spring rolls with shrimp... The first bite of a sandwich tells you a lot. When I bit into the baguette it was the perfect combo of crunch, shatter, and chew. My partner-in-dine took a bite and said, "Great bread." High praise from a curmudgeon! After that a little sweetness from the tofu, crunch of carrot, radish, and the tang of cilantro. The beef was nicely seasoned and tender and also perfect with the veggies. 10/10 for this sandwich from the curmudgeon! Wrapped in parchment these sandwiches were relatively tidy in the car aside from a few bread crumbs. This may well be a new tradition especially as I suspect the pair of shrimp spring rolls in the 'fridge will make an excellent midnight snack! read more

I'll still drive a ways to find a good pho spot, and I still love discovering new highly-rated ones. These guys are far enough out of town that they don't have much competition for the pho dollar within a 30-minutes drive, and hardly any within a 20-minute drive. If I lived out here, I'd hit them up regularly, and if you're crawling through Monroe in mountain traffic and getting hungry, they will take care of you for a 1-time visit. This is about a 3.5-star review. Feel free to round it up a star in either case. It's a huge strip mall; the parking lot is literally well over an acre. At least a dozen businesses around it. Saigon appears to have used its little spot here to corner the market for Vietnamese food in Monroe. They certainly deserve their commanding position. You walk in to the usual dozen or so small 4-top tables, and you get the usual little paper pamphlet menu. Tons of apps, full page of pho, lots of vermicelli bowls, quite a few chow meins and other stir-fries. They give you quite a few choices. It's a pho place, but they know they can cultivate lots of regulars with the local families. In fact, we saw a steady stream of young parents getting to-go orders, and a couple groups of them dining in. I had to wait a few minutes to go pay 'cause there was always a line at the register. We ordered the Hawaiian chicken wings, which have the funky fish sauce you might expect in a lot of Thai or Viet dishes. Nice flavors, a bit of spicy heat. Tons of breading, which got a little tough on a couple bites because they cook it scalding hot--we had to wait five minutes to take bites, they were so hot (and they come out FAST even at those temps). The lemongrass shrimp vermicelli bowl came out with everything warm--all the noodles, all the ingredients served warm. Kind of a weird surprise for a vermicelli bowl, but the ingredients were fresh and the flavors were good. The steak and brisket pho did not seem like quite as big a portion as some places, but for heaven's sake that's the smarter dietary choice in my case. Condiments were in pretty good shape, plenty of flavor from the limes and peppers, and the sambal and hot sauces on the table were all good. The broth in the pho shows lots of star anise, as others have noted. Good clean broth, but not much complexity or depth of flavor aside from that anise note. The noodles were pretty good, though they got mushy before I could finish the bowl. That steak and brisket, though--wow, perfectly fresh, tons of beef flavor, a little bit seasoned maybe, just enough marbling showing. So good. Made it easy to chase every single bite out of the bowl. The price was fair for 2 entrees, an app, and a mug of tea--a little over $30. These guys do a great job, especially for their location (where pho competition is scarcer), and have made the smart choice to lighten up their seasoning profiles for local tastes. This place would have a hard time standing out in town, but they definitely know what they're doing. I'm sure their menu and recipes would just adapt and they would get high scores in town by changing their approach. If I'm out this way looking for food again, I'd come back. read more

Had to update my review. The meatball pho is still good but the meatball portion is now half of what I normally get. Had a large and I am still hungry. The quality is still good for pho. Condiments are fresh. There is no pic for the current order. I counted seven pieces of meatball.. On a recent visit, the beef was no longer tender on my hubby's rock and roll beef like it used to be. In the past, the old owner said they only get beef tenderloin and it was always very tender like filet mignon. The meat now is not very tender and fibrous it's obvious it's sirloin or lower grade quality beef. The quality has definitely gone down. Not my number one pho place. Family pho and banh mi in Snohomish is my fav now. read more

This place was very clean. The owners were really nice. My daughter was hungry and when she saw the food she was so excited and the owner was excited for her too. The food overall was great. My husband and I got pho and the broth was delicious and my daughter got chicken chow mein and it was pretty good too. I also got the fried calamari and it was also delicious. We had to stop by this place before we went out to go somewhere because we were hungry and although this place is 30 minutes away from where we live, Whenever we go back into that town will definitely go back and eat there. I recommend! Also, their Vietnamese coffee was BOMB! I was wondering why it was taking them so long to get a coffee ready but as they gave the coffee to my husband they apologized and said that they were making it fresh. There is an abundance of Pho options in the area, so you don't have to go far to find the warm, fragrant satisfying noodley soup around here. But with so many options one tends to become pretty picky. I'm picky to begin with, so there's that. But oh man - was I happy when we found this place. It's tucked in between a vape shop and a dollar store, but don't let the limited shopping options in the neighborhood deter you. It's newish too, but again - don't let that stop you. The first thing to hit you is the smell. It's inviting and exciting! The service is quick and friendly. The menu has all the options you'd expect, including non-Pho items like fried rice dishes and cold noodle options. So far we've had the beef, meatball, seafood and tofu pho. As well as the spring rolls (because spring rolls). My favorite is the meatball. They're delicious and filling. Not too fatty but perfectly meaty. The broth is gorgeous and so good I try to consume every drop...even when super full. I just can't stop. Today seems like a perfect day for another bowl...off I go! read more

My wife and I decided to try this place after numerous recommendations from friends. We ordered meatball Pho and chicken Pho, with a side of pot stickers. The Pho order was wrong, they missed chicken and made me a regular beef pho. The person taking orders didn't even seem bothered. After a 10 minute drive home, the app was still good and hot, quite tasty too. Both of the Pho broths were warm at best. After we warmed the broth and composed the soups, we enjoyed them.
