had dinner with my family at Saigon Garden a few weeks ago and it was pretty good! i ordered hu tieu xao ga and it came out piping hot. i believe everyone's order came out fresh and hot which was so appreciated. my dish in particular was not too salty as asian food can tend to be but it was on the milder side for flavor, which i'm not mad at. i felt the prices and the portions were fair as well. the restaurant is pretty spacious, service wasn't too bad for having one person taking orders and im pretty sure one person cooking. i believe parking is shared with another store next door but i was able to get a spot easily. overall, i would come back to try more items! read more

Best pho I've found in Grand Rapids! Very fast service and lots of parking in the lot! The pho has so much flavor and is always such a generous portion! The broth is rich and comforting, and the ingredients always taste fresh. The ambiance is casual and welcoming, making it a great spot whether you're stopping in for a quick meal or sitting down to relax and enjoy your food. read more

3.5 stars - The food is good. I ordered the pho Bo vien - meatball and the banh mi thit ngoi. Both I would order again... But only if I'm in the area. The pho came out super hot and I love it on a cold day... I think for the GR area it was good. In other metro areas, this was probably just standard. The banh mi was good. I take into account this isn't a Vietnamese deli so I can't expect like the quality you would get from a dedicated banh mi spot. The only thing that would bring this to a 5 star rating was the experience... I felt like I was standing at the front entrance for awhile to be acknowledged. Other customers looked at me awkwardly. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to seat myself or keep waiting. - it may be a shortage of staff... The auntie and uncle also could have been alittle more friendlier. It was kind of like "are you ready to order" type of atmosphere. I was again waiting at the cash register for the check... I think they just seemed really tired and I caught them on an off day. There seemed to be alot of tables needing to be bussed too. Food was good, expectations for service lowered and you'll be fine. read more

Saigon garden never misses a beat. The parking is a breeze, and the service is always very speedy. Their menu has a lot of variety and the few times I've been, everything has been delicious and as described. The pho was top tier, as are all of their appetizers. The restaurant never looks that busy, but they clearly get enough business to stay around, THANKFULLY! Great place, yummy food, and nice employees! read more

This place has good Pho! Great portion and value! Service is quick and all the other Vietnamese dishes are good!

It was way better than we had expected! The broth was flavourful and the right amount of oily, and the crispy noodle sauce was the right balance between sweet and salty! It was sad to see that we were the only ones there at that time, but it also meant it was nice and quiet. If I'm being perfectly honest I actually prefer this place than to the other pho places around here. The people running it were super nice and the service was fast (again, probably because we were the only ones tho). Definitely a place we will continue to visit in the future so we can try all the other wonderful foods! read more

I think it is very odd to come into a family oriented authentic, immigrant run restaurant and expect American type service as there is a huge culture difference. Whenever you need something, just flag the waitress down and they get you what you are asking for promptly. It's just the norm and not a big deal since they are quick to bring you what you need. I have been a regular here since it first opened and come back every time I am in the area for supplies. Context for this place is important. In comparison to other restaurants around here, this place is great! The food is flavorful and herbaceous. The vegetables are always fresh and I have been to other restaurants in the surrounding area that were hit or miss with that. The food is filling and there is always a ton of meat. I never leave hungry and I honestly crave the bun bo hue regularly. There are always other Vietnamese people in the restaurant who are enjoying the food as well which tells me that this is THE VIET spot. The place isn't the most updated but I come here for the food. It is also always peaceful when I come in here and I've never heard anyone being too obnoxious or loud. I will always respect the owner and this restaurant especially after I brought my white mother in law in here. She struggles to drink tap water because of her health and I asked for an alternative to which he replied that he didn't offer it in his restaurant. He went to the back to grab my food and came back with something for her. He didn't charge me for it and told me to take care of her. I will always support this business for as long as it is open plus the food is as authentic as you can get in Grand Rapids and the owner is kind. Unlike other places, this place doesn't use sugar as a filler and the food is umami the way it should be. read more

I have visited Saigon Garden multiple times and have always had the best food! It is truly authentic and incredibly delicious. I have brought my friends and family who always leave full and cannot wait to go back to eat again! We recently got a bunch of food for our Super Bowl party (2025) and I have to say the food was a real hit! The service is always incredible and they are always so extremely sweet and friendly. The restaurant also always plays the most upbeat and beautiful music and the restaurant is incredibly spacious! read more

My go to place when I'm craving a hot bowl of viet soup. I like the bun bo hue here, though I prefer it with more shrimp paste and spice. The vermicelli bowl is fine; hard to go wrong with that. The egg rolls here are great. I don't care for the sweet chili sauce, but it's great with fish sauce (the kind served with vermicelli). Don't be shy to call attention to the server if you need anything. Asian restaurants tend to operate that way. They don't check on you; you just wave them over when you need something. read more

The food was good and the service was what I expected. The one thing i would say that during a hot hot day, i wish they had the AC turned on. Also, the table were not well prep with napkins and other condiments. Overall, i would go there again for the food. read more

