Saigon Cafe Too?? That's a new name and recently at that, same as their dive into very poor cuisine. The key to any such establishement is their broth for their Pho Soup, and this drastically changed over a year ago but we kept on trying since we've frequented this place for years and there no decent Asian restaurant in this Region, in spite of this being a "college town." They have stopped adequate preparation of Pho Soup and won't give the condiments that traditionally go with it. Limes must be their gold, and the usual real spring rolls are now lacking taste and mostly rice. UGH. On the last trip a female manager (owner?) literally went to a table and started to loudly argue with the customers who had only requested the correct order, which they did not receive. It's all 'self-serve' so they have little to complain about there. This arguing from her rose to a high pitch, at which point several of us left, but in truth instead of being packed at that hour 18 months ago, there were only 3 tables occupied; the rest appeared to be "family" members. We will never return but Lubbock certainly needs to do something about its lack of Asian cuisine. read more

Saigon Cafe has really good food, it is all made from good ingredients and the staff is friendly. I would go back and I really like the c11! They have tv's in the dining room and a variety of food on the menu. Overall its clean and in a decent location. read more

If I was stuck on an island and could only choose one food to eat -- it would be the spicy C10 with a side order of pork egg rolls. Saigons is a hidden gem in the city of Lubbock and that's what makes them so special. My college roommates and I make trips to Saigons multiple times a week and I never tire of the menu. Again, if I had to make one suggestion it would be to get the C10 spicy as the extra kick gives it the perfect blend of flavor and hear. The ladies who run the restaurant are among some of the nicest and most genuine. Definitely pay this place a visit! read more

I am from California, (bay area/san francisco) so granted this review is a bit unfair. I am spoiled with great authentic vietnamese food from all over the bay area. When I found out that there is a vietnamese place here in Lubbock while I am on a trip, I was naturally excited (sorry Lubbock, there is nothing to do here and honestly, the food sucks as well.) I was extremely confused when I walked into this place. I stood around with my girlfriend for about 5 minutes while two woman who apparently works there ignored us. I went up to the counter to ask if i am suppose to seat myself. Apparently we have to place our order at the front counter and pay for it before we can sit (I thought that was extremely unusual.) I ordered a Bun Bo Hue and a "regular" pho. Their selections are really limited. They even had a lot of things on their menu that I'm not used to seeing on menus back home. I'm guessing they made their menu to tailor to what the population in Lubbock wants. There is little diversity in Lubbock so given, there might not be a lot of folks here who like authentic foreign food. I was surprised that my Bun Bo Hue did not come with pork blood. How can you have an Authentic Bun Bo Hue but fail to add in a key authentic ingredient? Their "regular" pho tasted like there was a lot of MSG in the broth. Bun Bo Hue lacked major flavors. The bowl itself is suppose to be sweet, tangy, spicy and salty. I tasted none of the above. The "regular" pho tasted okay for the first few bites, after that... it was a waste of money (even though it was only $6.) I suppose for a "vietnamese" restaurant in an area where it is not diverse, this place is not bad, but I would never in a million years step foot in a place like this if this was back home. read more

Good food but if your use to going to Vietnamese restaurants, it is only OK. But also if your use to Vietnamese restaurants you are use to large serving sizes but this place gives you a small dish and you need to order an appetizer or a second entree if you are really hungry. read more

This place is hands down the worst Pho/experience that I have been apart of. Granted, I haven't been there since I Love Pho opened in Lubbock, but this place seriously has few redeeming qualities. My main beef with Saigon is that I had to ask for more Sriracha over 5x to acquire the amount sufficient for me and my girlfriend. They were rationing it as if it was the last Sriracha shipment they would ever receive. I don't expect expert service, especially from the teenage looking staff they employed at the time, but I do expect a waiter to pick up on basic things, like someone constantly coming to the counter for more sauce. Beyond that, the staff was non existent, I literally went without pho for months at a time, until i could return home to Dallas, simply because this place was such a negative experience all 4 times I went. If the pho was good i would put up with the wait staff, but alas, the pho was 3/10 at best. "I Love Pho" has better food, staff, and service. read more

I've have been eating at Saigon for years. It's not particularly special, but the options in Lubbock are limited. I ordered a C-11 tonight, but it was not up to the usual spec's. I started to dig into the noodles and noticed that the bowl was filled with iceberg lettuce with just enough noodles to cover the lettuce. In the past, this dish has always been a full bowl of noodles. I hope the owners enjoy the extra dollar they made by skimping on noodles (of all things!). However, in the end it will cost them far more than that because they've just lost a regular customer. read more
