I have friends who absolutely love this place and come here often so I joined them Saturday for lunch. I haven't had Pho in a while so I ordered the Pho ga. It was delicious and very filling. A tip that I would give to anyone who enjoys a good Vietnamese chicken soup is to ask for the grilled chicken instead of the pulled as it gives the soup a slightly smokey flavor and just enhances it. The restaurant itself is very beautiful, spotlessly clean, and the service was outstanding. Ordered the fresh spring rolls which have vermicelli noodles, mint leaves, shrimp and pork with a peanut sauce ($5) and the shrimp fried rice ($13) with lots of medium sized shrimp, onions, peas and carrots mixed with egg into fried rice. Ordered takeout after a recommendation from a Vietnamese neighbor. Amazing food and by far the best Vietnamese restaurant in the local area. Pho Tai - a bit small but delicious. Broth is flavorful, authentic, and not oily. Noodles are perfectly cooked. Came with all the right vegetables and meat. Papaya Salad with Shrimp - Wonderful find. Shrimps cooked just right. Papayas are fresh and crunchy. Toppings are spot on and the sauce is great. Lemongrass Chicken with Rice - Seasoning was just right and the lemongrass was not overpowering. Although the staff was extremely friendly, the food was subpar if that. the Pho did not have much meat but tons of noodles and there werent many options of different meats. They had a bigger seafod pho section. Impressed with every little detail ! Food was absolutely amazing. I got pho as usual and the soup base wasn't overlynervous salty. The noodles were cooked right and there was a good amount of sliced beef. I'm happy that there wasn't a big plate of bean sprouts because I don't usually add all of it, and the smaller portion just looked perfect for my size of bowl anyways. Their jalapeño was fresh too. The only down side is I only had one slice of lime. Usually I get three at other places. But I didn't bother ask for more. I'm sure they would've given me extra if needed. The environment is stunning. It's so clean. The restrooms were super clean too! I was shocked .... I always check for clean restrooms at each restaurant, it's one of my petpeeves The host is super friendly and attentive. I think the owner was the one who served my food. He was very friendly. I like the Spring Rolls, Summer Rolls and Golden Pancake for app's. Dishes my favorite is the Saigon Flavor (mixed seafood in a wonton shell), Carmel Fish, Shrimp or Chicken Lemongrass with I think broccoli or another veggie, and Lemon Chicken, veggie and rice on side. Lee is still there. Wonderful as always! I really don't think he gets a day off. We got beef and broccoli, my fav. Plus my gf got vegetarian vermicelli with spring rolls. To prepare for EDC, I also got steak fried rice to go, for after EDC. This way we don't have to leave the house, afterwards. It's amazing as leftovers, too. I don't say that lightly bc there is a host of bad fried rice out there, where you don't even like it fresh. Saigon Flavors does it fresh and perfectly! I get my Vietnamese fix from Saigon Flavors. There aren't a ton of vegetarian offerings here, but that's OK by me because when I eat Vietnamese, I'm pretty powerless against the vermicelli bowl. This dish is a typical Vietnamese dish with rice noodles (vermicelli), sliced lettuce and carrots, topped with a sliced spring roll (can be vegetarian), then doused in fish sauce. Fish sauce is, of course, not vegetarian or vegan, but you could ask for a different sauce to pour over the dish. That being said, they are very very accommodating here. Every time I eat here, I get Lee as my server and he is always happy to guide newbies on what to order and is willing to work with dietary restrictions. That being said, I'd really like to see more vegetarian offerings on their official menu, not just Lee's super secret menu. Some places in the Bay Area where I used to live had developed a kind of vegetarian fish sauce, which I would also love to see here. If you're omni, their pho is out of this world, and there are plenty of other chef's specialties on the menu for those looking for a less typical Vietnamese dish. I tried to be authentic and ask my waitress for the most commonly ordered Pho and she suggested the one that is reminiscent of Chicken Noodle Soup. Looking back on my slim Vietnamese knowledge, I thought that was off and proceeded to ask what was the most traditional. Then she said Beef Broth is typical and so that's what I chose. Maybe beefy soups aren't something I love, but overall I wasn't impressed by my pho. I did love the meatballs floating about, but it's not what I went home raving about. The Crab Claws on the other hand were pretty impressive and a genuine treat compared to anything else I've ever had. Been going to Saigon Flavors since it opened and have never been disappointed. I went in recently and realized that there was a change of ownership unfortunately.. I really missed seeing Charlie the owner and Lee greeting you at the door.. New management told me that the prior chef was still there, but I just can't believe that based on what I tasted-The wonton soup was definitely different: no hint of sesame oil which added a unique flavor and also missing crispy shallots and the Lemon Chicken bun was different-couldn't quite put my finger on it, but something was definitely missing. Hopefully new owners take notice and bring back the same wonderful food and flavors that kept us customers coming back year after year. read more

We live in the area close by and did not want to go all the way down to Colonial near all of the other Vietnamese restaurants so we were recommended to come here. Our server was on top of things and was very attentive. The manager came out and recommended that we all as a group eat family style with a variety of dishes and it would come out to about $20 a person. After a long discussion, we ended up going with that option. We got a variety of appetizers, one of which I really enjoyed. The beef wrapped in leaves was delicious. Our first visit for a couple of years. Saigon Flavors had been voted "Best Vietnamese" a couple of years ago. We wanted to see if it was still as good. I ordered Seafood Pho, with squid, shrimp, and crab. It was mostly squid, but was good. The broth was very tasty and I really enjoyed it. My wife got the Crab and Asparagus soup, and she said she enjoyed it. We also shared an order of two shrimp egg rolls. These were delicious, with a whole shrimp sticking out of one end. A diner across from us got the pan fried noodles, and I will order that next time, it looked so good. This is a small restaurant, and from day one, the manager has waited tables. This allows him to monitor quality always, and he asks for your feedback, so quality is always in the forefront. We won't wait so long to go back. read more