The service and quick and polite. The pho brother tasted like home and really perfect for a cold day in Michigan. The large pho was $11.00, but it was a HUUUGE portion!!!! the gernerous portion and taste made it really worth it. I got a grilled pork rice plate with meat pie and an egg, but there wasn't a lot of meat to be honest. Usually rice plates have a lot of meat to balance out the rice. I also wanted to get a banh mi to-go, but the worker said they haven't had banh-mis for some time until they can find someone to make them. I would come here again just for the pho though! read more

I thought I had hit all of the pho spots in GR until a friend of mine told me about Saigon Garden. He wouldn't stop talking about how good the pho and House Fried Rice was so I had to stop by! The broth is the richest I've had in GR. The portion is perfect and the amount of cilantro is just right. The noodles were a /little/ too soft for me but nonetheless a delicious bowl of pho! Perfect for the cold weather. The House Fried Rice is flavorful as well. I was hoping to get a banh mi but they didn't have any bread when I was there. Service was friendly and quick. Come on........... Long hair in the spring rolls AND the com suon??? Do better Saigon Garden.

It was OK. One of the better pho places we've been to, but nothing amazing. Worth going to if you need pho and don't want to risk being too disappointed. Fried rice was pretty disappointing, especially for the price. It was rice with just a bit of egg (tiny bits of egg, not large enough to ever notice) and some pretty good beef mixed in. It was fine, but really not worth paying an entree price for. Go to a Chinese restaurant if that's what you're looking for. read more

Big place, but only 2 tables occupied including us. Food was good - a little too salty as all restaurants tend to do. No frills.

I would say this place has the most traditional tasting pho broth vs other places right in town. It's right up there with Pho 99. The coriander takes it up one. Only reason this isn't my go to is the service (which is inconsistent) and the broth. It's hit or miss. If they can figure out their consistency. This may be the best pho spot in town. read more

This spot is now my new go to for Vietnamese food. Great service, consistent quality, the food just tastes good.

Was just okay. I thought my pho noodles were over cooked but they gave a generous portion of meat. My husband got the vegetable fried rice and it was just okay. My sister got egg rolls and she said they were over cooked and burnt. My kids got the chicken pho and seemed to enjoy it. Overall, not bad. read more

All the ingredients were so fresh and tasty. The meat was so tender it melted it my mouth. Noodles were just the right level of chewy and I loved the sausage and the pork hog! Overall it was an awesome lunch option and the owners were super sweet and kind!!!! I forgot my purse there and they put it in a little bag and stored it away for me. GIVE THEM A TRY :) read more

Ok so my boyfriend and I have been here 4 times now in one week. I convinced him to try pho for the first time and I am so happy this was his first experience The broth is out of this world. Cooked from scratch bone broth. I have literally tried multiple places in GR even the ones everyone says are the best. This place is hands down the greatest one. Turns out the owner actually ran a pho place in California for 17 years and moved back to be closer to family. They opened right before the covid shut down so not a lot of reviews. I've only ever written one other Yelp review in my life so it's taking a lot for me to write this. read more

Decent pho place. Not sure if my wife and I showed up during an off day but, despite not being very busy, service took FOREVER. Tables weren't cleaned (just piles of bowls everywhere) and lots of hungry people waiting for their order to be taken/served. Once we got our food, we found it fairly good, albeit a bit heavy on the clove/cinnamon side. We'll definitely be back to give it a second try. read more

Saigon Garden - Chicken pho with shrimp - Vietnamese Near Me - Grand Rapids, Michigan

Yes, it is Vietnamese in an ocean of bland midwestern food, but not great. We were the only customers late evening. Several dirty tables, floor was also dirty, and I can't understand why they won't wipe down the various condiment bottles at each table. Crusty and greasy, and the chili paste jar was swimming in days old overfill. Not the most appetizing. We had 2 bowls of pho. Broth had no flavor on its own. Basically hot water. Basil, sprouts, etc were reasonably fresh, but a bit wilted. Once the soup was doctored up it was ok. The beef brisket and tendon had good flavor. Service was ok as well, but listening to the server have a discussion in Vietnamese from one side of the room to the other at maximum volume got a little tiresome. This place can do better. read more

I had Seafood Pho. Quite tasty, very large serving. This was taken AFTER I ate myself silly. Service is pretty bad though. I was there a little too early for a proper dinner. We decided to try this new restaurant, when we came, most of the tables were dirty, not a great impression. But then we realized that there were only 2 people serving and they tried to get to everyone the best they could and moved as quickly as they could. Had 3 different phos and spring rolls. The pho broth was very delicious and we could really taste the herbs. The noodles were a tad soft and they could put more meat, but overall very satisfying. The veggies were crisp and fresh. Delicious spring rolls too. We will definitely be back to try the other menu items, but we definitely enjoyed our lunch. read more