We stopped in on a whim and were really pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of food here. The staff was very friendly and our waitress recommended the red curry which was DELICIOUS. It was pretty sweet for a chicken dish (probably due to the coconut milk), so if you're more into savory, it might not be for you. I loved it though. We also tried the vegetarian spring rolls as an appetizer and those were great too. Also...the rice! It was perfectly cooked. Portions were very large (almost enough for 2 meals) and the prices were reasonable. The service was quite fast as well. The place itself was very nicely decorated with a nice little bar and soft lighting. This would be a great spot for an reasonably priced date night. Having a wide choice of Vietnamese food in downtown Orlando has spoiled me I think. The most dominant flavor in my curry was sugar, way too sweet and very runny. We went for lunch and were totally disappointed not only in the food taste and quality, but the service was poor. I asked to have my meal made spicy hot and they said no you have to use the hot pepper on the table. It took the staff just a few short moments to put a couple of tables/chairs together to accommodate us, we were seated right away, given menus and our server was there quickly to take our drink orders. We ordered a few spring rolls, summer rolls and beef wrapped in grape leaves as appetizers for the table. All were excellent, but my favorite had to be the summer rolls with pork and shrimp, served with this restaurant's own peanut dipping sauce. For my entree I had the Saigon Beef as recommended by our server - Chunks of marinated flank steak served on a bed of lettuce with sauteed onions and white rice. This dish was very flavorful and the size of the portions was about perfect, as one came away feeling full but not stuffed. Everyone in our party was happy with their food, the service was excellent from both our server and the gentleman whom I believe was the owner. When you enter the restaurant you realize it's somewhat quaint which is expected due to the location. The decor is very nice, and compliments the attractive bar that would be ideal to have nice drink and enjoy a meal after work. It was lunch time when I visited Saigon Flavors and it's a new establishment so they were at capacity for seating. Even with the amount of patrons the wait was short and we were seated within a few minutes. The menu is simple and has just the right amount of items to choose from for everyone. I ordered the Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls #6 and #37 Pho Hai-San -Pho with seafood - shrimp, scallops, calamari and crab claw. The spring rolls are nice and light with crave causing taste. The Pho was really good with "REAL" crab claws included in the soup. "Pure Delicious" The other item ordered at the table that I tasted was the #61 Rice with Grilled Pork Served with lettuce, tomatoes and topped with simmered scallions and fried onions. The pork is marinated with something good and will be on the list to order again the next time I return. One thing that makes Saigon Flavors stand out is the amount of detail they place on the taste of the food and they also explained the mystery sauces that I have seen on the table at every Vietnamese restaurant. Saigon Flavors is located in strip center that belies what's just inside the door. The interior is striking with bold colors, chrome pin lights and sleek black lacquer furniture, quite different looking than the often plain interiors of many Vietnamese restaurants. This is much more than a Pho-N-Go place although they do list many versions of that delicious soup. We arrived at an odd time on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner and the restaurant was empty. As such, the manager Lee waited on us, although he was assisted by another server. Six of us ate with a few of the group new to Vietnamese food and unsure what to order. Lee suggested he could select the dishes and that sounded like a plan. Vietnamese feast to follow. For brevity, below is a list of our meal: Starters: Summer Rolls w/Shrimp & Pork - w/ fresh scallion peaking out of each roll Beef Wrapped with Grape Leaves - Char grilled beef wrapped in grape leaves Saigon Flavors - Raw papaya with squid & cilantro in a light dressing All were delicious with the Grape Leaves my favorite. Wrapped deep inside, the juicy beef gave you a burst of flavor that was fabulous. It was served with a fish sauce. Some of our party was "texture adverse" to the Squid. Entrees: Saigon Steak - marinated steak & onions w/wine, garlic & butter, served on greens Steamed Tilapia w/ginger & scallions - large filleted pieces of fresh fish Seafood Combo - served on a sizzling platter w/mixed vegetables in a light brown sauce Crispy Combo Noodles - a base of crispy noodles w/chicken, seafood & beef All were served with abundant quantities of white rice, and "Pineapple rice" which was really good. The fresh pineapple chunks with chicken, shrimp and cashews lightly cooked in the seasoned rice. My wife would have loved the Tilapia served as a whole fish (golden fried) which is an option, maybe next time. I think our server/manager Lee made the right food selections given the crowd he was working. Lee gave a brief demonstration on his suggested mixing of the three tableside sauces; a hot red sauce (don't remember the name), Sriracha, and Hoisin. With our particular group, the food provided was to the mild side (as requested) and these sauces enhanced the food for the more adventurous. When you want to concentrate on good food, a big group is not ideal. However we were traveling and it is what it is. The food was skillfully prepared, beautifully presented and promptly served. All dishes demonstrated the careful balance of flavor and color that is the hallmark of Vietnamese food. I think Saigon Flavors has great potential and I would love to return. We were served three of each starter and one of each entrée, serving six people and the food was plentiful. With five non alcoholic beverages the tab was $140.00 + tip.
